Wildest Dreams: Part 6
“Can I ask?” Her voice came from your bed, her hands tucked into her sweater and held against her knees as she sat cross-legged. “If you’re just going as friends, why are you putting so much effort into what you’re wearing?”
She was the omega who worked in the library, who spent most of her time with her nose between a book and her head down to remain as invisible as possible. You and she had met when you were pouring over medical books for a distinct and hard-to-diagnose disorder that you were writing a paper on.
She helped you not only find the book you were looking for but also helped you recover your research library code when you forgot it. A friendship was struck weeks before, and she was the first omega you thought of when you asked her for her help. She had come over as soon as she could, agreeing to listen to you as you spilled everything you could within the time you were given.
“I don’t know, I just…” You shrugged and tilted your head while looking at yourself in the reflection of the mirror. “I am irritated with them. I’m angry and I felt abandoned but part of me missed them. A huge part of me missed them, they were my best friends. But then I looked at their Instagrams -“
“-which were all taken with friends. Not their hookups. They told you they were only together right?” You glanced at her through the smooth and reflective surface, watching her as her fingers toyed with a few loose strings on her sweater, her head tucked and her bottom lip trapped between her teeth.
“B, you okay?” You questioned your friend.
You made a point of calling her bunny or B, the nickname she had grown up with in the same way you’d been called Omega Bean. It was a pet name that stuck, something you couldn’t shake and you felt like it suited her well. She was frightened at times, skittish and shy, which in part was one of the reasons behind the cutesy nickname.
Bunny suited her, it was a personification of her personality and you admired that.
“There’s this alpha who’s been coming to the library over and over again. I’ve never seen him before a few weeks ago and I think he might…” She bit down on her lip again, a nervous habit both of you seemed to share. “I mean alphas come through the library all the time, it’s not like there’s a rule that no alphas can come by but-“
“Is he making you uncomfortable? Are you uncomfortable with him being there? Because you can say something.” Your task of choosing what to wear was forgotten and replaced by the conversation with B. You drew yourself back to the bed and sat upon the mattress with her, taking the same position she had to fold your legs under you. There was a brief skiff of silence while she gathered her thoughts and then started unloading what was on her chest and mind.
“He’s a football player and he’s huge. I mean massive like he could squish me with one hand without even trying. He’s intense and when he comes into the library he always finds me, like almost immediately.” She raised her head and drew her hands over her thighs, anxiously rubbing them to clear her skin of any sweat. “I think his name is Ari..?”
“Ari…” Your eyebrows had become furrowed, your lips pursing while you started thinking and recalling any of the players you had seen just an hour or more before.
“He kind of scares me but just because he’s so big. He commented on the necklace I wear, and he wanted to know what the symbol meant.” Your eye dropped to the green jade charm hanging off a gold chain, and further to the charm that was nestled between the jade stone. “I told him that it’s a good luck charm, it’s meant to bring good fortune.”
“It sounds like he likes you like really likes you.” You beamed, excited for her even though your own experience with alphas was temporarily troubling. “B! This is exciting!”
“Do you think he actually does or is he just trying to…have fun?” She tilted her head, drawing her hands from her thighs to the front of her sweater, giving the front a quick tug. “He’s so tall and imposing, but his scent is addictive. Sort of.”
“I think he wants to get to know you, and if he just wanted to have fun and screw around you’d be able to tell. Alpha’s like that seemed to give off those vibes. Do you get those vibes from him?”
“He’s nice, he seems nice anyway.” She tapered off, drawing her gaze back toward the stack of books on your desk haphazardly set on the hard surface. Silence had temporarily come and had been broken again when she spoke and pointed toward one of the dresses you had thrown across the back of your chair.
“You should wear that dress, it’d look good on you.”
The place they wanted to go to was a few blocks off campus, nestled in between a little café and a hobby shop, both of which had been lit by vintage Edison lights centred in the bay windows. You had stopped before entering the diner, taking as much time as you needed to admire all the nicknacks set on shelves in the bay window of the hobby shop, analyzing and admiring the vintage-feeling toys or kits for building handmade items.
You were so enthralled by this place you’d never seen before that you allowed yourself to get distracted which in turn meant your focus was only broken by Steve’s voice. He had peered out of the door of the diner, holding onto the wood with one hand while the other had been busy waving you inside.
“Not ditching are you?” Steve teased when you slipped by him to enter the diner, his eyes following you until you were standing in the entrance.
It was amazing to see the décor of the diner that made you feel as if you were taking a step back in time to the early half of the century. From the entrance on, the entire diner was decorated with vintage lighting and seating, a remodelled early subway car was set in the middle of the place with steely barstools set before a unified table that stretched from one end of the car to the next.
You didn’t know what captivating detail you wanted to hyper-fixate on, it was all mesmerizing and you were rightfully enraptured by it all. When you expected to have dinner as friends, you didn’t think Steve and Bucky would’ve taken you someplace that was so amazing. You had half expected the place to be something ordinary, someplace that wasn’t as captivating as this.
“This is….wow.” The smile that formed on your face had been impossible to negate, and you weren’t aware of how Steve or Bucky were looking at you.
You had been completely oblivious to the feel of his hand on the small of your back and Bucky’s alluring and soft smile that crept on his face. You were oblivious to the two alpha’s, their scents and their reaction to how excited you were about this place. You hadn’t been aware of the way they were looking at you while you studied every inch of this eclectic and aged aesthetic restaurant they’d brought you to.
It was innate and telling, the way they were watching you with fascination, admiration and devotion. If only you could have been a fly on the wall overlooking the three of you then you would’ve been able to see the two alphas in a completely different light. If you could have been omniscient, you would have crumbled.
“This place is amazing.” Your admiration for this place was met with their own and it had bled into the gentle touch of Bucky’s hand resting against yours as he led you to the table.
“Knew you’d like it.” Steve had taken the place across from you in a booth, almost immediately reaching for Bucky’s hand to give it a gentle squeeze.
He tapped his fingertips against Bucky’s knuckles, the soft affection drawing a soft sigh from the alpha next to you. You were unable to stop yourself from turning your head to look at Bucky, your gaze settling over him in studiousness that had felt renewed and invigorated. You’d seen them around campus, you’d seen them at practice and on Instagram, but being so close to him had given you a better look at the beautiful boy.
You’d remained silent when you looked at Steve with the same intensity, your eyes committing every minute detail of his face to memory, not that it hadn’t already been engrained in your mind.
Steve and Bucky were both, easily, the most beautiful alphas you had ever seen, and your composure was slipping every minute you spent with them. Your fight, your internal battle to keep yourself at a distance, was becoming a double-edged sword that would either destroy you or ignite the fire of remembrance.
Were you going to retain your edge and keep them at a distance? Or were you going to give in and let yourself become consumed and overwhelmed by their projected comfort and warmth?
“We’re sorry we had to leave you.” Steve had drawn your attention to himself, the apology that fell from his tongue and lips had settled into your skin, becoming another harrowing crack in your defence. “We didn’t want to leave.”
“We didn’t have a choice.” Bucky leaned into you, his shoulder brushing against yours. “We would’ve never left you, Bean.”
“I know.” You dropped your eyes and chewed the inside of your cheek, the urge to cry hounding you as your chest grew tighter and your eyes had begun to water. “I know you didn’t want to, but it still-“
“I’m sorry, we’re sorry.” Bucky slipped his arm around your shoulders, drawing you against his side with just enough of a physically and emotionally charged catalyst to make you crumble.
Your hands fisted his shirt and your face was hidden in his chest, you had curled up as best as you could while in the booth. There was no end to your tears when you began to break down against him, as angry as you could’ve been, as hurt and bitter as you were, it was nearly impossible to ignore the way your body and hindbrain were screaming for them.
It was impossible to shut off the warmth that surged through you, and the feeling of absolute peace that had inflicted you when you pressed yourself against him. Being pressed against Bucky as you broke down, cried and simpered into his chest, was as natural as breathing. It was as natural and cathartic as your heart beating in your chest or your brain firing off neurons.
“We’re never going to leave you again.” Steve’s whispers had become a vow, his voice echoing a promise while Bucky smoothed down your hair and crooned softly to you while clinging to him. “We are never breaking apart, we’re together again.”
“We’re not leaving you, Omega Bean.”
Your shiver was noticed by both of them, it was impossible to let anything by the now. Their reaction was as closely timed to the second shiver that ran through you, and the weight of Bucky’s jacket across your shoulders produced a soft smile that tugged on your lips.
You slipped your arms through the sleeves of his jacket, and while your hands were obscured by the lengths you had still tightened the front around you. The three of you had left the restaurant a half hour ago and had begun walking back to campus, the idea of taking a cab or Uber was thrown out when you decided to spend more time with them.
“This doesn’t count as a date.” You bit the inside of your cheek, delivering the statement that made both alphas stop and look at you with matching expressions on their face. “I just thought you should know-“
Steve and Bucky had tilted their heads, almost like a set of Labrador puppies interested by the squeak of a toy, and it took all your composure to resist breaking into a grin at their confusion. There were staring at you in silence, every passing beat of quietude making their eyes narrow slightly until you broke and laughed under your breath.
“That’s not funny.” Steve’s lips formed a hard line, the pursing of his lips and the sternness in his voice producing another small laugh from you. “That was mean.”
“It was funny! You should’ve seen the look on your faces!” It felt natural and easy to joke with them as if nothing had come between you and no time had passed. “That’s not funny.”
You mocked Steve and chortled again, beaming when he huffed and rolled his eyes. He was trying, in vain, to hide his smirk or the overcoming surge of this scent that was rooted in excitement for the joking manner between you two. He had looked away to keep his composure, and while he had Bucky had steppe toward you with a small wrapped box.
He had stepped before you and turned over your hand, resting the box against your palm. He had closed your fingers around the wrapping paper. It was crooked and cockeyed with a bunch of tape holding it together, though you were more interested in the tag that had your name scrawled across the width.
“This is for me?” You questioned both of them, gaze flitting from one to the other as you stood beneath a street light. “You didn’t have to get me anything.”
“Omega Bean, baby this is-“ Steve started, letting the endearment slip with a heft exhale and the furrow of his brows.
“-It’s not a courting gift.” Bucky had spoken over him, nervously drumming his fingers against his thighs. “I mean unless-“
“What is it?” You tore the paper from the box with eagerness, ignoring the two nervous alphas in favour of opening their gift and turning over the box.
The object fell into your hand and your fingers closed around the gift to keep it from slipping from your grasp. You tucked the empty box under your arm before you opened your palm and cast your gaze upon the handmade bracelet from daycare. The cheap plastic beads were coloured with Christmas and winter colours, added and strung along a piece of elastic, and in the middle of the bracelet were their initials written on a small wooden bead.
“You still have this?” You immediately slipped the bracelet on your right wrist, turning your wrist to the right and left to admire the beads. “I can’t believe you still have this!”
“It doesn’t have to be-“ Steve had attempted to reiterate his previous statement, not willing or wanting to push you past your limits.
“I love it,” you cut Steve off to step before Bucky, standing on your tippy toes to brush your lips against his in a soft, fleeting kiss, “this is incredible.”
You drew back from Bucky and stepped in front of Steve, led by your instincts and hindbrain. The kiss against his lips was just as soft and fleeting although he had quickly grabbed hold of your waist to prevent you from running. The kiss was deepened, every powerful feeling slamming into you all at once as his lips danced against your own. You were drawn away from him, pushed toward Bucky and his searing kiss that was just as addictive as Steve’s.
“We want to do so much with you.” Bucky leaned his forehead against yours, his eyes closing as he cupped your cheeks and breathed you in. “We missed you so damn much.”
“I missed you too.” You whispered back, your reply soft and tender. “I missed both of you.”
“Bean-“ Bucky had drawn his hand further down your cheek, speaking your nickname with a wavering voice.
“It’s okay, Bucky.” You kissed him softly, again, and then stepped away from him. “I would like a piggyback ride through-“
“Me first.” Steve stole you away from Bucky, crouching down to let you wrap your legs around his waist and your arms around his neck. “Back to campus.”

