Sunday reset: a how to 🧖🏽‍♀️
Tumblr media
I just wanna say that whoever coined the idea of a Sunday reset is a genius! It’s the perfect way to end/start a week on the right foot, and it’s extremely beneficial! here’s a checklist that I like to use:
Tumblr media
Skin
steam your face: I just let my steamer run until there’s no more water left but you can steam for as long as you like
face mask/extractions: I use some kind of pore cleansing mask and if needed I’ll use a pore strip to get rid of pesky blackheads
derma planeing: use a small face razor to get rid of peach fuzz, this helps with acne and makes makeup sit smoother!
moisture: after all this do your skincare routine as you normally would and moisturize really well
lips: buy or make a diy lip scrub (coconut oil&sugar works for me) and apply some vaseline or aquaphor to your lips afterwards
Body
exfoliating: I don’t own a dry brush so I use exfoliating scrubs and my sapo to keep my skin baby soft
body hair: (shave only if you want to) I like to use the eos shaving cream, I have really irritable skin and this product hasn’t given me any problems! Use a razor with at least 5 blades and be gentle, always exfoliate first to soften the hairs
body oil/lotion: lotion up your whole body, I recommend cocoa butter or shea butter if you’re melanated since they’re better for our skin. Then top it off with body oil, I use one with essential oils and then one with glitter in it from b&bw
etcetera: I don’t own a body gua sha and I don’t really tan so I won’t be giving tips on those, sorry!
Nails
trim cuticles: Reminder to be careful when doing this! If not you can slice your finger and cause bleeding so be gentle. Clean up your cuticles by evening then out and get rid of any hangnails
buff/file: Use a buffer to even out the tops of your nails, and a file to shape them however you want 💅🏽
cuticle oil/nail strengthener: apply cuticle oil to the nail bed and nail strengthener. If you have weak nails like me this will help a lot in the long run, and if you have trouble with biting your nails there are products you can buy that will help with that
manicure/pedicure: If you really want to feel like that girl, go get your nails done! Or do them yourself, like I do! Get them all cutesy and sparkly or however you want!
Hair
massage your scalp: I have one of those scalp massagers so while I’m washing my hair I use that to help get the shampoo/conditioner really in there. It’s also a great way to stimulate hair growth and cleanliness
apply glycolic acid to scalp: I get my glycolic acid from ulta in the big ordinary one, it helps with a flaky/ dry scalp and soo much more. I basically use it for my whole body.
oiling your hair: There are tons of different hair oils, I use the ones from Mielle specifically the rosemary one. Whatever problems you have you can find the solution with hair oils.
hair masks: I do one every 2 months or just between protective hair styles. You want to get your hair nice and wet and apply it everywhere. On your scalp to your ends and wash it out thoroughly after about 20 minutes or however long it requires
heat protectant: If you’re going to put heat to your hair, use a specific shampoo and conditioner before to help make it easier (ogx has some good ones) and put heat protectant products in your hair. Nobody wants heat damage!
Lash/brows
brows: I get my eyebrows threaded once a month, 2x if needed because my eyebrows get really long and messy sometimes. Before you go in, have a set shape in mind, try and follow the natural shape of your eyebrows. Dear peachie and channels like that are great for finding one kind of shape suits your face for better facial harmony!
lashes: I only just started wearing falsies so I can’t tell you too much. Just make sure to keep your natural eyelashes clean, and moisturized. Use castor oil, vaseline, or coconut oil (or all 3!) on them to keep them thick and healthy. While wearing fake ones keep them clean and don’t leave them in for too long!
That’s it! It may seem like a whole lot, but your body will thank you for taking extra time to really care for it. Don’t forget to properly hydrate and eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Your body is the only one you have, so keep it healthy!
xoxo!

Self Care 101 🦋
Tumblr media
In this post I’ll be outlining my current routines as they relate to self care. I’ll cover everything from head to toe making sure not to skip your spirit. You cannot be a girl of ANYONE’S dreams if you aren’t taking care of the most important person in your world: you.
mornings:
wash face with gentle cleanser from curology, tone with organic Mamonde rose water and finish with rich moisturizer and spf30
brush teeth with activated charcoal toothpaste by Crest and baking soda for whitening and gum clarity
take vitamins : woman’s one a day, hair skin nails, biotin, vitamin c
drink glass of water then a cup of tea
black tea, raw cane sugar, a lemon slice, ginger
good for energy, immune function, and detox
showers:
this may sound so extra (😅), but depending on my hairstyle, I sometimes like to let the shower run for about five minutes with the door closed to create a sauna effect. this is especially if I have a mask on my hair.
my showers usually are about 20-30 minutes
I have a back brush, pink exfoliating gloves, a loofah, and tree hut body scrubs and I use them ALL.
I wash first with my dove beauty bar to assure clean skin before washing with EITHER my OGX Shea So Soft body wash or Dove Renewing Peony and Rose Oil body wash to add scent or silkiness to my skin.
Tumblr media
hair removal:
I haven’t yet mastered the art of waxing myself so I’m still riding the shave wave. *when I do I’ll make a post 4 that*
I exfoliate throughly before AND after shaving
I shave my entire body using Tree Hut Shaving Oil and a nice conditioner I’m not using. This leaves my skin super soft and silky and helps the razor to glide without skipping. I use Gillette Venus. no less than five blades, anything less is ASKING for nicks and a hard time.
