As the token southerner, Roach started saying a bunch of stereotypical southern phrases ironically to make everyone suffer but it of course gradually became less and less ironic.

It started with him getting shit for saying he was fixin’ to do something so he retaliated by graduating his contractions from y’all to y’all’d’ve. He no longer thinks, but reckons. It’s never over there, it’s over yonder.

It only gets worse when he starts signing them as well, mostly using half made up and improvised signs in a bastardization of ASL and BSL

Soap and Gaz maintain that Roach, dumbfounded, signing “What in tarnation?” is the funniest shit they’d ever seen

What keeps me awake at night is that after the events of MW3, Scarlet never got married. She was adamant to stay single for the rest of her life, so she can be loyal to their love for her Johnny. She believes that if they'll never be able to get married physically, then they would be spiritually.

Even after his untimely death, Scarlet accepts Soap as her husband, soulfully.

Ways Ghost describes himself in the comics

He describes his pre-Ghost/Robas life as being built upon "Discipline, precision, control". I definitely still see remnants of that in Ghost, even if his PTSD has made it less of a guarantee.

After his family's murder/faking his death, he describes himself as "a dead man (with a mission)".

Before settling on "Ghost", he workshopped called himself "Death" (and Robas referred to him as Mr. Death).

He also (post-family massacre) calls himself "a high-functioning wreck". I think this is very telling.

But he starts moving onto Ghost pretty soon.

A small edit I did of Arjun's past.. Mitski's "Washing Machine Heart" reminds me a lot of how the Captain feels often about the tragedy he faced when he was in the starting days of the army 😭

ROACH HEADCANNONS: speaking

(hi, I don't usually write stuff and ideas like this so I'm not completely sure if it makes sense lol. I'm not the greatest at explaining my thoughts, that's why I draw lmfao)

The reason why he doesn't speak during missions is because of how he was raised by his parents. They weren't the nicest, that's for sure. They always yelled at him as a child whenever he said his opinion on something, especially if it had to do with their generational gap. And it didn't help that Roach didn't speak as quickly as every other child (saying his first word at about 2 and a half years old).

Roach, as a child and a teen, would always be put down if he said his opinion, how he thought something would work, how he was feeling mentally/physically, or if he planned something, his parents would tell him it's stupid and if it didn't work they'd blame him and tell him that no one would ever listen to him.

So when he joined the military, and then the task force, he was scared of telling his captains what he thought of the mission, the plan, or just how he felt in general. He hated being yelled at by people he trusted, like Captain McTavish, so he would dodge the fights that could happen by not speaking.

It always worried Soap why his Sergeant wouldn't speak, so when he asked Roach why he wouldn't talk, Roach freaked out and blamed the stress of the mission, the adrenaline, and how he was just trying to stay focused.

He never truly got to tell his captain, or anyone, why he wouldn't speak on mission.

So he took that secret to his grave
