someone sent me an anon ask about the anti rhaenyra agenda most rhaenicent shippers have and like a dumbass i accidently deleted it so i'm just going to try my best to re-answer it here (yes i wrote a whole spiel about it and now it's gone forever and i'm upset.)

from what i can tell there are only two reasons as to why people can't stand rhaenyra but love rhaenicent; and it's because they either have some heavy internalized misogyny OR that's the only way to continue and keep their uwu sad lesbian alicent headcanons semi-tethered in reality. alicent is a character that has next to no positive interactions with other characters, least of all any women. she has a 'good' (and i say that lightly) relationship with rhaenyra for 2 episodes in hotd, and then they are adversaries for the rest of the show. the only other women we see her interact with are helaena and her lady in waiting talya ( who regularly spied on her for mysaria) and minus talya, those are the same female relationships she has in f&b. she doesn't really have a good track record with anyone.

in the book she terrorized rhaenyra from aegon's birth up until rhaenyra's death. rather than teaching her son to rule and raising him to be an upstanding prince of the realm she instead spent her time calling rhaenyra, a literal child, a slut, she accepted criston into her service as her own personal protector in spite of his predatory behavior towards rhaenyra (which she acknowledges), and continuously tries to have rhaenyra and her sons disinherited and killed due to her own spreading of the bastard rumors. not to mention that she was eighteen when she married viserys to rhaenyra's nine. there's really nothing romantic about it. in the show almost everything is still the same except for her being the one to arrange helaena's marriage to her known degenerate and rapist son (in f&b viserys is the one who had them marry) and most likely told her the same rhetoric of rhaenyra killing them to secure her claim that she told her sons from when they were babies up until the coup. with rhaenyra she still antagonizes her because she (lemme check again, told alicent she didn't sleep with daemon and got otto fired because he was working against the crown to install his grandson as heir over her). don't even get me started on the villainization of rhaenyra in order to uphold alicent's constant victimization storyline. alicent is the one who abused rhaenyra, not the other way around, and the age changes in the show (which are so stupid omg) only serve to make alicent more sympathetic and rhaenyra an apparent privileged brat who doesn't understand what it's like to suffer because of the men in her life and therefore deserves her fate (i can literally see the entire galaxy with how far back my eyes are rolled rn.)

if the show wanted to include or focus on two women who were torn apart by the patriarchy and the men around them, helaena's blank character was right there for the taking (and would've been even juicier with the sister vs sister, queen consort vs queen regnant debacle.) she has no personality in the book or any relevance besides losing her children in violent ways and going mad, they definitely could have made her a more present character on screen in a manner that adds an actual emotional connection to her but alas, rhaenicent is top priority. furthering that, if the show wanted to include queer representation with their leading lady, laena had more hints in the text for that type of relationship than anything the show has given us for the rhaenyra/alicent dynamic, even with how hard they're trying to force it down our throats.

the entire relationship has made the story go completely off kilter because the show won't just let it be, and it's affected almost all of their other relationships. they're not going to convince me that rhaenyra cares about alicent more than her own children or even vice versa (though in an entirely different manner) and that reconciliation is possible in spite of aemond murdering luke. it makes both the characters and the writers look like delusional idiots. there's absolutely no reason for these types of glaring mistakes in a series where characterization and the relationships that revolve from them are the reason it's so popular amongst the masses. this lack of proper relationship building has caused hotd to feel a lot more shallow and lackluster than what you'd expect with how massive it's budget was when they created it, the amount of talented actors they casted, and the literal blueprint laid out of what not to do that got season eight is. someone should have taken accountability for these dumb decisions and realized how quickly they're streamlining straight towards what ruined game of thrones in the first place.

Walkerverse Character Tier List

Hello Walker Family! I'm here announcing the beginning of the Walkerverse Character Tier List series!

I've created a list of characters from Walker and Walker: Independence to put in a tier list ranking. I will be releasing a series of polls with all these characters (including pictures and brief reminders of their roles) to determine which Tier List ranking they get. Whichever option from S to F gets the most votes will become the official ranking of that character.