— warnings: smut! 18+ aggressive!rafe, slightly bimbo!reader, semi public sex, almost getting caught, fingering, hair pulling, face fucking (my fav shit oops), slapping, choking, degrading, praise, unprotected sex.
— note: this was a request for kook king!football player!rafe x kook queen!bimbo cheerleader!reader from @oceandriveab and i accidentally posted it before writing anything, so here’s this😈 i’m ferallllll for football player!rafe 😮💨
❥ mine — r.c
“touchdown, rafe cameron!”
the announcers voice booms through the speakers, the crowd is screaming, cheering your boyfriends name loudly!
you have a wide smile on your face, rafe had scored the game winning touchdown, and you knew that meant he’d be in an extra good mood tonight.
the sound of the football coaches voice fills your ears, and you see players rushing the field. you drop your poms by your feet, rushing to the field yourself, in search of rafe.
“rafe!!” you shout, finding him mid field, his teammates, students, coaches, and other cheerleaders surrounding him.
he finds your eyes through the sea of people surrounding him, politely excusing himself and pushing himself out of the sea of bodies, taking long strides toward you.
you throw your hands up in the air, squealing in excitement when he reaches you, “you did it baby! game winning touchdown, you secured our spot in the playoffs!”
rafe wraps one arm tightly around your waist, his free hand gripping his helmet by his side as he lifts you up off the ground. you instinctively wrap your legs around his waist, cupping his cheeks with your hands and placing hundreds of kisses to his face, landing one on his lips before he sets you back onto your feet.
you lift yourself onto your toes, your lips brushing against his ear as you whisper, “so, you wanna hurry and get outta here? don’t bother showering”
rafe glances down at you, an amused smirk on his lips. he brings his bottom lip between his teeth, releasing it quickly and opening his mouth to speak before he’s approached by a reporter.
“rafe! good game tonight, tell us about your strategy for game nights”
rafe smiles softly, turning to face you, dipping his head down to whisper in your ear, “go wait for me by the locker rooms, this’ll only take a second baby”
you giggle, bringing your own bottom lip between your teeth and nodding your head.
quickly turning on your heels you rush toward the sidelines to gather your stuff before making your way toward the locker rooms. you pull your phone out of your cheer bag, opening instagram and scrolling through the endless posts about tonight’s game.
you stand and scroll for about ten minutes when you finally hear rafe’s voice, “hey baby, ready to go home?”
you stared at your boyfriend in awe, he looked so sexy, black face paint smeared under his eyes, hair messy from sweat and his helmet, and his goddamn football pants, squeezing him in all the right places, making you ache.
you needed him, and you didn’t think you could wait the fifteen minutes it took to get back home.
“baby… i- i don’t think i can wait until we get home.. i need you now..” you say softly, batting your lashes innocently at him.
he narrows his eyes, cocking his head to the side in question before it finally hits him what you’re hinting at.
he exhales deeply, “fuck, you wanna fuck here? where?”
you bite at your bottom lip, eyes darkened over in lust as you grab his hand and pull him into the locker room. it was empty, everyone else having left by now.
you pull him toward the showers, reaching inside and turning one on before dropping his hand and pulling your cheer top over your head.
rafe sucks in a sharp breath, his eyes scanning the length of your body, “fuck baby. you look so fucking sexy”
“stop talking, show me how sexy you think i am baby”
he quickly drops his bag and his helmet on the ground, stepping toward you and wrapping his hand around your throat, pulling your lips into his.
you moan into his mouth, allowing him to slip his tongue inside. he tightens his grip on your throat, pushing your back into a wall, his lips never leaving yours.
he pulls himself back, his lips swollen and red as his eyes search your face for any signs of wanting to stop and go home instead.
your hands fly to his football pants, quickly undoing the button and pulling them down his legs. you bite at your bottom lip when you see his bulge pressed tightly against his briefs, “someone’s excited, isn’t he?” you tease.
rafe growls when your small hand palms him through his briefs, gently rubbing at his hard cock.
he pushes your hands away, pulling his jersey and pads off of his upper body, tossing them to the floor as well. he quickly moves his hands to your ass, gripping tightly at the flesh before he slowly pulls the zipper down and making your skirt fall to the floor.
his eyes scan your entire body, making your panties grow wetter under his intense gaze. you take advantage of his eyes on you, slowly moving your hands to the back of your bra and unclasping it, letting the straps fall from your shoulders slowly until the lace material hits the ground.
you move to your panties next, slowly sliding them down your legs until you’re completely naked for him. you turn your body so your back was facing him, slowly bending yourself down to gather your clothes from the floor, giving him a perfect view of your soaked pussy.
a loud squeal is pulled from you when rafe aggressively grabs at your arms, pulling you into the hot shower. he throws you into the shower wall, a dark look in his eyes as he watches you squirm from his touch, “such a fucking slut, wanting to be fucked by your boyfriend in a semi public place? you get off on knowing anyone of my teammates, any of my coaches, or any of your girls could walk in on us at anytime?”
you try and answer him, but you’re so turned on, brain short circuiting as you take in his perfect body, his hard, thick cock staring at you, begging to be touched, “i-i.. y-yes?” you answer weakly.
rafe chuckles, his hand flying to your throat again and squeezing lightly. he uses his grip on your throat to push you onto the cold shower floor, your knees already starting to hurt from the hard ground below you.
“go on, be a good fucking girl, suck my cock”
you quickly obey, softly grasping his cock in your hands and pumping him slowly. you smirk to yourself when you hear him groan, glancing up and seeing his head thrown back in pleasure as you worked his cock with your hands.
you lick at his tip, tasting the precum that had leaked from him and humming in satisfaction, “taste so good daddy”
a low growl emits from rafe’s throat, his hands flying to the back of your head. he grips your hair between his fingers, shoving his cock down your throat without warning.
you begin gagging around him, his swollen head hitting the back of your throat repeatedly as he harshly thrusts himself into your mouth. the grip on your hair tightens, shoving himself as deep as he could and stilling inside you.
he takes his free hand and begins stroking at your cheek softly before pulling back and landing a harsh smack to the skin. his hand makes it way to your throat, fingertips running over the bulge from where his dick sat, “so goddamn pretty with your throat full of my cock. could stay like this forever baby girl”
he harshly pulls your head back, making himself slip from your mouth with a pop, strings of spit pulling from your mouth. you begin gasping for air, your eyes glued on rafe, lashes fluttering.
“up and turn. gonna fuck this pussy so good you won’t be able to walk tomorrow”
you quickly rise to your feet, your knees red and sore from being on the ground so long but you push the thought to the back of your mind. you turn and face the wall, pressing your hands firmly against the cold tile.
rafe wraps an arm around your waist, his fingers instantly finding your clit and rubbing sloppy circles around it. a soft whimper falls from your lips, pushing your ass out further, chasing more of his touch.
rafe cups your pussy, his palm pressed firmly against your clit while he ran his thick fingers through your folds, teasing at your entrance.
he shoves his middle finger inside you, slowly thrusting it while applying more pressure to your clit with his palm.
“awe, my girls already clenching around my finger, can’t wait to fuck this sweet pussy, fill you up with my cum. you want that baby?”
you whine, your hips bucking forward when he shoves another finger inside your sopping cunt. your head goes back, landing on his toned chest, eyes squeezed shut as you focused on the pleasure, your orgasm fluttering.
rafe slows the pace of his fingers, completely stilling them inside you. his free hand grips at your damp hair, pulling your head back and into an uncomfortable position, forcing your eyes on him, “s’not nice to ignore me baby, answer the question”
“yes! rafe please! want to be filled with your cum, please!” you beg, tears streaming down your face, mixing with the now lukewarm water streaming from the shower head.
rafe tuts, thrusting his fingers once, curving them slightly to toy with the spongey sweet spot inside you that has your cunt tightly clenching at his fingers, pulling them in deeper, “i don’t know baby… doesn’t seem like you really want it…”
he begins to slowly pull his fingers from inside you, but your hand flys to his, keeping his hand in place, keeping his fingers buried inside you, “rafe, please! need you so fucking bad”
you hear him chuckle, removing your hand from his wrist. he begins thrusting his fingers quickly, the squelching sounds of your pussy and your moans bouncing off the shower walls.
you feel your belly tightening, your orgasm threatening to burst from you when the sound of the locker room door opens. rafe’s free hand flys to your mouth, muffling your moans.
“cameron? you still here?”
rafe sighs when he hears his coaches voice, but he doesn’t stop his fingers, pushing them slowly in and out of you, an amused smirk on his lips when he feels you bite down on his palm to keep yourself from moaning.
“uh, yeah, just wanted a quick shower before i headed out”
his coaches footsteps approaching makes your heart begin to thump rapidly in your chest, the thrill of possibly being caught making you grow wetter.
“hell of a game you had tonight, i expect that type of energy from you in the playoffs”
rafe clears his throat, “thank you coach, you know i’ll give my all in that playoff game, don’t you worry”
your eyes roll into the back of your skull, chest tightening when rafe curves his fingers again, toying at your gspot. cocky son of a bitch was getting off on this, was enjoying making you squirm when his coach was only a few feet away.
“i know you will son. alright, well i’m headed out, see you at practice tomorrow. ten am sharp, don’t be late!”
“yes sir”
his coaches footsteps recede, the sound of the door closing making rafe drop his hand from your mouth, “i knew you were a fucking slut, fuck that was hot. i think you got more turned on at the idea of him catching us, didn’t you baby?”
rafe’s words followed by the slow and sensual thrusts of his fingers send you flying over the edge, your orgasm bursting from you in leg shaking euphoria.
rafe’s fingers fuck you through your high before slowly pulling them from you. he brings his fingers to his mouth, sucking your arousal from them, a satisfied groan falling from him when he tastes you on his tongue.
he wastes no time grasping his thick cock in his hand, pumping himself a few times before he begins sliding his thick head through your folds.
you squirm, pushing your ass out further, his tip pushing into you slightly, before he pulls it back out.
“rafe!” you whine, your pussy aching to be stretched by his thick cock.
you gasp loudly, your hands slightly sliding down the wall when he shoves himself inside you, his cock stretching you out, making you walls tightly squeeze him.
“fuck, feels so good baby, so fucking wet and tight. don’t think i’ll last long if you keep squeezin’ me like that”
you’re moaning loudly, your tits bouncing with each snap of rafe’s hips. he wraps an arm around your waist, fingertips dragging down your bare stomach to your clit. he rubs slow circles around your puffy, sensitive clit, pulling more whines and whimpers from you.
you throw your head back, back arched as you begin moving your hips in sync with his, meeting each of his thrusts, pushing him further inside you.
“shit! ‘m gonna cum baby!” rafe groans, his fingers sloppily rubbing at your clit while he continues his harsh thrusts.
he runs his hand up your body, wrapping it around your throat and pulling your back flush into his front. he captures your lips in a sloppy kiss, his tongue slipping into your mouth when you moan.
you feel his thrusts growing sloppy, your walls tightly clenching around him, trying to milk him dry. he breaks the kiss, his face burying into the crook of your neck as his dick twitches, his hot cum filling you up.
his teeth nip at the skin of your neck, raspy curses and groans falling from his lips as he continues fucking into you, trying to help you reach your second orgasm of the night.
“c’mon baby, cum all over daddy’s cock, let me have it”
“fuck fuck fuck, rafe! ‘m cumming!”
the band snaps, your second orgasm rushing from you and soaking rafe’s cock.
you fall limp, his arms the only thing keeping you upright. he chuckles, placing a soft kiss to your neck and slowly pulling himself from inside you.
“took me so well baby, did such a good job. c’mon let’s get you home and in bed, okay?”
you slowly nod your head, exhaustion hitting you hard, “i love you, rafe” you breathe out, voice soft and weak as you try and catch your breath.
he quickly turns off the shower, grabbing the two of you some towels from a shelf and wrapping yours around your body, “i love you too sweet girl, now let’s get you home”

"paws off, ajax !!" you yell, even though his hands are still on your panties— "what'd i do?" he frowns.
