Tolle Idee. #werbung #codexbeauty #BiaComplex #gratis #Augencreme #probe #Hyaluronsäure https://www.instagram.com/p/B9MCCfUofwn/?igshid=1am66fpohqvup

WHAT ARE YOU GETTING THE DADS IN YOUR LIFE FOR FATHER’S DAY? HOW ABOUT THE DOPEST GIFT EVER! _______________________________________________________ Father’s Day is this Sunday and it’s a distinct honor for me to collab this year with my favorite streetwear brand, BRKLN BLOKE — founded by fellow Brookliner, Wayne Fortune. I know you’ve seen me in those BRKLN BLOKE caps! I never leave the house without my BRKLN BLOKE snapback. So when Wayne presented an opportunity to get some really dope skincare into the hands of guys across Brooklyn, I didn’t hesitate. Most guys I know barely use skincare, let alone the best skincare available. So I reached out to a few of my favorite brands to partner with me in the collab. I’m so honored that Codex Beauty, Solara Suncare, The Glow Maker and Wolf Project agreed. Thank you! I wanted to share about the products I selected for the box. Each is unisex and made with clean, natural ingredients. No toxins, no fragrance, no synthetic preservatives. No b.s.! Just really good stuff for skin. Read more about @brklnbloke and my fave skincare at skincarma.com. _______________________________________________________ 💟CODEX BEAUTY | @codexbeauty The Discovery Kit includes the Exfoliating Wash, my favorite face scrub. It’s super thick and all-natural with soothing castor oil, moisturizing shea butter and jojoba grains for gentle exfoliation. . 💟SOLARA SUNCARE | @solarasuncare The Alpine Reboot Serum is a super anti-aging serum with powerful antioxidants, anti-aging peptides and unique actives that strengthen skin’s defenses against sun damage. . 💟THE GLOW MAKER | @theglowmaker The Vitamin C Moisturizer is one of the best antioxidant moisturizers to help defend skin against aging and skin damage from pollution, stress, smoke and the sun. It’s perfect for New Yorkers and Brooklynites! . 💟WOLF PROJECT | @wolfproject.co The Hydrating Face Mask is the perfect 15-minute selfcare sesh. With Bamboo Charcoal it grips the face like magic and infuses skin with brightening Niacinamide and potent antioxidants. _______________________________________________________ . . . . . . . . . . #skincarma #menwhomask #brklnbloke #codexbeauty #solarasuncare (at Fort Greene) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBnOIuvH65Z/?igshid=9hx2gb70ffgb

HAVE YOU EVER GOTTEN DAD SKINCARE FOR FATHER’S DAY? WOULD THAT BE TOTALLY WEIRD? _______________________________________________________ Father’s Day is Sunday and it’s a distinct honor for me to collab this year with my favorite streetwear brand, BRKLN BLOKE — founded by fellow Brookliner, Wayne Fortune. I know you’ve seen me in those BRKLN BLOKE caps! Wayne and I met at a street festival last summer – and I haven’t left the house without my BRKLN BLOKE snapback since. So when Wayne asked me what I thought about an opportunity to get some really dope skincare into the hands of guys across Brooklyn, I didn’t hesitate. Most guys I know barely use skincare, let alone the best skincare available. So I reached out to a few of my favorite brands to see if they’d be interested in partnering with me on the initiative. I’m so honored that Codex Beauty, Solara Suncare and The Glow Recipe agreed. Seriously thank you! I wanted to share about the products I selected for the box. You know I don’t believe in “men’s skincare.” Skin is skin and each of the products is made for both women & men — with clean, natural ingredients. No toxins, no fragrance, no synthetic preservatives. No b.s.! Just really good stuff for skin. . 💟CODEX BEAUTY | @codexbeauty The Discovery Kit includes the Exfoliating Wash, my favorite face scrub. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MEN’S SKIN CARE? DO GUYS NEED THEIR OWN PRODUCTS OR SHOULD SKINCARE BE UNISEX? _______________________________________________________ With new, clean skincare products seemingly popping up every week, skin care brands are finally cleaning up their act! It’s an exciting trend in beauty. And, I think it’s something that men are just now becoming aware of, too. Skincare innovation most often occurs in the broader market, and is mainly targeted at women. When I was with Kiehl’s, we knew that men were 28% of our customer base. No other unisex brand came close. But why should men be left behind in one of the greatest shifts driving the beauty industry today? In fact, to my knowledge, there are no men’s brands that are claiming to adhere to clean beauty standards in any real way. The current standards for clean skin care have been established by retailers that cater to women — like Sephora, Credo and Follain. Of course, there are numerous clean brands that cater to both sexes, though they don’t generally focus marketing money on male consumers. On