And this, along with some meta chats I've had with @logicheartsoul have formed 😂 a very long soulmates AU that I hope y'all will enjoy that's also inspired by the "Moment of Realization" prompt from @sambuckylibrary's Summer Bingo 2023 event. Summary: Bucky Barnes can see numbers on people's hands. He doesn't know why he can or what they mean, but he can see them. And he sees the numbers on both his hand and Sam's start to tick down the moment he steals that steering wheel from Sam.

Bucky felt a delirious sense of déjà vu suddenly pulling a steering wheel from someone’s car. Someone with eyes like a sunset afterglow on an Onyx Odyssey Hellebore. Rich mahogany brown skin. Mesmerizing gap in his teeth. Screaming like Bucky just tore a steering wheel off mid-drive. Other people in the car. Also screaming. Was that Stevie? And Bucky would focus on one of these things. He would ask what he was doing with a steering wheel in his hands or why Stevie was in this car or who the hell this heaven-sent glad lad was, but Bucky wasn’t pulled from whatever haze he had been in just because of a memory about his adrenaline junkie, snake charmer of a mother. No. Bucky was pulled out of his haze because he felt it. A number forming on the back of his hand. A number which immediately started to tick down.

I really liked drawing the pachyrhinosaurus in the opening of Chaos Theory, even though a lot of this section had to be rewritten and reworked after I rolled onto my next episode.

The second drawing of the pachyrhino zeroing in on Mike always got a laugh out of everyone

After revisiting your "came back wrong" comic, absolutely wonderful btw, I came to a rather haunting realization.

Because it became true. But instead of Bloodmoon, it's Eclipse. And that's both much worse(for the characters), and much better(for the narrative).

Because both him and Lunar went through the same, and in a way seem to parallel each other, though that's probably me overthinking.

Both of them died. Both of them were blown to smithereens. Both of them came back after several months. Both found themselves in a body not their own. We've seen what they look like in every other universe.

Both of them came back wrong.

Lunar came back numb, quieter than before, with all their energy being a play. He came back running from unknown danger. They died a normal animatronic, and came back being more.

Eclipse is the opposite. He came back louder, erratic, full of madness. Where Lunar is running from unknown danger, he is sprinting towards it, not realizing the consequences until it's to late. Not to forget the star. Eclipse died being somewhat of a god, and came back as nothing more than a plaything, a puppet on a string.

In a twist of fate, they can relate best to each other now, and that might be the worst part for both of them.

Because what is there to do? Even though they understand, even though, one day, they might glance at each other and wonder "Do you feel the same?", they will never be able to confide in each other. Their relationship is beyond repair, and for good reason. Eclipse hurt Lunar, used and ab*sed him, and then blew him up.

This also opens up so much emotional baggage. What will Lunar think? Will he wonder "Do you regret what you did now, knowing how it felt?" Will a part of him feel the smallest bit of satisfaction? Will they ever be able to look at him at all, or will they forever hide away?

What about Eclipse? Will he feel guilty? He seems aware of the damage he has caused the celestial twins, even telling Ruin that he deserves what's coming for him, but he still showed no remorse when he talked to them.

I'm sorry this got so long, I am incredibly emotional about this right now, and I can't even begin to describe, how this makes me feel-

this is what I've learned about the practice of politics over the past 8 years:

the time for talking about abstract political ideals is during the primary.

after the primary, the die has been cast, and your two choices are there whether you like them or not. your practical political responsibility still exists. any choice that seems to lie outside the two candidates is an illusion. to cast a vote for a third party or to not vote at all is still, practically speaking, a choice for one of the two main candidates.

furthermore, you are not voting for the candidates as people, you are voting for them as policy. voting for a person is a luxury most countries don't have anymore. you think Canadian Christian voters ever get a truly Christian ticket on either side? Norwegian Christians? Japanese Christians? America might still be able to vote for people in the primaries, but we don't have that luxury in the general election. the general election is about policy, and the candidates are only pieces in a larger game of chess.

the only thing that would persuade me NOT to vote for Trump this time around is if he had the exact same policy platform as Kamala Harris. if Trump ran on all of Harris' policies except for immigration, I would still vote for Trump, because it's materially worse for my family, friends, and neighbors to allow illegal immigration than to stop it. and as a voter, I have the power to stop it.

I don't give a flip about DM ships but I am profoundly tired of how debates about them make it harder and harder to just engage holistically with the story and characters.

I'm tired of Marcille's friendship with Laios being deemphasized for both Falin/Marcille AND Kabru/Laios

I'm tired of seeing the whole main party's love for each other downplayed, actually! And of course I'm extra tired of Izutsumi being left out of the conversation in particular because she isn't shipped with anyone.

I'm tired of seeing views of Kabru slowly split down the middle between "his relationship with Laios is more important" and "his relationship with Mithrun is more important" instead of letting him interact with multiple people on multiple levels.

For that matter I'm also tired of seeing people downplay Rin and Kabru. I know she's not a major character in the story I know she doesn't really interact with the plot & doesn't influence his growth but she's his FRIEND dammit he cares about her

I'm tired of Chimera Falin being seen primarily through the lens of being hot to Marcille

I am tired of people either softening rough edges of relationships and characters OR hyperbolically overstating them.

I'm tired of seeing personal preference or discomfort treated like canon preference and discomfort.

I'm also tired of how tired it's making other people! Shit's exhausting and it sucks to see people focus so much on defending their opinions that they stop talking about things for their own sake and focus more and more about talking about them in comparison to what they don't like.

I dunno. It's sucks. It sucks to read DM and feel like almost every character clashes and then comes together in a way that makes them better. It sucks to find a story with so much love and such a well built story where every single relationship is necessary to reach the conclusion - where almost every permutation of characters has something to it that feels real and alive and compelling - and see it reduced to arguments about which love is better, actually.
