goro is born into the sport bc shido is like an intl tennis superstar but as with canon he dgaf about goro at all. his mom is dead too. etc. he probably never sees his dad except on tv and hes probably tossed around various boarding schools/tennis camps/etc so goro strives to become even BETTER of a player than his dad so 1) shido looks at him and acknowledges him and respects him 2) he can SURPASS him. thats his entire goal. anyway he prob shoulders huge expectations like oh thats ur dad so u must be a good player right and then those expectations he inflcits on himself.

sumire picks up tennis maybe around age 9-10 or so, when before that she did rhythmic gymnastics with kasumi. but even from an early age she was discontented by how Good kasumi was, almost intrinsically, and she had a gut feeling that made her switch tracks to tennis - also a sort of independent sport where SHE HERSELF can succeed on the court, without needing to depend on others. yet she still feels pressured by kasumi's success which gets in her way a lot. she feels determined to carve a name for herself bc THIS is the path she chose, so she better fucking make it count. those expectations on herself weigh heavily as well. in addition i think her parents literally dont gaf like if she becomes an intl superstar (not maliciously they just genuinely want sumire to be happy and dont demand success of her) but she kinda is like "wow they dont expect anything of me because im bad at it? then ill just have to become AMAZING so theyll have to be astounded" kinda thing

meanwhile akira was always a sporty/athletic kid, he doesnt have much attn from his parents so hes just doing whatever. soccer baseball basketball the works. but he picks up tennis at maybe age 13 and hes GOOD. so he immediately gets like scouted and Trained and he like improves in record time. hes real chill and relaxed about it though because he never Needed tennis the way sumire and goro do. hes just out here for fun and games literally. if he wins he wins - but the thing is, akira kurusu hates losing. thats the thing that propels him to the top.

shujin academy is still the same private school we know but they also house a tennis academy known as the shujin tennis academy yeah yeahyaeeayhah and they just train the coolest of players and the royal trio r their pride and joy etc

It was ringing. The loud sound of the music bombing against your earbuds and people punching each other to get inside the club made you a little too alert. It had been your idea really. To come clubbing, in a pathetic attempt to numb the feeling inside your chest due to your breakup. You had exaggerated your makeup, done your hair nicely, asked your nail tech to give your hands a second life and your short dress glued to your curve like a glove.

You were self conscious. But at this particular moment, you would have traded your soul with the devil if it meant to feel anything but the hurt that was consuming your being. Your friend had warned you, this club was different, it wasn't the type of club one would come to just have fun.

You knew it. Yet, you wanted to know what it felt like to go hell and back. 

“Are you sure you wanna do this, y/n?” 

Your friend yelled at your ear which only made you laugh. You had drowned your 3 shots in less than half an hour, still not tipsy enough to join the crowd dancing. Laying before you on the countertop, was your half drunken drink, vodka with coke if you remembered well. What you hadn’t expected was the bartender to slip in front of you what seemed to be a yellow pill with a smiley face on it. A pill of ecstasy. 

Honestly, if anyone said to you that you would one day be in one of Itaewon's most renowned nightclubs, drinking to your heart’s content and getting high, you would have laughed at their face.

But shit happens. And right now, your heart was too broken, too foul to even rationalize the danger of your actions. No, you weren’t sure. Probably mixing alcohol and this type of stimulant was a terrible idea, but you were past the curiosity. You just wanted the pain to stop. As long as you could numb these feelings on your chest and forget about that prick that broke your heart, you would be fine.

“C’mon, don’t think I would puss out of this!” you said with a loud voice, almost like you were trying to reassure yourself. The music was resonating loudly, the atmosphere of the club humid and thick in smoke. The scent of alcohol and cigarettes was heavy, it made your eyes cry but it also emptied your mind of any feeling. 

Without a second thought you popped the pill inside your mouth, using the vodka to wash it away. Your face scrunched at the bitter taste before you yelled in excitement. Taking your friend by her arms you dragged her to the dance floor ready to allow your mind to turn into nothing putty. 

“Hey, are you sure you are alright?” Your friend asked, their worried features making you want to get violent. You hated when people took pity on you.

“I am fine, geez stop asking and just let me have fun!”

“Fine, just don’t get yourself in trouble!”

You ignored them, proceeding with your sloppy and most certainly, embarrassing dance moves. The music was loud, the beat hitting your eardrums as you danced to the sound, laughing. Sticky bodies danced around you, and you tried to blend in with their mouvements, allowing yourself to release the pressure on your shoulders. You could feel the effects of ecstasy hitting your body. You felt lighter, not worried about the thoughts of others. It felt euphoric. You closed your eyes, allowing the music to take possession of your body as you moved without a care of the world. 

