I took this pic when I first got my @maeloveskincare Glow Maker Antioxidant Serum a few weeks ago. It’s nearly clear, which I’ve never seen in any Vit C serum I’ve ever tried. As of today, the color hasn’t changed. Wow, right? ________ So far, I’m really impressed by this serum! It contains L- ascorbic acid (Vit C), Vit E and ferulic acid. It also contains Hyaluronic Acid, aloe vera and grape seed extract. It’s a thin, watery serum that doesn’t leave me sticky, has no obvious scent, works well with other products and hasn’t caused breakouts or irritation for me. ________ Just to give you an idea of other Vit C serums I like, my other faves are DE C-Firma and Skinceuticals Phloretin CF. The C-Firma contains oils so I can only use it in the winter as it makes me greasy during the summer. The product is inconsistent (IRT oxidation and coloring), so it got too frustrating for me. The Skinceuticals is great, but it contains alcohol and is also $166 😬, so I’ve been on the search for an all year round antioxidant serum that is good to my skin and is also affordable. The Glow Maker is around $30 and they frequently sell out because they’re made in small batches. I actually had to wait around 3 wks to receive mine as I did a pre-order, but it was worth the wait ________ I’m very happy with the results I’ve seen so far. I’m dealing with a lot of PIH from some acne spots, and the Glow Maker is one of the products in my routine that’s really helping to fade them. Also FYI, Mae Love’s products are free of parabens, SLS, dyes and fragrances and are vegan and cruelty free. ________ I’m really excited to try more from this affordable, data driven and obsessively researched brand. Let me know if you’ve tried this and/or any other recs I should try from Mae Love! ________ #maelove#littlebitofglowreview#beautyreview#skincarereview#beautygram#skincareobsessed#skincareaddict#antioxidantserum#vitamincserum#theglowmaker https://www.instagram.com/p/BteJuatlyPV/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1mvjbyrow1rxo

💕Happy Sunday beauties!! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!! I have been wanting to post this for a few weeks, but with being so sick, I didn’t have the energy to give it the attention it deserves. So, first let me introduce you to the brand @maeloveskincare . Launched in 2017 by sisters who were tired of other skincare brands not living up to their hype, the line was “born at MIT and developed in Silicone Valley”. They wanted to show us that having great skin- and a great skincare line- doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Skincare can be simple and effective. And this made in the USA line is definitely effective! These women have done the research to better learn what works and what we want. Case in point- the line is cruelty free, vegan and free of parabens, sls, dyes and fragrance. The products @maeloveskincare sent all deserve their own time to shine, so I will be bringing reviews on each on very soon. Look forward to learning more about these: ❤︎𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝑴𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒓 ❤︎𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑯𝒚𝒅𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓 ❤︎𝑵𝑰𝑨10 ❤︎𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒖𝒏 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓 ❦ ❦ 💕Have you hear of @maeloveskincare yet? Definitely check them out ASAP! I always love supporting #womenownedbusinesses !! Thank you so very much @maeloveskincare for sending these my way to try. DISCOVER THESE 4 DOPE ANTI-AGING + ANTIOXIDANT SERUMS ON TODAY’S NEW SKINCARMA BLOG! (PSST…PLUS THERE’S A CHANCE TO WIN THEM!) 📸@antoniojeffersonstudio _______________________________________________ I’ve reviewed many of The Glow Maker’s products and love the brand’s facial serums. If you’re unfamiliar with the brand, The Glow Maker offers a range of remarkably well-formulated clinical skin care. Many of the products are the kind of active-powered serums that I prefer in my routines. Serums are characteristically more highly concentrated and because they’re lightweight, tend to penetrate the skin more readily and, thus, deliver greater efficacy. And I’m excited to feature a selection of some of the best anti-aging serums on today’s new Skincarma Blog at skincarma.com. Link in bio! . The Glow Maker’s Niacinamide Booster Serum is a powerhouse, pro-skin health blend of antioxidant botanicals, humectants, amino acids, minerals and vitamins — including Vitamins C, E, B5 and of course, Niacinamide, or Vitamin B3. It’s one of my favorite Niacinamide serums, . The Glow Maker’s $25 20% Vitamin C Facial Serum is such a well-formulated and affordable Vitamin C treatment that it’s at the top of my list — right up there with The Ordinary’s Ethylated Ascorbic Acid 15% Solution and the Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10% — one of the best anti-aging serums of all time. . I’m a big fan of Bakuchiol — and not a big fan of Retinol! The Glow Maker’s 1% Bakuchiol Facial Night Oil is a 96% organic formula and a true anti-aging and antioxidant powerhouse with Coenzyme Q10, Ginger Root Extract, Curcumin (Turmeric Root) and Astaxanthin — one of the most potent antioxidants used in skincare. _______________________________________________ SHOP THE BLOG: For a limited time, save 20% off The Glow Maker at theglowmaker.com | Enter code SKINCARMA20 at checkout. _______________________________________________ 💟@theglowmaker . . . . . . . . . . . #skincarma #maleblogger #skinfluencer #theglowmaker #niacinamide #retinol #bakuchiol #antioxidant #vitaminc #antiaging #skincarefanatic #skincarecommunity @skincarma @skincarmanyc (at Downtown Brooklyn) https://www.instagram.com/p/CR0_lQYL7Lt/?utm_medium=tumblr

