Ignore the fact that this isn't a fanfic blog. Or a Club Penguin blog (I'm not posting this on a fanfic site so I wanted to put this somewhere people could find it ^_^)

This is the story of a scientist, his assistant, and a machine that would change their lives – or, Skip and his no good very bad grandfather

A little backstory for Skip I came up with nine years ago. This is a new version of an old fanfic I wrote when I was 14! I've always loved this story so I wanted to write it again. I hope it gets to someone who might find it interesting ^_^

Could I request a Rookie x gender neutral reader, where the reader sees Rookie feeling sad, so they decided to comfort and put something on Rookies back, then every penguin hugs him, then Rookie tells the reader everything that happened, and all of the sudden, he feels something on his back and discovers a "Free Hugs" sign, and a love confession?

He messed up once again.

Rookie sat on the soft white sand at the beach, how could he mess up such an important mission! All he had to do was keep the dirty crab on its cage and now it’s gone because of him. How is he supposed to be a great director if he can’t even be a good agent. The soothing sea was the only thing that could calm his nerves, but he still was devastated.

Y/n was taking a short walk with their puffle around the town. When they arrived at the beach, they spotted a familiar green penguin who lazily playing on the sand. Smiling, they went over to greet him but suddenly felt something strange about him.

‘Rookie, hey! What are you doing here all alone on the beach?’ you asked softly, surprising him from his train of thought turning his attention on you. His body then relaxes after realizing it was you and your loyal puffle by your side.

‘Oh hi, I just, er… wanted to build myself a sandcastle.’ He said faking out a smile, his tone wasn’t its cheery self.

‘You… okay?’

‘Huh? What makes you think that? I’m perfectly fine, see!’ He smiled at you widely trying to prove that there’s nothing wrong. You studied him carefully until an idea popped to your mind.

‘Hey Rookie, you wouldn’t mind watching my puffle for a while? I won’t take long! It’ll be just for a few moments, I promise!’

Rookie chuckled a bit and nods, you hand him the red leash that was attached on your beloved pet and off you went. The green penguin went back in constructing his sandcastle when suddenly he felt a small nudge on his side, the puffle had a shovel on its mouth giving him a sign that it wanted to help finishing the castle. This made Rookie smile at the kind offer and gave the tiny puffle a few pats on its head.

When you finally came back from who knows where, you hid one flipper on your back as you got closer to Rookie. You smile at the adorable scene, seeing the two of them trying to finish and create a majestic sandcastle was simply beautiful.

‘Amazing you two!’ you cheered, giving Rookie a few pats on his back, ‘Thank you for watching over them. See you around Rook!’

Rookie stayed at the beach for a while until he decided it was time to get back to the facility, he didn’t want to face them, he feels so embarrassed for messing up their last mission, but he must do this. Teleporting himself at the building only to find it almost half empty.

‘Heya Rooks, glad to you see again! Ready to continue with the mission?’ He greeted by the puffle expert herself.

‘Mhmm, um, where’s the rest of the group?’

‘Ah yes, they are at the mountain. They found something suspicious up there. C’mon, help me take these boxes, asap! They are waiting for us!’

As Rookie turned to make his way, he heard a soft chuckle and felt a tap on his shoulder, when he turned around, he was engulfed into a hug, the puffle handler smiled at the young rookie before proceeding to pick up one of the boxes. Strange. Why would they give him a hug?

He was so confused and that went on during his short trip, many agents would give him friendly hugs, the little puffles would bounce on him snuzzling him with their furry faces, even JPG joined the bandwagon! Well, he more likely gave Rookie a few pats on his shoulder. All this kind gestures made the tiny penguin feel happy, his confidence that he once lost was back!

When the mission was finally finished, Ph wanted to treat Rookie for doing an incredible job at their mission, as they went on their way to the pizza parlor, they spotted y/n and their beloved puffle. Rookie excitedly called for them, his heart raced with joy.

‘Oh Rookie, glad to see you again! You look radiant!’

