Last year in the summer, when I was only a few months into being a Pedro fan and there still was hope for me, hehehe, I ended up falling into PPCU (Pedro Pascal Character Universe) fic because I'd slowly been making my way through his filmography and watched The Mandalorian. You all know which episode prompted that... yup, S02E01 The Marshall. My brain went 'I wonder if there's anything on Mando on AO3...', well, famous last words. As it happened to be, @prolix-yuy was one of the first author names that stuck with me on AO3, and when I joined Tumblr a month or two later, I was psyched to see LJ was here too!

For those who aren't familiar yet with her: she is such a fucking excellent writer. I had a really hard time picking only one of her fics for this Summer Spotlight Series, but I just had to go for Possession because Jesus Christ, it's so hot. But it's so much more than delicious smut, because you can really feel the love and care that has been put into this fic (as LJ does with everything she writes!). She's captured both Din's and Cobb's personalities in such an accurate, precise manner, and it's those differences between them that make this such a great piece.

I'm also a really big fan of MMF/threesome fic that doesn't have reader x P Boy, or just heterosexual sex, as the main focus; to each their own, but I like my men and my smut queer, if possible. Possession also really delivers on this, and the buildup towards Din and Cobb getting intimate is just so.fucking.GOOD. Exactly how I would imagine that would go in such a situation, very true to their characters. It's an actual threesome, with everybody involved really into it (not 'taking turns'), and damn it's just fire. I found myself being into reader as much as I was into any of the guys, and I love how she read them so well and figured out all that mutual attraction -- and decided to get in on that.

I've lost track of how many times I've re-read Possession at this point, but it's definitely somewhere around 8 to 10 times. It's also the perfect example of how 'smutty fic' really isn't just about sex, but often a total character study and so revealing about desires, intentions, things that may hold a person back, etc. It's also one of the absolute finest fics in how it deals with Din's helmet and how that may be in contrast with his desires (and how he solves it).

LJ, I've said before on several occasions how much I love your work, but I'm just gonna tell you again. You rock!

Happy Fandom Friday. I have a brand new (ish) rec and an old rec to balance each other out 😊

First up is the latest part of @shirozora-draws Dangerous Dreams series which came out this week. It's a gorgeously written DinLuke story. It's definitely worth reading from the first instalment because the way that the relationships develop is so good. The first chapter of the final part has me on the edge of my seat.

Secondly I discovered Force Bond by kittandchips this week but the first version of the story was written when the Sequel Trilogy first came out. It's been updated to fit in with canon since then and while I've only read the four main parts there's also a handful of one shots. At the core of the story is Luke and Vader's relationship and it's funny and thrilling and really moving in equal measure.

OOOOH these both seem really interesting. I've absolutely been meaning to get into reading more Luke Skywalker fic, and these seem like two excellent options. I absolutely adore a good relationship build up like the one you've described in Dangerous Dreams, and an AU where Vader is raising teenage Luke? I'm in. These both seem wonderful and thank you so much for sending them in!

And horny. And full of Billy's Issues. Plus some neat werewolf worldbuilding and my favourite type of Deus Ex Maxine.

Everything In Its Right Place by JustSomeGuyDontWorryAboutIt | Mandalorian | Din Djarin/Cobb Vanth | 12k In which Cobb Vanth is forced off-planet, roped into a rescue mission, and made to stew torturously in his feelings. Just because you’ve spent months fantasizing about shucking him from that armour like a Sorgan krill doesn’t mean he’s thought about you even once, he reminded himself. Don’t make this awkward. Just enjoy the company while it lasts.

I, too, think Cobb should get to tap that so hard they cause an interstellar incident about it. And that's after he charms the last remaining jedi into giving the kid back.

Sometimes a good friend slides you a link to a fic their friend has started writing with a 'hey you ship this, check this out' and then you lose your whole fucking mind, usually directly into the comment box, until the whole thing is complete. This is the time loop fic of DREAMS. This is the GOLD FUCKING STANDARD. This has, unequivocally, REWIRED MY GODDAMN BRAIN. This is, as far as I'm concerned, one of the best fics ever written. Run don't walk.

(Or, Bo-Katan Kryze finds herself in the depths of a personal crisis at a birthday party for some asshole she doesn't even know. She makes the best of a bad situation. The Armorer helps.)

Boba leaves Djarin to his tracking while he takes deep breaths and tries to convince himself that running screaming into the wastes is not how he is going to deal with all this. He needs to think smarter, not harder. The sarlacc is an enormous motherfucking terror dome. It cannot move far, and it cannot possibly move fast. If it moved, it has to be around here somewhere. Someone has to have felt it or seen it. Someone has to know something about sarlaccs. Someone living. Someone dead. (Boba sets out to hunt his white whale.)

Mandalorian Fic Rec

in honor of the train wreck that was season 3 of one of my favorite shows coming to an end, here is a list of my personal favorite fics on ao3 that filled the hole in my soul. i've read (and reread) everything on this list at least twice, and i love ALL OF IT.

It is an old Mandalorian proverb that a child is born in one's dreams.

For over twenty years, Din has dreamed of fire and smoke, bloodshed, and bloodcurdling screams. They say it’s a bad omen. They say he's fated to be childless. They say he has no dream child.

What he does have, however, is a persistent green creature who sneaks into his ship, eats all his food, and refuses to leave him alone.

(In which, all Mandalorians receive recurring dreams of their intended foundlings and Din just so happens to be the exception to that rule).

Paz Vizsla cannot stand that Din Djarin got to walk away with both the darksaber and his beskar. He is dar'manda: he should not get these things. So Paz is going to duel Djarin, and he is going to win the darksaber off of him. This time, he won't lose.

But first, Paz has to find him, and that task is not so easy. Especially not when Djarin has all sorts of friends all over the galaxy, and a chronic inability to stay in one place for longer than five minutes. Paz has his work cut out finding Djarin, but he'll do it. And he just might learn some things along the way.

Din is no stranger to pain. He’s been shot, he’s been stabbed, he’s been beaten unconscious. He’s fallen from too high and broken too many bones and more than once nearly died for no good reason.

But this… Watching the Jedi take Grogu away...

It’s like his heart has been yanked through his beskar, all his internal organs carved up and carted off, only a hollow empty ache left in that warm place where the kid had lived.

And yet this is the Way...

--- This is a story of bounties and battles, of unexpected meetings with old friends, and of the making of new allies, as Din travels the Outer Rim Systems after giving up The Child. It's a story of (unintentional) self-discovery and (accidental) fame, Din stumbling sideways into realization and revelation, as he learns what it means- for him- to walk the Way of the Mandalore.

  Contains joyful reunions, action, feels, and found family, with a happy ending all around.

At that moment, when the Mandalorian removes his helmet and destroys the only way of life he has known, it is easy. This is the Way. Now he needs to learn what comes after.

The Deserter by AgentMalkere (din djarin/migs mayfield, complete)

Migs isn’t certain what he’s expecting when he follows Scary-Cop Lady, but the man in Mandalorian armor scares a good ten years off his life. Thankfully, it’s painted green with red and yellow accents – not unpainted, shiny silver. Migs has zero percent interest in ever running into Mando again. He doesn’t have a fucking death wish.

The green Mandalorian isn’t alone. There’s another woman who projects a frozen, deadly calm that Migs wants nothing to do with and… a guy. No, seriously, in this intimidating lineup there’s this super unassuming looking human with brown hair and brown eyes and a sort of soft looking face.

Migs isn't looking to get invested - he just wants to survive. He gets invested anyway.

Din is used to being a faceless bounty hunter no one listens to. Being Mand'alor is...an adjustment.
