Ceremonies vary by region but typically include symbolic acts like lighting a personal lantern in Luminiaz or traversing a path marked with ancestral symbols in Eldariaz. In Naidya, families create large sand mandalas on beaches, which are washed away by the tide as a symbol of accepting life's impermanence.

Debut (19 years) For those from higher or noble families, debut ceremonies are significant. These debuts are grand affairs, involving formal processions and elaborate outfits, especially in Stellis and Eldariaz, where many nobles reside. Higher family debuts also have charitable events attached, where debutants make symbolic contributions to society.

Princess/Prince Day Once limited to royalty, Princess/Prince Day is now a community-wide celebration symbolizing personal and collective maturity. Across provinces, participants dress in traditional or royal-inspired attire, and communities often bestow "honorary titles" to individuals who have greatly contributed to the welfare of their regions. In Dridells, eco-conscious initiatives are emphasized, with locals planting trees and plants to symbolize the continued growth of individuals and the community. It's also called this for those 13th birthdays.

Sweet 16 Seen as the first taste of independence, Sweet 16 parties are joyful celebrations where young people are encouraged to embrace self-expression. These celebrations are popular in urban areas like Agrios, where industrial spaces are converted into themed venues with music and dancing. In Primos, teens often participate in outdoor challenges, embracing the spirit of adventure that marks this age.

Spring Equinox (March 19) Spring Equinox, or Ostara, marks the rebirth of nature. Eldariaz observes it with grand outdoor gatherings where people plant flowers as part of renewal rituals. In Dridells, the focus is on eco-friendly practices, encouraging people to adopt plants or participate in river cleanups. Cultural performances and traditional music are common, with everyone donning light, floral attire.

Summer Solstice (June 20/21) The Summer Solstice is an anticipated outdoor festival that is a province-wide celebration in Valero, with people gathering on the coast for bonfires, live music, and dancing. In Agrios, industrial parks are converted into open-air celebration venues. Naidya’s coastal residents host unique night swims as a community bonding experience, marking the long day’s end with festivities by the ocean.

Halloween Festivals (October 29/31) During Halloween, Nirin’s canyon villages are transformed into immersive historical settings where ancient folklore comes to life. Roughing out the main two character designs for a game idea Im starting on, doesnt really have a good name yet. "Starry Seas", "Stargazer", "Astraea's Comet"? Unsure yet. I intend for it to be short so I can actually finish this.

The game is about confessing your crush to a comet girl you normally cant see very often, by fighting to gather the fragments of a spell that lets you reach the starry skies.

Blue witch girl is Phoebe, the Seaside Witch and player character. She lives in an old lighthouse just outside of her tiny coastal town.

Dress lady is Astraea, Phoebe's crush who lives on a comet that only passes Earth once a year, thus she only visits a very brief time each year.

The chibi Phoebe is feeling out proportions for the sprite art, since it'll be very cramped and Im not much of a spriter so a baseline helps.

I havent the slightest idea how Im realistically going to do the music, given Ive never made music and dont have music friends, but I hope if I get far enough I can figure it out?

Jeremy started his gap year working on a farm in Queensland, and once that work had ended and he'd saved up some cash, his first major trips were in that same area

The Whitsunday Islands - Here Jeremy spent a week just kicking back on the beach with his new found friends; swimming, sailing, snorkelling off reefs and generally living well

2. The Great Barrier Reef - He couldn't pass up the opportunity, and so of course they also took a trip to the Great Barrier Reef, and went snorkelling there too. He's never quite got over how magical that experience was.

After a few weeks hanging around in Queensland, Jeremy and a friend travelled down to Sydney, where they set about exploring, and he eventually got a job working as a life guard!

3. Sydney Harbour - Predictable? Maybe. Worth it? Yeah! Jeremy had a great time seeing all the iconic sights, hitting up museums and walks and getting loads of pictures, and also just getting a feel for the city as a whole.

4. Bondi Beach - What surfer could he call himself if he didn't hit up Bondi? Once he'd got a job, he spent a lot of early mornings ad evenings out here with his new lifeguard pals catching the surf, or just hanging out on the beach and loving life. The also explored the coastal trail!

5. Blue Mountains (Echo Point) - Another favourite activity, when they had the chance, was to go inland and explore the amazing Blue Mountain scenery. One of Jeremy's all-time favourites was the walk from Echo Point to go and see Three Sisters

As it got to the end of Summer, Jeremy's contract finished and so he travelled down to Melbourne for a few weeks to go and stay with a friend's cousin who had a place down there!

6. Melbourne, The Laneways - Jeremy had a great few weeks in Melbourne, hanging out at various places and going and catching the surf at Bells Beach nearby. One of the things that stood out was exploring the 'laneways' in the city, and finding amazing shops and places to eat.

But eventually Jeremy decided Melbourne wasn't quite for him, so took a road trip around the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide, along the way stopping off to explore;

7. Great Otway National Park - A really cool National park with hiking trails and waterfalls.

8. Twelve Apostles - A natural coastal rock formation

9. Adelaide - Jeremy spent a good few months here, working in a bar and doing some open mic nights and karaoke and things like that for them. He had a really good time here, met some cool people, had a lot of barbecues on the beach.

10. Kings Canyon - Before travelling home, Jeremy went inland. He went to Alice Springs and The Red Centre, and took guided walking tours of Aboriginal art and history in the region, and did painting workshops with local guides from the Southern Aranda people. He stargazed at night in remarkably clear skies and saw Uluru (but did NOT go climb there), and woke up in the desert. It was truly special.