Here is the criteria I used to select the characters I'm putting in the poll series:

They must have a name on the imdb page

They must have a minimum of two appearances

I have to remember them, regardless of their appearance count

Single appearances that were special/memorable will also be included (ex: Uncle Willy, Minnie Jayne)

The rankings will be as follows:

S tier: Best character in the show, love them with all my heart, they can do literally nothing wrong

A tier: Beloved blorbo, one of my favorites, I'd want to be friends with them if they were real

B tier: I like them, but I have my critiques. A good character that I mostly enjoy

C tier: Mid character, not the biggest fan of them but I won't complain when they show up

D tier: I don't like them. I have many criticisms of their actions and personality. I may even dislike whole episodes because of them

F tier: Literally the worst character in the entire show. Hate them. Much dislike. I fastforward over them on rewatches.

I currently have pictures (for the poll and the complete tierlist that I will link when it is public) for 39 of the 120+ characters I put on the list, so that's where I will be starting. I will include the full list of all the characters from both shows below the cut along with the taglist.

Aemma is the very tragic figure that the TG supporters make Alicent to be!

I will stand by that and they can argue with the walls!

there’s not a doubt in my mind that the writers decided to completely flip the script for aemma and alicent. aemma was 11 when she married a 16 years old viserys. alicent was 18 and viserys 29. while still not a great age gap, even by today’s standards alicent would be a full grown adult. it’s pretty clear from the get-go that alicent had agency and knew what she wanted out of the marriage; which was for her son, the king’s first born son, to sit the iron throne. she spent years antagonizing and isolating rhaenyra when she was a child, and even hinted that she knew ser criston was a predator towards her and still took him on as her sworn shield bc of her hatred for rhaenyra. this was a grown ass woman who decided to spend her years not preparing her son to rule and turning him into a halfway decent person, but instead bullying a motherless little girl due to sheer jealousy and conceit.

aemma on the other hand was a kid that was involuntarily married to an adult, who’s only purpose narrative wise was to give viserys heirs and die in childbirth (pretty familiar sounding story for targaryen women) so that he could remarry. they chose an older actress for the show to play aemma, i believe she was 40ish when the show was filmed, and cast an 18-19 year old for alicent. that would have her mid to late 20s when she had rhaenyra, and basically almost entirely removes how and when her victimhood began. she was the child bride, she was the one who was forced to get pregnant over and over again for viserys’ want of a son, she’s the one who ends up dying so devastatingly young; forced to give up her life and freedom bc her daughter wasn’t enough.

on the contrary, this would have been a fairly accurate casting for alicent, if they hadn’t decided to age her down to 14 at the beginning of the show and age rhaenyra up to 14 as well to create a doomed from the start friendship. rhaenyra was 8 years old when her mother died at 23 after aemma spent years either being pregnant, losing the pregnancy early, or going through multiple stillbirths. viserys started impregnating her when she was 13 years old. even the maester’s admitted that she was too young to be bedded, and that it had probably contributed to her fertility troubles. in f&b we’re only told that she died in childbirth, but she was forcibly cut open in the show, fully conscious the entire time that it was happening. too many people dismiss her death as necessary by saying she was going to die anyway, when in reality that doesn’t matter. she was a real, live human being who was gutted like a fish without her consent (another example of the show choosing to force unnecessary brutality and grotesqueness on women).

the show can try as hard as it wants to fully encompass alicent in the victim category, but they either fail to realize or do and don’t care that victimhood was never an aspect of her character; and in reducing her character to nothing more than that they’ve failed to properly adapt her motives and reasonings correctly for why she helped usurp rhaenyra and kickstart the dance of the dragons. aemma, however, was a victim; regardless of whichever media she is in. it was an integral part of her, as much as i hate to say it, and the writers failed to make the audience understand just how horrifying and tragic her life truly was.

“Peach Blossom!” Your Memaw Leona Faye stomps her foot at the bottom of the stairs.  “Peach Blossom!  It is time for your sorry behind to wake up!” She takes one step up, and hears you groan.

Rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, you bury yourself deeper under the covers, it was too bright and too cold out there.  “Peach Blossom!”

“It’s okay for you to say ass, you know!”

