If I had a nickel for every time my favorite character in a children's show made to sell toys was associated with the color orange and is hard to find merch of despite there being 6 main characters I would have 2 nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

How do the ninja react to Y/n being sick? :>
Nice to see you again in my request box, mootie. 😝 The ninjas are such cuties
~~~
Tumblr media
~Lloyd Garmadon~
He wouldn't be scared to be around a sick you. He isn't the best with cooking, so the bet you'd receive from him would be some snacks you like. He'd be checking in on you every 30 ish minutes but could easily stay there for an hour just sitting there with his lover.
~Kai Smith~
Let's just say he doesn't like getting sick but tries his best to comfort you... from across the room. If he sees you truly struggling, he will push past his uncomfortableness and tend to you with keeping you warm. Maybe even a snack if you're in the mood for it.
~Cole Brookstone~
Will not cook you anything and had to ask for help to anyone willing to put a hand in for him. Other than that, he'd share some of his cake with you if you wished. After all, he loves you more than his beloved cake. Even if he can't make the food, he tries his best to keep a sleeping schedule for you. Even help with chores for the week.
~Zane Julian~
Do I even need to explain this? He is a damn computer and would know every way possible to help, aiding you with the right teas and foods to help you heal and get stronger faster. Would have a timer for every time medicine needed to be taken.
~Jay Walker~
Would genuinely sit by your wide the whole time either playing games, watching some show or cuddle you. If you needed anything he be lighting fast to grabbing it, only the best for his lover, as he must say. Would probably also accidentally fall asleep alongside you. NAP TIME!
~Nya Smith~
She'd simply make you a warm chicken noodle soup, and if you don't/can't have that, she would make you another warm meal. Switching towle on your forehead to keep you cold, she is probably one of the best people to be taken care of.
~~~
Hope you all enjoyed!!♡

hi there! i hope you’re having a good day and merry christmas from 🇦🇺 if you celebrate it! i have a little idea that’s been on the top of my head recently and i just need to get it out into the world (this may be a request, or just a thought) but i have been thinking. imagine a ninjago au where it’s thief/tagger (graffiti artist) reader x the ninjas.. like it could be like a specific ninja but i was thinking more smth like this (picture it)
you’re out doing your usual criminal activities and you and the ninja squad have been rivalling forever, and suddenly you get caught off guard in an alleyway where one of them appear outta no where and ambushes you, so they tease and banter for a hot second with you before you land a hit on them and run off.. but then another appears, cocking their head at you.. then they all start just dropping in onto the hoods of abandoned rusty cars and like old crates and stuff, or like behind you and #jawontheground
anyways, there’s no specific genre to that just needed to get this out of my mind 😢 if you could turn it into like a one shot i would be 😱honoured😱 but it’s just a thought ^^
AHHHHH OMG I LOVE THIS SCENARIO MERRY CHRISTMAS ML 🫶🫶 i hope everyone is having an amazing Christmas eve or day!! Now, enjoy!!

ALLEYWAY ART GONE WRONG
Tumblr media
Bobbing my hand up and down, shaking the spray can in my hand, i brought up the messy can and sprayed up on the wall, moving it slowly, leaving a dripping effect as the paint slides off the wall. Headphones to a full volume as i hummed along the tunes.
From morning till dawn, my mural was finally finished. I climbed down the rustic ladder and stepped back a few feet to see the masterpiece in front of me. I grinned in success as i laid my eyes upon my art.
Grabbing my bag, i stuffed the rest of the cans into the leather bag and threw it up my shoulder. I crouched down to a periwinkle purse and rummaged through it, the purse had a few dirt and soot on the cover, since it was recently stolen by me.
Finding a lighter and some cigars in the bag, i stuffed the said items into my pocket as i spotted a wallet, reaching my hand out to grab it, i heard some strange noises. Seeming it was some clanging metal. Whipping my head to the right, i spotted no trace of people.
I took my headphones off, being wary of my surroundings. I stood upright and eyed the area where the sound came from, before i knew it i was pinned to the wall aggressively.
Squirming against the strangers grip, they tightened their arms and pressed on my back. I was faced to the wall with my hands behind my back. Groaning and grunting as i tried to pry out of the hard grasp, the stranger started to chuckle from behind me.
“As expected, i knew you were here.” The voice spoke out as he whispered into my ear. I recognized the voice as the earth ninja, Cole brookstone. His hot breath against my ear sent shivers down my spine. He turned me around to face him, my back against the wall with his arms beside me and a knee between my thighs.
“Theres no way to get out of this one, you were a hard catch you know that?” I laid my eyes upon his dark brown ones, i felt his finger tracing my jawline as he chuckled. He moved his arms and started to propel on his elbows against the wall. Our face a mere inch away.
I moved my hand upward, clenching into a fist as i punched his chin from beneath, his teeth hitting each other as he grunted in pain, releasing me from his arms. I lifted myself from the wall and watched as he crouched down while holding his jaw, before he could muster up a word i held the back of his head, feeling his soft jet black hair with a tug.
Pushing his head to the hard surface, his face was met with the wall he was originally on before. His knees against the cold concrete floor while his face was against the brick wall, his hands behind his back with my foot on his wrists tightly.
I felt the corners of my mouth tug upwards as i felt a smirk forming on my face, i bent down to his ear, my hand still in his hair and my left foot on his hands against his back. My breath on his ear.
“As much as i love to be put in handcuffs, i dont like the police kind” i whispered and pickpocketed his gi. Throwing his head onto the floor, i darted away from the black ninja, only to realize a dead end, by another one of the ninjas.
Kai jiang smith, the fire ninja, also known as the red ninja. My eyes laid upon his figure as we were about 5 meters away from each other. Backing up and turning away from the said ninja, i was faced with a female with a pool of water in her hands. Knowing it was Nya i groaned and heard a few metal clanging from all around me. Looking around, my eyes were met with the rest of the ninjas on top of garbage bins and old rusted metal of car pieces.
I chuckled and turned my body towards the so called leader who was glaring behind me. “You really had to bring the whole skittles pack, didn’t you Lloyd?” I brought my hand against my hip, watching the Green ninja from afar. “It’s about time you trapped me, although i was having fun with the other ninja” I used my thumb and pointed to the direction of Cole, who was now standing a few meters away from me with some crimson red liquid flowing down his nose.
Lloyd started to get into a fighting stance with his hands glowing green. “Well the fun just started.” He spoke out with a rough voice. Sprinting towards me, he jumped upwards and brought his hand back for a punch, quickly dodging to the right, his fist was met against the floor, leaving a crack in the cement. Feeling a hot temperature behind me, i whipped my head and turned my body just in time, moving away from a fireball from behind me.
“6 verses 1 i see? Kind of unfair dont you think?” Kai and Lloyd was in the air with the intentions of pouncing me, slipping my legs into a split, my thighs and legs were met with the ground, moving my torso to kiss the floor, Kai and Lloyd accidentally attacked each other as they muster apologies.
Lifting my body into a hand stand, i moved my hands and twisted my body into a circular movement, kicking Jay who was dashing towards me.
At the same time he was kicked, he sent lightning at my chest as i grunted in pain, clutching my chest i was quickly met face first to the ground, my hands on my back with a strong grip in my hair.
“And thats payback.” Cole responded as he nodded towards Zane, feeling a cold sensation against my hands, i assumed he was freezing my hands shut. I squinted and groaned as i tried to wiggle my way out of his hold, that led to cole tightening his grip on my hair and pushing my head into the ground.