the lower end are brands like First Aid Beauty and Skinfix. The more sophisticated clean brands include Herbivore Botanicals and Codex Beauty. All of these brands appear more or less unisex; that is, they would seem to appeal to both women and men. I’m not a real believer in men’s skin care anyway. Skin is skin! What matters is that the skin — whether it’s covering a male or female body — be given all it needs to function properly, fight off aggressors — and maintain a healthy, youthful appearance as long as possible. With that, let’s have a look at Codex Beauty with fresh eyes! Read more about one of my fave clean unisex brands on this week’s new Skincarma Blog — “BRANDS I LOVE : CODEX BEAUTY - SOME OF THE BEST CLEAN, NATURAL SKINCARE FOR BOTH WOMEN AND MEN” at skincarma.com. _______________________________________________________ 💟@codexbeauty | Bia Skin Superfood | Bia Day Cream | Bia Eye Gel Cream . . . . . . . . . . #Skincarma #menwhomask #indiebeauty #cleanbeauty #naturalskincare #organicbeauty #cleanskincare #codexbeauty (at Fort Greene) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBQEtnqn4XL/?igshid=1o3r0p6n4ewhr

ANY HERBIVORE FAVORITES OR SOMETHING YOU’VE GOT YOUR EYE ON? SHARE BELOW… _______________________________________________________ One of the most effective means for preventing dryness is a good, occlusive sleeping mask. The artificial air emitted by heaters and air conditioners effectively dries out the air around us while we sleep. Left unprotected, by morning your skin can be sapped of a significant amount of moisture. I’m a big fan of Herbivore’s clean, luxury beauty — in particular, the brand’s Phoenix Facial Oil. Phoenix is one of my go-to’s for surviving even the coldest of days. But as temps begin to climb, it’s time to dial things back a bit. And the Herbivore Moon Fruit Superfruit Night Treatment is the perfect option. It’s not too heavy, not too light. Moon Fruit is a blend of replenishing plant oils that deeply moisturize skin. I love that the 1st ingredient is Organic Aloe Leaf Juice — a common skin-soothing botanical with humectant properties. Bravo, Herbivore, for replacing water in the formula with something that has a skin benefit. Next is a slew of nourishing antioxidant oils and butters including Red Raspberry Seed Oil, Shea Butter, and Prickly Pear Oil — one of the most beneficial non-fragrant plant oils used in skin care. While it’s loaded with pro-skin health actives, Moon Fruit isn’t a perfect formula. I don’t love that it’s in a jar — and really don’t love the inclusion of Lavender Flower Essential Oil and Sweet Orange Peel Essential Oil. Neither is beneficial for the skin and both are potential skin irritants. No matter, it’s a wonderfully effective, deeply moisturizing treatment that’s a real pleasure to use. Slather this on and wake up plump and glowing! Read more about it on this week’s new Skincarma Blog (Psst...there’s a super cool new giveaway there too!) _______________________________________________________ 💟@herbivorebotanicals | Moon Fruit Superfruit Night Treatment _______________________________________________________ . . . . . . . . . . #Skincarma #menwhomask #firstaidbeauty #codexbeauty #comfortzoneskincare #herbivorebotanicals #glowrecipe #dryskin (at Fort Greene, Brooklyn) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9_l1I7nQ5i/?igshid=6lmusfpck86w

WHAT DO YOU USE TO TREAT CHRONIC DRY SKIN, ECZEMA, OR SEASONAL DRYNESS? SHARE BELOW… _______________________________________________________ As I’ve gotten older, I’ve grown to appreciate richer skin care formulated to address dryness, and in my case, seasonal dryness. I don’t typically have dry skin. I consider my skin to be “normal.” In fact, I don’t really believe in skin types, per se; rather, I believe all skins start out normal and both internal and external factors lead skin to behave differently. You can always restore your skin to a state of normalcy! The key is to pay close attention to how your skin reacts to what you apply. It will tell you everything you need to know. If your skin seems dry when you wake up in the morning, consider the factors that are causing that. Those can include artificial heat or air conditioning that dries out the air around you. Or, your PM skincare routine isn’t adding enough oils to your skin before bed. It might be time to #switchupyourroutine! Essential to striking the right balance is a proper daily skincare routine tailored to your skin’s needs at any given time. All skin types go through seasonal changes. Over the last few weeks, I’ve discovered several really terrific products for combatting seasonal dryness or skin that’s acting dry any time of year. My “dry skin saviors” run the gamut — from a rich, nourishing cleansing oil to a delightful sleeping mask that makes me smile in the dark of night. Read about each of