Ya’re also good at keeping me on track
Summary: Your hands are hurt and Daryl take care of them.
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Reader
A/N: Indulging myself a little since I’m sewing the crochet cardigan I’m making and my hands hurt.
You were the seamstress of the community, that had been your job for a long time. Making clothes edible to dress, fixing them and making them fit. A job that became worse when the winter was close. You always had much job this time of the year, you felt in your core the necessity to fix as much clothes as you could… to even make them if necessary, you just didn’t want your family, friends and all the children feeling cold.
Also because of that, your hands were always hurt. Your fingers were sore by pulling threads all day, the tip of your fingers hurt because of the times you accidentally sticked the needle on them. Your wrists were in pain by the repetitive movements, and your back… you didn’t even wanted to think about it.
All of that was forgotten by the end of the day, when your lover had to stop you and tell it was enough. “C’mere.” Daryl would gently say as he took the fabric and needle from your hand and put them away in a basket.
“I was just finishing this one…” You would almost pout when telling him, but definitely not fight, never fight. The way you saw this moment was like him saving you from yourself.
“Ya always say that sweetheart.” He said as he sat you on the bed. “Now let me see these beautiful hands.”
“I’m just worried people will be warm on winter.” You explained as you let him examine your hands.
“Well, I’ll look for clothes if that means ya’re not pushing yourself much.” Of course he would throw this card, always the provider, always scavenging for supplies.
“You won’t Mr. Dixon.” You replied, a serious but worried look on your face. “If I sew this much everyday is to guarantee you’re not risking yourself for it.”
“Looking for supplies is basically my job, darling.” He said as he ran his hands on yours with some cream and what scented as essential oil.
“Hunting is also your job.”
“Also risky, sunshine.” He pointed out while he finished his work on spreading the ointment.
“Anyways, sewing clothes is my job and the only thing I’m useful in the community. So… let me do it.” You answered and observed as he put some bandages around your hands so it would protect it from the sensitivity and let it absorb the ointment.
“Ya’re also good at keeping me on track.” He said as he finished his job.
“Cheesy.” You teased him.
“But ya love me.”
“I really do.”
You leaned forward and pressed a tender kiss on his lips.

In Harmless Indulgence | Meronia
Pairing ◈ Mello/Near
Word count ◈ 1,569
Info & Warnings ◈ Post-canon, Autistic Near, Mello POV, Mutual Pining
Author's notes ◈ Written for this year's @meroniaevent! The prompt I chose was "scars."
Read on Ao3
Mello treats his scars while contemplating Near's own.
The room was dim and cosy. The gel cold, as it touched his marred skin.
Near eyed him across the breakroom’s kitchenette, eating some child’s excuse for a meal like plain rice and tuna, or chicken nuggets with ketchup. He wasn’t even facing Mello, head lowered to better eat his gruel. He looked over at him through his lashes, right under his brow bone. It made him look angry when he did so. Perhaps he was, Mello was never certain.
“Don’t like me oiling up on your couch?” Mello asked, raising a brow. He felt like lounging back on the couch he sat on for the sole purpose of riling him up, pressing his naked torso lathered in product all over the soft, no doubt expensive seating. He resisted the temptation with effort; small victories of the daily inner struggle, he supposed.
Near looked down to his food, breaking eye contact in haste.
“It’s not my couch.”
He laughed in disbelief.
“Sure. It’s the office’s state sponsored couch. The office you’re in charge of. Your office.”
He kept rubbing the cool ointment onto his shoulder absentmindedly, fingers running over every ridge and valley until the dry, sore feeling dissipated.
Near looked up at him once more, the corners of his lips twisting minutely into something of a frown. It made Mello want to roll his eyes before the answer even spilled from his lips.
“To answer your question,” he said softly, “no, it does not bother me.”
“Then why’re you lookin’ at me like that?”
He dipped his fingers into the tub of gel and lathered it closer to his neck this time, over his collarbone and up his throat. He winced, but continued. Two rounds of fire to the skin were bound to make the scars more tender. Mello’s great reward for a selfless fucking deed. Wasn’t he so damn lucky?
“There’s nothing else to look at,” he said simply. Mello wasn’t sure why, but something about it felt like an awkward fib. Near wasn’t a fibber, though.
“I’m entertainment, then?” His lips quirked up in a smile, one he didn’t bother reaching his eyes.
Near stared at him unmoving for a couple of seconds. No chewing, no poking at his food. Very eerie, but also very Near.
“Sure,” he said simply before lowering his gaze once more to gather his food and thrust it into his mouth gingerly.