"stop checking out my clothes, okay? you're really embarrassing already!!" you huff, slumping down on your bed— plus, he's the one who said to show him your entire outfit for dinner tomorrow.
he laughs, fingers running over the pale pink lace attatched to your thin panties, "i merely said these were a bit whorish. i mean, they are cute. but, you're only going for dinner with me." he tilts his head to your face— your cute cheeks puffed up as you pout.
"whatever. get out my room." this is why you hate visiting home during breaks, should've stayed at your college dorm you think.. instead of with this stupid idiot. actually, even if you stayed at the dorm— he goes to the same college.
he sits next to you, arm around your shoulders as he holds up your panties. "d'you have anything that covers up your pussy more?" he grins.
you slap your hands over your face, "shaddup!!" .
he looks at you, "what? don't wanna cover up your pussy? is that it?" he speaks smoothly, without wavering as he slides his hands between your legs— rubbing your pussy over your shorts.
"or maybe your slutty pussy doesn't wanna be covered."

warnings: both characters are a little mean to each other (oops), slight enemies to lovers??, a touch of slowburn??, no use of y/n, fem!reader, race inclusive!reader
You huff as you walk into the arts building on campus, tripping as your foot hits the doorframe. It’s not enough for you to fall, but it’s enough to piss you off ever more than you already are.
You’re running late, and it seems like everything is going wrong today. First, your alarm hadn’t gone off, meaning you basically had to run to campus for your 9am lecture. You walked in late, which wasn’t really a big deal, the professor paid you no mind as you walked in. It did matter, however, that you had to trip over bags and feet to the middle of an aisle, squeezing yourself into the last seat available in the lecture hall. Then, when you went to get yourself a little treat between classes at the Starbucks on campus, some guy bumped into you and made you spill half your drink on your shirt, meaning you had to race home to shower and change before going back to campus for your later class, which is where you’re heading now.
It’s your last year of college, so while you know your way around campus, it’s the first day of classes, and you’ve never had a class in the lecture hall your next class is in.
Your head is down as you look at your phone, pace slowing slightly as you triple check what room number you’re looking for when you feel a large body hit your shoulder.
“Watch it.” you hear a deep voice say as you look up from your phone, blinking slowly for a moment before something in you snaps.
You whirl around, jaw clenched as you make eye contact with perhaps the most attractive guy you’ve ever seen, not that you notice that through your rage. On any other day, you would’ve apologized and been on your way, but today, you have had enough, your patience gone.
“You ran into me.” you bark back, barely having time to think about what you’re saying. You feel a little bad as you see his eyes widen, but your thoughts are so clouded by frustration at how the day was playing out that you didn’t care. Deep down, you know he’s probably right, you weren’t watching where you were going. But he didn’t have to be a dick about it, right?
“I’m sorry, excuse me, princess.” he says sarcastically after a moment, as his surprised expression is replaced with a smirk. He hadn’t expected you to respond the way that you had, and this intrigues him. He crosses his arms over his chest, his eyes trailing down your figure, taking you in.
“Thank you! Was that so hard?” you reply in the same tone, matching his stance and crossing your arms over your chest, not even noticing the way “princess” rolled off his tongue so smoothly. You also don’t notice the way his eyes roam over your body, taking in your soft curves, the way your chest moves to keep up with the quick beating in your chest.
“Someone’s feisty, huh?” you roll your eyes at this, wanting nothing more than to be done with the incredibly handsome man and go to class. You’re already late enough, you really don’t need this.
“Only when someone deserves it.” you reply sharply, jutting your hip out as you tilt your head to the side, glaring at him.
You’re met with a scoff, and he fights back a laugh at the way you’re looking at him. You’ve got an attitude, but he’s got to admit, you’re gorgeous. The way you’re glaring at him kind of makes him want to push you against the wall and kiss your attitude away, but he also kind of likes the way you’re not backing down. He wants to keep you here. Willing to do anything to keep you standing here, he steps closer to you, licking his lips as he looks down at you, that smirk still on his face.
“You should lose the attitude, princess.” he teases, a playful glint in his eye as he sees the way you react when his words hit you. His words have the desired effect. You aren’t going anywhere.
“Or what?” you hiss, your jaw clenching at his words. You’re really not in the mood to be told off by a man who thought the world revolved around him. On any other day, you’d already be on your way, but now, you just want to slap the stupid smirk right off his stupid attractive face. And what the hell was up with the nickname?
“Or I’ll make you.” he challenges, gauging your reaction, hoping he hadn’t crossed a line. With the way you hadn’t walked away yet, he has a feeling that you weren’t going to tell him to go to hell.
You pause for a moment, suddenly taking in the look in his eyes. He was arguing with you, sure, but you had only just realized how he was looking down at you, almost flirting with you. For a moment, you’re overcome with nerves, realizing that your temper has gotten you into a situation you never thought you’d be in.
“I’d rather die.” you get out. You bite the inside of your cheek as you hold eye contact, trying to keep up with the attitude that had been blinding you earlier.
You watch as his tongue slowly traces the inside of his cheek, his lips parting as he chuckles softly. He notices the way your breath stills for a moment and you blink slowly, how his words had momentarily snapped you out of your angry haze.
He’s so close to you that you can almost feel the heat radiating off of him, but you refuse to back down, already this far into the argument.
“You might say that now, princess, but you haven’t seen me when I’m nice. I’m sure you’d like me if you dropped the attitude.” he states, eyes trailing down your figure again, taking in your cleavage peeking out from your shirt slightly, the way your clothes fall on your soft belly and thick thighs.
“That’s never gonna happen.” you say, letting out a shaky breath as you try not to look away. The class you’re currently missing comes to mind as your glare falters for a moment, and you’re suddenly very aware of how close you’re standing to a stranger in the middle of the hallway.
“Don’t be so sure, princess.” he teases, licking his lips again as his eyes study your face.
What the hell are you doing? You shouldn’t be talking to this man. You have class, and you took your frustration out on him when he mostly didn’t deserve it. You swallow, biting the inside of your cheek as your face grows hot. You have to get out of here before this goes any worse than it already has. If you don’t walk away now, you’d realize how cute he is.
“I have to go to class.” you tell him softly, a hint of coldness still in your voice as you turn on your heel, walking down the hallway and out of sight.
He watches as you walk away, his eyes shamelessly trailing down to your ass as you go. He chuckles at your hasty departure as he bites a lip. If he met you at a party, he’s sure he would’ve already made you a flustered mess for him, but you didn’t seem like the type of girl who’d be at one of his team’s parties. The way you rushed off to class like that? While part of your exit was to end the conversation, there was a hint of nervousness in your eyes that tells him you truly were late to class, and not very happy about it. He wants to see you again, wants to try to get you to lower your guard so he can get to know you at a time where your temper isn’t getting the better of you.
You let out a long sigh as soon as you get far enough away from him, and you can feel that your hands are shaking ever so slightly. Why did you do that? You should’ve just apologized and kept walking because now you were really late for class, and you had basically yelled at a guy when you were pretty sure you had run into him. He was attractive, and built. You think he’s on the football team. Your roommate has a type, and you think you remember seeing his face when she showed you the entire team roster while she forced you to play drunken smash or pass during the summer.
Now that you think of it, what the fuck? Why did he immediately tell you to watch it? And then, why did he just come onto you like that? Did he just immediately assume that you would fold and apologize if he laid on the charm? You shake your head at the thought, scoffing as you pull out your phone again, realizing you had gone the complete wrong way as you stormed away from him. You turn again, hoping he was gone when you walk back to where you ran into each other, and to your delight, he was.
You finally find your lecture hall and quickly slip in, silently celebrating when you realize that the doors were at the back of the room rather than the front, meaning you wouldn’t disturb the class. You scan the lecture hall, seeing an empty seat on an aisle a few rows from the back, and you silently make your way over. You sit down and pull your laptop out of your bag, quickly opening the class homepage to follow along as the professor goes over the syllabus.
You’re so focused on not drawing attention to yourself that you don’t notice him in the back row, eyes immediately on you as you sneak past him.
He smirks to himself, noticing the difference in your demeanor as you walk past him, head ducked, as if not to disturb anyone further by your lateness. With the way you snapped at him before, he half expects you to walk in with your head up, daring anyone to act annoyed with you as you make your way to your seat.
He keeps finding his eyes darting to the back of your head as class goes on, trying to think of a way to talk to you again, hoping you wouldn’t roll your eyes and keep walking if he tried.
You try to catch up on what the professor is saying about the syllabus, trying to add assignment and test dates to your calendar as she speaks. As the professor wraps up the class, you continue working away, trying to finish adding the dates, knowing you would forget to do it once you got home.
He stays in his seat when class ends, eyes glued to you as you keep typing on your laptop for a minute or two while the people around you start filing out. He puts his laptop away haphazardly, his eyes still trained on you as you do the same. He stands up at the same time you do and walks over to the door, standing in front of it.
You see him as he reaches the door, rolling your eyes as he blocks the way. All you want is to get home and crawl into bed, you really don’t want to deal with him right now.
“Where are you going, princess?” he teases, that stupid smirk returning to his face as he hears your sigh. He keeps far enough in front of the door that you could slip out if you really wanted to. He doesn’t want to scare you, he just wants more time with you.
“Home.” you reply shortly, crossing your arms over your chest. The way he looks down at you has you on edge again. He’s too smug for your liking, and now that your brain had time to process, you couldn’t not notice his blue eyes, his large arms. Your action doesn’t go unnoticed by him, as his eyes are immediately drawn to the way your arms push your chest up slightly.
“No more classes to run off to? No more rushing around and running into strangers?” he teases, giving you a once over.
“I didn’t run into you.” you tell him matter of factly, but your voice is not as loud as it once was. You know he’s right, but it’s far too late to change your mind. Why wouldn’t he let this go? You’re already embarrassed about the way you acted, you really don’t need him to keep reminding you.
“Ah, but you did. You were looking at your phone, trying to find your class, probably. You stormed off in the wrong direction and had to double back, didn’t you?” he says in an amused tone, chuckling softly as you raise your brows. You’re slightly surprised he’s smart enough to put two and two together.
“I might’ve apologized if you weren’t being a dick. Do you think the world revolves around you?” you fight back, waves of embarrassment hitting you as you realize that he had noticed you went the wrong way.
He doesn’t answer as his lips part slightly, running his tongue along the inside of his cheek. He takes a step ever so slightly closer to you, looking down at you with a glint in his eyes.
“You got a boyfriend?” he asks after a moment. He’s both amused and confused at your reaction to this. It’s as if you’re unsure if you should continue arguing with him, or give in and walk away, but that’s what has him so intrigued. He wants to know what you would be like behind closed doors, how you would react to his touch as his hands make their way down your body.
You scoff, shaking your head as you maneuver around him and out the door. The nerve of this guy. Why did he have to be so infuriating? And hot?
He raises his hands in mock surrender as you step around him, his gaze following you as you walk down the hall.
As you make your way out of the building, you feel yourself let out a shaky breath, biting your lip as your brain is overcome with thoughts of him. You try to get your mind off of him, taking your phone out of your pocket to text your roommate and ask her if she wants to do a movie night tonight. She immediately responds with a yes, asking what movie you had in mind, but your brain feels so foggy that you can’t even think of the endless list of movies you’ve been wanting to watch.
Instead, you think of the way he looked down at you, how his eyes trailed down your body, drinking you in. You think about the way you could see his biceps flexing under his shirt as he crossed his arms. You think about what he called you. Princess. It was weird at first, but as you keep thinking about it, you can’t help the way it makes your stomach flip. Why did he ask you if you had a boyfriend? He couldn’t have been interested in anything more than pissing you off. You shake your head to yourself as you try to clear your head, finally making it back to your apartment complex.
And him? He walks the whole way home thinking about you as well. He can’t wait to see you next week in class, hoping that you’ll have more classes together. He’s hooked, and he’s desperate to break down your walls and learn more about you.