DO YOU USE AN ANTI-AGING PRODUCT? IF SO, DROP IT BELOW! _______________________________________________________ Much of what we know and think we know about skincare has been told to us by big beauty marketers. Take the idea of anti-aging, for instance. Whenever people ask me for “the best anti-aging cream,” they’re always taken aback by my answer. “That’s easy! The best anti-aging cream is sunscreen. And my favorite anti-aging product is the @solarasuncare Time Traveler sunscreen!” I assume they want me to respond with something like Crème de la Mer because it’s $180. It’s an anti-aging cream, right? It’s an anti-aging cream because La Mer says it is! So, aside from sunscreen, what does anti-aging mean? It means taking care of your skin in order to promote the healthiest functions possible. When your skin is healthy it fights aging on its own. Wearing a daily sunscreen prevents wrinkles. Maintaining moisture and hydration levels prevents wrinkles. Antioxidants help skin defend against environmental damage which prevents wrinkles. How do I know all of this? That all of this is the real truth behind anti-aging — and not what La Mer says is anti-aging? Because I’ve lived it; because today I turned 55 years old. And I don’t look anything near that, do I? I thought in celebration, I’d share a few of my favorite pro-skin health products from the Skincarma Vault. Read more about some of my faves on today’s new Skincarma Blog! WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO SUMMER MOISTURIZER? _______________________________________________________ Last week I kicked off my 2nd annual summer moisturizer series with a blog article titled, Summer Moisturizers Part I – Some of the Best Lightweight Face Creams for Oily Skin and All Skin Types on Hot Weather. If you missed it, catch it through the link in my bio! In Part 1, I highlighted the first 5 clean, lightweight moisturizers ideal for the summer heat. Among them was perhaps the most well-formulated moisturizer I’ve ever come across in my long career in beauty — the 90% organic, 100% natural Clear 1% Centella Cream Serum from Organic the New Beauty. This week, I’m excited to bring you 5 more picks — to complete my top 10 summer moisturizers for 2020. All clean, all powered by natural ingredients — and none of the brands even existed last summer. I really love that! With this 2nd collection, 2 are more appropriate for normal, combo and dry skin — the Schăf Face Moisturizer and The Glow Maker’s Vitamin C Facial Moisturizer. There’s a new moisturizer from a brand that aims to guide men through their skincare journey via text messaging, Bruvy’s The Face Moisturizer. (How cool is that?!) Rounding out my 10 summer moisturizer picks are the Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream from BeautyStat, the brand behind what I consider one of the best Vitamin C serums of all time — and the Inner Light Moisturizer from indie brand, Strange Bird Beauty. It’s a brand with a soul and I’m honored to introduce it to you. HAVE YOU EVER GOTTEN DAD SKINCARE FOR FATHER’S DAY? WOULD THAT BE TOTALLY WEIRD? _______________________________________________________ Father’s Day is Sunday and it’s a distinct honor for me to collab this year with my favorite streetwear brand, BRKLN BLOKE — founded by fellow Brookliner, Wayne Fortune. I know you’ve seen me in those BRKLN BLOKE caps! Wayne and I met at a street festival last summer – and I haven’t left the house without my BRKLN BLOKE snapback since. So when Wayne asked me what I thought about an opportunity to get some really dope skincare into the hands of guys across Brooklyn, I didn’t hesitate. Most guys I know barely use skincare, let alone the best skincare available. So I reached out to a few of my favorite brands to see if they’d be interested in partnering with me on the initiative. I’m so honored that Codex Beauty, Solara Suncare and The Glow Recipe agreed. Seriously thank you! I wanted to share about the products I selected for the box. You know I don’t believe in “men’s skincare.” Skin is skin and each of the products is made for both women & men — with clean, natural ingredients. No toxins, no fragrance, no synthetic preservatives. No b.s.! Just really good stuff for skin. . 💟CODEX BEAUTY | @codexbeauty The Discovery Kit includes the Exfoliating Wash, my favorite face scrub. It’s super thick and all-natural with soothing castor oil, moisturizing shea butter and jojoba grains for gentle exfoliation. . 