I bent my knees and started to kick cole, currently my feet were in the air, kicking left and right, Jay then grabbed on of my feet while Nya grabbed ahold of the other. Bringing them together as Zane also freezed my ankles together.
Bringing me to my knees as i was sat upright, “what should we do with her now that we captured her?” Nya asked to the colourful group infront of me. Puffing away a strand of hair in my face i glared at everyone as they were in a small circle, deciding what to do with me.
Kai stayed behind and watched me on the ground, my knees making contact of the cold hard floor, i darted my pupils to the fire head.
Crouching beside me as he sat down with a grunt. We made eye contact, my eyes met his hazels. “Looks like you’re on your knees for me.” He teased and laughed, a frown appearing on my face, i rolled my eyes and shook my head at his behaviour.
“Well then, it’s settled…” Jay turned towards me and kai’s figure on the ground, “You’re staying with us.” Lloyd finished the sentence as he pointed his thumb at himself with a smug grin on his face. I yelled in shock at the answer i was given. “Theres no way you’re making me stay at your stupid hideout!!” I glared my hard eyes at Lloyd.
“Well, we don’t think it’s a good idea to have you back at the prison, since you escaped from that before.” Zane stated.
Groaning, i laid my head back on the wall.
Well this will be a fun night…

Carnations | Cole Brookstone x fem!reader | Part 8
Ghosts are real.
Previous part, Masterlist, Next Part
Tumblr media
“Winter is coming.” Kai sighed as he looked to the sky and felt the breeze. It was cold but it was also the end of autumn.
“Alright, Jon Snow.” Jay scoffed.
“Sit down before you hurt yourself.” Cole added and Kai sat down in shame.
“Why can’t we go back to the monastery?” Peach asked and they all looked at each other with frowns.
“That makes so much more sense.” Jay said.
“The monks are there to protect them.” Cole added.
“The barrier is in place so no one can haunt Y/n.” Kai also added.
“The monastery is statistically the safest place for them to stay. Morro has made his plans to abduct them perfectly clear and it is actually unwise to keep them at a place he has already been and knows the location of.” Zane informed and they all looked between each other.
“Group huddle!” Cole stated and then ignored how it took two attempts for the hands to not phase through him.
“I’m actually really cold.” I said to Peach who was walking about like she hadn’t been shot the day before. The tea here really was magical and two doses healed up her wound in hours.
“Have you got a scarf?” She asked and I looked at her, incredulously.
“I came here with you! I’ve got Cole’s spare clothes and a Oodie which Wu gave to me because he thought it was a blanket.” I said and she shrugged.
“Misako has a lot of scarfs. She might lend you one.” Peach said and I debated it.
“Wu didn’t know I got him an Oodie? I thought so hard about what to get him as well. Man, I hate Christmas!” Jay yelled before getting pulled back into the huddle.
We all fell into our own conversations before:
“-sent a message! Ronin sent a message!” Nya yelled and we all jumped up. The boys threw each other out the huddle to look at and follow her.
0:57————|——— -2:10
I looked at Peach in question as a bird landed on Zane’s arm.
“Uhm…” I said and Cole smiled.
“Don’t question it.” He winked before the bird projected an image. I jumped in shock and he laughed a bit. Peach smiled in amusement.
“I can't talk loud, but I wanted to let you know, Nya, you were right. Morro didn't hold his end of the bargain. And Misako was right too. The scroll and sword did reveal the tomb. I know where it's located. I know you don't have the sword, but I know you can beat them to the tomb.” Ronin explained before gasping and looking off to side. “They're coming.” He said before the hologram disappeared.
“Where is it? Where's the tomb?” Jay asked frantically.
“The Caves of Despair! The tomb is in the Caves of Despair!” Ronin said before the message faltered and went.
“Caves of Despair? We've been there. I don't remember seeing any tomb.” Wu said and Misako looked at him.
“But there are still miles of unexplored mines. It could be there.” Misako reminded him.
“But why should we believe him? It could be a trap.” Nya said and Kai butted in.
“We don't have the scroll and we don't have the sword. With Lloyd's life at stake, what other choice do we have?” Kai reminded and Cole nodded, wrapping his arm around me.
“We're in.” Cole agreed with him and I looked up.
“Who is we?!” I asked, remembering the horror of facing Morro less than a day ago.
“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. What good will it do us if it's all just a setup?” Nya asked.
“The rest of the ninja are right. Even a misstep could be a step in the right direction. We cannot afford to do nothing. The ninja will go. As for you two, you're still not ready.” Garmadon said in our direction and Nya groaned at the fact no one was listening to her.
“But-!” Peach went to say and Garmadon grabbed both her shoulders to keep her steady and facing him.
“We cannot put you on the line when you’re the one thing keeping Lloyd fighting.” Garmadon reminded her and I moved towards her. “Those ghosts want you two girls. Your powers are key to them. You are key to them. You must stay protected and safe. No matter how skilled you may be now. It cannot protect you against Morro and it definitely can’t help you to protect, Y/n.” Garmadon told us, well mainly Peach.
“Do they really want to take us?” I asked and they all nodded.
“Big time.” Jay said and I frowned.
“What for? If they succeed… what are we going to do?” I said and Cole looked at me like I was stupid.
“Babe, whilst I’m out. Get some sleep please.” He said and I frowned at him.
“I slept like a baby last night.” I said in protest and he rolled his eyes.
0:57————|——— -2:10
“It's a wrap.” Ghoultar said and the Ghosts laugh as Morro releases Ronin from his possession.
“Pretty good impersonation. But they'll never buy it was me.” Ronin groaned and Morro looked down on him in amusement.
“We shall see.” Morro said and turned to look at Lloyd who was trapped in a cage.
“You're no Green Ninja. The Green Ninja would never need to lie. You’re no man either. A man would never plot to take advantage of girls they’re interested in.” Lloyd stated and Morro smirked.
“Oh, you won't be the Green Ninja for long. As for my manhood, don’t question it. Save your strength, because I'll be needing it. Prepare for a voyage. We head to the tomb at dawn.” Morro said and the ghosts cheered.
“What about Ronin?” Soul archer asked.
“Leave him. He's worthless now.” Morro said.
“I met those girls you and Cole can’t seem to shut up about…” Ronin told Lloyd who loved over to him with solemn face.
“Yeah?” Lloyd asked and Ronin nodded with a smile.
“They’re really something…” He said and Lloyd chuckled.
“They’re crazy.”
“Yep. I was trying to word it nicely but… yep. Cole’s girl… Y/n?… walked in on me taking the sword and told me to help clean the shop. Completely clueless.” Ronin told him and he chuckled again.
“She wouldn’t have known…” Lloyd said, tired.
“Are you going to be okay?” Ronin asked and Lloyd smiled at him, exhausted.
“Just help my team… and keep the girls safe. If you really do care… if not… go home.” Lloyd said and Ronin looked away guiltily. Holding his stomach which had been stitched by the ghosts.
0:57————|——— -2:10
“Should I feel bad that I really hurt Ronin?” I asked and Peach turned over. The elders had advised us to try and get some sleep. I had slept like a baby the night before but Peach was a different story.
“Are you human?” She asked and I frowned.
“Of course.” I said.
“Than yes you’re supposed to feel things.” She said and I deadpanned.
“But you get what I mean, right?” I asked and she sighed.
“Do you feel bad?” She asked and I nodded.
“Yeah…” I said and she blinked.
“Okay… is this really bothering you?” She asked and I shrugged.
“A lots happened.” I said and Peach turned back over.
“A lot does happen around here. Just wait until you see the monastery, it’s really pretty.” She told me and I laid back down. We had both decided to share a bed for some reason.