Tumblr media
when I don’t feel like shaving, I use Nair. use at your own risk. yes, I Nair my ENTIRE BODY. only leaving it on for about 7 minutes I rinse in WARM (not hot) water and exfoliate afterwards. it is imperative to moisturize after to avoid irritation. however, Nair is much easier to do than shaving and seems to last an inkling longer.
after shaving, once a month, I pull out my KENZZI. it’s an IPL device and it has helped to slow the growth of my hair. it’s noticeable for us long, thick haired chicks. I use the second to lowest setting as a melanated babe, as the higher settings could burn me.
I know many endorse the hair on women movement and I can understand it. But I personally love my skin silky, hairless, and smooth.
nights:
after eating dinner, I wash my face and apply the tiniest bit of glycolic serum and my curology night cream. my skin has been the best it’s been in a few years. then I brush my teeth and rinse with peroxide.
every four days I give myself a facial
my favorite face masks:
The Ordinary Salicylic Acid mask
The Ordinary AHA + BHA mask
all Tony Moly sheet masks *luvvvvv those*
GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD clearing treatment *fav*
Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme mask
Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel mask
Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud mask
Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel mask
ORIGINS Clear Improvement mask
An at home honey and aloe mask
I apply a rich facial moisturizer and get to bed.
I then write in my planner my new plans and what I did that day if I hadn’t already. then after that I script and make mood boards in my diary. then I read a little. currently reading: Making Faces by Kevyn Aucoin, and Live Like a hot Chick by Jodi Lipper.
Tumblr media
emotions:
I talk to my grandmother about my feelings, she helps me sort things out. please try to find one person you trust to talk to, my messages are always open. 💓 I often overthink. I suffer from anxiety and clinical depression. sometimes these things make me FEEL limited. these experiences wax and wane. I remind myself that the darkness is temporary.
I write in my diary what I feel and track my emotions for potential patterns. I don’t manufacture or sugar coat my feelings, I just talk.
Tumblr media
sometimes you need a good cry. let it out. clean your slate. you’ll always feel better, sometimes great after a hard, deep sobbing cry.
I try to get out of the house and get some sunlight. it helps brighten my mood sometimes.
baths:
LOVE taking baths I don’t care what the status quo is about dirt. just rinse off. I love wrapping my hair up and soaking in warm-hot water.
first I run the water. as it’s running I add my bubble bath, then body wash, then my Shea Moisture fragrant coconut oil. it smells soooo good, literally yummy. then I inevitably scream from dipping my toe in the hot water. finally I get in, scrub down my body, emphasis on feet. then I wash, and just relax. I’ve even fallen asleep in the tub once, I was so zen.
careful not to soak too long or overdo it with your products. synthetic materials lingering in your lady bits for too long cause cause infections like bv or uti
some women add tea tree oil, acv, or even Aztec clay to their baths for wellness purposes. I love adding essential oils to my baths to relax and the natural scent is just great 🥺
when I get out I always put something that feels lush and soft on. *invest in super soft, comfy bath towels, they’ll make you feel so luxurious and soft after a nice relaxing bath*
flower:
the yoni is something sensitive that needs to be taken care of thoroughly, and differently than the rest of your body. it’s not recommended to use soaps down there, it can unbalance things and make you itch. also make you prone to infection. this is why I use clear warm water to clean. if I use soap it’s a sensitive, gentle formula. don’t ever try to clean the cavity. she’s a self cleaning vessel.
to shave, I trim my hair down as close as possible and use a FIVE BLADE razor with conditioner and take my time. making sure not to pass a spot twice, I apply moderate pressure and move slowly. when finished I rinse and scrub gently. I PAT not rub dry. to finish off I apply TendSkin, and salicylic acid to avoid ingrowns. once that’s soaked in I apply shea butter. very soft and pretty 🌸
⚠️ DO NOT PUT ON TIGHT PANTIES OR RIGHT PANTS AFTER SHAVING. it restricts the hairs and causes irritation and ingrowns. throw on some comfy loose shorts for a while, let it breathe
dietary needs:
drink plenty of water
cranberry juice
vitamin c
minimal red meat
probiotics
at home vagacial for the high maintenance girlies:
*make any necessary extractions with pointed and slanted tweezers *
scrub:
brown sugar, tea tree oil, a little shea butter
exfoliating and anti inflammatory
mask:
baking soda, fresh lemon juice, vitamin e oil, papaya juice, gelatin
fixes discoloration and brightens the skin while softening
moisturize:
aloe vera gel, rose hip seed oil
Tumblr media
smelling sweet:
ah yes, my favorite part. I love fragrance so much. I love to smell like you could literally break off a piece of me and eat it.
I find that using fragrant washes and oils make your scent more strong and help it linger. I already mentioned the body washes I use. the tree hut scrubs I use smell amazing also. I alike to add essential oils and man made scents like strawberry and chocolate to my Shea Moisture oil (so yummy).