‘Y/n today was fantastic! Everyone was so kind to me! Oh, Me and Ph are heading to the pizza parlor, you should come with us!’

‘Oh me? I mean, yes sure! I would love to join!’ Y/n smiled sheepishly while rubbing the back of their neck; pink hue spread across their face.

As they went on their way to the pizza parlor, Rookie suddenly felt something itchy on his back. He stopped on his tracks as he tried to remove the object, in one swift motion he pulled out what looks like a piece of paper, the words “Hug me” was written on it. Rookie furrowed his brows, wondering how this paper ended up on his back. Just when he was about to throw it away, he noticed that there was something written on it.

‘Rookie,

If you were able to find this letter, I just wanted to thank you for caring at my puffle while I was away. When I saw you at the beach it pained me in seeing you at that state, so I decided to play an innocent prank just to see that smile on your face that I’ll never grow tired of.

I couldn’t find the right words, so I thought maybe actions speaks louder than words. I really wanted you to know that you’re special, there will never be a penguin who’s as sweet and loyal like you. Don’t forget that there are others who truly care about you.

This made Rookie smile widely, bringing the letter to his chest near his heart. Butterflies began to flutter on his stomach as he looks up at y/n as they converse with Ph. What is this pretty feeling? Rookie never experienced this before. It’s a strange feeling yet he’s willing to receive it with open arms.

About our project

Club Penguin Smile Team is an upcoming webcomic made by Noncandy (aka Jiuzi). Supposed to be the "20th anniversary project", It is in early development and is expected to release on 2025. It follows the adventures of four penguins trying to save the 20th Anniversary of Club Penguin Island and make the event more memorable. The webcomic will be hosted on Neocities using Rarebit.

It takes place in an alternate version of Club Penguin if it was never closed. Despite this, it was the just the same Club Penguin universe with the addition of brand new characters, places and other elements.

I will keep you updated via this page. However, please don't expect that I will always do, I mean, I have lots of work to do like upcoming school and tackling computer problems 😭

REVIEW + NOTES: initially I was going to do a big review on this but I didn’t have too many things to say about it. My partner was recently on a club penguin bender and we played it together a bit ago and I was inspired to read this because they’re on a trip right now and I miss them. They said that Gary the gadget guy reminded them of me so I took this in stride. It’s not terribly written, but I couldn’t imagine penguins doing this shit so I tried to just think that they’re human dudes but then it would talk about specific penguin anatomy and that ruined my vibe. But like it wasn’t terribly written and I’m used to the weird bird anatomy descriptions because of OK KO fanfiction that I have yet to make a review for. Also fair warning it says that it has gender neutral pronouns (which it does) but it like kinda insinuates female genitalia but doesn’t outright say it and I don’t know if it’s just talking about penguin genitalia because I know nothing about penguin biology. But like it isn’t too badly written it’s just weird but I had to finish the fic for like principal or something and I did so yay. Grammar wise it isn’t too bad but sometimes the sentences are clunky and the vibe gets thrown off. Also the part where the reader spaced out while Gary rambled about his gadgets is so unrealistic I space out a shit ton but I don’t when my partner goes on epic sexy rambles explaining shit I love it when they do that!!! real alphas listen intently!!!!!

FAVORITE LINE: with every thrust, you manage to moan out. "Fuck.. Gary.." (Gary is an objectively unmoanable name. It’s not hot to be named Gary at all.)

RATING: 3 out of 8 boxes to move

New concept design for our protagonist, Smith Miles!

I was not satisfied with the last time so I had to do it again, this time changing up some stuff. Most notably the penguin color. I always thought of em as green, but I chose the wrong color in the earlier concept. (Puffles Rocket and Eggy will stay the same!)

I originally wanted to ask ponies which design is better (I already did ask on Discord lol) but it was ultimately decided that I should go with this design. I think it looks perfect (took me a while to realize that) so I don't think I would ask for criticisms. :)

This could be eir final design. I'm too proud of that lol :3