“Did you know Lloyd has a dragon?” I asked and She sighed again. Wanting to sleep.
“Yes… I named him.” She said and I turned over.
“They all have names?! Like they are dogs?!” I asked and she nodded.
“Rocky, Wisp, Flame, Shard, Tidal and Pooch.” She said and my jaw fell.
“You named Lloyd’s dragon Pooch?!” I questioned and she shrugged.
“He looks like a Pooch! He wags his tail and everything when gets really excited or you scratch the right spot!” She exclaimed and my eyes widened even more.
“You pet it?! Him?! You do realise how massive and scary they are?!” I said and she shrugged.
“Their emotions are linked with the ninjas. They won’t hurt you or dislike you unless the ninja have some sort of thing against you.” Peach said and I shook my head.
“I’m going to sleep. This is all so fucked.” I said and I felt her nod.
“You get used to it.” She told me and I paused.
“How?” I asked and she sighed.
“It becomes your life… normal in a sense. And they make it worth it. You’ll see.” She told me and I paused again.
“I think I haven’t been with Cole long enough to say that yet…” I said.
“What you think and feel are two very different things.” She told me and I shrugged.
“He still hasn’t asked me to be his girlfriend.” I said and she giggled.
“He calls you that. Told the boys and Lloyd that he’s in love with you and that he thought it was already established. But talk to him if it’s still bothering you.” Peach said and it went silent. It was a good 10 minutes before I went to talk to her again.
“What about if Morro-“
“Fucks sake, Y/n, I was almost asleep!” She groaned.
“I’m sorry.”
0:57————|——— -2:10
When we got onto this flying ship? I don’t know. How many missed calls do I have from my college? We’re in the double digits. The things you do for a giant, bulked up, good-looking, kind, treatsyoubetterthananyoneevercould, man with good hair too. The senseis and Misako were at the top desk and Wu had his hands placed firmly on the wheel. I still didn’t feel like he knew how to drive it.
“Do you think they even know we’re here?” Peach asked and they all turned around alarmingly.
“They might.” I said sarcastically and she shrugged.
“Do you two know how dangerous-?!” Wu began but Peach put a hand up.
“If I hear that again I’m gonna lose my mind so yeah.” She said and Wu shook his head. “Also if we get Lloyd back I’m not waiting until he gets back to see if he’s okay or not.” She said and I nodded.
“I’m also worried about Cole. They’re literally underwater right now.” I said and they shared a look before Wu shrugged and went back to steering.
“These two are your responsibility, brother.” Wu said and Garmadon sighed and shook his head.
“You will not engage with any fighting. You will stay on this ship and help to treat the inevitably injured ninja.” Garmadon said and we nodded like children and his gaze softened. “See I told you we should’ve let them join from the start.” He said to his brother and wife who looked back at him incredulously.
“Brother…” Wu said in disapproval and Garmadon stood his ground.
“You said they are to be my pupils, I have faith in them.” Garmadon said and Wu rolled his eyes.
“What does he mean pupil- what do you mean pupil?” I asked and Peach crossed her arms but she looked like she already knew what was going on.
“Well, in order to live at the monastery, you have to be training or teaching. Since you two will be living with us from now on, you have to be training.” Misako said and Peach looked tired all ready. I shook my head.
“But- I’m in college?” I questioned and Peach frowned.
“We’ve been gone a week. Missed all our lectures and we’re ignoring their calls. I think when I next step in that apartment I’m gonna see two letters that say “bye bye” on them.” Peach told me and I shrugged.
“I’m out of 9k then.” I huffed and Peach frowned.
“You were on a scholarship.” She said and I shrugged. “Well you’re out of 9k then.” I said and she frowned again.
“Not exactly-“
“You weren’t on a scholar!” I said and she looked at me.
“No but Borg was paying my college fees.” She said and my jaw dropped.
“Cyrus Borg?!” I asked and she nodded. “What the fuck?”
“Borg funds our monastery and pays any tuition fees for the ninja and Peach as a thanks for the countless times we’ve saved him but mainly from the overlord.” Garmadon said and Misako elbowed him in the side.
“Gratitude, dear. Let’s leave it at that.” Misako said and Garmadon gave us a knowing wink.
0:57————|——— -2:10
“Is everyone okay?” Zane asked as they all stood up from the giant ice slide they just fell down.
“What did we get ourselves into?” Kai asks and moved towards the walls of ice.
“Oh, it's a maze! I'm great at mazes!” Jay says after he climbs one of the ice walls.
“Huh! Whoa! If my reflection means anything, I'm starting to think we won't be breaking out of this maze any time at all.” Kai said, as the older reflection of himself mirrored his movements,
“My reflection. Is that...me? I look older, but our attire is different. I don't believe these reflections reveal our inability to escape, but a mere glimpse of our future selves.” Zane filled in and Cole kicks himself off of one of the walls and turns to look at his reflection.
“Misako said "To move forward, don't look ahead." Is that what it means? Wait a minute, why is it I can't see my reflection? Where is my reflection?” He says alarmed. No reflection? Does that mean no future? Is he going to die?!
“It's probably because you're a Ghost.” Kai said,
“Ghosts cast reflections, Kai. He's probably just looking in the wrong place.” Zane said and Cole hoped he was right.
“I am looking at the same place you are.” Cole told him.
“Hey, guys, guess what. I get an awesome eyepatch! And there's something else…”He gasps when he sees it's Nya.
“What, Jay? What is so great that you see that I clearly cannot?” Close said, frustrated.
“N-nothing. Just an eyepatch.” Jay backtracked and Cole rolled his eyes before looking back at his reflection except he could see someone walking towards him.
“Wait a minute, I think I see me.” Cole said and the figure walking towards him became more visible until his girlfriend was stood in his reflection’s place. She was older, smile lines beginning to form yet still so beautiful with a child in her arms who was cuddling into her. The child didn’t look like her or Cole and he felt his heart sunk. He looked at her alarmingly and she rolled her eyes in her usual fashion and looked over her shoulder and seemingly yell at someone? A larger figure appeared and his older self appeared. He wore an orange headband in his hair and a few scars were visible on his face and bare arms. He kissed her and the little boy’s cheeks before staring back at Cole. His older self looked more confident, relaxed and content. From his reflection he could tell two things… 1) he wasn’t going to forever be a ghost. 2) he was going to marry and have a child with Y/n. Soon another figure appeared in his reflection but it wasn’t another person. “It's Morro! He's in the maze too!”
0:57————|——— -2:10
Soon we were at the tomb of the first spinjitsu master… Wow! I was staring at a mountain with a little opening on the side. How impressive. The two sensei looked at the tomb longingly, I looked at Peach questioningly. She only smiled at me and Garmadon looked to Wu.
“Do you remember when Father used to make us clean the golden weapons everyday all for a bowl of-“
“Rice pudding.” Wu finished off and smiled. “I should’ve found this a long time ago, if only I wasn’t so blindsided.” Wu said and Garmadon shook his head.
“If father wanted us to of found his tomb first, he would’ve made it so.” Garmadon told him and patted his shoulder.
I couldn’t enjoy their sentimental moment because soon I felt that sensation come over me. The one where the world feels so much intense. The one where my breathing and the beat of my heart is louder than those speaking next to me. Then I was face to face with someone. But they didn’t look like a ghost, they didn’t even look like they knew I was here. An older man with a bit of a goatee stared at me, a woman joined him. They were older but still clinging to their natural hair colour. The older man brought his hammer down on a piece of metal and it became clear. They were blacksmiths. He brought his piece of metal over to a fire and began moulding it into shape. The woman however brought two cupcakes towards him and handed him one. He looked at her with a sad look as she smiled to try and change the mood. “Happy birthday, Nya.” They said before blowing out the singular candle in the cupcake and holding each other, sorrowfully.
