#marshdoodles#isat#in stars and time#isat spoilers#odile more like. oteal. gottem#anyways color headcanons!!! these’ve been brewing in my head for a little while#especially euphrasie. i genuinely didn’t process everything being in greyscale until after she was introduced#my color headcanon for her was so engrained within me that i didn’t realize she wasn’t colored#everyone else came pretty easily. except for odile#i don’t really see her wearing like. saturated colors?#i just defaulted to teal because i like tinting black hair teal#her purple-ish shirt was supposed to be like. a subtle hint to her being half vaugardian#since all of my vauguardians have warmer color palettes#but idrk how well that translates. oh well!#im like 90% sure i chose purple for mira because of plums. even though mirabelle plums aren’t purple#but by the time i realized that her colors were set in stone in my brain#i’d go on about design details for the others but these tags are already outrageously long as is#so uh. oops. can you tell i like talking about character design

#I enjoyed this process So MUCH#And what a process it was. In one wip Solas looked a little bit too beat up... to balance the line of disheveled and on the brink of death#Is a delicate line#And painting these floating stones was such a joy! Good practice too as I don't often draw spacious and atmospheric scenes#I should do it more often. I was inspired by the concept art of Dai and datv. The amount of stories you can tell with the colors! LOVE#I tried a new technique for painting the skin and it was challenging. I layered transparent colors over a black and white shadow sketch.#A technique usually kept for oilpainting but it translated surprisingly well in digital media#And side note. Aren't these the wettest eyes of Thedas? #I somewhat plan on doing the others (I already have the ideas for vbs and l/n) but seeing how far I progressed with gog? yeah...#anyways long ramble ahead (Main reason for this post ngl)#Minori is a normal brown checkered feral pigeon with some pied markings. Brain simply told me street rat and I complied#additionally she has grouse cuz fuzzy peet like boots but no slippers#Haruka is a black colored Lahore (with a exaggerated blue sheen) mainly because Haruka is giving fancy breed and Lahore resemble penguins#Airi is a ash-red wild type feral mix that has a bit of valencia figurita in it (street rat but small was the idea in my peanut sized brain#her beak is cross to somehow translate Airis fang in a interesting way. I could've just made the beak pointier but that's not flashy enough#Shizuku is a fantail with blue t-check wingshields cuz its a obvious choise. I wanna know where to ignore all details and where to go ham you feel me?#i used to dream about developing a style like for MtG where it looked like a masterful oil painting that oozes realism and details#and i've realised the last two years or so that I would actually hate that for me. I know I wouldn't enjoy doing it. For myself.#it's that pipeline from wanting to be the perfect realistic wotc artist to accepting that I will never be that#instead i wanna learn how to stylise better and get a good brush economy going yknow.