💟SOLARA SUNCARE | @solarasuncare The Alpine Reboot Serum is a super anti-aging serum with powerful antioxidants, anti-aging peptides and unique actives that strengthen skin’s defenses against sun damage. . 💟THE GLOW MAKER | @theglowmaker The Vitamin C Moisturizer is one of the best antioxidant moisturizers to help defend skin against aging and skin damage from pollution, stress, smoke and the sun. It’s perfect for New Yorkers and Brooklynites! . Read more about @brklnbloke and my fave skincare on the blog at skincarma.com. _______________________________________________________ . . . . . . . . . . #skincarma #menwhomask #brklnbloke #codexbeauty #solarasuncare #theglowmaker #fathersday #mensskincare #skincareformen (at Fort Greene) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBc9RbGHD6k/?igshid=rxjlhqbhlylq

WHAT 3 PRODUCTS DO YOU THINK YOU COULDN’T LIVE WITHOUT IF YOU COULD ONLY HAVE THOSE 3? _______________________________________________________ I was taking a shower the other morning whilst coconut cupcakes were baking in the oven and I was thinking (lightheartedly) about what I term the Coronapocalypse going on outside. I wondered what I would actually do if I had to evacuate the City with Orpheus and head to my mother’s house in Connecticut, 3 hrs. away. Naturally, I thought, “What skincare would I take?” Of course, in reality, I would take an entire dopp kit of skin care — but what if I could only take just 3 products with me? What if it were a “Skinpocalypse” and I had to narrow my options for keeping my skin as healthy as possible. (This was a particularly creative shower!) I’m a big fan of The Walking Dead and I have to admit, it makes me crazy that they probably don’t wash their faces very much. I think about that watching Survivor too! Do they even have facial cleanser stranded on that island? Back in 2012 during Hurricane Sandy in NYC, Orpheus and I survived without running water or electricity for 5 days before evacuating to temporary housing on Times Square. So, I know what it’s like not to have running water to wash with! Speaking of, it was a long shower that morning as I pondered, calculated, and finally determined what 3 products I’d want with me in my imaginary Skinpocalypse. Read about each of these versatile, indispensable products — the THREE SKINCARE PRODUCTS I WANT WITH ME IN THE SKINPOCALYPSE! — on this week’s new Skincarma Blog at skincarma.com. WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO STAY SANE DURING THE QUARANTINE? I WROTE A NEW BLOG ARTICLE ON MY FAVE TOPIC: VITAMIN C! _______________________________________________________ Week 3 of our Coronavirus lockdown in NYC and it feels like week 103. I’ve spent the time productively and unproductively — refining my recipe for lemon cookies and bingeing on bad TV. Not only have I been staring at the walls, I’ve been staring at the yoga mat — yes, the new yoga mat I bought to get some more exercise going. So far, no success. It’s not like I’m in any hurry. So what better way to spend the time than to write a blog article about one of my favorite skincare topics: Vitamin C serums! I’ve had my eye out for what’s new, what’s next and what’s extraordinary in the world of Vitamin C. One of the most notable observations has been the dearth of dedicated Vitamin C products from the world of K-beauty. I’m excited to have the opportunity to share that I’ve finally discovered one — and I couldn’t imagine a better brand to bring it to market than my clean Korean skincare fave, Purito. Among my 5 new picks, there are 2 Vitamin C serums from brands that are relatively new to me, Skin Deva and Allies of Skin. One product has literally blown me away — and is the benchmark for what a great Vitamin C serum should look like IMO. It’s the Ghost Democracy Lightbulb Vitamin C Serum. Lastly, comes a new Vitamin C moisturizer from The Glow Maker. Head over to the blog for a chance to win it! Read about each of them on this week’s new Skincarma Blog — “New Vitamin C Facial Serums I Love but You’ve Probably Never Heard Of!” at skincarma.com! _______________________________________________________ 💟@alliesofskin | 35% Vitamin C Collagen Rebuilding Serum 💟@purito_official | Pure Vitamin C Serum 💟@skindevaproducts | 20% Vitamin C+ E + Ferulic Acid Serum 💟@ghostdemocracy | Lightbulb Vitamin C Serum 💟@theglowmaker | Vitamin C Facial Moisturizer _______________________________________________________ . . . . . . . . . . #Skincarma #menwhomask #maleblogger #vitaminc #vitamincserums #alliesofskin #purito #skindevaproducts #theglowmaker #ghostdemocracy (at Fort Greene, Brooklyn) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-ZPMW1nSUq/?igshid=19wzibs75k0qn