“What the hell was that?!” I heard Peach question and my eyes closed as my head began to pound. I forgot where I was and it took me a minute to realise I was on the floor.
“A vision…” Garmadon filled in and my throat felt tighter and dryer and I could swear I was about to throw up. I felt my eyes water as Peach began glitching. “-Do not give in! You cannot go where she sees. You are not ready.” Garmadon placed a hand on her as she closed her eyes tightly.
“I can’t! There’s no where to go to! She hasn’t seen into another dimension!” Peach told him before a blast of green energy sent us all flying across the deck and reminded us of why we’re even here. Lloyd was back in control of his body. Peach was flinging herself over the side of the ship as soon as she stood again and I felt myself begin to pass out. But god did I want to follow her. I pulled myself up and clung to the pole on the ship. The full ache from colliding into it kept me grounded. Wu wrapped my arm around his shoulders and helped me to stand.
“Do not waste your energy. You are not used to these powers yet.” He told me and I nodded.
“But Peach-“
“She may lack training but she has good control over her outbursts. She will be fine. You, however, must focus on yourself for now.” He told me and I watched the ninjas come sprinting out of the cave with Lloyd, carrying his weight between them as he tried his best to even stand and soon collapsed onto Peach, she held him and he closed his eyes in relief. She knelt into the sand and he wrapped his arms around her, tiredly. I felt all my energy dump and my knees buckled before I could warm Wu. The impact on my knees was all I could feel and I reached back to feel the back of my head, there was some blood on my fingertips. Probably from when I was flung into the pole on the ship. Thanks Lloyd. I groaned and went to sit up. What a shit day.
“-you alright? That was quite the hit.” Garmadon said as they both went to pull me up but I protested. Just wanting to sit for now.
“You’d be better off sitting down on the seats inside. Then staying out here.” Wu told me and I let them pull me up only for my weight to be transferred to someone else.
I felt hands lift my jaw up and I looked up to see Cole who smiled. He looked exhausted. He smiled and it didn’t take him long to pick me up and I leant into him, tired. He was still alive- well here. I held onto him in relief and he held me tighter as he began moving towards the entrance of the ship. I closed my eyes, ready to pass out.
“No baby, come on. Don’t close your eyes. I haven’t seen you all day. And boy have I had a long day.” He said and I chuckled.
“Tell me all about it when there’s not a hole in my head.” I told him and he laughed.
“Wait- a hole in your head?!” Cole asked and I shrugged just as Nya climbed on board.
“They took the Realm Crystal.” Nya said as she hopped on board and I pushed Cole shoulder to make him stop and turn around.
“But what about the others?” The other ninja arrive with Kai helping Peach to support Lloyd.
“Hey Pookie, rough day?” I asked him and he let out a hoarse laugh.
“Clearly not as rough as you.” He joked and I smiled.
“What? Didn’t enjoy your holiday?” Cole joined and he let out another laugh.
“Worst holiday of my life. Turns out… it’s not less tiring if someone else controls you.” He said and we laughed. “Sorry about the blast guys. Morro didn’t make use of the green bomb inside me.” Lloyd followed and Peach shook her head.
“You need to go to bed.” She said and he smirked.
“Why, you need me to catch up on lost time?” He asked and we all laughed as Peach shook her head.
“Oh my-“ she started but he carried on.
“-I think I’m just gonna have to lay there, let you be on top for once-“
“I will drop you-“
“-Don’t drop me, it’ll take me longer to be at peak performance-“
“-I’m going to drop you in a moment.” Kai joined in and Lloyd looked at him offended.
“You don’t need to be a peak performance-ah!” He said as both let go and be stumbled on his own two feet for a moment before falling back into them.
“Well they made it! All right!” Nya cheered and Wu nodded in amusement.
“I knew they could, thank goodness!” Wu said and Garmadon took over Peach holding Lloyd and she stretched out her arm.
“He weighs a fuck ton.” Peach complained and I laid back in Cole’s arm.
“I wouldn’t want to try and carry him.” I gestured to Cole who pretended to drop me.
“How dare you! I gave up cake-“
“-You literally buy the weird cake pop things from my shop every day-“
“-they don’t count, they’re like the size of my pinky-“
“-which is really big compared to any normal person’s middle finger let alone pinky-“
“-I get it! You have a size kink-“
“-I have one?! You’re the one who couldn’t stop comparing-“
“Enough! I know too much about your sex lives as it is…” Garmadon held his head in shame.
“Well, my son. You have saved him.” Misako said in thanks? I’m can’t figure out this sensei language.
“Yes. Yes, they did.” Wu said in pride. Okay this was a good moment.
“You all sacrificed so much to save me. Thanks…” Lloyd said and I nodded like I did anything.
“Heh, I promised to look after you, didn't I?” Kai said and ruffled his hair.
“But now Ninjago's gonna be cursed.” Lloyd told him
“Yes, but now we have you.” Zane said and I fought the instinct to say ‘aww’.
“And we’ve got our powers back too.” Jay added.
“As you get strong, so will we. And they haven't even seen us at full strength.” Cole said and then sent a wink my way. “Neither have you, doll.”
“How do we drop him?” Jay asked and I cringed too.
“Ick.” I said and his face fell.
“Worser than Kai.” Lloyd added and Cole turned sharply towards him.
“I turned into a ghost to save your ass and within the first two minutes of you being free- your insulting me?!.” He said and Lloyd raised his hands to the best of the ability.
“Sorry, dude.”

Kid lloyd gets sick and the ninja take care of him??
Or- Jay and lloyd doing silly antics and the ninja being so done with their crap??
(P.s. get well soon!❤️)
Thank you for the well wishes! I went with the first idea since I immediately had inspiration for it (thank you, Darkness Shall Rise, AKA one of my top three episodes of the show) and I hope you enjoy!
Buzz. Buzz.
Cole knew he couldn't get on his phone as he stood outside of the front steps of the bank.
His boss was already upset with him for stopping that elderly woman, no matter how many times he explained that she was acting suspicious, so answering his phone was only gonna get him in more trouble if not straight up fired.
And he couldn't afford to lose this job, not when the only one making more money than him was Zane, even if it was only by two dollars.
Buzz. Buzz.
'Maybe it'll go voicemail, or they'll just give up and text me. I can check it on my lunch break.' Cole hoped as he observed the sidewalk.
Buzz. Buzz.
"Oh, screw it," Cole muttered, taking a look around to make sure his boss wasn't anywhere to be seen before pulling his phone out and answering it, not even bothering to look at the number, "Hello? I'm at work-"
"Do we have Tylenol?" Lloyd's congested voice cut him off and stopped annoyance from continuing to build in his chest.
"We don't have any children's, I don't think. Zane's going grocery shopping after his shift though, I can ask him to pick some up on my break," Cole explained quickly, "are you okay? You sound snotty."
"My head hurts, but I'm-" Cole winced at the sound of Lloyd's coughing fit coming through the phone and was greeted by a much more hoarse voice finishing his sentence, "I'm okay."
"No, you're sick is what you are," He retorted while trying to calculate who would be off work the soonest in his head and simultaneously trying his best to not think about her since that was the last thing he needed right now, "look, I can ask to clock out early-"
"No! We need the money!"
Cole sighed because Lloyd was right; if they didn't save up the money for rent, they'd be homeless which would be another obstacle that stood in the way of them stopping Lord Garmadon and the Serpentine.