I also use a fragrant lotion, eau de parfum, and fragrance mist.
here’s a list of some of my favorites:
perfumes:
jimmy choo fever
coach floral blush
yves saint laurent mon paris
victoria’s secret bombshell
victoria’s secret scandalous
valentino
fragrance mists:
victoria’s secret velvet petals, pure seduction, warm and cozy
bath and body works a thousand wishes, fiji pineapple palm, warm vanilla sugar, black raspberry vanilla
oils:
coconut
sweet almond
peppermint
chocolate scented essential oil
strawberry scented essential oil
orange
grapefruit
eucalyptus
sweetest combo ever:
vanilla extract, coconut oil, shea butter, and your favorite perfume. you’ll be smelling like a warm cupcake with extra sprinkles and icing 🧁
layering:
oil, lotion, eau de parfum, mist
pulse points:
inside elbows and knees, in between thighs, inner arms, behind ears, back of neck, ankles
Tumblr media
hair:
it’s super important to keep your hair moisturized. quenched tresses move, grow, shine and bounce. dry hair is limp, lackluster, and extremely fragile
my fav diy deep conditioner:
a banana, half an avocado, three spoons of honey, an egg, a spoonful of mayo, a spoonful of coconut, olive, and castor oil each
strength from egg, avocado, mayo and olive oil
moisture from avocado and honey
cover damp CLEAN hair and scalp in mixture and cover with a plastic bag, then towel for an hour, rinse thoroughly, and seal in moisture
fav hair products:
castor oil
fusionplex conditioner and mask
Aussie conditioner
wella goji berry mask
coconut oil
style booster edge control
helpful tips:
when shampooing, concentrate on the scalp and wash thoroughly twice, as the suds will naturally cleanse your stands without drying and stripping them
rinse hair with apple cider vinegar every now and then. it restores your ph balance, smooths the cuticle, clarifies the strands, and adds shine
always add oil and leave ins to DAMP hair, never dry; this will ensure you’re sealing in moisture
try to use smooth fabrics to dry your hair, bath towels encourage frizz and breakage
hands and feet:
Tumblr media
and last but not least, let’s cover manicuring and pedicuring.
it’s super important to make sure your nails are either DONE or filed, shaped, and smooth. at home maintenance is super easy. make a point to scrub your hands and feet well when bathing. make sure to stay on top of your cuticles by trimming or pushing them back. I like the look that pushing them gives. I use an orangewood stick, metal pusher and cuticle softener to make the process super easy and safe. after I’m done I add my pineapple scented cuticle oil. I do this on my fingers and toes.
invest in a rasp and pumice stone for your feet and use these gently every two weeks after soaking them in warm foot salts. rough usage can cause cuts and irritation. in between treatments keep your feet soft by slathering them in a moisturizing foot cream, cocoa/shea butter then oil to seal it all in. buy some soft thick aloe infused socks and wear them to sleep. you’ll thank me 😉
for info on how I do my nails click this
Tumblr media
well, that’s all I’ve got. I truly hope you enjoyed my post! it’s always fun sharing my advice with you all. any feedback is appreciated and question is welcomed ♡

Current Skin Favorites
FACE
CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser
Tumblr media
I absolutely love this cleanser, it cleared up all my acne in a week, fades dark spots super quickly, helps with skin texture and leaves my face feeling clean but not stripped. (The magic ingredient in this cleanser is niacinamide so if you’re sensitive to that, I wouldn’t suggest using it!)
BODY
1. Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Body Butter
Tumblr media
My absolute FAVORITE body butter. Super cheap and affordable. Has the best smell, pairs really well with vanilla fragrances. Lightweight enough to be used in the summer but thick enough to be used in rough winters and keeps skin hydrated (I went to college in a country where winter was often -16°C and below: this was a LIFE SAVER). The only reason I don’t use it anymore is because I can’t find it in my country.
2. Cantu Skin Therapy Hydrating Body Cream (Cocoa Butter)
Tumblr media
Has a nice cinnamon smell and is the perfect body butter texture. Absorbs easily on damp and dry skin. Leaves my skin feeling extra soft, even if I forget to use it some days. Not as good as the Vaseline Body Butter IMO, but a pretty close second.
3. St Ives Energizing Coconut & Coffee Scrub
Tumblr media
This scrub was too harsh for my face but perfect for my body. Has an amazing smell and is also surprisingly good at keeping my feet soft despite not being as rough as other body scrubs.
4. Dove Soap
Tumblr media
It makes me feel clean and doesn’t strip my skin. My favorites scents are the shea butter (with vanilla) and white.
5. Body Oils
Tumblr media
I’ve been really into wearing body oils lately. I love layering them with perfume during the day, but it’s my final step before going to bed at night. It helps me feel more relaxed and I sleep much better. My scent of choice the past few weeks has been Pink Sugar.
6. Pedi In A Bag
Tumblr media
Really good foot peel that works really well, even if you have very calloused feet (though you may have to use it more than once to get the results you want). The peeling process lasted me about a week, but the results were well worth it.
7. Aveeno Moisturizing Foot Mask
Tumblr media
A nice little pick me up for your feet, but not a necessity. I like to do this a week or two after a foot peel to help maintain the results.
MAKEUP
1. MAC Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Stick
Tumblr media
This is definitely my new favorite foundation. It’s light enough to give a ‘my skin but better’ look but also heavy enough to cover up dark spots with ease. I only put it on my trouble areas. The coverage is buildable (less is more with this if your goal is a natural finish).
You do need to moisturize or prime the skin before use, especially if you have dry skin. You should also set it with your powder of choice.
2. Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder
Tumblr media
This keeps my makeup in place FOREVER. My skin as also very oily and this kept it matte much longer than any other setting powder I had ever used. A little does go quite a long way with this.
DISCLAIMER: None of these images belong to me!

Amazing Tips On How To Get Soft Feet At Home
Tumblr media
If you are looking for how to get soft feet at home, then there can be any of the two reasons. One that you cannot go to the salon due to lockdown to get that relaxing pedicure. Or you really want to find the best natural ways that are without chemicals to heal the cracked and dry feet. Cracked feet are not only painful but also embarrassing. Also, it is important to remove the dead skin from your feet to prevent hard and crack heels.
What causes hard, dry, and cracked feet?
Many factors contribute to making your feet hard. It is also known as foot callus. It is caused by frequent friction and pressure against your skin. Normally, if you walk or run in tight shoes then you are more prone to make your feet hard. As a matter of fact, the good news is that they can be treated at home. However, there are some other factors as well that cause dry, rough feet. If you are overweight, have high arches, or naturally flat feet then it can cause uneven pressure on the feet soles. It can also increase the severity of foot calluses. Moreover, because of dead skin can cause corns and they are normally at the top or between your last two toes. If you don’t treat them, then they can be very painful. So make sure you don't wear very tight shoes. Also, a very common problem occurs in many women. It is called cracked heels. It happens when your feet are left un-hydrated and they become dry as well as rigid. In addition, when the pressure is put on the feet, and because of the lack of moisture, the skin is unable to expand. So it results in cracked heels. It mostly happens if you do hydrate your feet regularly or scrub them dry.
How to get soft feet?
Now let us discuss some simple yet effective methods that will help you to make your feet soft and smooth. 1) SOAK To get soft feet, always start with soaking your feet. when you soak them then it softens the skin. So, it will be very easy for you to remove the dead skin. Soak your feet in warm water and then you can also add some ingredients that are very effective on the hard dry feet. Furthermore, it helps to prepare your skin for the exfoliation as well as open the pores to get hydration. You can add: Some Epsom salts as it contains healing properties White vinegar because it contains acetic acid. It makes the dead skin easy to remove.Lemon juice because it contains citric acid that helps in removing the dead skin cell.Honey for a natural moisturizer. 2) SCRUB OR EXFOLIATE After soaking, your feet will be softer, and removing the dead skin will be very easy now. You have to scrub your feet or exfoliate gently. You can use a pumice stone to exfoliate and remove the dead skin cells. Make sure you don’t aggressively scrub the feet. Scrub them gently and keep rubbing the stone until you feel soft skin on your feet. If you feel any pain or swelling then instantly stop scrubbing your feet. 3) EXTRA CARE If there is too much dead skin and cracked skin on your feet then you need some extra care. You can easily make a homemade mask to heal the cracked and dry skin by providing enough hydration. Some of the natural homemade foot masks are explained below. Honey Foot Mask: Take 3 tablespoons of honey, rice flour, and apple cider vinegar. Mix them well and apply this mask to your feet. Leave it for 15 minutes and then wash it. Jojoba Oil Foot Mask: Add some drops of jojoba oil and mix it with 1 tablespoon of oatmeal. Massage this mixture on your feet and leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with normal water. Coconut Oil: Take some coconut oil and start massaging this oil on the feet. Coconut oil is famous for its intense hydration as well as healing properties. Use coconut oil as a foot mask by massaging in this oil on your feet and wear cotton socks. Leave it overnight and you will wake up with ultra-soft feet the next day. 4) SEAL THE MOISTURE After doing the above-mentioned steps, its time to seal the moisture of your feet by applying hydrating moisturizer or foot cream. Also, now if your feet will be able to absorb moisture even more. We recommend that you use special foot cream because they are specifically made according to the skin on your feet. Additional Tips 1) HYDRATE As you now know that hydration is the key to keep your skin soft and supple. But not only the outer hydration is important but also the inside hydration. Therefore, make sure to drink enough water or hydrating drinks & juices. Also, eat enough water-rich foods such as watermelons or cucumbers. It will also help you greatly to maintain the softness of your skin not on just feet but the overall body. 2) TAKE CARE OF YOUR FEET Always try to avoid wearing very tight shoes or ill-fitting shoes. Because it can cause infections and injuries on your feet. Also, it can be very challenging to heal them in the future. However, just after doing the above steps, do not start walking barefoot. Foot Care Tips for Morning Foot Pain: Foot care Cream
Tumblr media
Have you ever experience foot pain before you ever even get out of bed. Morning Foot Pain is the most common foot problem and there is a good chance you need to incorporate this “Foot Care Tips” routine into your daily doings.
Morning Foot Pain can be caused by many conditions from tight ligament/muscles to severe plantar fasciitis or even simply just plain old inflammation. You are lucky to be reading this article on Morning Foot Care Tips with Best Foot Cream
Standing up right away causes sudden stretching and pulling of your ligaments and this can start the pain cascade. In addition to the hurting, Morning Foot Pain can severely impact your day-to-day routine and may prevent you from staying active.
The more work we work on our body the more it will show results. You must have heard the phrase No Pain No Gain, believe that It is important to “warm-up” and “stretch” the foot before you even get out of bed.
Here is our recommended “Morning Foot Care Tips ” routine to set you and your feet up for success for the entire day.