BAKUCHIOL OR RETINOL? DROP YOUR FAVORITES BELOW… _______________________________________________________ Since I first started exploring all the Bakuchiol skin care last fall, I’ve come across numerous Bakuchiol serums and cream-based moisturizers. Interestingly, there haven’t been a whole lot of facial oils made with the natural Retinol alternative. I think it’s because facial oils aren’t nearly as popular as serums and conventional moisturizers. They’re more niche — and commonly misunderstood as being only for dry skin. And while dry skin benefits the most from a facial oil, not all formulas are the same. They run the gamut — from a dry oil like The Ordinary’s 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane to a rich, wet oil like the Herbivore Phoenix. And then there’s everything in between! That’s where you’ll find The Glow Maker’s 1% Bakuchiol Facial Night Oil. It’s closer to a dry oil on the facial oil spectrum. Many of the The Glow Maker’s products are the kind of active-powered serums that I prefer in my routines. But the brand’s also got several really well-formulated facial oils that are a real pleasure to use. The 1% Bakuchiol Facial Night Oil is super lightweight and formulated with, of course, a 1% concentration of Bakuchiol, the industry standard. The formula is loaded with skin-replenishing, nourishing and revitalizing non-fragrant plants oils. Among the most notable are Rosehip Seed Oil, Blackberry Seed Oil and Borage Seed Oil — all of which are organic and cold-pressed. In addition, The Glow Maker’s 1% Bakuchiol Facial Night Oil also contains effective levels of powerful antioxidants including Astaxanthin, CoQ10 and organic Ginger Root Extract and Curcumin — the principal curcuminoid of anti-inflammatory, antioxidant turmeric. Read more about “Dry Skin and Three Facial Oils I Think You’d Love, Too!” on this week’s new Skincarma Blog at skincarma.com! _______________________________________________________ 💟@theglowmaker | The Glow Maker 1% Bakuchiol Facial Night Oil _______________________________________________________ . . . . . . . . . . #Skincarma #carminenyc #menwhomask #theglowmaker #facialoils #cleanbeauty #bakuchiol #retinol (at Fort Greene, Brooklyn) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9q5ESrHLde/?igshid=wnbt51e0ts33

DO YOU USE A FACIAL OIL ALL YEAR ROUND OR ONLY IN THE COLDER MONTHS? WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITES? SHARE BELOW… _______________________________________________________ Here I am, the end of what was a particularly mild winter. And while we seem to have survived the cold, New York City is on edge with the coronavirus beginning to affect us directly. But, hey, I’m more than prepared — with my bougie @touchland hand sanitizer, a 3-month supply of migraine meds, and my high-fashion black N95 mask. (swipe all the way left!) For the record, I had mine days before Gwyneth Paltrow posted herself in the same damn mask en route to Paris. Paris? I’m staying right here at home in Brooklyn with Orpheus, practicing social distancing, working on my blog — and playing with all kinds of cool skincare products. Even though winter in the City this year wasn’t as excruciating as it usually is, I still needed to switch up my skin care to keep my face from drying out in the moderate cold. And one of the very few things I love about cold of any kind is a good facial oil! As winter has waned, I’ve been on the hunt for lighter formulas. Simply, my skin won’t need a heavy, occlusive layer to prevent dryness and dehydration. I’m excited to share three facial oils I’ve come across that I love — and think you’ll enjoy, too! Read about each of them on this week’s new Skincarma Blog — “Dry Skin and Three Facial Oils I Think You’d Love, Too!” Catch it through the link in my bio or just go to skincarma.com! ARE YOU USING BAKUCHIOL YET? IF SO, WHICH PRODUCT? COMMENT BELOW… _______________________________________________________ Okay, you know what a big fan of Bakuchiol I am! As I’ve said 87x before, Bakuchiol is a proven alternative to Retinol. And, if you’re not a Retinol lover, but want the anti-aging benefits, then Bakuchiol is your knight in shining armor. If you love your Retinol, consider a Bakuchiol serum on your off-nights. (Hmm…smart!) The Glow Maker’s 1% Bakuchiol Facial Night Oil is one of the best of the numerous options I’ve come across. The 96% organic 1% Bakuchiol Facial Night Oil is an antioxidant powerhouse with Astaxanthin, Coenzyme Q10, Ginger Root Extract and Curcumin (Turmeric Root). In addition to the antioxidant extracts, there are numerous non-fragrant plant oils that deeply nourish, moisturize, replenish and soothe the skin. Among them, the anti-aging stars Rosehip Seed Oil, Prickly Pear Seed Oil & Grape Seed Oil. All of those oils give it a super nourishing, rich and silky texture that makes the perfect final facial treatment to round off a PM regimen. Instead of waking up looking dry and dehydrated, my complexion appears healthy, vibrant and not the least bit beaten down by the winter cold. Were I to perform a fresh review of the Bakuchiol options on the market currently, I would consider The Glow Maker’s 1% Bakuchiol Facial Night Oil one of the best available. And at just $30, it’s not just the real deal, but a good deal. Get to know The Glow Maker on this week’s new Skincarma blog at skincarma.com! **Save 15% off all Glow Maker products on the brand’s website.
