Haul from Goulet Pens’ ink sample sale!

Highlights include empty Colorverse and Herbin 1670 bottles, a potential Robert Oster dupe for my beloved Sheaffer Turquoise (whichgotdiscontinued grumblegrumble), a lot of green overall (including 4 samples and of course the Clairefontaine notebook), searching for a favorite coral/sage green/light orange go-to ink, and Sailor Manyo Haha. It’s swabbin’ time!

Side note: I haven’t forgotten about the Galen Leather Writer’s Bag review, I’ve just gotten sidetracked with five other projects. The very short version is that if you’re obsessed with it, go for it, but Goulet Pens may offer a better experience.

ok so advanced painters club today we were shipping colors and ngl we found the best ship ever in pink and gold. the campus supervisor said lavender and white and we love him for that. we're planning a comic about it now.

so the royal family is gold silver bronze ok and bronze is jealous of gold and pinks relationship.

pink is a calm, content kinda person while gold is like OMG I LOVE LIFE HAVE SOME COOKIES LOVE YOU

gray is aroace and is pinks sibling. gray is overprotective. green is aro.

purple and navy migghhht be a thing?

gray and green have like a rivals which would kill people for each other kinda vibe.

red is younger siblings to a darker red.

orange is a toxic bitch bc one of my friends hates the color orange.

oh and the way colors reproduce is when they get old and about to dry they hold hands and spin and turn into a new color.

also they have no concept of gender

Ink Review: Colorverse Golden Gate Bridge

Let’s take stock.

Day 24 of Colorverse’s ink calendar is approaching and I just want to take stock of the… choices they’ve made so far this month in preparation for the disappointment I will be feeling tomorrow.

Here are all the swatches so far categorized by color. Notice how little variety there is? Lots of dulls. Lots of blues. Lots of the same hues.

Here are all the flats. There are many.

Here are all the sheens. Oh yeah, notice how all the very nice premium wearingeaul swatch cards are smudged to all hell for every single sheen? Interesting.

Here are the shimmers. Only three, huh?… Kay.

Here are the chameleons. All the same sheer unwritable combo of light gray and light blue.

To say this calendar was a flop would be giving it too much credit. I understand the appeal of giving people everyday inks for advent calendars as opposed to more flashy festive limited-use inks, but that doesn’t give Colorverse a pass to forego any and all creativity. They had no vision. No color palette in mind. The theme was “vague space names” and that was it. They reused color combos an EMBARRASSING number of times when all they had to do was switch even ONE element of the ink to make it new and fresh, but they couldn’t even manage that.

This box offered little variety, and the inks that do stand out, stand out for how atrocious they look (I’m looking at you, Sunbeam). The inks that I ended up liking were more of a pity acceptance. “Oh, I guess I like this one! Yeah I’ll use this one so I feel like I didn’t just waste my money.”

I love inks. I love flat inks! I love sheens (sometimes)! I love chameleons! I love shimmers! I love Colorverse inks! But this Calendar was pitiful. No love (or even thought) was put behind it and no amount of marketing could convince me otherwise.

Whatever ink comes tomorrow will not be enough to convince me that this calendar was worth it.

Never again.

The whumper loved showing off the whumpee to anyone who might listen, practically preening at the attention a pet like the whumpee earned them. The last thing the whumper ever expected was for someone to not only care about the whumpee’s comfort, but to also want the whumper to free their captive. The whumper was appalled- the whumpee wasn’t even remotely human, and while the whumpee did express discomfort, the whumper didn’t particularly care.

My sibling fell ill over a character design so I drew their husband (Vantasword) in their outfit. I was gonna do just lineart but then brain went GRGRGRHRHR NEEDS COLORS so I was just gonna add the bright colors and then make the rest a flat dark color but NUH UH this was the end result. Was it worth staying up til 2am to do? Fuck yeah.
