NEW OC ALERT!! meet Pippa :3

She’s one of Beatrix‘ followers who has been cursed. It’s a 16 year old puenymph who can transform into a Japanese emperor caterpillar/butterfly. I thought it would be interesting if it was kinda in the middle of metamorphosis, so I made her a teen because puberty and stuff lol

Her name is based on the word pupa! Insect puenymphs like her don’t pupate like regular insects tho because imagine you transform and you’re just some cocoon 😭 so it’s a gradual change, which is why she has both caterpillar and butterfly features!

She’s a pretty late bloomer metamorphosis wise and feels pretty insecure about it, so the fact that it’s affliction with the curse made her dna mutate in a way where her butterfly features popped up earlier is like a blessing to it. She’s pretty positive about the curse because it blamed the negative effects on its body on her shut-in lifestyle and didn’t associate them with the curse. She died pretty early on after being cursed because of its health, which is why she only has purple roots in her hair and a few purple spots. It hopes that by following Beatrix and her principles, it can complete her metamorphosis.

Her wings are also based on the male butterfly because she’s transfem :3

Cecropia caterpillars have reached their fifth instar. I held this little guy after doing a tank clean and getting them fresh leaves. They’re needing new food just about every day now. I’ll have to move to a proper box-elder tree for their feed, now that they’ve basically eaten the equivalent of the remaining sapling in my yard.

Hoping they pupate before we leave on vacation, though I can have a friend take care of them when I’m gone.