“Why I have never!  Tip!” She glares back at her husband, who shrugs his shoulders.  “You did this.  You gave her that vulgar mouth.”

“Lee, let it go.  She’s grown.”

“And still lives under my roof,” you bounce down the stairs, giving her a quick kiss on her cheek before walking into the kitchen.  Grabbing up a biscuit to pick at.  Memaw’s biscuits did not need anything in them.  They were perfect.  “What are your plans after work today?”

“Well,” you lay the biscuit down, and start twisting your ring around your finger.  A constant reminder that the only thing you were getting that you wanted was Cole.  Because this ring was not it.  

“PB and J, what’s wrong?  Ever since he slid that ring on your finger, you’ve acted funny,” you stuff a bite of the biscuit in your mouth, reaching around her to get a cup of coffee.  “Has Cole tried anything?”

“No! Oh my god, no.  Cole is a gentleman.  He’s fine.  I just…you know I wanted an emerald engagement ring like yours,” she gives you a headnod, and lifts up your hand.  Her finger traces the outline of your ring.  “I’m being silly.”

“You are.  You got a man.  A handsome one.  Future as the sheriff.”

“I know.  You don’t think I’m making a mistake?”

You look up at your grandmother, hoping she’ll give you an answer.  Instead she cups your cheek, “You have to make that decision.  What do you have to worry about with Cole?”

Cole stretches, still laying in his bed.  His arms going high above him as he hits his alarm.  Reaching over to check his phone, hoping that you would give him something explicit to look at, but instead it was the usual, “Good morning.  Hope to see you today,” laying his phone back down, he slaps his hand down on an arm beside him.

“Time for you to go,” she whimpers, scooting herself down the covers, and he pulls her back up.  “I said, it was time for you to go.”

“Does this mean I get out of my ticket, Officer Turner?”

“It does if you keep your filthy mouth closed, and get out of my house,” sitting up in the bed, he cracks his neck, and looks back at the girl.  “What?”

“You act all noble in the morning, when last night you couldn’t wait to bring me here,” she looks over at the picture of you and Cole together, and chuckles, “She can’t be that special.  I’m reduced to being your little secret?”

“You’re reduced to fucking a cop to stay out of a ticket.  It’s not that big of a deal.”

“What happens when she moves in?”

He spins around, grabbing her chin roughly, before making her look up at him.  “I won’t have a need for you then, will I?  And if you think you’re special, you’re not.”

She gets out of the bed laughing.  Kicking her panties under the bed, “Is that what it is?  Your fiancé is holding out her cunt until you’re married?  Oh, that’s rich.  Does she know you’ve got a community dick?  Let any girl fuck or suck your dick if they get pulled over.  You think when you get married and she moves in that her cunt is going to be enough?  Cole, you’re the type of man where the new wears off quickly.  When did she start holding out on you?  You met at the campus when you were security.  Everyone in town knows this.”

“I said it’s time for you to leave.  Grab your panties from under my bed,” he stands getting his clothes, and laughs as the stupid girl angrily gathers her things, and slams his door closed.  He knew bringing her home was a mistake, but phone sex with you and your nudes had made him horny, and he knew you wouldn’t be up for a three o’clock in the morning blow job.

“Excited to be seeing you, and that giant ring,” you fake a smile.  Walking to the center of the room, before you sit down on the rug.  Each child slowly makes their way to you.  Ready to start the day, and you were ready for whatever today brought.  Leaving all your doubts and worries at the door, because these babies needed you.

“Like Memaw would have went for that,” he was being silly, but it always begged the question if maybe the lack of sex really was bothering him.  “It’s a few weeks away, Cole.  Can you wait just a bit longer?”

“Three years is a long time,” you go to stand up, and he pulls you in his lap.  “I didn’t mean it the way you’re thinking.”

“How did you mean it?  Because if we’re just getting married for things to be physical, I don’t want this.”

You heard his words, but he slides you off him, and walks away from you.  What he was saying, and how he was reacting seemed to contradict as of lately.  You walk into his bedroom, and he lays flat on his back.  Arms behind his head, and eyes closed.  He seriously was a handsome man, and he was almost yours.  Surely something more, couldn’t be bad?

“I told you I was okay with your decision.”