"Okay, okay, I'll stay," Cole agreed even though every congested sniffle made him want to leave and get back to the penthouse so the ten year old wasn't alone, "but I'll ask the others, see if one of them is almost done with work."
"I really don't need-"
"Yes, you do. You're sick and can't even reach the medicine cabinet," Cole argued and when he only got a huff in response, he continued, "I gotta go now, squirt. Can you go lay down until one of us gets home?"
"Yeah."
"Alrighty. Be good." Cole insisted before hanging up, only to be met with the scowling face of his boss. 'Shit.'
"So now you're taking personal phone calls on company time?"
"It was an emergency, my little brother's sick-"
"This is your second strike, Brookstone," his boss cut him off with a hand held up, "do not get a third."
Cole waited until the man was out of earshot to say what he was really thinking, "I need to get a better job", before he pulled out his phone and opened the group chat to type a quick message.
"Lloyd's sick. Needs meds and someone to watch him."
And with that, he put his phone on silent and pocketed it; after all, he had done everything he could, he just had to hope that one of the others had access to their phone.
"How do we even take care of him? He's Garmadon's son, what if he has a completely different recovery process?"
"Jay, what the actual fuck are you talking about?"
"What did the thermometer say again?"
"100.4, but I would not be surprised if it has risen since we returned."
Lloyd's eyes burned as he tried to open them; after calling Cole, he figured that the best thing to do was lay down on the couch until one of the others got back with Tylenol but after taking a nap, his clothes were stuck to his body with uncomfortable sweat despite just how cold he was.
Even though he felt it building in his throat, the deep cough that made his head pound and his chest burn caught him off guard, as well as effectively silencing the bickering that had started in the other room before bringing what sounded like two sets of footsteps right to him.
"Lloyd? Are you awake?" A hand pressed against his forehead and gently brushed his hair away from his eyes, one that was warm and calloused against his soft skin, "he's burning up."
Lloyd finally managed to open his eyes, craning his neck to look up at Cole's face looking down at him before looking right at Kai who still had his hand against his forehead and turned his tight frown into a smile that anyone could have seen right through.
"Hey, buddy. We got you some medicine and Zane's making dinner."
"Not hungry."
"You gotta take some medicine regardless," Cole cut in as Kai pulled his hand away from his face and walked towards the kitchen, "plus, chicken noodle soup, especially Zane's recipe, is a surefire way to clear out that sinus system of yours even if you just drink the broth."
"Hey, what are we making Lloyd take right now?!" Jay called from the kitchen which made Cole sigh while smacking his hand gently onto his forehead in annoyance.
Lloyd had to fight back against the cough that built up in his chest from giggling at the action.
"I'll be right back. Stay awake, okay?"
The nod only made his head pound harder behind his eyes, but he kept it to himself until the last of the ninja made their way into the kitchen when he draped a hand over his eyes.
"You wanna sit up for a sec and take this?"
Cole's voice was gentle, almost in a parental way but Lloyd did not want to sit up; not when his head felt like a bowling ball, his limbs felt like jelly and he could barely keep his eyes open with how much the light burned them.
"Not really."
"Lloyd-"
"Everything hurts."
"I know. I know you feel like shit and I'm sorry that I wasn't here sooner, but the medicine will help you feel better and we're working to get shifts arranged so someone can keep an eye on you-"
"Is that gonna mean less money?"
Cole pulled in a sigh as he rubbed a hand over his face before his dark brown eyes pierced into Lloyd's green ones.
"Lloyd, this whole job and house and money thing, you don't have to worry about it. We'll figure it out, all you need to worry about is getting better, okay?"
Despite how much he wanted to protest, about how the only reason they had to work this hard was because they wanted to make sure he got the best training possible, his head hurt too much to push back against Cole's statement, "okay."
"Alright, then let's get you medicated and in bed. Sleeping on the couch cannot be good for your back."
It hadn't taken long to get Lloyd in bed.
Kai remembered when the kid used to fight, punch, scream and even bite on a few occasions when they had first brought him aboard The Bounty every time they tried to get him to bed.
Sensei and Zane were the only ones who ever had any luck getting him to lay down and go to sleep at a reasonable time, even though he was still convinced that Jay had let Lloyd stay up past his bedtime multiple times.
He knew that most of it was because he was sick and barely able to sit up to take the medication that he had called Cole to get, let alone bicker with the others about how he should be allowed to stay awake past eight thirty p.m.
But at the same time, he couldn't help but wonder if some of it was the boy grappling with how serious his destiny was.
It had been different when Kai thought it would be him to defeat Lord Garmadon, that it was just like any other ordinary battle despite the heavy weight of it, but now that they knew that one day it would be his very own son that would stand in front of him and strike him down.
Kai just hoped that Lloyd's gi would no longer have to be cuffed around his ankles and wrists before that happened.
He was relieved when his phone alarm went off, announcing that it was time for him to free Cole from beside duty, even if it was just so he could escape his thought process.
When he walked into Lloyd's bedroom, he wasn't surprised to see Cole's head resting against his neck in the armchair that sat in the corner of the room; seeing the youngest of their team sick was stressful on all of them, but knowing just how close it was to home for Cole added another layer of worry to Kai's already frayed nerves.
Despite how peaceful he looked and how tired he had been from standing for nearly twelve hours straight for the last couple of days with the exception of a half-hour lunch break, Kai knew that if he didn't send him to lay down in his real bed until he left again at five that his neck would regret it in the morning.
"Cole?" He whispered, only getting a response in the form of an aggressive jerk when he rested his hand on his shoulder, "sorry."
"No, no, you're good," Cole shook his head, standing up and twisting his head to the right until his neck let out a small 'crack', "be careful with that chair, it'll do a number on your neck."
"Noted."
"Jay set his alarm?"
"Yeah, I watched him do it," Kai nodded, leaving out the part where he hovered over Jay's shoulder as he set multiple alarms due to the fact that he was notorious for hitting the snooze button and ending up being late, "go get some sleep."
Cole nodded with a mumbled "night" as he left the room, shutting the door behind him and leaving him alone in the dark room with Lloyd who was still asleep despite their hushed whispers.
Kai couldn't stop himself from brushing the hair out of the boy's eyes before resting his hand on his flushed cheek and letting the feverish warmth seep into his skin for a moment before sitting down in the armchair.
Maybe he couldn't stop Lloyd's destiny from hitting him way too soon and way too fast, maybe he didn't have his elemental powers anymore thanks to the lack of a fire sword, and maybe he couldn't get enough money being a party entertainer, despite doing the human pinata, that wouldn't pale in comparison to the others salaries.
But, he was able to sit in the darkness on the off chance that Lloyd woke up and needed someone there to comfort him, give him more Tylenol or even just let him know that he wasn't alone; for Kai, given everything else going on, that was enough.

-----------------------------------------
It was a cold day, and Cole knew that it couldn’t be more fitting. He found it hard to believe that it already had been a month since Zane’s death, since Zane’s bunk sat empty, since they ate a meal that he cooked. It had only felt like days.
Cole still felt numb. It didn’t feel real, none of it did. A part of him still expected to see Zane in the kitchen after a mission, or on the couch, trying to make sense of whatever was on the television. Not dead. Not gone.
There was a light dusting of snow on Zane’s statue when Cole arrived. It seemed fitting that the statue of the Master of Ice had snow on it, yet a part of Cole wanted to clear it off, too. He didn’t know what Zane would’ve wanted.