Feeling a soft hand on your smaller back, you open your eyes. Behind you, a young man stood there, his light brown hair falling gently over his eyes. He looked amused by you, a soft smile on his lips as he leaned into your ear.

“Sorry, but you have been sticking on me.” 

“I was?” You asked, turning around to face him before leaning to answer, talking over the music. He smelled like vanilla. “Sorry about that”

“It’s fine,” The stranger boy said, locking eyes with you for a moment, before adding “You okay?”

“Shit, yeah sorry!” you said, almost stumbling on your own feet. His hands gripped your waist tighter, not allowing you to fall. “What’s your name?” You asked, obvious of his actions, your own brain functioning way slower than usual. 

The boy smiled wide. “Sunghoon”

“Well, Sunghoon, you are gorgeous!”

“And you are drunk” 

You shrugged, not caring. In another context you would have been ashamed of yourself and ask forgiveness for your shameless behavior, but with the drug in your system you couldn't care less. You felt way too satisfied. 

“Sunghoon, wanna dance with me?”

You asked, grabbing the boy by the collar of his white shirt. He didn't struggle, instead he offered you a nod, his hands lazily going to your hips, without putting much pressure in case you changed your mind. 

You smirked, the foreign feeling of having someone else touching you, making you elated. Dancing with Sunghoon proved to be way easier than what you thought. Wrapping your arms around his neck, you swung your body left and right at the rhythm of the music. He followed your movements easily, a little smile plastered on his face. 

His eyes watched you attentively and you grinned. This was so much easier when the drug and alcohol were in your system and you didn't care about the dumbass of your ex anymore. Your heart felt light and for a moment, you wanted nothing more but to enjoy this. You felt Sunghoon’s lips travel close to your neck, without totally touching you. The ghosting feeling makes you tighten your grip around him. 

“Stop teasing me”

You groaned, pulling yourself closer to him, directing his face to your own lips. The kiss was subtle, yet needy. Sunghoon wasted no time in licking your bottom lip before slipping his tongue inside your mouth. The sinful sound you made was muffled by the loud music in the background, your bodies still moving together.

You kissed him back, until you were forced to break apart from the lack of air. You licked your lips flashing him a smile before you turned your body around. This time, Sunghoon’s hands gripped your waist firmly as your body grinned against his, your hips moving sensually against his bulge. You couldn’t hear him but you felt his body rigid against yours. This felt way more nice than what you were expecting.

“What’s your name?” Sunghoon asked, his hot breath against your ear making you shiver. You turned your head slightly to answer him

“Y/n” 

He hummed in response, capturing your lips in the process. The kiss was slower, more passionate and wet. He moved his tongue slowly against yours, his hands shamelessly traveling from your exposed thigh, up to your waist. You could feel everything, from his breath and his taste and it was driving you crazy. You needed more. You needed him more, that was a certainty. 

“Wanna go somewhere quieter?” Sunghoon asked against your lips, planting a few light ones along between his words. 

You agreed with a nod of your head. Parting away from you, Sunghoon held your hand before pulling you away from the dancefloor. At this point, you didn't even remember your friend and honestly, you didn't care at all. The people started to be less and less, and the moment you got more air to breathe, you felt your legs weak. A crashing wave of sickness making your body shiver in cold sweat.

“Hey, you okay?” Sunghoon asked as you both reached the bottom of the staircases, that led you to the lounge. It was not a private space, but it provided comfort for those who needed a breath from the euphoria happening downstairs. You nodded your head. “Yea, I just want you” You murmured, trying to reach on your tiptoes to kiss him. When your lips were on his earlier, you didn’t feel this awful. Sunghoon leaned down, kissing you once again. The kiss was this time softer, almost caring and you felt your whole body shake in need. Or perhaps it was the effects of alcohol and drugs finally catching you up for your mistakes. 

When he broke apart again, Sunghoon helped you up the stairs until you both reached the lounge. His hands were still on your body, leading you to one of the empty red couches. When you finally sat down, you felt your head turning, the dizzy feeling making you nauseous. You felt Sunghoon sit next to you, but you could barely see him. The strong scent of vanilla was the only thing stopping you from dripping into unconsciousness. 

“You okay?” Sunghoon asked once again, his hand on your exposed thigh burning your skin. His voice was worried, but when looking at his face, you couldn't even process his facial expression. You nodded, your hands searching for his warmth as you tried to pull him into yet, another kiss. His lips moved gracefully against your, and you were aware of how pathetic you might look, the boiling feeling reaching your stomach.

A bad trip? you thought. The drug was making you feel sick, and even the sweet taste of sunghoon wasn’t erasing that unsettling feeling of guilt inside your mind. Your 3 years relationship had just finished and you were coping miserably. Instead of facing your emotions, you were in a club drugged, drunk and kissing this nice stranger. 