In silence, Mello continued his routine, regarding Near carefully as he sat so comfortably on one of the lounge’s dining chairs. When he joined their operation a couple of months back, he found Near had gotten real good ones, the more expensive types with soft pillowy seats that wouldn’t chafe or catch his sensitive skin. Mello had only ever covered his body in leather and polyester, so it didn’t touch him sideways, but as the weather warmed, Near began showing more skin. At first, he simply rolled his sleeves, but then changed to a cotton white t-shirt. Now though, deep into July, and nearing August, Near wouldn’t leave his room without a pair of cotton white pyjama shorts. They were short, too, barely covering half his pale thighs.
Mello never stopped himself from staring. It was a free show, after all.
His skin, so milky white, was pinker at the knees. The shade was bright and cool against the gentle slope of his thigh, illuminated by the harsh white lights he loved so much. They left little to the imagination, painting his flesh in all its naked truth where shade might have covered imperfections.
Mello knew where to find it, he always did. It was his doing, the one slash he’d never forget in intricate detail.
Right beneath where his shorts ended, near the inside of his thigh where his muscles clenched and relaxed in the midst of his less than edible meal, was a thin, red line.
It was Mello’s doing, all of ten years prior, an accident he henceforth always referred to as a warning, as to keep Near at arm’s length. Today, it was a souvenir of times they’d never get back, but also of a connection they’d never shake.
Round and round in circles they went, Mello pushing and pulling Near in all directions with explosive anger, as Near pushed and pulled harder in response, quiet and still as night. At the end of their dance, Mello ended up maimed beyond repair, but it did lead to a different fight that had always lingered beneath the surface.
Near was eyeing him again, just as focused on him as Mello had been on Near. He’d been enjoying their routine as of late, of the quiet company they shared after dinner as he mended his burn wounds. Near watched attentively as his fingers dipped and rose across his torso, down his chest and over his abdomen. His skin was too red, too textured and dark to resemble that of a desirable man, but he soaked up the attention greedily nonetheless. Who was he to deny himself that innocent pleasure when he did so much worse?
During these times of peace, as he watched the thin red line he’d cut years prior, he’d imagine himself between them. He wondered what it felt like, most of all. Was it bumpy like his own skin? Or was it as imperceptible to the touch as it was subtle to the eye?
Would he feel that difference if he traced it over with his tongue? And if he did so, what would he taste like? His body looked silky-soft to the touch, the whole expanse of skin and not just the scar. Were he between his legs he’d lay his hands on him and decipher this puzzle on his own. With thumbs digging into his softer inner thigh and fingers travelling over the tops and sides, he’d be able to make a keen assessment, of that he was sure.
Mello soon finished soothing the last few patches of sore skin, closing the lid of the gel container and putting a long sleeved cotton t-shirt on to protect the treatment. It had a fine texture, soft like the one in Near’s preferred wardrobe. As he got up and neared the kitchenette, he wondered what Near would look like in it. It was a faded black shade with bold, sharp lettering at the front, the complete opposite of the stark white he favoured. It could look good, enhancing the brittle pale of his skin. Perhaps it would even fall below his hips and cover the very tops of his thighs, legs in full display, taunting despite its innocence.
He opened the fridge and made a sandwich with whatever leftovers he could find and sat beside Near, avoiding his eyes all the while. They finished their meals in silence after some time, a brief respite they both needed after the usual hectic day. Arguing and bouncing ideas off each other in the office was the norm as of late as they worked cases together, at first keeping mostly to themselves as they reacclimatised to the other’s presence, and later warming up as they found a rhythm in the chaos. They were slowly turning into a well oiled machine, slowly being the key word, but the results were self-evident.
He glanced down to where Near sat, finishing his– Ah, so it was mashed potatoes and sausages, it seemed. Close enough. Lower at his lap though, he peeked at his thighs.
“If you ever, hum,” he hesitated, so unlike himself as he tried to bridge a gap that felt like water under his feet. “If you ever wanna spice up your wardrobe with a little colour, I’m your guy.”
Near hummed, scraping his plate for the last few bits of smeared mash left meekly.
“You know I like white.”
Mello cursed himself internally. And then he cursed Near twice as hard.
“Yes,” he said, mildly aggravated. “But it could be… Fun, I suppose. You don’t seem to have much of that around here, anyways.”
Near was quiet for a moment, leaving Mello’s nerves buzzing as his leg bounced anxiously.
“I would have to be cotton,” he said as he turned to face him. “And it has to be washed at high temperatures, with scentless fabric softener.”