Truthfully, Cole didn’t know what Zane would’ve wanted at all. He didn’t know how Zane would’ve wanted them to grieve, to move on. He didn’t know what Zane desired for the world when he was gone. At this point, Cole was just going through the motions, hoping that he was doing the right thing.
But there was no right thing, was there? All there was was loss and confusion.
There was a reason Cole ran to the mountains when his mom died and when his father’s expectations became too unbearable; escaping to nature was escaping your problems. Every part of him wanted to do the same thing now, yet he knew that he couldn’t. He needed to help his team. He needed to be there for them, especially Jay.  Lloyd, Kai, and Nya were struggling, that he knew, but none were hurting as much as Jay was.
Jay had never lost anyone before. Jay had never felt the sting of death until Zane, and Cole knew that Jay had no clue how to feel. Cole couldn’t let Jay go through this alone. He remembered back when it was just himself, Jay, and Zane. How they had grown so close in such a short time. How that, despite how different they all were, he knew that a piece of him would die if he lost one of them.
That piece was his heart, and he could feel it crumbling. He couldn’t imagine how Jay was feeling now, he had grown close to Zane, too. And despite Cole and Jay being at odds right now, Cole couldn’t let Jay work through it all alone.
Cole knew, in that moment, that Zane would’ve wanted them all to help each other. So that’s what Cole was going to do.
------------------------------------
He found Jay in the Birchwood Forest, within the walls of the workshop that Zane once called home. Jay was hunched over one of the workbenches, running a hand through his hair, pouring over notes upon notes, drawing of Zane, and even a drawing of the falcon that Dr. Julien made.
“Jay.”
Jay yelped, turning around, his arm pulled back to throw a wrench in Cole’s direction, but stopped before he could let it go, his eyes widening in recognition.
“Cole! What…what are you doing here?” Jay began, wary, and he looked like he was preparing for a fight.
“I just wanted to check up on you.” Cole exclaimed slowly, “What are you up to?”
“‘I’m fine! Just busy.” Jay was clearly getting defensive, and Cole let him step further back.
Cole couldn’t help but take in Jay’s appearance, his heart growing heavier and heavier as he did so. Jay looked like he hadn’t slept or eaten in days, his freckles dark against his pale skin. His blue eyes, usually so expressive and happy, were dimmed with sadness and caution.
“Busy with what?” Cole asked carefully, not wanting to upset Jay, “Nya told me you’ve been away for a few days.”
“I’m rebuilding him.” Jay replied shortly, pointing to one of the desks. “I’m getting him back.”
Cole frowned as he looked at all of the notes and blueprints scattered around them, some clearly Jay’s, others not. He didn’t know why he was surprised Jay was trying to do this, because of course the inventor of the team would want to bring Zane back, and of course Jay would think that there was some hope in a hopeless situation. It broke Cole’s heart to see.
“Jay. Zane’s gone.”
“No, he’s not. He’s a robot, and if I learned anything from living in a junkyard, it is that everything broken can be fixed!” Jay insisted, his voice rising.
“He’s not broken. He’s gone.” Cole said softly, brokenly,  and he could see the desperation clear on Jay’s face, the agony that Jay was no doubt feeling. Then, the agony morphed to anger, and Cole knew that things were going to get back, fast.
“You don’t know anything, Cole!” Jay replied, stepping away from his grip. “Why are you even here, anyways? It’s not like you care about me.”
“I do care about you, Jay.”
The only response he got was a mean look, and Cole figured that he deserved that.
“And I wanted to check up on you. Zane wouldn’t want us going through this alone.” Cole couldn’t talk about the situation with Nya right now, he was only here to help Jay with Zane’s death. No matter how much Jay was trying to turn the conversation away from it, Cole wasn’t budging.
Jay shook his head rapidly, turning back to the workstation. “I can make this work. I know it.”
“He wouldn’t want you obsessing over this, Jay. You know that.”
Jay closed his eyes, his breaths short, as if he was holding back tears. Cole knew that he might be.
“But what else am I supposed to do?” Jay eventually asked weakly, his voice strained. “How am I supposed to fix this?”
Cole hesitated for a second before wrapping Jay into a hug, one that Jay stood stiffly in. “I’m so sorry, buddy, but you can’t. None of us can fix this. But I’m here to help, okay? Despite everything that happened, I’m here, and things are going to get better.”
“How?”
How indeed. How was Cole supposed to help his best friend grieve when he didn’t know how to himself?
“We’ll take it step by step. Why don’t we go home, and you could get some sleep?”
Jay nodded hesitantly, pulling away from Cole’s grip.
Silently, Cole let go of Jay and quickly gathered Jay’s bag that was tucked in the corner, slinging it over his shoulder. The two made their way up the winding stairs, Jay trailing behind, always looking back, as if he wanted to go back down. But Cole would always encourage him forward.
The snowy terrain nearly blinded Cole as he stepped out into the daylight, the white snow a stark difference to the dark interior of the workshop. Jay was soon beside him, shivering, and Cole took off his coat.
“Here, take my coat.”
Jay took it after a moment’s thought, with a muttered thank you, putting it on over his thin ninja gi. “Are things ever going to get better?”
Cole took a moment to respond. Would it? Had things ever gotten better since his mom died? Would it ever, now that Zane was gone? And would things ever get better between him and Jay? Right now, things felt pretty hopeless. Cole didn’t know exactly what to do but be honest.
“The world might seem a little dimmer, a little different, but it will get better in time, I think.” Cole eventually said, looking out to the horizon. “But I don’t really know. What I do know is that I’ll be here for you, okay? You’re not going to deal with this alone.”
Jay turned to him then, a little bit of hope in his eyes, and Cole found himself thinking that maybe they could help each other get better, that maybe the loss of a friend would be the thing that would heal what was broken between them.
Cole was wrong. It took the return of a friend, and a great sacrifice, to fix their friendship, but for now all Cole could do was hope for a brighter future ahead.

Two Years, Five Months, and Three Days
I have arrived with the next part of the bruise childhood friends au, only *checks notes* two months late. This is the last part before the grand finale where Jay and Cole will get together. It’s set just after the ending of 'Cause daddy doesn't love me, mommy is a god'. Warning for swearing, cross posted on ao3.
~
“This is the Monastery?” Jay asked. He shifted his duffel bag to the other shoulder and looked over at Wu, who nodded.
“It is the Monastery of Spinjitsu. This is where you will train,” he said.
“It’s so… big,” Jay said. How could such a large building be hiding up in the mountains, unnoticed by anyone? It seemed impossible, despite the evidence standing right in front of him.
“It was designed to house multiple generations of people at a time. There were nearly twenty living together at one point.”
“And now?”
Wu hummed. “Three, including you and me.”
“Sensei, there’s only two of us.”
“Three. I have another student. He’s about your age, actually,” Wu said.
“Another student? You didn’t mention that.”
“I didn’t? Well, no time like the present to meet him, then.” Wu pushed the doors open and entered, Jay following closely.
The Monastery was beautiful, Jay thought. Everything about it was bright and shiny. It didn’t seem very much like a home, though. While intricate and very complex, it was cold and impersonal as well. For something meant to house multiple families, it didn’t look lived in.
“So, where’s this other student?” Jay asked.
“Ah, he’s around here somewhere. Probably in his room. You’ll come across him eventually.”
“Okay.”
Wu looked at Jay critically. “You must be tired from your journey,” he said. “Take any one of the empty rooms and rest. You can start training some other day.”
Jay was too tired to argue. Any excitement at being able to be a real life superhero had drained out hours ago, replaced with a bone-deep exhaustion. He took the first room on the left, thankful when it wasn’t occupied, and threw his bags on the floor. He’d unpack tomorrow, probably. And if not then, then definitely by the end of the week.