could u write an academic enemies to lovers for kenan yildiz pleaseeee
Do I wanna know? 𖦹 Kenan Yildiz !
summary. You’d known Kenan since you were kids, you’d despised him since you were kids, and even know in college, you—oh. Maybe you didn’t?
word count. 545+
disclaimers. banter / slight enemies to lovers due to rivlary
bea speaks! didn’t even realize i’ve had this in my drafts since september i am so so sorry??? and this is kind of open ending but wtv i need it out of my drafts asap
You’d thought leaving your hometown for university would mean freedom—freedom from him. Kenan Yizdiz. But, as if the universe found pleasure in your misery, Kenan had shown up at orientation day with the same annoyingly perfect smile, acting as though he wasn’t the bane of your very existence.
You’d known Kenan for as long as you could remember, but not in the way that was heartwarming. No, he’d been your rival since grade school. Always somehow always beating you in everything. The spelling bee’s and honor rolls. Everything.
So, seeing him on orientation day was… well, infuriating.
“Fancy seeing you here,” he had drawled, leaning casually against the registration table as you signed in. “Still chasing my shadow?”
“More like trying to escape it,” you’d snapped, not even sparing him another glance. “Guess I failed that too.”
Now, three years later, Kenan is still somehow everywhere. In your classes. In the library. Everywhere. He’s still the same old Kenan—competitive, cocky, and stupidly good at everything he does.
But that wasn’t even the worst part. It was the way his smug grin grows wider every time he beats you (which is annoyingly often.)
The final straw comes when you were both nominated for the same prestigious academic award for your class. Today, you’d caught him the library with dozens of books spread around his study table.
“You’re really trying to win this, huh?” You ask, slamming your book into the table across from him.
Kenan’s gaze flickers up to you, unimpressed. “What gave it away, genius? The mountain of research around me or the fact that I’m not out partying like a dog like you act like I do?”
Okay, attitude.
“Hard work doesn’t make you special, Yildiz,” you shoot back. “It simply makes you tolerable.”
“Funny.” He counters quickly, leaning back into his chair. “I was just thinking the same thing about you.”
The two of you lock eyes, and for a moment something shifts. You were so used to the banter, the constant push and pull, that it takes you by surprise when his smug smirk.. softens?
“Why do you even hate me so much?” He asks, voice dropping into a quieter tone, breaking the silent tension. “You’ve been acting like this since we were kids. Like I stole your puppy or something.”
Your posture straightens and you shift on your feet uncomfortably. “Well, Frank did run to you before me that once.” You scoff at the memory of your childhood dog and Kenan, “and, I don’t hate you, Kenan. I just don’t like losing to you. That’s all.”
The brunettes lips twitch into a grin, “Is that so? Because I don’t mind losing to you.”
That.. well, it shut you up. Your eyes lock on his, stunned, while he gathers his books. As he walks past, he leans down just enough to whisper in your ear, his hot breath painting your cheeks a crimson red.
“Maybe if you stopped trying so hard to beat me—to dislike me, you’d realize we could make a really good team.”
Then he leaves.
Leaving you standing there, pulse racing, wondering what the hell just happened. And when did your agitating rival become someone who made your heart stutter.
Better yet, did you want to know?

The drive to the location Toji sent you feels longer than it should. Maybe it’s because your mind is racing, or maybe it’s the late hour amplifying the stillness of the world outside. You pull into the dimly lit park, heart pounding, and spot him immediately—slouched on a bench, an empty whiskey bottle dangling precariously from his fingers. He looks utterly defeated, the sharp edges of his usual confidence dulled by whatever demons have led him here.
You step out of the car and approach cautiously. His head tilts slightly at the sound of your footsteps, but he doesn’t fully acknowledge you. Instead, he mumbles something incoherent, his words slurred.
“Toji.” Your voice is firm, sharper than you intended. “Get up. You’re coming with me. Your parents can‘t see you like this.“
He looks up at you with bleary eyes, his face flushed from alcohol. “Y-you came,” he slurs, his words tumbling over each other. “Missed you… swear I missed you. I’m sorry, okay? For everything. Just… I’m sorry.”
You don’t reply, don’t give him the satisfaction of even a hint of forgiveness right now. Instead, you focus on getting him upright, looping one of his heavy arms over your shoulders and guiding him to the car. His steps are unsteady, his weight pressing into you as he leans more than he should.
The entire drive back, he’s rambling. “You… you don’t get it,” he slurs, his head lolling back against the seat. “You think I’m just some… some asshole, huh? You hate me. I can’t… I hate me too, okay?” His words are fragmented but raw, the emotions behind them impossible to ignore.
You grip the steering wheel tighter, keeping your focus on the road. He keeps going, his voice breaking every now and then. “I never wanted to hurt you… never wanted to… God, you probably think I’m a piece of shit.”
You don’t respond. You just drive, his drunken words filling the silence.
When you finally reach your apartment, you manage to drag him inside. He’s heavier than he looks, and he isn’t exactly helping. As soon as you guide him into your room, he collapses onto your bed, sprawling across it like he owns the place.
“Toji, get up,” you say, exasperated.
“Nah,” he mutters, burying his face into your pillow. “This is… I’m good here.”
You roll your eyes, but there’s no real malice behind it. Instead, you sigh and kneel down, tugging his shoes off one by one. When you straighten up, his eyes are on you, glassy but sincere.
“You’re… too good,” he murmurs. “Too good for me. Always have been. Don’t deserve you… don’t deserve this.”
“Toji, just sleep,” you say, voice softer than before, despite your frustration.
He doesn’t listen. “I’m sorry,” he continues, his voice breaking. “For everything I said. For… all of it. You… you didn’t deserve that. Not you.”
Your chest tightens at his words, but you don’t respond. Instead, you awkwardly climb into bed beside him, keeping as much distance as possible.
“I mean it,” he mumbles, his voice barely above a whisper now. “You’re… you’re the only good thing. Always have been. I just… I ruin everything.”
Tears sting at your eyes, but you blink them away. “We’ll talk in the morning, Toji,” you whisper, your voice trembling.
He nods faintly, and before long, his breathing evens out. You lie awake for a while, your mind racing with everything he’s said.
When you wake, the sunlight streaming through the window, you’re wrapped in his arms. His grip is loose but firm enough to hold you in place. You tilt your head slightly, studying his face in the soft morning light. There’s a scar on his lip, jagged and slightly faded. It hits you, a memory he once let slip years ago—that his older brother, Jinichi, gave him that scar during a fight. What had struck you most then was how casually he’d mentioned it, as if it were normal.
The thought churns uneasily in your stomach. His parents never punished Jinichi for it, just like they never seemed to care about all the other ways they neglected him. No wonder he resented his family, always carrying that bitterness like a second skin.
You carefully extract yourself from his hold, slipping out of bed without waking him. After a quick trip to the kitchen, you return with a glass of water, some painkillers, and a simple breakfast.
To your surprise, he’s already awake when you walk in. He sits up slowly, rubbing his eyes, and you wordlessly hand him the plate.
“Thanks,” he mutters, his voice hoarse.
The two of you eat in silence, the tension in the room palpable.
When you finally break the quiet, your voice is steady but firm. “Do you want to talk about last night?”
He glances at you, then looks away, his fingers fidgeting with the edge of the blanket. “Yeah,” he says, barely audible.
You wait, giving him the space to speak.
“I’m sorry,” he finally says, his voice low. “For… everything. I ain’t good with this… this kinda shit, but… I know I fucked up. A lot.”
“You did,” you say, your voice soft but unyielding. “And I can’t just… pretend like everything’s okay now. You’ve hurt me, Toji. A lot more than you probably realize.”
He nods, still not meeting your eyes. “I know. And I ain’t expectin’ you to just… forgive me like that. But… I’m gonna make it right. However long it takes.”
You study him for a moment before nodding. “We can try… being friends. Maybe.”
His lips twitch into something that almost resembles a smile. “Yeah. Friends.”
Neither of you mentions the way you woke up tangled in each other’s arms.
As you clear the dishes, Toji sits back, lost in thought. In his mind, he recalls waking up in the middle of the night, your face illuminated by the moonlight. He remembers thinking how beautiful you looked, how peaceful.
Your full lips had been slightly parted as you slept, and his hand had rested lightly on your hip, almost as if it belonged there. He’d never noticed the softness of your skin before, but last night it had been impossible to ignore.
It hit him then, like a punch to the gut. You were… everything. Too good, too kind, too beautiful.

–––––
You hear Nat cheer beside you as you watch Steve catch the ball that was thrown to him. “That’s my man!” she exclaims as you take a swig of water, watching the football team as they prepare for an upcoming game.
This wasn’t your normal scene. If you’d ask your freshman self if she’d be willing to sit in the sweltering heat to watch sweaty men push each other around, she would laugh it off and turn back to binge watching her favorite show on Netflix. It wasn’t until you started dating one of the university’s linebackers, Bucky Barnes, did you even begin to consider watching football matches and turning up to their practices all together.
“Come on, lighten up! Your man’s over there too,” Nat pipes up, briefly looking over at you before turning back to watch the team. You chuckle as your eyes land on his figure. You couldn’t exactly see his face, but you were able to spot him in the field considering you’ve been dating for about 4 months now. You let out a cheer as you watch him tackle another player to the ground. His head snaps towards the direction of your voice as he stands up. You can’t see it, but you knew he was smiling. He puts his hand on his chest before pointing at you, his way of saying, “That one’s for you!”
You grin, cheeks heating up at his gesture as you feel your chest swell. Nat turns to you, a sly smirk on her face as she sips her iced coffee. “I take it that things with you two are going well?” she asks, making you tear your attention away from the field. You grin even wider before answering, “Yeah, things are great.”
You have to admit, you’d never think you would end up dating a football player– and when Bucky approached you one night at a random party to ask you out, you halfheartedly said yes, expecting that he would just take you to a random sports bar and try to hook up with you the same night. Fortunately, the date went better than expected with him bringing you to his favorite taco truck downtown and driving you to one of those retro drive-in movie theaters. However, he failed to check what movie they were playing that night and had the both of you watch a random Scandinavian film with no subtitles. In the end, the two of you decided on staying in the car and get to know each other more with the movie long discarded in the background.
Eventually, you ended up going on a few more dates after that and got to know how sweet he really was. Sure, he was still a jock and was still getting a hang of being in a committed relationship, but you could see him actively put the effort in it so you were more than happy.
You hear their coach blow his whistle, signaling the end of their practice which prompts you and Nat to jump from your seats and head down to the field to meet Bucky and Steve. Nat gets there first, crashing into Steve’s embrace, almost knocking him over. You laugh at the interaction before your eyes land on Bucky’s. With his helmet off, you have the opportunity to finally see his face. His hair was flat from his helmet with a few strands clinging to his forehead, the eye black on his cheeks smudged due to the sweat, and his mouth stretched into that boyish grin you grew to love.
“What’s a pretty girl like you doing in a place like this?” he asks playfully as you approach him. He puts his helmet down to wipe the beads of sweat on his face. “Just looking for some hot jocks to kiss,” you tease, earning a laugh from him before he wraps his arms around your waist. “Find anyone you like?” he plays along. You smile, snaking your arms to the back of his neck. “Oh, yeah, I got one right here,” you giggle as you pull him into a kiss. It was soft and slow, and you could taste the saltiness of the sweat on his upper lip, but you didn’t care.
“Hello to you too, dollface,” you hear him mumble between your lips before pulling away. “I’m taking Steve to that new pizza place that just opened near campus, come with us?” he asks, shaking his head which elicited droplets of sweat to fly towards you much to your disgust. “You’re such a boy for doing that,” you grumbled. “But yeah, count me in.”
He smiles, but before he could get another word in, Nat interjects, “Count me in, too!”
Bucky shakes his head, “Nuh uh, you’re not invited. Steve told me how sick he was of you and how loud you snore when you sleep.” Nat gasps before playfully hitting Steve in the chest, earning an “ow” from him. “You told Bucky?!” she shrieks, but before she could protest even more, Steve pulls her into a kiss, muttering a quick “I love you”, then runs towards the shower room. Bucky turns back to you, giving you a swift kiss. “Pick you, guys, up in 20.”
As he was leaving, he looks back over at Nat and lets out a few loud snores, prompting her to throw a handful of dirt towards him. “Screw you, Buchanan!”