“Yeah, of course.” Mello looked at him in confusion. “You think I didn’t think of that?”
“Yes.” His grey eyes wide and unblinking.
“Well you should know better,” he forced his voice into a harsh tone, as though it were an annoyance from how obvious it all was, how his deliberate, near-obsessive observations were nothing if not a part of normality. “Your idiosyncrasies are so bloody annoying they’re hard to even forget.”
Near looked at him intently, eyes and pupils minutely wider than usual. Observing, dissecting, analysing quietly, his most prominent MO.
“Sure,” he finally said, but not before giving Mello a poorly disguised once-over. “But no black.”
He twisted his mouth, displeased, but nodded anyways, making room for compromise.
“No black,” he echoed.
“I need to ease into it,” Near added, glancing somewhat bashfully at him behind his white tuft of hair. “It would be too jarring a transition for now… But I’m not against it.”
Mello licked his lips, taking in a greedy gulp of air and nodding, brows and frown set despite the great pleasure of getting his way.
“Yeah, alright,” he postured. “I can deal with that.”

Solvent Extraction Plant – PEMAC Projects
A Solvent Extraction Plant is a key component of the edible oil industry, utilizing specialized machinery to extract oils from seeds and other raw materials. Solvent extraction machineries are essential industrial equipment designed to efficiently extract oils and valuable compounds. The oil-rich miscella is then processed in an Oil Refinery Plant, where it undergoes degumming, neutralization, and other refining processes to produce high-quality edible oils. In contrast, Oil Expeller Plants use mechanical presses to extract oil from seeds without the use of solvents, and they are preferred for producing cold-pressed oils. Various Edible Oil Equipment and Cooking Oil Plants are integral to the industry, providing the necessary tools and machinery to efficiently process and refine oils for consumption and industrial applications.

What are the extraction methods for CBD oils?
Supercritical method, cold pressing, vegetable oil, solvent… So many terms that qualify the manufacture of CBD products. But what reality is hidden behind each of these practices? Is there a fundamental difference between CBD products extracted in this way or that way? What is the best mode of extraction? In this blog, you will explore the manufacture of CBD and its impact on the different CBD oils.
The origin of CBD
CBD (cannabidiol) is a molecule naturally present in hemp and known for its relaxing effects. A notable property of CBD is its lipophilic character. Chemically, CBD can only bind to fat or oil. Thus, it is not soluble in water. In order to transform CBD into oil, there are several Cannabis extraction methods, more or less natural, each with its own taste and specificities.
Extraction methods to create CBD oil
Let's review the four main methods of extracting CBD: supercritical extraction (1), cold pressing extraction (2), vegetable oil extraction (3), and extraction. by solvent (4).
1. Supercritical CO2 extraction
CO2 extraction aims to create phase changes (state of matter) in the CO2 and make it reach a so-called supercritical state. This process makes it possible to extract CBD while maintaining the number of terpenes in the plant material (CBN, CBG, etc.). Manufacturers favor this method for its efficiency and relative simplicity: no use of solvents or chemicals could alter the product's purity. However, CBD oil extracted with supercritical CO2 must be reprocessed to remove all traces of THC, which requires laboratory intervention.
CO2, a non-volatile element, is also already used in several industries wishing to control the concentration of a molecule, such as coffee and essential oils. At the end of the process, the CO2 is condensed and stored for reuse. Nothing is lost; everything is reused!
Thus, supercritical extraction is often used for the creation of rich and flavorful Full Spectrum CBD oils.
2. Cold Press Extraction
CBD extraction is often done cold for the same reason: to maintain a natural result while retaining the taste of the terpenes.
With the cold-press cannabis cbd oil extraction equipment, you can run the frozen hemp flowers through a press yourself and extract the CBD and terpenes as low-CBD hemp oil. It is a simple and ecological method to produce your own CBD. Disadvantage? It is not a very effective method when it comes to cannabidiol… Indeed, it takes a lot of hemp flowers to produce little CBD. This is why, apart from edible hemp oil, you will not find or find very few cold-pressed CBD oils on the market.
3. Vegetable oil extraction
Another DIY method, vegetable oil extraction, involves using hot oil to extract CBD from hemp. Instead, use olive, sesame, or coconut oil. This natural method makes it possible to produce tasty CBD oil. But the problems associated with artisanal extraction remain: you need a lot of hemp for little product; moreover, the hot oil may damage the molecules you are trying to extract.
