"I don't think so, I had to fight people," she said, remembering how hard she tried not to kill someone - hurt maybe, but she could never live with herself if she took a life. And maybe that's what made he ra failure in their eyes, who knew? "I ran"
his tongue presses flat against the roof of his mouth, but ed lets her touch his face. fingers would have been bitten off on anyone else. would hers grow back? for once, he doesn't want to think about it. "maybe they let you go, too." it doesn't make sense, but he's never known anything about that. all he has with him is instinct and conditioning. "how did you get here?"

She didn't know what he was but she found herself at a loss for words. "You're beautiful," she whispered, eyes practically glittering as she looked at him. "What are you? If you don't mind me asking, obviously. The word is on the tip of my tongue but I can't get it out"
maybe it's better not to know what you're missing. everything about the world seems dull and lifeless in comparison to what he had seen before. the worst part is that he can't even remember it properly. like this, it's like every thought he has is doomed to be in black and white. sunk into a fog, it's all fins can do to just slump against the wall. normally, he would be more concerned about scaring someone. what does it matter? people are scared whether he's concerned about it or not. "i feel like that too," he says, sighing... and unable to see that she's in a similar boat.

"That's sad, I hope I'm not," he said, genuinely meaning it. He knew what it was like to not be heard and he wouldn't wish that upon even his worst enemy. "I dunno, I'm leaning towards the crazy eyes" he joked
"i don't know, i don't see any crazy look in your eyes, myself. maybe it's just that i'm not a conspiracy theorist." his dad had always tried to warn him against that kind of thinking. of course, nobody is immune. "or... maybe it's just because you're the only one who wants to hear them out."

It caught him off-guard for just a brief moment that there was a polar bear standing in front of him before he remembered that mutants came in all shapes and sizes. "Oh, this?" he asked as he materialized a ball of darkness in his hand, "inspired? How so?"
she watches with dark eyes narrowed, taking in the threads of light warping around the little ball of shadow in his hand. how curious. being perfectly happy to ignore his self-talk, kali is amused when he stops to apologize. "don't stop on my account. actually, if you wouldn't mind... would you do that again? i want to make sure i remember it right. i'm a painter," she explains, sitting back on her haunches. "i think you might have just inspired my next piece."

'Sure you haven't,' she replied with narrowed eyes, visibly calling him out on his bluff. 'The mountains? No, I haven't. I'll hold you to that though' she nodded, the thought of going over them intriguing for her
another low, raspy laugh rumbles through his chest. none, i promise. at least not with me. if anyone has fallen, i've never heard about it. the only drops that happen are... well, on purpose. but that's not something she needs to worry about—those people aren't attached to him. i could take you over the mountains. have you ever seen them before?

"And don't forget that," she pointed to him with a wink, enjoying this far too much. Was she the best pool player out there? Far from it, but there were rare moments when her subpar pool skills actually worked. "Probably something fruity," she hummed before turning to him, "what do you want?"
"i'm not sure i have any choice. i go up against you, i'll end up without a cent to my name." all in good humor, of course. it had been a long time since he had even played the game—oh to be young and practiced again. "but i think you've won enough i feel comfortable taking a drink's worth. what are you having?"

She knew of the council but had yet to either see them in person or hear from them. "I've only been here a few months and the council hasn't made themselves known much while I've been here," she explained as she felt the urge to roll her eyes at the other's command. "What do you even need it for?" she asked as she began to walk, not giving the other the chance to think
Leizu is naturally always mere moments away from a 'don't you know who I am?' moment. And in this case she thinks it would be justified. Because really, is this girl unaware of Leizu's presence on the council? She must be, to question her. "I'm sure you've not. I don't make a point of hanging around in hospitals." They smell terrible, and sick people depress her. "Nonetheless, here I am, on Council business, and -- forgive me for saying so, but Council business is rather beyond your sphere. Don't worry about the whys and wherefores. Come along now, I don't have all day."

"I've noticed," she laughed softly, knowing that a place where someone could feel normal - or as close to it as they could - was a rarity for people like her. "You have a point, though it hasn't been easy getting to this point"
"This city loves to collect." Odie thought of her own journey to Sol, the moment fear gave way to grief within its borders. "Safer harbor here then what's out there..."