You wanted to throw up. No, you didn't have the energy for that, you were just feeling yourself slip away. Were you going to die in the arms of a stranger?

Sunghoon pulled away, his gaze watching you. You faintly noticed his seriousness. His hand caressed your cheek and you felt your skin wet. Were you crying? 

“You lied, you are not fine. You are terrified.”

The graveness of his voice made you break. Without controlling your body anymore, you sobbed in shame, hiding your face in your hands. Sunghoon gently held you, pulling you close to his body. 

“I don’t want to die. But I feel like I am dying, why everything hurt so much”

“It 's okay.. I am here.”

Sunghoon held you, the warmness of his body calming the waves of shivers running down your spine. This was beyond sad. Grinding on a stranger and crying on his arms like you have known him all your life. 

“I wanted to feel heaven. But why am I feeling like hell?.”

“Y/n?, hey y/n”

The sound of Sunghoon’s voice became muffled, as if he was meters away from you. The lights were getting dim and you felt your ears rigging. And then, nothing. The darkness you had tried to run away from, crawling back to you and swallowing you whole.  

You were finally doing it. Going to Heaven and back.

"pavs and sons" → this is our top line that consists of jason robertson (21 / "robo"), roope hintz (24 / some call him "roop", his finnish nickname is "hine"), and joe pavelski (16 / "pavs"). pavs spent over a decade in san jose and was the sharks' captain during essentially their twilight years, and he came to dallas intending to retire (which is likely to happen at the end of this year tbh) but instead revitalized a distinct second phase of his career after being placed on a line with 2124 in 2020-21, unexpectedly becoming stalwart producers for a struggling dallas stars offense (2 words: rick bowness) — robo was only in his first year with the stars and roope's career was not that much older, hence the nickname pavs and sons; although pavs is only an alternate captain because the stars already have a very established, homegrown captain, he is basically treated as our second captain thanks to his age and the vast influence he has over both our young players & the locker room as a whole :') one of his nicknames is also captain america from representing team usa on the intl stage LOL.

raising johnny -> our team's ACTUAL baby is 2003-born wyatt johnston (53 / "johnny" but sometimes we use "wyjo" lol), who was in the ohl before the 2022-23 season but managed to impress during training camp and basically forced his way onto the roster (without getting too much into it, 18-19 y/o rookies can play 9 games with the big club before burning a year off their elc, so being from the ohl at his age his only options were basically Be In The NHL Permanently or go back to ontario.) because "HE (WAS) ONLY 19!!!" and there was some uncertainty about whether he'd stay up, pavelski invited him to live at his place with his wife and teenaged-son, and now a second year into his career wyatt is STILL with them because he loves it there so much lol. the stars frequently joke about pavs being his dad/landlord, and we've gotten a ton of fun content like these quest for the stanley cup clips and other interview moments like this, this, and this.

fostering stank(s) -> logan stankoven (11 / "stank" though you will also see "stanks") is our other baby and a very recent addition to our nhl roster; he's from the same draft class as johnny, but spent last season in the whl and therefore was eligible to go to the ahl this year, where he's been cooking up a storm for half the szn. it was pretty inevitable that he'd come up at SOME point, but the perfect opportunity arrived after one of our forwards got injured and he was slotted in on short notice. like johnny, he has basically forced his way onto the team permanently by immediately performing to (and well-beyond) standard :') the fun part is that he stayed with johnny at pavs's house when he first came to dallas, though he's since moved out and found his own place... nevertheless, this was still very sweet because logan & wyatt have GENUINE history from knowing each other half their lives & winning gold for u18 team canada in 2021, and have since picked their immediate chemistry right back up on the stars's 3rd line together. (more on this later!!!)

resident glueguy tydel + otter's son -> u know how every team needs its emotional support 4th liner who is at constant threat of being dumped at trade deadline? ty dellandrea (10 / "delly" but we like "tydel" as well) is our 13oa pick who never really panned out as expected, but he's still crucial to the overall health of the locker room and beloved by many. as a small piece of the Cycle Of Mentorship that the stars subscribe to, pavs is known for basically being a deflection master and a menace in front of the net and has passed on this propensity to a lot of younger stars by doing targeted practice sessions with them, including tydel. anyway delly's lore in general is just INSANEEE because he's at the center of the stars' social fabric in a lot of ways. happily third-wheels along with the wags, gets along with the 279195 canadian slagline who mostly exist outside of any family narratives, is Publicly Liked By Roope which is kind of weird because outside of cellys roop practices jane austen levels of finnish repression, imprinted on johnny hard last year (JOINED HIM ON PAVELSKI FAMILY NIGHTS) (from this devastating webweave), has SOOO much ahl history with otter to the point that otter's baby brother sees ty as part of the family — this is also where otter saying that he and his girlfriend saw ty as their son when he stayed at their apartment during training camp comes from. which is genuinely like Absurd Things to say because jake oettinger (29 / "otter") (as a completely random aside, please look at this gifset of harls wearing otter's shirt) is ONLY 2 YEARS OLDER THAN DELLY. LIKE THE FUCK D'YOU MEAN YOUR SON???