4. Solvent extraction
The hemp is bathed in a solvent in order to extract the CBD. The solvent can be either ethanol, butane, or propane. By heating the liquid, the solvent evaporates, and only the CBD oil remains. The aforementioned solvents are flammable, even explosive; this process is reserved for knowledgeable chemists and CBD Growers.
What is the best CBD oil extraction method?
Supercritical extraction is the most effective way to produce natural, flavor-rich CBD oil. When cold, it keeps the CBD and terpenes pure, does not alter molecules, and uses no solvents, although a second treatment may be required to achieve less than 0.2% THC in the final bottle.
Very effective, it uses a minimum of hemp for a maximum of oil. Finally, ecologically, it reuses CO2 and requires very little energy for high yields. Artisanal extraction may have its charm, but supercritical extraction remains the most efficient and guarantees cost control for both the producer and the consumer.

Harpoon Brewery releases its first THC-based beverage, Rec. Weed.
Press Release
BOSTON...Harpoon Brewery – the maker of New England's first IPA – is dipping their toes into new territory with the launch of their first THC-based beverage: Rec. Weed. Made in partnership with Massachusetts' Novel Beverage Company, Rec. Weed is a hop-forward yet approachable beverage made with 5 milligrams of THC, real passionfruit puree, green tea, and hops at only 25 calories and 3 grams of sugar per can. With tropical juiciness and citrusy hop notes, Rec. Weed has a clean, crisp finish that encourages consumers to kick back at the end of a long day and unwind with a new kind of drink in their hand.
"The adult beverage space is constantly evolving. With THC now legalized in states across much of the country – especially here in the Northeast – we saw not only high demand for a THC-based beverage, but an opportunity to experiment in a way that would uniquely leverage our strengths in the beer world," said Dan Kenary, CEO and co-founder of Harpoon. "We knew we had to find the right partner to help craft Rec. Weed, and Novel Beverage Co.'s vast knowledge of the industry and strong New England roots made them the ideal team to work with on this release."
Rec. Weed is brewed similarly to a session ale but without fermentation, meaning it has no alcohol content. The process starts with a base of green tea and a bit of added sugar, followed by the cold steeping of Citra and other West Coast hop oils and passionfruit puree. After the steeping process, THC is added to the liquid base, and the beverage is carbonated like a traditional beer. This process imparts minimal THC flavor or aroma. And because the THC is absorbed into the liquid, people feel its effects quicker than with more common edibles.
"Our consumers come to us with an innate curiosity to try new THC products from brands they can trust. Rec. Weed meets them at the intersection of what they want – a buzz through a non-alcoholic and low-calorie beverage that doesn't sacrifice on taste," Donald Wyse, COO of Seagrass Dispensary in Salem, MA. "Both Harpoon's and Novel Beverage Co.'s expertise in their respective fields contributed to creating an exciting product we know our consumers will love. We're excited to roll Rec. Weed out."
The launch of Rec. Weed marks the second step into marijuana-inspired products for Harpoon's parent company, Mass. Bay Brewing Company, with the first being Long Trail's CBD Seltzer. The CBD seltzers are non-alcoholic, hemp-infused seltzers that pay homage to a classic Long Trail flavor. They are available in the following flavors: Raspberry Lime, Blueberry Melon and Blackberry. Long Trail's CBD Seltzer can be purchased at Long Trail Tap Room in Bridgewater Corners, VT and is also distributed in MA, VT, RI, CT, and NJ. Find it today using the Long Trail Beer Finder.
Rec. Weed will be available in 12 oz. slim cans with a suggested retail price of $6.99. It will be available year-round at recreational dispensaries throughout Massachusetts. Must be 21+ to purchase. Visit www.drinkrecweed.com for more information.
About the Harpoon Brewery: The Harpoon Brewery was founded in 1986 by beer lovers who wanted more and better beer options. When the Brewery was founded, Harpoon was issued Brewing Permit #001 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, since it was the first to brew commercially in Boston after a dormant period of about 25 years. Since then, it has expanded to a second brewery in Windsor, VT. Harpoon's line of craft beer features its award-winning IPA and seasonal beers, along with special limited releases. In 2014, Harpoon became an employee-owned company.
About Novel Beverage Company: Novel Beverage Co. (Novel) is the northeast United States premier manufacturer of THC infused beverages. Operating state-of-the-art production and packaging facilities in Scarborough, Maine and Salisbury, Massachusetts, Novel is locally owned and operated, with a team combining decades of experience in both cannabis and beverage production to bring safe, consistent, delicious ready-to-drink beverages dosed with just the right amount of THC. Novel's diverse line of products can be found in most adult use cannabis retail stores.