"Lazy," he muttered jokingly as he slid the beer towards the other - knowing he was more than capable of getting his own. But it was Christmas - or close enough to it - might as well be as nice as he could be. "Trying to change that but yeah, sure, let's celebrate" he chuckled, raising his drink up before taking a swig from the bottle
@freshcir ( for emir / christmas eve at some sort of dive bar )
Tammy holds his hand out, ready for Emir to slide the beer into his hand. Something he tries to keep a habit due to many, many drinks lost as a drunken Tamiel would wave his hands around and decimate the table in his search. "Cheers to greeting another Christmas blind drunk!"

"So what is this 'Christmas' everyone's excited for?" she asked with child-like enthusiasm. She had seen many people grow excited as the holiday grew closer but she, herself, had no understanding of what was so exciting about it. "Is it fun?"

The outside world was a scary place, and as positive as she tried to stay it was difficult in a crowd of people. Hiding in a corner, she nervously fidgeted with her sleeve as she tried to calm herself down, being at the point of tears quite honestly. "Breath, Az," she whispered to herself, "I'll never belong will I?" she added in a whisper, unaware of the person next to her

"Oh come on, you piece of sh-" he stopped as he felt a presence near him before turning around and smiling awkwardly. "Sorry, this is a normal thing for me. Anyways, what's up? Can I help with something?" he asked as he placed the wrench down and walked towards them

At first it was weird being so in tune with darkness but after a few years of really working on it, it became somewhat of a mutual relationship between the two. "It's okay," he said to the small ball of darkness in his hand as he slowly watched it dissipate. "I'll have to use some of it later, huh?" he thought aloud before realizing there was someone there. "Oh!" he jumped, "hey, hi, sorry about that - talk to myself a lot lately"

“Yet again, Mavi Badem is the pool champion, I’ll take this,” she hummed as she pulled in the few hundred bucks she had managed to win. This totally made bitching out TJ worth it in the long run - her longstanding frustration with him causing her to actual push herself to win. “I think I’ll call it a night though, want a drink? My treat”

She was fairly bad at reading people, thanks to being held in captivity for most of her life, and the compliments she was given made her slightly uncomfortable. Not because of him but because she didn't fully know how to react to that. She was used to being berated and insulted, not the other way around. "Oh, um," she cleared her throat as she looked away, slight red on her cheeks, "thank you very much. I'm sorry, I'm not good at human interaction still but I appreciate the compliment"
Sebni took a moment to calm himself down, taking a deep breathe, and then turning around, only for all those negative feelings to go away, as if they never even existed. To say that Sebni was surprised to see the plant-like woman, the dryad, would be the understatement of the year. It was obvious in his face, the way his eyes widened in astonishment, the way his jaw was slightly dropped, and the way his body would dare not move for fear of it all being just an ephemeral illusion. The plants were calling her? Well, if Sebni was a plant, he would've called for her, too. The way a sad, lonely man would pray to a goddess for peace. “ That's alright... You're fine... So very fine... You look... I'm sorry, I shouldn't be staring, but... You are just... Too beautiful. ”

She knew that what she did was something that was extremely risky, throwing oneself at a hurt animal would instill a possibly negative reaction, but she was glad to see he either held himself back or was genuinely relieved to see her. "It doesn't matter why, you're free," she smiled brightly as she gently cupped his face, tears building in her eyes as she realized he wasn't going to be hurt anymore. "I escaped somehow, it's all a blur honestly"
ed tenses and feels himself start to drool when she throws his arms around her, but for once that's a confliction with what he wants. instead of biting, he pulls her into a strong hug of his own, nub of his tail wagging fast. "someone... let me go. i don't know why they did that." they had died anyway, but he leaves that part out. she's the only person he thinks ahead for. other than adonis. "how did you get out?"

Why was he staring at him like that? It almost made him wish the passed out drunk was awake again so that he could either confirm or deny that this guy was staring a little too much at Emir. "Hey," he called out to the bar guard, "we got one down, you might wanna -" and without wasting a second the guard began to drag him away like this was a normal occurrence. "Huh" was all he said to that
“ Oh, yeah, definitely, ” Sebni nodded with a shit-eating, totally-wasted grin on his face, his eyes wide in amusement. He kept staring at Emir for longer than anyone should be staring at anyone else. Then he nodded, gesturing toward the other guy, as if encouraging Emir to be that someone. “ Someone should. ”