–––––
A few days later, Bucky walks out of the field, his bag hanging from his shoulder, a cold breeze brushing through him as he begins to walk back to campus. “Hey, Buck, solid practice today,” Sam Wilson, one of the tackles, pipes up from behind him. “Yeah, man, good job today,” Bucky replies, giving his teammate a fist bump. “Me and Parker are gonna grab a few drinks, you coming?”
Bucky laughs, the thought of Parker getting tipsy over a few pints entering his mind. He shakes his head, “I’ll pass tonight, man. Might go see my girl.”
Sam smirks before clasping a hand on Bucky’s shoulder. “Alright, see you around.”
“Hey, take care of Parker, alright? Don’t want his aunt to find out he got wasted over a few cocktails!” Bucky calls out, earning a cackle from his teammate as he walks away.
He checks the time to find out practice ended a few minutes early so he sends you a quick message, knowing you’re probably still in class.
hey doll practice finished early
want me to walk you to your dorm? i should be able to swing by to pick you up from class
He waits for a few minutes before hearing a ping from his phone, gaze immediately falling to the screen.
no need. didn’t go to class today wasn’t feeling well.
oh? you want me to bring you some soup?
no its ok. thank u tho
anything for you, baby
do you want me to come over tho?
maybe next time, bucky. sorry
Bucky frowns, taking notice of the difference in the way you typed. You were colder than usual and you’d usually want to see him even when you weren’t feeling the best. He’s a bit disappointed too, wanting to take care of you until you get better, but knows to respect your wishes. So he brushes it off.
He shoots you a quick text saying he hopes you feel better soon before messaging Sam to say he’ll catch up with him and Parker in a few.
Looks like he’ll take up Sam’s offer after all.
–––––
Bucky cranes his neck over to the bleachers, but frowns when his eyes land on Nat sitting alone. You didn’t come to his practice today. Bucky would’ve been fine about it, but he knows you didn’t have any conflicting classes at this time and you would’ve messaged him beforehand if you weren’t able to come for whatever reason.
“Maybe she’s still feeling under the weather,” Steve reasons, following his best friend’s gaze towards the seats.
Bucky nods absentmindedly in response, “Yeah, I guess so.”
He was trying so hard to hide the fact that he was getting increasingly worried. He also doesn’t want to seem too clingy considering you’ve only been seeing each other for a short time. He’s only been in a handful of serious relationships before, and most of them happened when he was still a clueless teenager in highschool. You were the first person he was willing to be fully committed to after a few months of fooling around in college so he definitely does not want to screw things up.
After practice, he asks Nat if she knew where you were only to find out that Nat was just as clueless as he was. With a huff, Bucky fishes his phone out of his pocket.
missed you at practice today. still feeling sick?
“Hey,” Steve calls from behind him, Nat trailing closely behind. “Nat and I are gonna go study at the library, see you there?”
Bucky snorts. “By study at the library you mean get frisky by the shelves at the back? Yeah, I think I’ll pass.”
Steve laughs as Nat drags him away from the field, patting Bucky’s back comfortingly before fully parting ways. This action goes unnoticed as Bucky’s eyes remain glued to his phone, waiting for your reply.
A few minutes pass and he grows antsy. He hesitantly types another message.
baby?
This time, you read the message, but still don’t reply. Bucky runs his hand through his hair, a sign that he was growing anxious. He looks around the field, desperately trying to find someone to talk to so he could take his mind off of you. To his dismay, the rest of the team either left or were still in the showers.
Bucky thinks about his next move.
i’m coming over.
He quickly stuffs his phone in his pocket and practically sprints over to your dorm, a million things racing in his mind. His chest tightens at the thought of you being in trouble, not really knowing what to expect when he sees you. If he sees you.
Bucky shakes his head to get rid of the image of him turning up at your dorm only to find it empty– he wouldn’t know where to begin looking for you considering you won’t reply to his messages. This is the first time you acted like this towards him, and Bucky tries to recall everything he’s said to you lately, attempting to think of anything that could have upset you. His pace slows down as he begins to question if he was overthinking things, his mind tricking him into thinking that he was being too clingy and it might turn you off. But with the absence of your replies and the assurance that you’re okay, Bucky’s strides become bigger and he picks up speed towards your dorm.
A head of brown hair meets his gaze as the door to your apartment swings open upon his knock. “Hey, Wanda,” Bucky greets your roommate, chest heaving and beads of sweat adorning his forehead. “I’m sorry for barging in all of a sudden. Is she..?”
Before he could finish his sentence, Wanda nods, opening the door wider for him to come in. Bucky nods his head as he enters. “She’s in her room,” Wanda mumbles before closing the door behind him.
Bucky mutters a “thank you” before walking towards your door, about to turn the handle, but hesitates for a second. Slowly taking his hand off the brass knob, he raises a hand and places two soft knocks on the door. “Doll,” he calls, loud enough that he’s sure you hear him, but gentle enough to not startle you. When he doesn’t hear a reply, he continues, “Can I come in?”
A few seconds later, a soft click from the other side fills his ears. Bucky takes this as a signal to slowly turn the knob and peak inside. He barely caught a glimpse of you walking back to your bed before he sees you pull the covers back to climb in, reassuming the position he figured you were in before you unlocked the door.
Bucky steps inside and if it wasn’t for him shutting the door behind him, separating the two of you from the noises outside your bedroom, he wouldn’t have heard the sniffles that were coming out of your mouth. Your back was facing him, but he can clearly tell that you were hugging your knees to your chest as you tried to control your breathing, desperately attempting to conceal your cries.
“Baby…” he breathes, approaching you cautiously and planting himself by your feet. Only then does he catch a glimpse of your face, your eyes puffy and cheeks tinted pink, presumably from crying for an extended period of time. Bucky frowns upon seeing you in this state. He’s seen you cry before, but it was usually from a sad movie or being stressed with homework. He doesn’t know why you are crying now, but he’s determined to find out. He places a hand on one of your calves and begins to rub soothing circles on it. “Did something happen?”
You shake your head, not trusting your voice as you begin to wipe the tears that were still trickling down your cheeks. “Wanna tell me why you’re crying?” Bucky persists, eyes still fixed on you. You shrug and the room falls silent as you close your eyes.
Bucky hears you take a deep breath before finally piping up. “Just feeling a little down,” you mumble, voice hoarse and barely loud enough for Bucky to catch. He moves his hand from your calf to one of your feet, giving it a soft squeeze before beginning to slowly press on its sole, easing the tense muscles and giving you a brief moment of peace.
Bucky tries to think of what to say, but is interrupted by the sound of his phone going off. Clicking his tongue, he grabs his phone to find a text from Pietro.
hey wya? im at the study hall
Cursing to himself, he suddenly remembers that he and Pietro agreed to meet tonight to work on a project they were partners in. Typing a quick reply to say that he’s on his way, he turns back to you before leaning over to press a kiss on your temple. “We all get blue sometimes, doll. We just gotta hang on, you know?” he attempts to comfort you, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “I gotta run, promised Pietro we’d do that project tonight. But I hope you feel better soon, baby. If you need anything, just text me, okay?”
–––––
You don’t text him at all that night.
In fact, if it wasn’t for the good morning text Bucky sent the next day, Bucky thinks you wouldn’t have texted him at all. Your replies grew colder and you became more distant, and Bucky was suffering.
“Dude, what’s up? If you’re not busy being a total grump, you’re staring at your phone like you’re expecting something to pop out of it,” Steve points out as he, Bucky, and Nat sit in the cafeteria to have lunch. Bucky grumbles before slamming his phone face down on the table and sliding it away from him. “It’s (Y/N),” he starts, “she’s been acting off for days now.”
Steve and Nat share a look before Nat pipes up, “Have you tried asking her why?” Bucky scoffs. “Well, duh!” Bucky exclaims, running his hands through his hair. “I went over to her’s last night, but she just told me she was just feeling a little down.”
“And what did you say?” Steve asks. Bucky’s eyes meet his friend’s as he sighs. “I told her everyone gets sad and that we should just hang on. I left after that because I had to do that history project with Maximoff.”
The table falls silent and Bucky begins to zone out, thinking that the conversation would end there, but is quickly brought back to reality when something hits him dead center in the face. “Ow!” Bucky shouts as his hand flies up to cradle his nose. His eyes land on the table, a bread roll laying in front of him, causing his gaze to shoot up at the red head sitting across him. “Did you just throw a bread roll at me?” Bucky asks, his eyes wide with disbelief and confusion.
“Well, duh!” Nat mocks, rolling her eyes at the brunette. “I always thought football players were dumb because of how much trauma their heads go through every game, but you’re on a whole ‘nother level, Buchanan.”
Bucky blinks. “Care to elaborate?”
Nat lets out an exasperated sigh before Steve butts in, “She’s obviously going through something, Buck. You can’t just tell her to suck it up.”
“Hellooooo!” Nat interjects, waving her hand in front of Bucky’s face as if what they were pointing out was the most obvious thing in the world. “She isn’t some jock going through a losing streak or something, actually be there for her, you know?”
“Would you cut me some slack? It’s the first serious relationship I’ve been in since highschool, I’m still getting a hang of things again,” Bucky glares. He eyes the bread roll in front of him before giving in and grabbing it to take a bite. Nat watches him, a look of disgust adorning her face.
The three of them sit in silence as Bucky contemplates on what to do. He picks up his phone to see no new messages from you, but his eyes catch the time. He knows you don’t have classes right now, and he figures you would just be in your dorm. He doesn’t want to ruin things with you, so he jolts up from his seat, catching the attention of the couple in front of him. “I’m gonna fix this,” he mumbles to himself before storming out of the cafeteria to head over to you.
“Atta boy!” Steve calls after him.
Bucky can feel his heart in his throat as he shakily knocks on your front door. To his surprise, you answer the door this time. His mouth starts to form a smile, but quickly turns into a frown when he takes in your form. At first, his heart skipped a beat when he noticed that you were wearing one of his shirts which was too big for you, the hem of it ending just by your thighs, and the bottom of one of his boxers peeking through it.
But once he caught the way your shoulders were slumped and the dark circles around your eyes, he knew better than to celebrate. “Hey,” he exhales, flashing a sad smile, “can I come in?”
You nod wordlessly before leaving the door ajar and making your way towards the couch. Bucky steps inside, shutting the door behind him before following suit. He sighs when he sees you on the couch, knees tucked closely to your chest and you watch whatever show is playing on the TV, eyes in an absent daze.
He takes a seat beside you, draping an arm across the back of the couch only for you to launch yourself towards him like it’s a reflex. You wrap your arms around his waist and bury your face into his chest as he instinctively encases you in an embrace. Bucky’s heart breaks as he hears you rack out a sob, his thumb beginning to rub circles on your shoulder.
He gently places a kiss on your forehead as he feels his shirt become damp with your tears. “I’m sorry for leaving so soon the last time I was here,” he mumbles, lips still pressed to your temple.
You don’t answer back right away and Bucky is forced to listen to you cry, his heart shattering after every noise that comes out of your mouth.
“It’s just a drag,” you say between sniffles, “the world’s so mean.”
Bucky furrows his eyebrows, not really understanding what you mean, but tries to think of something to say. His conversation with Steve and Nat replay in his mind as he desperately thinks of a reply, determined not to mess things up like last time.
“Do you want to talk about it?” he asks, testing out the waters. He takes note of your silence and whispers, “Something’s breaking my baby’s heart and I wanna know what.”
You let out a soft huff. “That’s the problem. I don’t know why I feel so down.”
The room falls silent. Bucky could hear his heartbeat in his ears, he felt his hands grow sweaty, his throat became dry, and his eyes began to prickle as tears started to form. He prays to whoever was listening before he asks.
“Is it me?”
“No, god no,” you shoot up, detaching yourself from him much to his dismay. Your eyes wide as he stares back at you with the same expression. Bucky looks down and begins to fiddle with his hands, another nervous tick of his, and you realize why he’s been so persistent about finding out what was making you upset.
Bucky was afraid that he was the reason you’re in pain.