jbenn / "daddy" line dads -> so the stars' real captain is jamie benn (14 / multiple nicknames but "chubbs" is a signature), whoooo is a quite the contentious figure amongst stars fans but as a 2007 draftee is very much a homegrown player and still quite important to the organization. i'm ngl, stars rpf is a VERY small space nowadays in hockey fandom, but ~back in the day~ he and tyler seguin were one of The Big Ships before slowly fading as both fandom figures & stars of the team thanks to age and injury and [waves hand vaguely]. anyway while the top line on the stars has remained *mostly* set since robo was called up, the 2nd & 3rd lines still experience a decent amount of reshuffling, so wyatt is kind of jamie's fixed line son atp but they also played with tydel before we 1:1 swapped some russians and evgenii dadonov (63 / the "DADDY" in question) came in and replaced delly. so now we've had multiple "benn and sons" lines (jamie + wyatt/delly, now jamie + wyatt/logan ❗️), plus essentially a "wyatt and dads" line (wyatt + jamie/daddy) lmfao.

wedge raising harls -> robo's emotional support backup goalie is scott wedgewood (41 / "wedge" or "wedgie"), who as far as backup goalies go is like shockingly well-integrated into the stars' locker room. the piece of lore that inspired this WHOLE post is that taylor dropped an article on how wedge claimed to basically be RAISING HARLS WITH HIS (recently-married!) WIFE...??? which is just. thomas harley (55 / "harls") is one of our resident baby d-men and was in and out of the ahl for a while but has been Officially with the stars since last years' playoffs... he's a very like, self-assured but kind of introverted, Beyond-His-Years type who literally has the voice of a 50 y/o, so it's both DEVASTATING and hilarious 2 me that wedge is like "oh, this 22 y/o kid likes to show up to my house every day and me and my wife are teaching him how to cook and he keeps facetiming me to ask random questions about his bills." LIKE OH... OKAY THEN ;___;

& last but not least: the ultimate Mini Family on this team that i didn't mention in my orig post is actually the finnish mafia — see robo constantly joking about them being brothers and loving each other lol. finnmaf currently includes four players (roope, miro, esa, jani... rip kivo 😔), and they kind of help split the stars' locker room into several groups including the finns, the ontario guys, robo's goaliefucker / Nerd_Collector ensemble, and... well honestly the cliques overlap a lot (which is why our locker room is so healthy!!!) but you get the idea.

there is soooo much other lore i could get into that isn't really related to dad/son/brother narratives but i feel like this is enough of an infodump so i'll stop here for now. in general the way the stars are constructed makes it really clear why they all see one another as family and why there is such a strong & positive & sustainable sense of personal leadership that permeates the locker room... benn handles Official captain duties while pavs uses his experience not to usurp him but simply to further support him in understated areas of mentorship/leadership, and our top line consists of 3 Very unassuming & responsible player archetypes which crucially trickles down to all the other lines. so while many teams have their Old Guys (who are often on a noticeable decline) and Kid Lines, the stars are cool because we've been successful at integrating young players with very established veterans and having them feed off of each other without sacrificing their development or "anchoring" any young talent unnecessarily; benn is really not the player he used to be but he's still been great with wyatt over the past 2 years. and pavs IS a total anomaly, so it's kind of insane & surreal that a guy in his late 30s can perform at such a high level while also taking it upon himself to prepare so many of our young guys to be the present & future of our team *__*

my top albums of 2010.. as i’d have picked them in 2010

2010 was a p significant year for my music taste - it's when i got into a few bands that rly defined my teenage years, like panic! at the disco and the wombats, and even the cure, who are still my fav band now 😧

unfortunately, my music taste still wasn't quite broad enough for me to actually pick 9 albums from 2010 i was into in 2010 😅 so i had to embellish a bit, and pick albums from 3 artists (best coast, darwin deez + the young veins) that i didn't actually get into until 2011 to fill out the list 🤔 oh well!!

if you mean overall, then yeah maybe but the girls looked so exhausted and they also have to report to camp either tomorrow or tuesday so it's nice they have some time to relax and recover. maybe the club has more planned after intl break!