MORNING ROUTINE
1) Stretch your arch
It is important while laying on your back, lift your leg up and wrap a towel around the front of your foot. Then, with both of your hands pull on the towel and stretch the foot and ankle. Your toes should be lightly pulled towards your nose. This directly stretches the plantar fascia and the calf muscles. A tight calf muscle can contribute to pain in the feet as well.
2) Draw an air alphabet with your toes.
It's a great and fun exercise to “wake up” the deep muscles within the foot. Stretch up your both legs and point it up as far away it could get. By using your toe as a pen, start writing the alphabet on the air as you are writing on sand.
3) Apply Foot Care Cream
It is important to not wake up instantly and start walking. If you have pain on your foot, or they are dry or even cracked do what skin care dermatologist says. Apply the best Foot Cream for Cracked Heels the best way to relax your foot with some essential oil that presents in Foot Repair Cream. It is a better way to start your morning with all the essential natural oil.
4) Toe crunches
Another exercise that specifically strengthens the muscles directly beneath the plantar fascia ligament is the toe crunch. Simply curl your toes downwards hard as you can and hold the crunch for 3 seconds. Release and then repeat. Perform this for 2 minutes straight. As a result of contracting and releasing, muscles, bones, and ligaments are falling back into their proper place.
5) Foot Massage with
In addition to the above stretches, everybody suggests you pamper your feet with a mini massage (1 minute per foot). Apply deep pressure to the ball of your foot, your arch, your heel, and even your toes. When massaging your arch, use both thumbs in an upward motion from the heel towards your big toe with Foot Care Cream. A mini massage will help loosen tight muscles and also increase blood circulation in your feet which will help with everything else as well.
6) You can Soften Feet Overnight with these Easy Home Remedies
Lemon-Coconut Oil Foot Rub
Mashed Papaya Foot Mask
Shea Butter Rubbing Cream
Lemon-Infused Foot Soak
Honey Feet Moisturizer
Olive Oil Softening Balm
Anti-Dry Cracked Feet Oatmeal Pack
Tea Tree Oil Overnight Foot Remedy
Sesame Oil Foot Rub
Aloe Vera Gel Foot Moisturizer
Cocoa Butter Overnight Leave-On
Or you can simply get Foot Cream Moisturizer that will do its job. With these entire crack healing, moisturizing advantages.
That's why I offer that Moisturizing Foot Cream. If you use this in the morning, you will not find any pain. If you intend to use this foot cream in the evening or right before your bedtime, I would consider using a different essential oil. Feel free to substitute the essential oils used as you see fit. A Good Morning with essential oil would be lavender or Roman Chamomile.
I hope this simple routine will help alleviate some of your foot pain in the morning. If you find results with this routine personally, please share them with us by leaving a comment below…

Mint Chocolate Whipped Body Butter Recipe (Just 3 Ingredients!)
New Post has been published on http://healingawerness.com/news/mint-chocolate-whipped-body-butter-recipe-just-3-ingredients/
Mint Chocolate Whipped Body Butter Recipe (Just 3 Ingredients!)
Tumblr media
This mint chocolate whipped body butter recipe uses only 3 ingredients and is a lovely way to nourish your skin.
Mint chocolate chip ice cream. During my childhood summers, this was my favorite treat. To this day, the aroma of cocoa and mint bring back memories of yesteryear. So it probably comes as no surprise that I managed to bottle this delicious scent in my latest whipped body butter recipe!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What I Love About This Whipped Body Butter
This is a great whipped body butter for summertime for a couple of reasons:
1. It doesn’t melt too easily. The biggest problem with whipped coconut oil is that it melts at temperatures above 76 degrees Fahrenheit. This recipe takes advantage of the high melting point of cocoa butter, which makes this body butter more stable in the summer heat.
2. It has a wonderful cooling effect! The peppermint essential oil in this whipped body butter provides a refreshing cooling effect that is just the thing for combating the summer heat. (Learn where I shop for high quality therapeutic essential oils online.)
This is one of my favorite body butters to date. Not only because it smells incredibly decadent, but it softens my skin like crazy. Dry elbows or feet? This combination of cocoa butter and coconut oil seems to work magic! So I get to smell like my favorite dessert and my skin is softer than ever? It’s a definite winner for me!
This would make a wonderful gift set (for others OR for yourself!) if you combined it with: Peppermint Foaming Sugar Scrub and Peppermint DIY Foot Scrub.
Mint Chocolate Whipped Body Butter Recipe
Yields about 1 1/2 cups of whipped body butter
Ingredients you need:
Equipment:
A stand mixer is the best tool for this recipe. I personally use my KitchenAid Classic Stand Mixer and its whisk attachment for whipped body butter recipes (this mixer was hands-down one of the most awesome Christmas gifts ever–thanks hubby!).
A hand mixer will also work, but it may require a little more muscle and patience. A blender or food processor may not work because they will get too warm, which can prevent the oil from whipping up properly.
Instructions:
1. Add coconut oil and cocoa butter to your mixing bowl.
You actually want the cocoa butter in a solid state for it to whip up, so I used a butter knife to get my cocoa butter into the mixing bowl.
Alternately (and for a super smooth, clump-free body butter) you can melt the coconut oil and cocoa butter together over the stove, then cool the mixture in the fridge until they are mostly solid. I personally found this step unnecessary, but then I don’t really mind a bump of cocoa butter in my body butter now and then.