The room was rather plain. Off-white painted walls, a wooden door and window frame, simple furniture and bed. It gave the impression of a model room in some house showing.
Jay lay down on the bed, arms folded over his stomach. He should explore this place, figure out the layout. He’d need to know where the bathroom was, at the very least. But he also didn’t want to get up, not when he’d just gotten comfortable. Ugh. Sighing, Jay peeled himself off the floor and went down the hall, opening and closing doors as he passed.
On the fifth door he opened, he found what must have been the other student’s room. The walls were an eggshell white, much like Jay’s, but it was decorated. He could see a calendar, among other things, lining the walls. The bed was neatly made with a black comforter and pillows.
Jay closed the door. It wasn’t polite to be snooping in some stranger’s room, especially if said stranger was going to be his roommate-slash-vigilante-partner. First impressions had to be good, after all. He continued down the hall to find that it split into two. This entire building was practically a maze. And it seemed to be bigger on the inside. How did that even work?
“Ehhh, screw it,” Jay sighed. He picked the hall on the right, because ‘the right is always right,’ or something like that, and promptly got lost.
“This place is a freaking maze,” he groaned. “I’m gonna get lost and die from dehydration and hunger.”
“It’s not nearly that bad,” a voice said quietly. Jay spun around, nearly knocking the newcomer in the stomach, and locked eyes with a ghost.
Well, not a literal ghost, but close enough, for Cole Hence-Brookstone himself was standing in front of him. The same Cole who’d mysteriously disappeared two years ago. The same Cole who Jay had presumed dead.
Jay choked. “Cole?” His voice had an unfortunate resemblance to a cat coughing up a hairball.
Cole looked just as shocked as Jay felt. “Jay? What are you doing here? How are you here?”
“I could ask you the same thing,” Jay growled. He hadn’t seen Cole in years — not since they were eleven, back when Cole got sent to boarding school. They hadn’t kept contact, for whatever reason, and the last Jay had heard from him was a short letter. It had come out of nowhere, after nearly a year of radio silence, in which Cole’d said he was ‘leaving’ and didn’t know if he’d be back.
“Sensei Wu is training me,” Cole lifted his chin. “I’m guessing you’re his new student.”
“Got it in one,” Jay said. He glared at Cole a little more, as if doing that would make him explain the past few years.
“Look, Jay, I know that our last conversation was awkward, but—“
“Just shut up. I don’t want to hear it,” Jay shook his head. “You left, Cole. Just a shitty letter and nothing else. What is there to talk about?”
Cole looked down at the floor and picked at his nails. Vaguely, Jay could remember Cole having that habit even when they were kids.
“I didn’t want to hurt you,” Cole said quietly.
“Mission failed, then. A big fat zero-out-of-ten.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Whatever,” Jay said.
Cole nodded. He took a step past Jay. “See you during training then, or something.”
“Uh huh.”
“Okay,” Cole left, leaving Jay standing alone in the blank hallway.
~
Cole had fucked up. He’d fucked up so badly that he could never recover. How could Jay of all people be in the Monastery, with him, training to fight the forces of darkness? The universe was playing a cosmic joke on him.
Cole had missed Jay, of course he had. Jay was his first and only friend. He’d thought he was doing the right thing when he sent that letter to Jay, saying sorry for everything. He had never been a good friend to Jay, and he’d thought that Jay would be better off without him.
He probably had been, really.
But now they had no choice but to work together. Sensei Wu had explained that himself, said that he couldn’t just choose just anyone to be trained; it had to be specific people with the potential. And Jay must have the potential, since he was here in this building, his room only three doors down from Cole’s.
Cole hit the punching bag a little harder, nearly snapping the chain off. In any other case, he’d be sulking in his room, but Wu had drilled into his head that training was too important to miss. So he was standing in the training room, hoping to the First Master that Jay didn’t come in.
That was unlikely, though, Cole mused. They’d both avoided each other like the plague for the past two weeks. Wu hadn’t picked up on the awkwardness between them, at least not yet, but it was only a matter of time. Then he’d force them to work out their problems and be civil. The only times Cole even saw Jay was at dinner, during which they never talked.
He wished they would talk, though. It was suffocating to have his former best friend right there and not be getting along. Cole deserved it, he supposed, but he missed when they were kids. When they’d just talk and play games together, not a care in the world.
Cole hit the punching bag again. His knuckles were starting to hurt, sore and bleeding. Little droplets of red ran down his fingers. He must have been punching harder than he’d thought.
Wu would kill him if he didn’t take care of his injuries. Cole made his way to the sink, running his hands under the water until it ran clear. Then he put ointment on the wounds.
His hands were still visibly hurt. He could hear his mom chiding him, a voice in his head telling him to take better care of himself. “You need to be careful, Pumpkin,” she used to say. “I won’t always be around to help you.”
And she hadn’t, because Mom had died when Cole was just barely eleven. It still hurt to think of. Cole blinked back the tears — he refused to cry. Crying was something that got you beaten up and made fun of.
A cough and the sound of someone clearing their throat, and then a freckled face with reddish hair was in his vision, patting Cole on the shoulder.
“You okay, Cole?” Jay asked awkwardly. He was taller, now, Cole thought. Probably a good few inches taller than Cole.
“I— yeah,” Cole said.
“Um, okay, then,” Jay mumbled. He looked down at his feet. “See you at dinner.”
“Yeah,” Cole nodded. He watched Jay exit, then turned back to the mirror. His eyes weren’t too red and puffy, thankfully. Small mercies.
Why had Jay even bothered talking to Cole? He’d made it pretty clear that they weren’t friends. Did it mean he didn’t hate Cole? Was he trying to say that he didn’t quite forgive Cole, but was willing to be civil? Or maybe it was just because anyone would have done that, made sure another person was okay.
Why did people have to be so complicated? Stupid emotions and relationships. It must be the last option, Cole decided. They weren’t friends, no, but maybe they were acquaintances. He could work with that. Just two people who happened to be coworkers. That was more than acceptable.
~
Jay buried his face in his pillow and wondered if the world would make sense after banging his head on the headboard a few more times. It didn’t.
Jason Edward Gordon, you are the most socially awkward person on this side of Ninjago, he told himself. “You okay?” He’d asked Cole. Who even said that? It was very clear Cole had not been okay.
Jay groaned and tried to organise his thoughts. First thought, he was terrible at comforting people. He’d just left without even giving Cole a tissue. Second thought, he apparently did not hate Cole, no matter how much he wanted to. Third thought, his life was a mess and he was officially an idiot.
Hmmm. Not very organised at all. Jay hated emotions.
Should he go talk to Cole? He probably should. But the awkwardness alone would kill him. Jay resisted the urge to scream and just never come out of his room again.
Jay buried his face in the pillows again.
~
Dinner was… awkward, to say the least. Jay and Cole sat on opposite sides of the table and avoided talking. Wu served rice and some kind of fish, miraculously oblivious to the tension in the air.
“You two should start sparring tomorrow,” Wu said cheerfully. “I’m sure that Cole can teach you, Jay.”
“I— yeah,” Cole muttered. “Sure.”
“Sounds great,” Jay mumbled.
“I have to go collect the next member of your team soon, so you’re going to be alone for the next week or so. Dark forces are rising and we need as much help as we can get,” Wu continued.
“But Jay’s barely even started proper training,” Cole said.
“You can teach him, as I said earlier. You’re more than capable.”
“Mhm.”
“Are you sure I can’t learn from you, Sensei?” Jay laughed, perhaps a bit maniacally. He must have sounded like a crazy person.
