9. Do you ever have plans to write anything other than fic?

i used to mostly only write original fic, for a long time my fanfic writing was only occasional. the last novel i was working on i started in 2013 and i've basically taken a hiatus from working on that. i'd basically stopped writing when i got super depressed in 2018 anyway. i went to finish my degree and picked up fanfic again in summer 2020.

i love the lack of pressure of monetization for fanfic. i was so stressed about querying and marketability when i was writing original works before. it was so hard to just keep my eyes on my plate. i'm really glad i leapt into this hobby with both feet.

i sometimes think about posting original works on ao3 but i'm not sure about it.

10. What inspires you the most?

i already answered this one, but i'll expand on my second point which is getting inspo from others' fanworks

sometimes when i'm new to a trope or a pairing or a show, i feel like i need something to build on.

it's a combo of needing to know what the water is like while also finding out if i want to pour a volatile compound into the mix. sometimes seeing people on the same wavelength is super affirming and sometimes i just want to sow chaos >:3

but it's also like... i want to be influenced by others, i want to get into the pool and splash around with some strangers, does that make sense?

11. Weirdest thing you’ve ever written/thought about writing/etc.?

hmm... probably dragon porn. i'm really into the idea of Qui-Gon fucking a dragon right now.

16. What’s an AU you would love to read (or have read and loved)?

I think at least 50% of what I read is AUs at this point 🤔 I love them. I love new settings and new ways for Anakin and Obi-Wan's relationship to develop. I'm still desperately holding out for a Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea AU but I'd be happy with any kind of historical AU. My pal @renlyslittlerose has a great WWII AU at the moment but I really enjoy all historical AUs when they come up. What if Obi-Wan and Anakin were renaissance artists together, or explorers, or rival kings???

21. If you wrote a “missing scene” in [insert fic], what would it be?

I guess I just pick a fic? In my fic as holy and enchanted (this is the one where Obi-Wan is an ancient god and Anakin is an archaeologist) I'd started writing a scene where Obi-Wan paints Anakin with the blue tattoos he has in the 2003 clone wars show as part of the sex ritual. And it was going to be sensual and drive Anakin's desperation but the fic was already pretty long and Anakin was already begging for it so it got scrapped. That could be fun to revisit!

I think I'm starting to run out of WIP sentences to share at this point lol. This isn't tied to any of the events I'm supposed to be writing for or my active WIPs but a secret third thing.

“Anakin,” Obi-Wan sighs, a harder edge slipping into his name, that curl of irritation that makes Anakin’s fight or flight response go haywire in the best way. The little line briefly appears between his brows before it flickers away as Obi-Wan relaxes, like he’s releasing all the anger Anakin can so easily conjure up within him into the Force. “Please. It’s about what happened in the infirmary.”  The petty part of Anakin wants to slam the keypad again and watch the door hit Obi-Wan in the nose. Prolong their suffering just for the fun of it, to get back at Obi-Wan for making him stew in anxiety for a week and spare credits. But the needy part—the part that misses Obi-Wan like a part of him is aching—steps aside, creating enough space to admit entry.

I don’t know if it can be properly conveyed how much shit was thrown Hayden’s way when his prequel movies came out. Just a metric fuckton of crap. After AOTC (and only in his very early 20s) he was swiftly made the Star Wars pariah, and ROTS did little to assuage that. A lot of the dissatisfaction with the prequels somehow fell on him, both his turns as Anakin got Razzie “Awards”, his name became synonymous with bad, wooden acting.

Over the years the opinion of his performance shifted to Hayden being an unfortunate victim of George Lucas' writing and directing, saddled with lines no actor could make work. But even that opinion still largely discounted Hayden's acting ability.

For him to come back after 17 years to the role he got so much flack for, have his big scene show not even half of his face (and have that face caked in makeup and prosthetic), have his voice distorted, and still deliver the way he did? Still convey all the rage and evil and arrogance but also pain and sadness within Vader? Show everyone this is why he landed the role two decades ago, because he can be frightening and vulnerable and devastating even with just one eye and the corner of his mouth visible? Show everyone he is Anakin/Vader, and make everyone consider he was good all along? Incredible, amazing, the chosen one indeed. Thanks Deborah Chow and Ewan for making this show, thank you Hayden for coming back.

Thoughts on Anastasia obikin au (anakin as Anastasia) or beauty and the beast obikin? And while the more logical choice would be to make anakin the beast because of the whole darth vader thing, what about Obi-wan as the beast because when he turns back into a human and the beast turns out to be a bearded daddy ?? That would make sense too, no?

I can have some thoughts!!! My first re: Anastasia is that I happen to know that @coldwaughtered has an Anastasia AU percolating so I am tagging her in case she has any thoughts of her own. But I'm intrigued! My immediate thought was Anakin as Dimitri but you make a fair point. He can grow up as Ani instead of Anakin and maybe Shmi is living in Paris because I like when she gets to be alive! Plus then we get the classic scenes of Anakin in fancy outfits while Obi-Wan realizes that he secretly loves him which is one of my favourite tropes ever so I'm sold is what I'm saying.

As for Beauty and the Beast: yes!!! I love that you're making space for bearded beast Obi-Wan, how very handsome of him. And maybe we could adjust Belle's character so that Anakin is also an inventor? Not that he can't read but it's fun bringing over his canon traits, at least up until I have to write a scene in which he engineers something and I remember I don't know how electricity works.

(I know @tennessoui has a lovely Beauty and the Beast fic of her own with beast Anakin if you're interested in reading that casting, which I do recommend because it's great.)

But I do think your version works just as well! R2 is the horse, of course, because I think he and Philippe have a certain kinship. Are all the other Jedi turned into furniture? Is Aayla the talking feather duster just because they're both inexplicably French? I vote yes!!! I was going to say I couldn't imagine Obi-Wan being rude enough to get cursed but 1) the prince frankly wasn't rude enough to justify the insane curse put on him and his innocent servants/dog and 2) Obi-Wan did call Anakin a pathetic life form that one time. So in this AU maybe the evil witch is Jar Jar. I don't know. I'm just sort of saying stuff.