2. Sprinkle about 20-40 drops of peppermint essential oil on top, depending on how strong you’d like the peppermint aroma (and cooling effect) to be. I personally used about 40 drops.
3. Every 1-2 minutes, stop the mixer and scrape the sides of the bowl. This helps mix it up nice and smooth. Mix for a total of about 8 minutes to get this body butter perfectly whipped and airy.
4. Scoop your mint chocolate whipped body butter into a jar or glass storage container. I first made this several weeks ago, have used it almost every day since, and I still have about 1/4 jar left!

Summer Foot Problems That Can Be Solved By Best Foot Cream
Tumblr media
It seems like every year, summer is getting longer and hotter. While this can be great for our social lives and overall mood, there are certain risks that come along with it. The likes of sunburn, dehydration, and difficulty sleeping are some of the more well known issues we have in summer.
Don’t worry. There are many ways to prevent these future foot conditions and Best Foot Cream is one of them.
Today we will look at some of the most common foot problems people experience during summer, and what you can do to keep your feet healthy.
In This Article
Achy Feet
Blisters
Nail Care
Most Common Foot Problem
Sunburn
How to use Best Foot Cream
Achy Feet
There are many different circumstances that contribute to painful feet during the summer.
For starters, we tend to be more active in summer than we are during the winter months, going on outdoor excursions to the beach, the woods, festivals, and theme parks.
This increased activity puts our feet under more strain than they are used to, especially considering many of the places we go have uneven terrain. While we don’t want to discourage outdoor physical activity, spreading these events out and giving your feet a proper rest will mean that you are able to have fun, without developing any aches and pain that comes with overusing your feet.
Blisters
Even if you don’t typically experience blisters, they can become more common on your feet during the summer months. One reason for this is that we tend to change our footwear to lighter, looser shoes, such as sandals or flip-flops. These may feel comfortable and breezy, but they are much looser than normal shoes and tend to rub off our skin more.
This friction can result in blisters, which are bubbling areas of skin filled with clear fluid. To avoid developing blisters during the summer months, try not to rely too much on this kind of footwear.
Take your shoes off in areas that you know won’t have a glass or any other cutting risks, find sandals that conform tightly to your feet, and apply foot cream moisturizer under shoes or sandals, well-fitting shoes with plenty of cushioning and support when you can.
Blisters are easily avoidable when you stay conscious of your feet, but they can be extremely uncomfortable and can even become infected, so don’t rely too heavily on footwear that gives you more air.
Nail Care
If you’re wearing more open-topped shoes than usual in the summer, it is essential to devote extra time and care to your toenails. The increased exposure they will see during these months makes it more likely that they will develop a fungal nail infection, as does the increased amount of sweat in our shoes, and visiting places like public swimming pools.
Cleaning your feet regularly and applying moisturizing foot cream around nails can help avoid any nasty infections. Making sure your nails are properly clipped will help prevent infections from taking hold or deteriorating.
Make sure to clip your nails as the season begins, and be sure to cut in a relatively horizontal fashion. You may think it’s natural to give your nails a sort of n-shape, especially given the shape of nail clippers, but this can cause the sides of your nails to grow into your skin. It is also important to allow your nails time to breathe, so take about 5 days every month where you go nail-polish free.
Most Common Foot Problem
It is the most common summer foot problems. Due to heat, our body requires more water and some time our body didn't get a sufficient amount of water, that can hydrate our feet.
Feet can perspire more from the summer heat. Wet feet from sweat can cause bacteria or fungus conditions such as athlete’s foot.
For the same reason, try to get out of footwear that gets wet at the beach or in a season rainstorm as quickly as you can. If your feet stay wet for long, you risk skin difficulties on the sole of the foot and in between toes that can cause callouses.
Wearing good quality socks that will reduce water and keep your feet drier. Avoid socks made up of cotton and nylon, which hold sweet.
Sunburn
Finally, with all the increased sun exposure your feet will be getting, it is absolutely vital that you make sure to put on plenty of sun cream. Your feet are far less used to getting the sun than the rest of your body, and so, are far more susceptible to burning.
Make sure not to forget them when you’re putting on Foot Care Cream, but more importantly, make sure to top it up throughout the day, as the cream will also wash off more easily compared to other parts of your body.
How to use Best Foot Cream
Wash the affected area with lukewarm water and pat dry. Apply Derma Essentia’s Best Foot cream moisturizer that comes with cocoa butter and all essential oil avocado oil, coconut oils, shea butter, liberally over affected areas. Gently massage and allow it to dry skin. Re-apply twice daily, after taking shower and again before bedtime. Trust me it will work for the long term.

Reader Food Diary: Jennifer & Family’s Success Story
Welcome to our 2019 Reader Diary series where we are going to be sharing success stories + what people ate for a week! We are still accepting entries, and those who are featured will receive $50 in groceries from Thrive Market, 2 of my cookbooks, and a free Prepear meal planning program membership for a year. Get all the details (and share your entry with us!) on this page.
Hello! We are the Brees Bunch, and we live in Southern California. We have three children ages 17, 15, and 9. Both my husband and I work full time, but with opposite schedules. He’s a professional musician, and I’m an instructional coach. We have a lot of food concerns in our family, so we’ve been slowly introducing real food since January 2017, but really started committing to it in September of that year when our daughter was diagnosed with ADD.