them on this week’s new Skincarma Blog — “Dry Skin Saviors that Keep Skin Perky and Glowy” at skincarma.com! HOW OFTEN DO YOU USE A FACIAL OIL? PM ONLY OR DAYTIME TOO? COMMENT BELOW! _______________________________________________________ While the Herbivore Phoenix facial oil I reviewed yesterday is a blend of 6 replenishing plant oils, Good Molecules’ Pure Cold-Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil is what’s called a “single-note” oil; that is, it contains just one ingredient — Rosehip Seed Oil. Rosehip Seed Oil is a non-fragrant, emollient plant oil with antioxidant properties and is a rich source of pro-skin health fatty acids; but this is no ordinary oil. Rosehip Seed Oil contains anti-inflammatory fatty acids and both vitamins A and C. It can also help even skin tone and deliver general anti-aging benefits. If you’re unfamiliar with Good Molecules, it’s one of a few new “democratic” skincare brands like The Ordinary and The Inkey List that offer simple, yet effective products at a very low price — making well-formulated skincare products accessible to a everyone. The Pure Cold-Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil is comprised of 100% Chilean Rosa Rubiginosa Seed Oil. Unlike both rose oil and rose extract, which are drawn from the rose petals themselves, Rosehip Oil is pressed from the fruit and seeds of the rose plant. Because it’s a non-fragrant plant oil, is smells like virtually nothing. That may be surprising since it’s extracted from roses. What a terrific oil for just $10! DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE FACIAL OIL? DROP IT IN THE COMMENTS BELOW! _______________________________________________________ Kiehl’s hemp-derived Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Herbal Concentrate really stands out to me. To clarify, the ingredient Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil is not the same thing as Cannabidiol, or CBD. Both are different components of the hemp plant. Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil is a non-fragrant plant oil also known as Hemp Seed Oil and is a terrific nourishing emollient oil that’s rich in replenishing fatty acids, amino acids and antioxidants. Unlike the facial oils from BYBI and Good Molecules, Kiehl’s Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Herbal Concentrate is no one-hit wonder. There are several beneficial actives in the formula. To start, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil is itself the no.1 ingredient of just 12, which I presume puts it at about 65-75% of the formula. At ingredient no.3 is Vitamin E, a multi-beneficial active that’s both a reliable moisturizer and a potent antioxidant. Regrettably, there are a few drawbacks here with the inclusion of two no-no’s: Geranium Oil and Peppermint Oil — one of the worst skin irritants. As they say, you can’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. This is no perfect oil — but it’s a damn good one. There’s just something that’s so pleasing about Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Herbal Concentrate. It resides somewhere between a greasy oil and a dry oil…and I love the mildly herbaceous scent. WHAT ARE YOUR SELF-CARE PLANS ON THIS LAST WEEKEND BEFORE CHRISTMAS? PLS COMMENT BELOW! _______________________________________________________ I first discovered Argan Oil during my copywriting work at Kiehl’s 10 years ago. Like Sea Buckthorn Oil, Argan Oil is classified in Paula Begoun’s ingredient glossary as among the *best* actives for skin. During our exploration of the oil for a Kiehl’s Argan collection, I recall it was sourced from a Moroccan collective of Berber women. So it was particularly poignant to me when Mimouna Botanicals reached out to me for a collaboration. Mimouna is based in Morocco and sources its 100% organic, cold-pressed Argan Oil from the same region. In fact, Mimouna owes its name to a strong Berber woman and leader — the founder’s grandmother, Lala Mimouna, born a century ago. I love what they share about her: “Growing up a Berber woman was not easy – her options were limited, her destiny was for kitchen-dwelling and child-bearing. BUT Lala Mimouna had an indomitable spirit. She decided from an early age that she would live by her own rules. Three marriages later, she became the village leader for a mountain town…Nobody could have predicted the ascendance of this extraordinary woman. But no one – certainly no man – could deny her strength.” Indeed, Lala Mimouna’s namesake oil is a formidable one with multiple benefits for the skin. Read all about my favorite facial oils for combatting winter skin on this week’s new Skincarma Blog at skincarma.com. ✅@mimouna_botanicals | Superfood Recovery Oil _______________________________________________________ Check the Skincarma blog for smart product reviews and ingredient knowledge.