You attempt to pacify his thoughts by placing your hands on both sides of his face. Bucky lets out a shaky breath as he leans into one of your hands, peppering it with feather-like kisses. You give him a teary smile. “It’s just that life’s so hard sometimes, you know?”
Bucky gives you a smile in return, a smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes as he stares at you, trying to dig through the deepest parts of his brain to come up with something, anything, that could possibly make you feel better.
But before he could, you remove your hands from his cheeks and place them on your own as you wipe tears that you didn’t even know were flowing down your face. You stand up, causing Bucky to look at you in confusion. “You should go.”
“What? No,” he protests, standing up following you as you begin to walk towards the front door. Bucky’s mind is racing.
Come on, dumbass, say something. Anything!
He opens his mouth, “Baby–”
“I just need to rest, Buck,” you interrupt, opening the door. “It’s not you, I promise.”
You press a kiss on his cheek as he looks down at you with sad eyes.
You let out a small smile, “I’ll text you, okay?”
–––––
But you don’t.
You don’t text him even the day after that.
Bucky’s mind was spinning. He felt absolutely helpless, and if it wasn’t for the harsh sound of a whistle filling his ears, he wouldn’t have snapped out of his daze.
“Barnes!” the voice of his coach was enough for him to remember that he was in fact in the middle of the football field in the middle of practice. “I don’t know what’s wrong with you lately, but if you can’t pull yourself together then you’re benched for the next game. You hear me?” the coach shouts from across the field.
Bucky nods absentmindedly before shouting back, “Sorry, coach!”
He shakes his head, trying to retain focus and deciding to pay you one more visit later. Bucky didn’t know what to do nor say, but he sure isn’t leaving your dorm without mending things.
He sets those thoughts aside for now, and turns his attention back to his team.
Bucky figured he had totally zoned out during practice because it was only when Steve sat beside him did he realize that practice was over. “(Y/N) still not feeling okay?” Steve asks, sympathy dripping from his every word as he looks at Bucky whose eyes were going through all of the unanswered texts he sent you today.

Bucky drops his head in his hands, tears threatening to spill. “I don’t know what to do anymore, Stevie,” he croaks. “I just wanna see her smile again.”
–––––
He’s met with Wanda again as the door to your dorm swings open. “Is she here?” Bucky stutters, not even bothering to apologize for showing up unannounced. Wanda shakes her head, “No, she’s been gone since last night.”
Bucky’s eyes widen as he swears he almost felt his heart stop at Wanda’s words. His breathing quickens and his chest grows tight as Wanda ushers him into the apartment. “What do you mean she’s been gone since last night? Has she talked to you today?” Wanda shakes her head again, “I’ve been texting her since this morning, but she hasn’t replied to any of it.”
Bucky runs his hands through his hair as he begins to think about what could’ve happened to you. He starts to make a list of who to call, frantically trying to think of ways to locate you. This was it, he thought. This was how he lost you forever. If he just knew what to say at the right time, if he had just been a good boyfriend to you, this wouldn’t have happened and you wouldn’t be gone.
He can’t breathe, his mind begins to scramble and his vision turns foggy. Bucky clutches a hand to his chest to try and ground himself, forcing himself to think.
Think, Barnes, think!
Just as he was about to dial 911, they hear the sound of keys rattling from the other side of the door causing both his and Wanda’s heads to snap towards its direction. Bucky holds his breath, uttering a dozen prayers in his head, hoping that it was you.
It’s only when he sees you walk through the door did the tears finally start to flow. He bounds over to you and instantly throws his arms around you, pushing your head towards his chest. Bucky silently thanks whoever granted his prayers as one of his hands fly to rest behind your head before placing a bruising kiss on your forehead. After this, he rests his chin on top of your head and looks up, desperately trying to keep any more tears at bay.
“I’ve been worried sick, doll, where were you?” he asks, trying to hide the fact that he’s been crying, but the crack in his voice gives it away. “Hmpff mff humff,” he hears you mumble against his chest, drawing a teary chuckle from him as he pulls away. “Sorry, come again?”
“I went over to my parents to try and cheer myself up, I’m sorry I should’ve told you where I was going, I had my phone off the whole day and—”
“Oh, sweetheart,” Bucky laughs breathlessly, pulling you back into him. “I’m just glad you’re okay.”
He sees Wanda slowly retreat back into her room to give you space. The two of you stand there in silence, holding each other as you relish in the feeling of being in each other’s arms.
“I don’t know if I’m okay, honestly,” you say, quietly.
“And that’s perfectly fine, too,” Bucky replies, cradling your face in his hands. “Listen I know I haven’t been dealing with this as best as I could but—”
“No, Bucky–”
“Let me finish, doll. I know I'm still trying to find my footing with all of this, but I want you to know that I'll be here no matter what, okay? When you’re happy, when you’re sad, or even when you don’t know what you’re feeling.”
You smile at him gratefully, resting your hands on top of his. “I don’t know what’s been going on with me recently. I think college is just getting to me or something. It feels like I always wanna find the rain even on a sunny day, you know?”
Bucky continues to stare into your eyes, sadness glazing over them. You shake your head and begin to pull away, “Forget it, it sounds stupid–”
“Woah hey, no,” Bucky interjects, placing his hands on your hips. “It doesn’t sound stupid. I may not fully understand what you’re feeling, but I’m here, aren’t I?”
You shake your head. “I really don’t wanna drag you into this, you have so many things on your plate–”
You’re interrupted by Bucky placing his lips on yours, engulfing you in a kiss so passionate, it takes your breath away.
“But I’m in it for the long run with you,” he mutters against your lips.
You stumble because for the months you’ve been together, the future never really fell into conversation between the two of you. With your schedules being so hectic, you and Bucky wordlessly settled with just going with the flow, and you were fine with that. But upon hearing the words leave Bucky’s lips, you began to think what this meant.
Bucky tenderly places his hands back on your cheeks, rubbing them softly in order to soothe you. “If it feels like life is dragging you down, then hang on ‘cause I'll be your bodyguard,” he starts, earning a soft chuckle from you which urges him to continue. “If you feel like the whole world is a red flag, then I'll be with you to look for the green, and hell, if you wanna find rain on a sunny day then I’ll be there to dance all through the pain with you, doll.”
Tears start to flow down your face, once again, as you smile. You smile in a way that Bucky hasn’t seen from you for the past few days. He smiles back.
“But you gotta try to talk to me, okay?” he pipes up, wiping your tears with his thumbs before pressing another kiss on the top of your head. “I know I’m a meathead, but I promise I wanna try to understand what you’re feeling so I can help.”
You nod against his lips as Bucky lets out a breath. You stay that way for a while, and Bucky was already satisfied with how the conversation turned out, vowing himself not to push you further into talking things out. It isn’t until he hears you mumble the words he’s been longing to tell you for so long that he feels his world come to a halt.
“I love you.”
This is the first time these words were uttered between the two of you, and Bucky feels his chest tighten again, but this time, it was due to an overwhelming sense of joy. He pulls you tighter against him before breathing out, “I love you too. So much.”
It was then Bucky realized that he didn’t need to mend things when you’re feeling this way. As much as he’d like to take away the pain, he knew that reminding you that he’ll always be there despite it is, and always will be, enough.

Wildest Dreams: Part 5
The ball in his hands had been tossed back and forth aimlessly, his eyes fixating on the bright white stitching that held the leather together and had been engrained with the school’s logo on the side.
It was all a distraction while he played the waiting game with Bucky, hopeful that you would still make an appearance at their practice.
They had been talking about it since the Dean’s office, the two alphas discussing how they could manage to get the three of you to move forward in friendship and then a relationship, drawing from your shared past as motivation to solidify your future.
And still, it had depended on their hope that they would see you in the stands with some of the other omegas and girls that had been invited to watch. The invitation had to be made and cleared by the security for the team and stadium, and there would’ve been a pass left for you to enter the stadium.
“She’s going to be here,” Steve mumbled under his breath as a reminder to himself, another hopeful wish that he’d look over and see you waiting for him; for them.
Steve and Bucky had been rendered eager by the promise you made to watch their practices, and even as hopeful as they were, they wondered if you would skip out on them. There were always some doubts that you would let your anger and your hurt, your past abandonment overshadow the chance to be together again.
Whether you would let that go slowly and make an effort to be with them, even starting as friends, or hold onto it was almost debilitating.
Steve had held his breath and bit his tongue while he was tossing the ball back and forth, his gaze briefly darting through the crowd of players to find Bucky. Their eyes met, blu-green with crystalline blues, and a smile built on both the alpha’s faces. A form of silent communication bounced between Steve and Bucky, a message sent and received with a wink and purse of his lips.
The two alphas were so close, so well bound and familiar with each other that it seemed like they could have entire conversations and not say a single thing. It was an extension of the connection you three once had together and hopefully would have again.
“She’s going to come.” Steve tucked the ball under his arm exhaling the puff of air he had kept in while slowly traversing to the edge of the field where his helmet had remained on the steel bench, set beside the bag of medical gear the team’s first aid staff had.
He had stooped to the bench and sank upon the metal, his leg and feet stretched out in front of him.
He slammed the ball upon the hard surface and ran his fingers through his hair, watching Bucky screwing around with a few of the linemen, specifically the defensive tackle and the defensive end. The two defensive players were just as tall as Steve and Bucky were, though Sam had been far broader than even Steve was, and Ari was far more physically imposing.
Both Sam and Ari, surprisingly, made Steve and Bucky feel small.
“Practice is starting, get your helmet on.” The assistant coach had directed his attention toward Steve and then nodded his head in the direction of the space behind Steve.
The dirty blonde whipped his head around, a grin wide and bold bursting on his face when he spotted you sitting in the lower middle. You weren’t paying attention to Steve or Bucky, you were having a conversation with Rhys as she waved her hands animatedly, relaying some eclectic tale of her wonder.
The two of you weren’t aware that Steve or Bucky had been staring at you, though Steve almost preferred your indifference. With you paying attention to Rhys and not him, Steve could study you and commit every detail of you and your appearance on the stand as if he was going to be judged or tested.
He was amazed at how beautiful and adorable an omega like you could have appeared, how breathtaking you could be in a cable-knit school toque and an oversized pale lavender Karbon fall jacket, with only the appearance of a sweater poking above the hem of the hood.
Despite it still being fall and just barely on the cusp of a potential early winter, the air and weather had taken a sour turn. There was still endless potential for warm weathered fall days, and months before the season ended on December 11th, however, the area was being battered by a cold snap.
“Rogers!” the coach had called his name, Rhys and yourself turning your head to look at him.
Steve reacted as if a jolt of lightning had shot through him, standing in earnest. He rose to his feet quickly and snatched his helmet from the bench seat, taking a single step before he looked back at you and smiled small.
“I knew she would come.” Steve exchanged a whisper to Bucky in passing, the two bumping hips with each other.
“Never doubted it for a second.” Bucky grinned, placing a kiss on Steve’s cheek with a firm pat on the ass before he stepped on the field with Steve, Bucky helped yank Steve’s helmet on his head before pulling his own on.
Bucky turned his head and looked your way.
He watched you as you fiddled with your phone before you slipped it back in your pocket, drawing your eyes upon Steve and Bucky before looking away. You dropped your gaze to the bench beside you and your bag that you found mildly interesting, or maybe it was the spine of whatever book you had packed. It was probably your thought that maybe you would get bored and need something to read, instead of focusing on the crash coming from the field.
“Rogers! Barnes! Quit screwing around and run your play!” Bucky’s lips were tugged into a smirk, and he found himself glancing over his shoulder toward Steve, blue-green and blue meeting before the sharp sting of the whistle from their coach redirected their attention.
Your fingers ran over the ridge in the stadium seat over and over, treating the hard edge like it was a stress ball rather than something to be sat on. Your eyes had been glued to the field as they ran play after play, each more impressive than the last, with pristine functionality.
Though you didn’t understand the exact details of their practice you were amazed by the speed and the force that was put behind each whip of the ball or tackle that would’ve rendered you a pancake on the turf. It was improbable that you could have ever been as quick on your feet or carried enough strength to throw a man into the grass without hesitation, though it was almost amusing to imagine yourself on the field with them.
