actually obsessed with Athena and Apollo’s entire dynamic btw though like. they can switch from mercilessly dunking on each other to giving each other very sincere emotional support in literal seconds. the first interaction they ever have is her throwing a cop at him. AA5’s overarching narrative is told almost entirely through the framing device of Athena reflecting on how they became friends in the first place. they get given a scroll with a drawing of two yokai on it as evidence in the murder they’re investigating, and immediately start debating which one would win in a fight. he watches the same video about her current hyperfixation with her five times on loop. he has to talk her out of kicking down a metal door. they’ve held hands onscreen twice. he starts telling her about the gore in a manga he read once, in excruciating detail, within less than an hour of meeting her. she asks him to tie her up to prove a point and he ties the rope in a decorative bow. he has a complete nervous breakdown over the prospect of not being able to trust her or keep her in his life. she is very aware that he’s having the breakdown but blames it on a jacket. they’re on opposing sides of Ladder v. Stepladder. he asks her to punch him. she asks him to rip out a handful of their boss’s hair. they once got into a custody battle over a stray cat. and like that’s just off the top of my head

first and khaotung have somehow got the whole silently asking for a kiss thing down to a T - when you’re a couple you don’t usually ask with words but also you’re not actually connected by a script running in your heads. So for the vast majority of the time kissing is like one person wants to kiss or bring a moment to a close with a kiss and has to make some sort of kissy face and there’s this fraction of a second delay for the other person to be like ‘oh! I guess it’s happening now!! muah muah!’

and in both ep 8 and 9 first has initiated the kiss with khaotung having that 0.3 second delay before going in. I know a lot of the beach stuff was improv and it’s not like I’ve heard anything specific about the kisses but god either way why do they kiss like that please kiss like you’ve got a script running in your head I am WEAK and UNWELL

Every time Buggy and Shanks do something incredibly stupid, Rayleigh feels it in some parental way. At first it was when they were little and Rayleigh wasn't around, but as soon as he felt that strange sensation he would immediately start looking for them and would find them in the most ridiculous, possibly dangerous situations.

The thing is, it stayed with him even when Baby Blue and Baby Red became adults. He's just sitting at the bar drinking his booze like he always does and then he stops for a few seconds and goes "Damn... Buggy's doing it again...."

If I were in Christopher's shoes, and Joker just brought my soul from the depths of hell to revive me and be free to pursue my life goal again, and in return he asked me to be his playmate/companion/friend in this dramatically sensual way in the rain, I would completely rethink my sexuality, my heart would be already in his hands for him to tear it apart, i would bite my lips to not moan, and my highly death-driven ass would say yes without a second's hesitation 😭

I want Shanks to apologize to Buggy, not because of not chasing the One Piece right away, but for not reaching out to him when Buggy ran away.

There are so many things involved in their separation and Buggy resents him (unfairly, sometimes, but validly enough if you think about his situation) for stuff other than not stopping him. But that's the one thing Shanks could do to save them and he didn't because he viewed Buggy's rejection as plain hatred and he didn't want to get in the way of his decision.

But! His decision was to be with Shanks, and idiotically enough, Shanks didn't see it. Because they were both stupid impulsive teenagers with so much grief to deal with and nobody to tell them what they were supposed to do.

Buggy ran away despite wanting to stay by Shanks' side because he didn't fully understand his decision and jumped to conclusions. And Shanks didn't stop him because he thought Buggy wanted him to respect his decision.

So yes, I want Shanks to apologize to Buggy for not seeing what was right in front of him but I'm sure that even if Buggy doesn't apologize for his impulsive behavior and unfair resentment (he's too proud for that) just making amends with Shanks would be enough for both.

why do you not like it when your writing exceeds the targeted word count? 😭

there's a few reasons 😔

it's so much work. I can't even explain how soul crushing it is for me to write 10k words and then revise all of them to be acceptable quality to post. it actually leads to severe burnout for me sometimes OTL

longer fics do worse on tumblr. the more words I write for a fic, the fewer people will read it. which is fine LOL like people can read whatever they want, but it does make me a little sad sometimes!

with how I am as a writer, the longer a story is, the more emotionally complex it becomes, which becomes exhausting for me to write and exhausting for others to read. I really wish I could write something fun and horny for once that everyone can enjoy. but I just can't do it for some reason 😓

I feel like I failed as a writer. I couldn't create a vision and execute it faithfully 💀

it becomes apparent how much I want to fuck that 2D man. it's truly humbling. I wrote 16k words for shin in the span of a month like everyone can tell I want to fuck him so bad it's making me look stupid 😔 someone please free me.......

all in all though it's not that serious LOL hence I try to make a joke out of it

Just wanna go on record and say that in spite of the fact i clown on Adam & will continue to do so, with great enthusiasm, I genuinely really love his route.

Each route is clearly meant to fit a different trope/vibe and they all have varying levels of angst.

Nate/Nat feels the most like a classic romance story out of the four vampires. This aspect is mentioned both by the detective & other characters in the books. Course N has their secrets that will come into play later.

Felux/Farah has that delicious "I'm dating my bestfriend" feeling. I play their route when I wanna have fun with someone so open. But it's clear there's a hidden depth to them.

Mason/Morgan is that initially unapproachable "doesn't do commitment" type and part of that appeal is getting to see those layers beyond the surface. M may not be good with words but their actions speak volumes.

Now onto the main point, Adam/Ava is that slow burn back & forth, hot & cold "this will hurt for awhile" type of route. Their feelings are so obvious but a combination of trauma, fear and their own stubbornness means they aren't gonna just go for it.

And the best part? The fact they're doing the thing they're trying to avoid gets addressed. It's not just a "Oh yeah this attitude is clearly hurting A & the detective but we're not gonna say anything". The detective can call A out as can other members of unit bravo. No matter who the detective's bestfriend is they make it clear to A that "Hey you're my friend to and I love ya but I'm not gonna let you keep pulling this shit. 😠".

It's gonna be so interesting to see how things play out in book 4. Drama is gonna be insane. 🤣
