Is there a good post outlining all the evidence against Gaiman? I know the podcast has it and that's what people pointed to me, but considering it has been days I was wondering if someone had gathered it all into seperate post so one does not have to listen to someone advertising their work every few minutes in order to listen to the important parts.

Belatedly (given that at least three other women have accused him since my post), there are some. The best of the original ones is probably "Manufacturing Consent" by Annabel Ross, but there are also transcriptions of the original accusations that, iirc, weed out some of the editorializing and focus on the raw material (which is, just be warned, very raw).

This (long) thread provides the important links in terms of the accusations conveyed by Tortoise, I think (a more to-the-point list is here at muccamukk's Dreamwidth account). I included the long thread because I'm in strong agreement with the final person in the chain that, Tortoise's many failings notwithstanding, they provided enough evidence for the SF/F community to judge and respond more appropriately than with a collective blanket of silence punctuated by occasional cavalier or desperate dismissals of the accusers, before the other accusations broke.

In all honesty, I'm pretty appalled by the idea that, well, now there's enough to start talking about it with a modicum of decency and respect but wasn't before, because apparently it was okay to use trans people (who had nothing to do with any of this) to justify defending a cis guy beloved of fandom from very thorough rape accusations.

I particularly feel this way about the parts of the community dedicated to publicizing news and major ongoing discussions that simply said and did nothing. Scalzi's "I'm horrified, might take awhile to process, here's a link to RAINN" personal statement was fine (Vernon's wasn't), and I don't think every random author was obligated to make their own statement as such. But spaces that exist specifically for covering ongoing discussions and news in the SF/F community not saying anything at all—even that the allegations existed—was far worse and really disheartening. So I wanted to link to a discussion that acknowledges how very few people lived up to their stated principles when there was solid evidence against an influential, popular man in their own circles who knows the right catchphrases and terminology.

I was particularly unimpressed with Mike Glyer's handling of discussion at File 770 and, as far as I could tell, Tor only acknowledging the whole thing on their German-language site. The German article seems to be very good, but ... they're based in NYC and Gaiman is an English-language writer, why was their only commentary for weeks shunted away from the English site? US law should absolutely cover acknowledging the existence of the accusations.

There was, let's say, a lot of disappointment to go around, so I'm also grateful for the other women who kept the ball rolling, awful as it is that they a) had similar experiences and b) had to reveal those to get the whole thing taken seriously.

i was scared to post caleana. it’s a fic that holds truths about myself which even i am sometimes scared to confront, as it’s (very loosely) based on real events. but it was met with what was the most heartwarming reaction to any of my writing ever. over the last few days ive returned to read those comments and reblogs over and over, making me crack a smile everytime.

so to everyone in this fandom, everyone who’s ever given my writing the time of day to read or like: thank you. from the bottom of my soul. i love being here. i love interacting with all of you, reading your wonderful musings, looking at beautiful pieces of artwork. i love this fandom.

thank you, again and again and again. for making the story of an aromantic listener feel special. for making me feel special. for giving space for that fic.

Artbook stuff : more devnotes about characters!

This time, Hodrick and Clive (tfw i forgot them), Rolf, Sharon and Ochlys!

Hodrick's the archetype "armor knight", supposed to be a shield.

For the devs, having a square face meant being a defense oriented unit? His convos depict him as a troublemaker in his youth, but also as someone who wants to be a good role model for Alain (even to lighten his mood!), a model knight AND raked by guilt over his failure to protect queen Ilenia and having been possessed by Zenoira!

For what he is supposed to be, Lil'Hod is more polished than what his role and "earlygame armor" status implied.

Bonus points for his badass battle line against Hodor (even in a flashback!), even if it comes from someone who cannot damage for shit against, well, one of the units who has the highest attack stat in the game lol

Clive (tfw I forgot him earlier) is also a take on the "first knight who joins the Lord" early in the game - I wonder if his winking portrait was added to make him look "cool"? Granted, he's also the character who explains to Alain what was the Cornia he was supposed to rule over, gives some exposition about Gerard and hereditary monarchy and ultimately develops a bit more - than another game I've played some years ago - about feudalism, aka knights being minor nobles bound to other, higher nobles, while musing about his father's sacrifice and playing with the higher Cornian themes : should a lord prioritise his people or his ideal?

Ah, Rolf!

NGL, his color scheme reminded me of a certain character who's also an archer - but fwiw, I haven't done a lot of rapport conversations with him. He's close to Auch though, so it was nice to see their bond depicted in the cover of this artbook.

Plot wise, his history is simple enough, he protects a village from bandits and we help him in one the very first maps of the game. Fun fact, he has a support with Gammel - the bandit who was attacking his village - if we recruit him.

Sharon is the first cleric we recruit - her church is attacked by bandits (the same group who attacked Rolf's village). I feel like the devs lampshaded her 'kind/gentle" personality with the "visit every church of the continent" sidequest to fulfill the promise she made to the sister who saved her when she was a child.

It's also a nice nod to the greater plot, Sharon prays for the souls of the deceased... isn't it, in a smaller scale, what the Sanctuaries are supposed to do?

Ochlys is the first Feathered unit we can recruit !

The contrast with her "feathered/angelic" features and her vindicative and rash behavior was noteworthy enough in her Gammel rapport (he was the bandit who attacked her church after all!) and, even if it is played for laughs, in her Sanatio support (where they both look ridiculous).

I don't have a lot to say about Ochlys tbh, but gameplay wise, she's a nice crutch sort of "prepromote" unit, even if I find it a bit sad that she doesn't have plot or even subplot lines in the Albion chapters...
