Driftwood Diner opened in 1953 and has flourished since as a family restaurant. While they may not be the top choice in town for seafood, they have a serviceable offering, including their infamous (or perhaps notorious) “codburger”. It’s what it sounds like. While tasty, it’s a bit of a gamble. Sometimes the cod is not cod, and sometimes the not-cod gives you scales for a week.

Due to how the diner is situated – perched right by the crashing waves – it is constantly flooding. More often than not the outside seating isn’t available, and the restaurant usually needs to close for repairs after a good storm.

There’s a lot of wood in the restaurant that probably needs some replacing, but it does add to the beachy ambiance of the place. A few stakichar have made homes under the most rotten floorboards.

The menu has every classic diner item you can imagine, though their burgers and milkshakes are the highlights. Just don’t expect a frappe. It’s a milkshake.

Don’t lean too far over your clam chowder! Some of the staff claims someone “fell in” once but it’s unclear what exactly that means. You can’t fall in chowder, right?

A sea gull the size of a dog, named “Doobie,” often visits the patio to steal peoples’ food. There are signs advising customers to simply let the bird get away with it. Fighting with Doobie is always a losing battle.

Every once in a while, employees and patrons who come in during the early morning are greeted with the entire diner being covered in seaweed. Inside. Management is used to cleaning it up by now, but no one really knows how it happens.

If you put your ear to one of the restaurant’s empty cups, you’ll hear the… well, it’s not really the ocean, actually. It’s more like the sounds of a giant creature swimming through its depths. Club Cryptid loves this and comes here just for the cups sometimes.

When I get seafood cravings, I'll go there! To enjoy the music and have a good munch. A codburger sounds horrible. I mean, that's on whoever named cods cods. Imagine being a cod and finding out that people named you a cod. The word cod has lost all meaning to me now.

Open twenty-four hours, seven days a week. They use the same menu all day, so you can have a burger for breakfast and french toast for dinner if you want.

There’s a small patio area that accommodates a few tables, and it has a nice view of the beach. Some patrons have said they’ve heard whispering from beneath the deck.

That's a reference to a song, right? A fuckin jam, if I recall correctly? Does this mean they play good music? I don't mind seafood when I wanna eat seafood, but I do mind it on my burger. Burger =/= fish. That's math.
