That episode was amazing and brutal and argh!! Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra is brilliant. Love/hate relationship with Alicent, she’s a cunt but i’m here for it. Viserys the coffindodger needs to kick the can soon, he’s literally decaying. I love dragons so freaking much. Poor Laena :( Gonna miss her a lot. And Harwin, i mean, i was tearing up. I loved him.

Another extract from a much larger project

Once again here’s another extract from the project I’m working on. Enjoy and please let me know if you have any thoughts.

The air was filled with bird melodies in Fool’s Gold once, the elders would say if their words could be trusted. If they did speak the truth, perhaps those songbirds had long taken flight from the decaying corpse the military small-town was becoming, the welcome sign one day converting into its gravestone, the only marker of its former existence.

Now in festering midsummer humidity, buzzing insects swarmed, harmonising with crickets and cicadas singing morning hymns to the squealing tune of rusty windmills. Month by month, another house became a skull and a business commiserates by boarding-up entrances. Inevitable to collapse into sweetly rotting splinters, infestations of kudzu and honeysuckles growing in through the broken windows in the aftermath. Lonely, they became shelters for vermin, received by spiders living high above on intricate silvery webs, confetti of swirling dust illumined by sunlight welcoming them. That good-will gesture did nothing to satiate the empty void haunted still by the echoes of human laughter.

Tumbleweeds roamed free on the stretches of crocodile cracked roads that lead into Fool’s Gold. Bleached animal bones, burnt oak scrub, broken down trucks and corroded farm equipment left deserted along said tracks. Humid breezes thick as the scent of wildflowers flow from them, through streets near empty of people.

Erica, now eighteen, nearly nineteen, looked up to the cloudless sky, sending silent prayers to the great Sun King for raindrops to cool her flaming skin. Beads of sweat continued to fall instead. The oppressive heat reached its boiling point, turning every pavement in Fool’s Gold into everyone’s own personal frying pan. Sun-kissed strands slipped out of Erica’s headscarf, sticking on to her wet face and her drenched calico dress clung onto her saline skin. Yet she continued to sort through the debris with fellow civilians and earth-caked hands. Savaging remains of disseminated embryonic herbs from the medical auxiliary corp’s shelled out greenhouse while swathing off black biting flies as charred war posters crackled under shoes skirting over glass shards.

During the previous night, bared witnessed by a myriad of stars was another furious airborne dogfight. In the midst of clouds illuminated by explosions, were the joint forces of Hades and Hermes aerial forces against that of Aphrodite’s finest. Dark skies palpitating with magical maelstroms as hexes, curses and spells sent through the violent night. Gunshots also resonated, bullets spraying in all directions. Brilliant colourful flashes split through the battle-reeked smoke.

Townsfolk woke the next morning, left emergency shelters behind, to find missing loved ones but only to find most of the buildings picked clean of their painted flesh. Wooden skeletons and metal veins exposed, bricks and mortar reduced to ashes, hued in charcoal and dusted grey. Paddle propellers and rotator blades speared into the ground. Wreckages of Hermite ornithopters, ripped wings like dragonflies and bats, were more akin to giant bugs being crushed and grind underfoot. Morsels of fabric that made up the colossal balloons of dirigibles still remained on the tail fins. High street was reduced to a ragged pile of cracked concrete rubble, the foundations for an aircraft cemetery. There were even the burnt out remains of an Aphroditian Coffindodger B-34 on top of the town squares’ fountain, waterfalls pouring out from empty sockets.