“You will. Once I return with your teammate.”
“Ah.”
“There’s food in the freezer. Only Jay is allowed to reheat it.”
Cole made a face. “Why can’t I?”
“Because you set water on fire and I don’t want the Monastery burning down.”
Cole went back to his food, muttering about how he was perfectly able to cook. Jay doubted that, memories of burnt cookies and undercooked chicken in his mind.
“I’ll be going by tomorrow morning. Don’t leave the Monastery under any conditions,” Wu stood. “I have to rest for the night. You boys finish dinner on your own.”
“Yes, Sensei.”
Cole got up immediately after Wu left, collecting his plates and heading for the sink. He didn’t look at Jay, just washed the dishes and left. So Jay ended up sitting alone while he finished his dinner, poking at the vegetables and wondering why Sensei didn’t believe in seasoning. And also wondering how he was going to get through the next week, all alone with Cole.
There was no way he was going to survive the week.
~
Cole got up at exactly six in the morning, brushed his teeth, and made himself cereal for breakfast. Then he went to the training grounds and went through the obstacle course again.
Jay didn’t pull himself out of bed until nine — Sensei would have killed him for that. Cole chose not to say anything, though, just watched him go through the forms Wu had taught.
Your arms are too stiff,” Cole said quietly. He gestured to Jay’s position. “You need to relax a bit more.”
“Oh, yeah. Okay,” Jay flushed.
“That’s better,” Cole nodded. “You’re, um, doing good.”
“Thanks.”
Cole stood near Jay fur a few more minutes, making sure that he was doing the exercises properly, until Jay coughed and cleared his throat. “You can go do your own thing. I’m doing fine on my own.”
“You’re sure?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay,” Cole mumbled. Was he blushing? He was probably blushing.
“Thanks, though.”
Cole went back to the obstacle course. He’d talk to Jay later, hopefully.
~
Lunch was a silent affair, both Cole and Jay picking at last night’s leftovers. They didn’t bother talking — Jay went to the microwave and heated the food up, then they ate. Cole was just thankful that Jay wasn’t glaring at him anymore. Awkward silence was much better than anger.
“Wonder when Sensei will be back?” Cole asked, in an attempt to lighten the mood.
“Soon, hopefully. I don’t think we could survive without him.”
“Yeah, probably not. I mean, I still can’t cook. He won’t even let me in the kitchen!”
Jay actually laughed at that. “I can’t either! The housekeeper wouldn’t let me!”
“Not even to make like, microwave soup or something?”
“Bold of you to assume we had microwave meals. Dad — Cliff is still the crunchy all-natural granola mom he’s always been.”
“Can’t be worse than cafeteria food,” Cole joked. He didn’t mention Jay calling his father by his first name. They’d always had a complicated relationship.
“I don’t know, I’d rather have chicken nuggets than quinoa and plain lettuce.”
“Yeah, quinoa is pretty gross.”
“No mention on the plain lettuce?”
“Salads exist, Jay.”
“But— but those have like, dressing and croutons and stuff!”
“You’ve seen what they serve at certain restaurants,” Cole said.
Jay shuddered at the memory. “We agreed to never speak of that.”
“We did, didn’t we.”
The mood returned to the stifling awkwardness and discomfort that it had earlier. Cole stared down at his food and sighed. Jay shuffled and picked at his rice. Neither of them looked at each other.
“I’m sorry for ignoring you, before? I don’t really know why I did that,” Jay mumbled.
“I should be saying sorry, Jay,” Cole said. “I left you. Just sent a letter and pretended like you didn’t exist.”
“Yeah, but I should have talked to you. Reached out myself, instead of waiting.”
“I did want to, you know. Keep being friends. I just figured you’d be better off with someone else,” Cole admitted. “That’s not much of an excuse, though.”
“You were my first and only friend. I wouldn’t have wanted someone else.”
“I ignored you, and after that I thought there was no way of making up. So I left and hoped that that would solve my problems.”
“You just needed to ask to talk again,” Jay said. “I was never angry in the first place.”
“You weren’t?”
“No. I told you that last time we saw each other, before the whole ninja gig.”
“Maybe I just don’t listen well.”
“You idiot,” Jay smacked Cole on the hand.
“First Master, when did we end up being so awkward around each other? We used to be so close,” Cole laughed bitterly.
“Probably when your dad shipped you off to the other side of the continent,” Jay said dryly.
Cole scoffed. “Pretty sure it was earlier than that.”
“Well, somewhere around that time.”
“You’re not mad, anymore?”
“Nah. If I was mad, I’d be screaming and flipping the table.”
“It’s solid wood. Doubtful that it could even be shifted, much less flipped.”
“I still think I could,” Jay joked. “Just one swift kick and it goes toppling over.”
Cole laughed. “Other way around, Jay.”
“The table’s going to kick me?”
“You know what I meant.”
“I want to spar,” Jay declared. He hopped off the chair and dragged Cole towards the door. “You’re going to teach me all the cool ninja moves you’ve been learning.”
“I could beat you within ten seconds.”
“Then prove it, rocks-for-brains,” Jay taunted. “Loser has to wash the dishes.”
“You’re going to smell like dish soap for days.”
“Perhaps.”
“Then come on!” They walked out the doors to the training yard, hand in hand.
~
“Wu totally left early so that we’d make up, didn’t he.”
“Oh, yeah. Absolutely.”

History/Background:
Amy is a biologically enhanced human clone. She was created in an underground operation called Desolation Labs, under the Bloodlust project. There were originally a hundred clones created, and Amy is one of 13 remaining from the experimentation and the clones being pitted against each other. She was trained from birth to be a master assassin, to be sold off to the highest bidder when the time came. She found Master Wu, escaped the labs, and joined the ninja as the Purple Ninja and Master of Space. She regrets and fears all of the things she did under orders and all the lives she took- and deeply fears hurting her new family.
Relationships: Lloyd Garmadon (love of her life), Dr. Carol Anderson (mother, adopted), Cole Brookstone, Jay Walker, Kai Smith, Zane Julien (brother figures), Nya Smith (sister figure and close friend), Devin Hernandez-Cruz (best friend), Number Six (twin sister, hates her), Other clone sisters (hates them), Alec, Leslie, Josie, and Carol Garmadon (children), Sensei Garmadon (father in-law/mentor), Misako Garmadon (mother in-law)
Aliases: Number Seven (formerly), Purple Ninja, Master of Space
Additional Notes/Facts:
Pilots-Season 7/Replica, she's a couple inches taller than Lloyd. After she comes back and he got a growth spurt, he caught up to her and she's only a couple inches shorter than him
Replica is my fanseason for her, where the evil scientists that created her return and decide to finish what they started- use the clones to wipe out the Elemental Masters and "save humanity" as their leader Dr. Hatch so calls it. lots of angst/whump and really fucking dark :D
really protective of Lloyd. if you hurt him the next chance she gets she will not hesitate to make your life agony until you beg her to kill you, and then she'll do it painfully slow
there is one movie that makes her cry, but she'll never admit it (it's Lilo and Stitch, she relates to Stitch way too much)
Oreos are the first real food she ate after escaping Desolation Labs, so she loves them
slowly starts to get comfortable with being vulnerable and letting herself feel her feelings over the course of her arc
She's one of my oldest OCs, i think i first created her when I was 12. she's been through a TON of changes since then
Closest sibling relationship with Zane because of their similar experiences of not being quite human and "programmed", ESPECIALLY after the whole Never Realm episode of being taken over and hurting people and hurting people they love