My husband has Type 2 Diabetes and needs to eat lower-carb. He detests any type of seafood. My 17-year-old is a vegetarian but will eat fish occasionally. She has also been diagnosed with depression and anxiety. She has relied on heavily processed meat replacements instead of making vegetarian meals. My 9-year-old has severe ADD and functions better eating lots of healthy proteins and eliminating processed or sugary foods. My 15-year-old son has grown a foot this last year and is constantly hungry and usually turns to junk food to satisfy his hunger. And then there’s me—I’ve suffered from severe migraines for years and am always exhausted. Plus, I need to lose a significant amount of weight.

We knew what was best for our family but felt that our tight food budget and busy schedules prevented us from doing that. However, there was a point last year when we realized how much we were relying on processed food or take out for the majority of our meals. Not only were we spending way too much money, we just didn’t feel well. Our house felt tense all the time.
Success Story
One evening, as I went up to bed feeling sad and frustrated, I made the decision to commit to purchasing and preparing food that was beneficial, not harmful. I began looking for ways to do that and still stay within a strict budget. I came across the 100 Days of Real Food site and began to read and implement great ideas, like using only whole wheat products and adding fruit and veggies to every meal. I’m also a big believer in making food ahead of time and doubling recipes to have food to freeze. It was a bit slow at the beginning, and some of my family members resisted. But the benefits have been awesome.
So far…
I have lost 25 pounds from May – September 2017 (and an additional 15 lbs January 2018 to now!) and my migraines have diminished greatly!
My youngest daughter with ADD has shown increased attention after we transitioned to whole foods and cooking at home.
My husband has been able to maintain healthy blood sugar levels consistently for his diabetes.
My vegetarian daughter is able to find ways to make real food instead of always purchasing packaged, processed vegetarian items.
And, my son is able to satisfy his hunger by making snacks out of real food.
How We’ve Done It (so far)
We signed up for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) box through a local farm and shop at Costco once a month for our bulk purchases. We also purchase a large box once a month from Butcher Box, which provides meat that is humanely raised without antibiotics or hormones. Then, we plan weekly meals together as a family. I ask for suggestions for dinners and breakfasts.
Our children are responsible for packing their own lunches. It used to be extremely difficult to plan lunches, since all 3 kids like different things. I decided to give each child a weekly set amount of money to purchase lunch foods—this would include an entrée, fruit, veggies, and a snack.
We shop as a family once a week, and it has been awesome to have the kids plan, budget, and shop for their lunches. It gives them more freedom and they like trying new things. Plus, they are much more likely to eat the food they’ve chosen because it was their decision. In addition, they can use anything from the freezer or fridge if they get tired of the same lunch foods for the week. Sometimes, they will plan together and share foods.
All 3 children help my husband, and I make meals at home, and our oldest usually cooks for the family at least once a week. Our meals are usually meat or protein-based, but we have side dishes that are hearty so that our vegetarian feels satisfied. We try to plan at least one vegetarian meal each week. In January 2019, we determined as a family that our next step on our real food journey would be to eliminate any added sugar for 40 days to see if we felt any better. We decided we could use small amounts of raw organic honey or pure maple syrup if needed.
We don’t have a lot of snack food—we usually have leftover breakfast items, homemade trail mix, fresh fruit, and nut butter, or hard-boiled eggs and veggies. For treats, since we’re eliminating added sugar, we splurged on Lara bars and fruit cups (in 100% fruit juice), just for this month.
We’ve cut out buying juices and sodas over the past year, so our beverages are very simple. I drink black coffee in the morning and peppermint tea later in the day. My husband occasionally has black coffee in the morning and black unsweetened iced tea in the afternoon. Our kids usually have water or unsweetened sparkling water with dinner.
For breakfast, 2 out of the 3 will drink organic whole milk, and the other will have organic unsweetened almond milk. We recently invested in glass reusable water bottles to encourage the kids to take a water bottle to school and hydrate! I had to have a chat with my 9-year-old when I kept noticing an empty juice box in her lunchbox. One of her friends was sharing her juice with my daughter every day. We had a great conversation, and my daughter shared she wanted something more than water with her lunch. She decided that a peach herbal unsweetened iced tea or sparkling water would meet her needs.
Our food diary is mainly what I ate throughout the week, but includes at least one lunch from each child, so you can see the variety and the choices they made.
Our Food Diary
Day 1
Breakfast: Chile relleno casserole, roasted potatoes and peppers, fresh fruit. Lunch: Tomato basil soup, grilled cheese sandwiches on sourdough bread. This is a typical meal after grocery-shopping. We usually try to have something simple since we shop after church and everyone is ready to eat by the time we get home. I freeze individual soup portions for lunches or snacks at a later time. Dinner: Beef taco bowls: grass-fed beef, organic black beans, roasted street corn, sautéed peppers and onions, organic romaine lettuce, sliced avocado, sour cream, salsa. Taco bowls are great for our family since everyone can customize them to fit their needs.