When practice had first started, you were debating with yourself to read the book you had brought with you, thinking that there would be nothing interesting about the players going at each other like modern gladiators, and yet you were deridingly entranced.
You were so taken by the team, so enamoured by the skills and tactics they had used on the field, leaving you caught by surprise when someone had come to sit beside you.
A shock that resulted in you finally using your book though not as intended, rather it was a weapon to whack the unsuspecting and young alpha across the shoulder and bicep with as much force as you could muster.
“I’m part of the team!” The brown hair and brown-eyed alpha had squeaked, batting you off with a wave of his hand and a plea for you to quit beating on him. “I’m Peter!”
“Announce yourself!” You huffed in retaliation and shoved your book back into your bag, side-eyeing the alpha when he settled himself beside you, rubbing his sore shoulder and bicep.
He didn’t inherently give you the impression of being an alpha you should have feared or wanted to get away from, rather he almost seemed as if he could have been an omega like yourself.
This alpha looked younger than he probably was and while he seemed smaller than almost all of the players on the field, a second look at him gave you the impression that he was not as weak or frail as you may have suspected.
“If you’re on the team then why aren’t you on the field?” Your suspicion of him had tapered off just enough to not hit him when he leaned forward and leaned in, his hands folded in front of him.
“Well, technically I’m on the team. I’m a freshman and second-string. Second string-“
“You’re a backup player, I get the gist.” You drew your eyes away from Peter, glancing toward the field and the two alphas who drove you mad.
Steve and Bucky were speaking to one of the defensive players, the one you thought was defensive end, the three of them speaking quietly amongst each other in a little troupe of gossip that had only been cut short with the sharp whistle. The last play of practice had been called and as the players took their positions and readied themselves to run the ball, Peter had spoken again.
“So your Steve and Bucky’s omega?” He drew your attention toward him, looking at you with curiosity, his brown eyes reflective and reminiscent of a puppy dog gaze if you had ever seen one.
“I’m not their omega, I’m their friend.” You corrected Peter, gaze flitting back and forth between the game and the alpha beside you, humming under your breath after the final play had gone through and been run to near perfection.
Steve and Bucky didn’t spare a thought, they hadn’t waited a moment before they yanked their helmets off and set them on the bench, planning to retrieve them later after they had come to greet you. You decided to meet them halfway, and after you had gathered your things, you started making your way down the stairs of the stadium.
You were stopped halfway down, your nose scrunching as you picked up the heady scent of sweat and grime from the turf and any residual dirt, the aroma making you grit your teeth. You wanted to protest any physical contact with the two alphas, planning on making a demand for a shower first, however, Steve and Bucky had taken the chance from you.
Bucky had grabbed you first, encasing his arms around you with an overeager reach. He lifted you from the stands as if you weighed nothing, his voice coming out in a seductive purr, almost as if he was a cat rubbing against its favourite scratching post.
“You stink! Bucky get off!” You whacked his arm repeatedly, squeaking when you were handed off to Steve, the latter who hugged you just as tightly, nonchalantly scenting you with their natural aromas and what they had picked up from practice.
“Steve! You need to shower-“ you groaned, your hands pushing at his chest until he set you down. The two alphas had looked down at you with matching beaming smiles and eyes brightly cast upon you.
“Dinner, bean?” Bucky tilted his head, cocking it like a curious puppy or kitten. “We can start tutoring?”
“You need showers, both of you. You smell disgusting.” You winced, yanking your bag from the ground to drape it over your shoulder, eyeing Steve and Bucky with mild annoyance. “Your scents are overpowering.”
“Shower, then dinner?” Steve alluded, generally hopeful that you would say yes without a moment’s hesitation.
“You just practiced for-“
“-now we’re hungry. Come on, Bean! We’ll pay. Please….?” Bucky’s bottom lip protruded, his eyes boring into yours with unkempt familiarity.
“It’s not about money, Bucky. It’s-“
No matter how you had tried, no matter how annoyed or vexed you were, you couldn’t come up with a quantifiable reason why you could or should deny them.
No matter how hard you thought or tried to resist the two alphas who were standing closer to you than you anticipated, and had been amorously drawn to each other as they were you, you felt yourself cratering and crumbling like a brittle piece of plastic.
You were giving in, caving in on yourself with little resistance and the more you tried to think of reasons to deny them, the harder it was to think of anything justifiable.
“Take a shower. You stink.” You scrunched your nose and shuddered, stepping away from the two of them. “And then…”
“And then…?” Bucky grinned, reaching his hand out to brush your hair off your shoulder.
“Dinner. As friends. That’s it.”

For the Love of the Game by @pellucid-constellations
Bucky Barnes was a menace. NYU’s top baseball player, he was used to girls falling at his feet and could smooth talk his way out of just about anything. You hated him. He couldn’t figure out why. So when the novelty of weekend parties and quick hookups finally wore off—and his feelings for you began to grow—he made it his mission to fix it.

-
You hummed to yourself as you pranced around your kitchen, the banana bread you just put in the oven leaving the aroma of your apartment warm. Your hair was in a braid down your back, your adorable pink striped Victoria's Secret pajamas soft against your skin. Music played from your Alexa, your nighttime playlist floating through the air, one of Olivia Rodrigo's new songs gracing your ears.
The thick socks covering your feet kept them from the cold of the linoleum in your bathroom. You took out your contacts, throwing them out before slipping on your glasses. You grabbed your phone off the counter after exiting the bathroom, seeing a couple Snapchat notifications, some from TikTok, and a few messages from your best friend. All three of her texts had said something along the lines of how you should've come out tonight. The third one said how JJ McCarthy was asking where you were. You sighed, turning your phone back off and checking on your banana bread.
JJ had been your friend since freshman year. He was very sweet and so kind. He was so mature and was one of the most polite people you knew. You'd always thought he was extremely cute, I mean, who didn't think that? He had the cutest smile, and the softest dirty blonde hair. His blue eyes were gorgeous. He'd started his little flirting game with you about halfway through sophomore year. He'd compliment you endlessly whenever you saw him, he'd randomly ask you out in the middle of a conversation. That same smile on his face, bright as ever. You, of course, took it all as a joke, a cruel one at that. You assumed JJ was just a flirty guy with a flirty personality, you'd experienced it before. There was zero chance someone like JJ McCarthy would like you.
"Come on. You guys really think he's being serious when he says that stuff?"
"Yes! We do, because he likes you, and it's so obvious. He doesn't talk to us like that, does he?"
You rolled your eyes. Starting to get pissed with them. Your brain could not compute the idea of JJ really liking you.
"Why in the world would JJ McCarthy, probably the most eligable bachelor on the campus of Michigan, like me? I'm not one of the prettiest girls at Mich, let alone am I the prettiest girl that likes him!"
Sometimes you would wonder that if you thought you were pretty, then maybe you'd believe them. You had bad underlying insecurities that stopped you from believing that any guy would like you, let alone someone like JJ.
You leaned your forehead against your silver fridge, the cool of the metal relaxing you. You could hear its low whirring and humming with your proximity to it. The sound occupying your brain as a white noise, leading you to close your eyes. You might've actually fallen asleep if the timer for your bread didn't go off, you scrambling to shout at your Alexa to, 'Please, stop!' You grabbed oven mitts and grabbed the tray after sticking a toothpick into it to check the middle. You set the pan down on your cooling rack, sliding your gloves off. You grabbed your phone and paused your music, going to sit on the couch while your bread cooled.
You stalked your friends Snapchat stories, they were all having fun at the big party everyone seemed to be attending. You halted when you saw your best friend's private story, you knew it only had a handful of people so she posted silly and random things on it.
What she'd posted was a zoomed in photo of what resembled JJ McCarthy with his head thrown back against the couch of whatever frat house they were in. His face looked miserable, and the caption on the photo was saying how that's how she too reacted when you didn't come to parties. You immediately slid up, typing in all caps telling her to shut up. You said how he was not upset over you, and how she was stupid and drunk. It was all lighthearted, you both knew it.
She immediately typed back to you, claiming he'd drunkenly asked her at least four times where you were and why you didn't want to come see him. You giggled to yourself, believing it for just a few moments. You typed to her for a few more minutes before your phone started vibrating in your hand, JJ's contact coming onto your screen. You were met with the photo you'd had him saved with, him smiling that bright beautiful smile across the table from you at Panera sometime during last school year. What was JJ calling you for? You slid to answer, holding your phone to your ear. It was oddly quiet on his end, though he was actively attending a party. He called your name, and you called his.
"JJ? What's up? Are you alright?"
"Hi! Oh my gosh, hi. I can't believe you aren't here right now, I was only excited to see you."
You smiled sadly, he was endearing, and so totally plastered.
"Aw, JJ, I'm sorry. Where are you? It's pretty quiet for a party."
"Oh, yeah. I'm just in the bathroom, standin' around. I got bored. Ya' know, I miss you."
He was so drunk, his words were melting together, but his happiness stayed solid throughout.
"Jay, are you alright? Do you need someone to help you leave? Is Blake there? Colston?"
"You should, we can hang out! But yeah, he's 'round here somewhere. Lemme go get 'im."
You said okay, letting the boy look for his friend. The noise on his end got louder as he left the bathroom. You giggled when you heard him shout hey at random people around the house. You heard JJ call your name into his phone, then again.
"JJ, I'm still here. Any luck finding Colston?"
"Why don't you jus' go marry Colston if he's all 'yer gonna talk about"
You barely heard it, he muttered it with the phone a few inches from his mouth. You were shocked at the words JJ said. What?
"What, JJ?"
"Wish y'were talkin' about me."
You smiled, still a bit confused. His drunk mind was extremely silly.
"I'm talking to you, aren't I? The only boy's call I'd pick up this late."
JJ was ecstatic, smiling brightly as he continued through the party, looking for his teammates.
"I see him! Colston! Come here buddy, she wants to talk to you."
You heard a confused colston mutter 'Who's she?' before he took the phone from JJ, seeing your contact before talking to you.
"Oh hey, what's up?"
"JJ is like, absolutely plastered if you couldn't tell. Are you all good? I asked him and he told me he wanted me to pick him up. If I come get him can you bring him to my car? I'm already in my pajamas."
"Yeah, think Jay'll definitely love that. Kid hasn't stopped asking about you since we got here. I'll have him outside whenever 'ya get here."
You responded with an affirmative, thanking Colston. He handed the phone back to JJ, who was very happy to hear your voice again.
"Hey! What's up? Colston said you're coming to get me."
"Yeah, I'll see you in a couple minutes, okay Jay?"
"Awesome."
He hung up and you giggled. How did you go from an innocent call with the boy to asking him if he needed to be picked up? You shook your head at yourself, standing and grabbing your keychain.
You left your apartment and drove to the house you knew the party was at. Your friends had told you which house it was in case you changed your mind and came. It was less than ten minutes before you were in front of the bustling house, seeing two boys standing on the sidewalk.
You rolled down the window as they walked over, shouting hey to them. JJ was visibly drunk, stumbling just a little as he leaned into your car, a big smile on his face.
"Hi, pretty."
"Hi, JJ."
Colston helped his teammate into the car, making sure you were good to take care of the boy.
"Yeah, we'll be fine, Colst. I'll let 'im have my couch for tonight. I'll text you if I need anything!"
He nodded, lightly slapping the side of your car twice before retreating to the house. You turned your music back on, leaving it at a low volume as you turned around to drive home. You glanced at JJ and noticed the biggest pout on his face.
"JJ McCarthy. I know I didn't just drive over here to get you just for you to be pouting when you get in my car."
"Just text Colston about it, why don't you?"
You busted out giggling. Drunk JJ was such a treat. His jealousy over your friendship with his teammate was incredibly hilarious.
"I might if you don't start bein' nice t'me."
"Sorry 'm being mean."
He barely murmured it, though it was all you needed. You smiled brightly at him, laughing to yourself. JJ never got drunk, he usually opted for just a drink or two, or being the designated driver.
You got home quickly, making small talk with the now sleepy boy. You parked in your spot, hopping out of the car and walking around the hood to help JJ out. He'd stayed at yours after a party once or twice before, but it had always been with a couple other people. Tonight it was just you two.