Day 2
Breakfast: Broccoli-cheddar quinoa egg bites, grapefruit or mandarins. With our early mornings, breakfasts need to be ones that can be taken to go! Lunch: Homemade Protein Box: Almonds, cheese cubes, hard-boiled egg, fresh berries. During my work day, I don’t have time to eat a whole lunch so I usually pack snack-type foods that are easy to eat on the go. Dinner: Pork chops with basil cream sauce, smashed potatoes, roasted broccoli. My daughter added Parmesan cheese to the broccoli. Treat: Lara bars and mint tea. This was the first day of cutting out added sugar, so I planned ahead to have something tasty and simple as a treat.
Day 3
Breakfast: Peanut butter oatmeal: rolled oats with natural peanut butter added while cooking, plus a drizzle of pure maple syrup, topped with apple slices (this is one of my kiddos’ favorite meals). Lunch: Homemade bento box: rice, egg sushi, sautéed spinach and garlic, quick pickled cucumber and cabbage, mixed veggies (this was the lunch my 17-year old packed today) Dinner: Spicy salmon cakes with homemade tartar sauce, garlic-herb roasted potatoes, roasted asparagus, and broccoli. My youngest is still not a fan of asparagus so the broccoli was for her. However, she knows that she still needs to try items she doesn’t like, even if it’s just a bite. Treat: Homemade hot cocoa sweetened with maple syrup and fresh whipped cream, homemade triple coconut cookies. It was a cold, rainy day and we were all wanting some hot chocolate. While making dinner, I made hot chocolate with dark cocoa powder, organic whole milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and maple syrup. I used organic heavy cream and some maple syrup to make fresh whipped cream. I also made triple coconut cookies with unsweetened coconut, coconut flour, and coconut oil. They were super crumbly but tasted delicious!
Day 4
Breakfast: Rustic skillet with leftover garlic-herb potatoes, scrambled eggs, sautéed spinach, and cheddar cheese. When I make roasted veggies and potatoes for a meal the night before, I try to make extra so I can make a skillet meal for breakfast. My family gobbled up all the roasted veggies so I added some spinach this time. I made breakfast and then went upstairs to finish getting ready. I came back downstairs to take a picture, and the food was gone! Lunch: Eat out with colleagues at Panera Bread: Greek goddess salad, turkey BLT with avocado. I rarely get to have a long lunch or eat out during the work week, so this was a treat for me. One of my friends is vegan so our restaurant choices are limited. Panera is a great fit for all of us. Dinner: Whole-wheat pasta with homemade marinara sauce, Caesar salad with homemade dressing. My daughter made this meal, and the kids ate before I was able to get home from work so I didn’t get a picture of the meal. Snack: I was hungry after dinner so I had an apple from our CSA box and a square of Parmesan cheese. The kids had homemade trail mix.
Day 5
Breakfast: Homemade granola, organic plain Greek yogurt sweetened with maple syrup, topped with berries. Lunch: Whole wheat organic sandwich thins mini cheese pizzas, popcorn, sliced cucumbers, banana, and mandarin oranges. This was my youngest daughter’s lunch for the week. We use the sandwich thins to make mini pizzas since it’s less bread and they get nice and crispy. They’re good even cold from the lunchbox! Dinner: Organic teriyaki chicken over coconut rice, sautéed baby bok choy, and radishes. We received the bok choy and radishes from our CSA box. I’ve roasted radishes before but have never sautéed them. They paired nicely with the bok choy. I like the flavor and texture better sautéed rather than roasted. My vegetarian daughter had mushrooms and cashews instead of chicken.
Day 6
Breakfast: Breakfast bars: I used the leftover dough from the coconut cookies earlier in the week and added mashed banana, walnuts, and chia seeds. I pressed them in a pan and baked for 20 minutes. My kiddos had the option to top with organic Greek yogurt and berries or have a hard-boiled egg on the side. Lunch: Uncured roast beef sandwich with Havarti cheese, pesto, and pickles, on sourdough bread, side salad, kiwis, multigrain tortilla chips (this is my son’s choice for his lunches this week). Dinner: Breakfast for dinner: Green chili egg bake, green salad, bacon, sweet potato home fries. This egg bake is adapted from a diabetic cookbook. It makes a 9 x 13 size pan, and we cut it up and freeze individual portions. You can add any cheese or meat you’d like. We usually make it vegetarian, but we had family over for brunch recently and made a bacon, gruyere, and caramelized onion egg bake that tasted very close to the bacon and gruyere sous vide egg bites I sometimes splurge on at my favorite Starbucks.
Day 7
Breakfast: Leftover egg bake and fruit. Lunch: Snack box: cheese cube, seedless cucumber slices, hard-boiled egg, blueberries, kiwi slices, mandarin, cashews. Dinner: Split pea soup topped with ham, Cobb salad, cheesy biscuits made with almond flour for lower carbs. The soup is made with vegetable broth so it’s vegetarian and then we top it with ham for all the meat-eaters! I replace whole wheat flour with almond flour for the biscuits, and it holds together fairly well. If there are any leftover biscuits, I save them for breakfast or snacks.
Final Thoughts
Our journey is far from over, but I think we’ve made great progress over the last year. The next step is to add another vegetarian dinner to our weekly rotation and to plan meals more efficiently so that I can double, or triple, recipes and have much more variety in the freezer. I think my advice to any family who would like to eat real food is to tackle one small area and do it well, then move on to the next challenge. I think that every day we try something new and beneficial, we should be proud that we’re making growth toward health!