You walked in, stepping into the elevator right behind JJ. The two of you stepped out of the elevator as the machine dinged and the doors slid open. JJ grabbed your hand as you walked down the hall to your door. You glanced at him, softly smiling. His eyes were barely open, but he still had a smile on his face. You didn't take the action as anything serious, JJ was a physical touch kind of person. He was always hugging people, patting shoulders, bumping fists. He was extra physical with you though, not that you noticed. You were the only girl he ever really acted like that with, again, not to your acknowledgment.
You wouldn't let yourself believe he liked you. Convinced it would hurt too much when eventually he got a prettier, skinnier, bubblier, more likable girlfriend and left you in the dust. JJ had eyes solely for you, though. He only ever looked at you. He asked anyone and everyone if they knew where you were or if you were coming to the party for God's sake.
You closed the door behind JJ and locked it, telling him to make himself at home. He took his shoes off, trying to neatly organize them in your shoe cubby. He wandered over to the couch as you kicked your shoes off and entered your kitchen. You grabbed a cold water bottle, two Ibuprofen tablets and two Tylenol tablets, the perfect hangover cure. You noticed your still warm banana bread sitting on the counter, perking up.
"Jay, do you want some banana bread?"
You heard his footsteps then saw him come around the corner, his eyebrows raised.
"Hell yes."
You giggled, gesturing for him to come stand by you. You flipped the pan over onto the cooling rack, opening the drawer directly in front of you, pulling out a bread knife. You felt a head slip into the crook of your neck, warm breath on your neck. Heat rushed your face, JJ's contagious smile spreading to you.
"Hi, crazy."
You pointed to the water and pills on the counter as you swerved out of his reach, going to grab a cutting board and a plate.
"Take those and your head won't hurt in the morning. Well, I don't know how much you drank, but that'll definitely make it better."
He nodded, immediately following your directions. He gulped down half of the water bottle while you came back over, laying the loaf of bread on the cutting board. You cut a couple pieces off, setting one onto the plate before sliding it over to JJ. He smiled at you, beginning to devour his snack. Hopefully it would absorb some of the alcohol in his stomach.
"You're amazing, you know."
He said it in a way that made it seem like he meant it on a deeper level than you'd usually assume. He said it like he truly did believe that, and it wasn't just because you fed him warm banana bread. You shook your head, brushing it off as you tore of pieces from your slice.
"No, don't shake your head a'me. You are. You act like you're not but y'are."
He was too good at making you feel special. You were just too scared to believe any of it.
"I just like to take care of people I like."
You smiled innocently at him, shrugging your shoulders as you moved to grab a proper storage container for your bread.
"And I just like when the girl I like believes me when I tell her she's amazing."
You froze in your spot. Sure, JJ had flirted with you for about a year. But, he'd never downright told you he liked you. He's drunk out of his mind. You sighed when you turned around, trying to smile at the boy as you stared into his sleepy eyes.
"You're so sleepy, JJ, and drunk."
He nodded a little, his eyes never leaving yours, that smile never leaving his face. He didn't really notice that you'd downplayed his feelings, he'd noticed even less that he'd straight up told you you were the girl he liked. All he could really notice was how beautiful you looked in the dim light of your kitchen, in your cute pajamas and glasses, hair in a messy braid.
You set JJ up on your couch, getting him another water and some thick and soft blankets and a pillow. You ran your hand through his messy hair as he laid in the couch beneath you. His eyes were begging to close, but he still smiled at you. You quietly told him to go to sleep, turning to leave. You'd only made it to the light switch before he called your name.
"I really do like you, 'm not just drunk. Just get too nervous to tell you, 'm sorry."
Your heart was heavy. You wanted to believe him, but how could you? JJ had never shown what you deemed as genuine interest in you when he wasn't inebriated. All he did was toss flirty comments around, throwing his arm over your shoulder every once in a while.
You couldn't lie and say you didn't notice the different look in JJ's eyes as he peered over the back of your couch. The truth in them.
"If you even remember this in the morning, we can talk about it. Alright?"
"That's perfect."
He smiled at you one last time before sinking below the back of your couch, out of sight.
"Goodnight Jay."
"Night night, pretty."
His words made your heart squeeze. You knew that the affection you felt for JJ wouldn't change, no matter if they were just drunk fibs.
You switched the living room lights off, heading into the kitchen. You set out another water and more pills for whenever JJ woke up in the morning. You checked the locked once more before turning all of the lights off. All you heard as you headed back to your bedroom was JJ's heavy breathing, it calmed your racing heart. You left your door cracked open incase JJ woke up needing something.
Your glasses slid up your head as your rubbed your eyes, sighing. You kept reminding your heart that JJ didn't really know what he was saying, that he would regret it.
The bed you slept countless nights in was uncomfortable as ever tonight, you tossed and turned for most of an over before climbing out of bed. You threw your cute pajamas onto the hardwood floor and traded them for a Lululemon bra and some shorts.
You fell asleep after another forty minutes of shifting every minute or so. Your sleep was light and poor. You woke up a little after four am, just three hours after finally falling asleep. Sleep finally took you again for a couple more hours, just until a little after nine.
After lying and staring at your ceiling for half an hour, you slowly sat up in bed, getting up. You exited your room, dragging yourself to the living room. The couch was empty, the blanket JJ had used folded neatly on top of the pillow. How sweet was he? You turned and walked into the kitchen, finally spotting the dirty blonde boy you wanted to see.
He turned at the sound of your footsteps, smiling. He was holding a water bottle, his eyes tired and his hair still messy.
"Good morning, JJ."
"Hi."
You felt nerves wash over you. This was it, where he either apologizes and regrets everything he said last night, or you got everything you'd hoped for. You went over to where he was leaning against your counter, hopping up to sit on the counter by him. His head fell to your shoulder as if by reflex.
"How do you feel, Jay?"
"Good, better 'cause y'took care of me."
"I just gave you some meds, Jay."
"Still."
You smiled, leaning your head on his. Maybe it would all be okay. Maybe he would be in love with you. You took a deep breath, now or never.
"Jay, do you-"
"Yes."
You pulled your head from his, turning to give him a look.
"You don't even know what I was gonna say."
"I remember what I said."
You bit your lip, still nervous. You look to where your feet dangled in the air, suddenly scared of his gaze on you.
JJ was nervous as hell too, though. You hadn't said that you liked him back, he definitely remembered that. He was beginning to take your silence as disinterest. He just stared at you, waiting for some indication of how you felt.
"And?"
"'And?' And, I like you."
Your nerves escaped from your body in a giggle, the churning of your stomach now butterflies. JJ did not appreciate the laughter though, taking it the complete wrong way.
"You don't have to laugh at me, shit."
He reached his hands to his eyes, rubbing hard as he started off, away from you. You giggled again, realizing your mistake. You jumped from the counter, sighing JJ's name out.
"Wait, wait Jay, I'm sorry. It's not like that."
You grabbed his arm, trying to halt the taller and stronger boy wasn't easy without his compliance. You shouted his name again and he stopped, turning to you.
"I'm not laughing 'cause you like me. I'm laughing 'cause I barely slept last night worried that you wouldn't like me."
JJ finally looked at you. His eyebrows pulled together in confusion.
"What's do you mean? I literally told you I liked you!"
"JJ! You were so drunk! I wasn't about to convince myself that JJ McCarthy liked me just 'cause he said so while he was plastered."
"I wasn't plastered! And, what do you mean when y'say it like that?"
You rolled your eyes, halfway annoyed. He didn't get it.
"JJ, you could probably get with any girl on the Michigan campus if you wanted to. I wasn't convinced that out of all of them you'd actually want me."
"How could I not like you?"
The truth in JJ's eyes made you feel seen. Like he actually knew you. You smiled sappily, pulling the boy down by his shoulder, kissing him deeply. One of JJ's hands gripped the back of your head, the other pulling you closer by the small of your back.
There you were, standing in your kitchen kissing the boy you could've sworn never liked you. The boy you'd been infatuated with for a year. He was finally yours.
JJ pulled away from your lips, his hands moving to cup your face. His smile was brighter than ever. You both laughed, looking into each other's eyes for just a few seconds before JJ pulled you back in.

if you catch my drift…
in which you have a crush on mighty football player! reiner and sasha tries to help you out with it — might make it into a series idk 🤷🏽♀️
ik it’s been a few days, but i wanted to mix it up a bit by writing something about reiner <3 i hope you enjoy!
Reiner Braun was a fairly big guy, both inside and out. He used his strong and burly figure to be a part of the college football team and help out with his family’s construction business whenever her came home for the weekend. He had big hands, that he used to do those construction jobs and got frustrated with them when he had to use them to work on smaller projects in his life. And he also had big heart, which he used to allow people to take advantage of him once they got pass the intimidation of his size. And not to mention that he was absolutely gorgeous to look at.
The people that knew him would describe him as some kind of big teddy bear. He was scary to encounter just because of his towering height or the fact that he looked angry all the time, but if someone got him to laugh, smile, or fall in love, he was the absolute sweetest. You of all people knew that because he was in love with you. Because he was in love with you and all things you, you were the person he was most sweetest to. The only downside to his love was that you didn’t know about it, you just thought he was being nice to you as one of his friends.
“Girl take the hint, that man is in love with you!” Sasha tried to drill into your brain for the hundredth time this year. You wanted to believe it, you really did. You even had your own little mini fantasies about how it’d feel to be his but in your mind there was no way he was in love with you over some thin, prissy white girl. Besides, you never saw him look your way so you pretended not to look his way.
You rolled your eyes and continued typing way on your laptop. “I wish..” You mumbled. You did get a bit sad as you thought about it some more. As cool as it’d be to imagine being his girlfriend, going on dates, kissing him, hugging him, and other things, you didn’t think it’d be real life if that actually happened to you.
“I say you should try shooting your shot. What’s the worse that could happen?” You turned to her.
“I get my heart broken and give up on love forever. And besides, everyone knows that dating athletes is a bad idea anyways.” Sasha shakes her head in annoyance as you tried to justify your reasoning to not take a chance at getting with your dream guy.
“Well if you won’t do it, I will— look! there he goes now..” You thought Sasha was playing with you like normal but when you looked towards the entrance to the library, there he was. All handsome in his sweats and jacket. ‘He wore a beanie today’ you thought to yourself and your heart softened at the sight.
“Sasha, don’t do no stupid shit—“
“Too late. Reiner!” He didn’t hear her at first because he had headphones in but he took them off after Sasha yelled his name another four times.
“Oh my god..” You groaned as you tried to do the rest of your work and pretend to be completely unaware that Reiner was on his way to where you were.
“Hey, Reiner~” Sasha cooed and you mentally cringed in your head.
“Hey, um.. you need something?”
“Nope, just wanted to say hi. And I think Y/n wanted to say hi too. Say hi to Reiner, Y/n!” You looked up for a second and waved quickly before narrowing your eyes back down at your screen. He didn’t even have enough time to wave back.
“She seems.. busy.” A small frown crept onto his face but he hoped it wasn’t noticeable. He was kinda sad that you didn’t really seemed to be bothered with him right now, but he just blamed it on the fact that you were busy. So he figured he should just leave you alone.
“I’m gonna go… Bye, Sash.”
Sasha made sure he left for sure before speaking “That was your chance~!” She held onto your shoulders and shook them as she whined.
“Chance at what?” Your words were bumped over with each shake Sasha gave you.
“To talk to him at least!”
She stopped shaking you. “I do talk to him!”
“Yeah right! You two need to have a serious conversation. Like share your traumatic experiences or something to get closer.” You hated to admit it, but Sasha was right. You hadn’t talked to Reiner and when you did, it was always kinda awkward. He’d act weird around you so that’s why you thought that what Sasha was trying to imply was complete bullshit. But in her defense, you could be a little dense.
“Doubt that’ll work.”
“You two are gonna be together, trust.” Sasha declared as she gathered up her things and swung her bag over her shoulder. When Sasha wanted something to happen, best believe that she’ll find a way to make it happen and that’s what worried you.
