IYWD feels like so long ago to me now. I think in my mind it feels like something amateurish or not as evolved as some of the stuff I’ve done since, or almost like. Idk cute or quaint in its tone in comparison to how fucked things get in the timeline later on. But whenever I return to it I am like. Oh actually I am proud of this. I’m not often like. Uncomplicatedly proud of something I made without a ton of caveats but. Idk! This holds up as a standalone. And I don’t even think it feels that disruptive to the tone of the rest of that Universe. Like I do think and it also holds up to me both as a precursor for all the fucked clone torment nexus bullshit and technically also as the conclusion to the clone torment nexus. Idk it’s weird bc again in my brain it’s always like “oh IYWD is probably not that good you’re just proud of yourself for finishing something” but idk! I return to it and. Even knowing how fucked Porter and Jace are to each other. To the clones. Like. I still like it. I still think it’s a strong showing. It’s like. It always always always feels deeply wrong to admit I like something I made but. I do!

Tbh I think one of my fav small things about it tho that I miss due to all these self imposed limitations I have when it comes to writing the clones is how earnest and almost like. Smitten Porter is? Like. I LOVE repetition and intertextuality within the clone verse I use it way too much but. Like. Idk if it’s just me but I love the line “Darling, I don’t think I could bear it if anybody else saw you like this” and that’s such a Jace special to me. Porter could never say that to any of the clones. There’s a level of smitten Porter can get that only belongs to Jace.

"So that's that infamous Wang tattoo?" Jiang Zisuan asks, watching Liu Can finish showering with interest. "I thought it was supposed to be a phoenix." The ink is the right color, dark red against Liu Can's pale shoulder.

Liu Can glances at the thing. "It used to be until I took a new Master. He changed it to a crow. Said I needed the protection."

Given how often the man got himself into fixes, Jiang Zisuan admits he probably needs it. "I thought it was invisible most of the time."

"Most of the time, yes. Not after a hot shower." Liu Can grins brightly, tilting his head with a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Care to find out how long you can make it last?"

It's a challenge and an offer. As he drags Liu Can over to the bed, Jiang Zisuan decides he's more than ready for both.

Part of the Clone Twins series, where Liu Sang and Wang Can are Yan Sanxing's clones. Wang Can was taken in by the Blue Robed Master after the fall of the Wang and retrained. Ok now that you’ve brought it up the concept of Bluejay being Jaceporter’s live in boyfriend / awkward weird little house guest enmeshed in the jaceporter toxicity in Jace + the Jacesverse is so funny and I can’t stop thinking abt it. Finally please get blue in a situation where he’s not waiting on their hand and foot. And yet it’s still fucked in a different way <3

its SO GOOD bc it's like. what if j2 from cloneverse was right and there really WAS a secret good version of the torment nexus. but also there wasnt. also sorry this got long

so timeline vaguely is that first jaceporter get together, and so do lj3. and bluejay is the sole remainder. so he tries dating briefly but the spotlight is too much for any of his non-famous partners, and the famous people interested in him want the stage version of him, this bright-eyed ingenue who is so naive and innocent and virginal, and he hasnt been that for years, come on guys. its especially apparent with the older men who want him. porter is like a toned-down version of this atp because he's fronting as semi-normal to not scare j2 too much.

anyways. he's single, very pretty, and a little lonely bc jace and porter do a lot to keep him insulated from the world that is Too Harsh for their little songbird. theyre always over at his apartment to keep him company (preventing him from making friends outside of the jaceporter-approved circle), they run his social media and screen his calls and emails (restricting who he talks to), and they whisk him off on little adventures all the time (controlling where he is and who he's with).

and so j2's brain is Deeply cooked. he's so enmeshed. he thinks this is them taking care of him, and isnt that so kind of them when they dont have to? they should be spending this time with each other but instead theyre with him, always helping him and paying attention to him. (subtly, jace is like "see how we're here and ellie and j3 aren't? we're the only ones who actually care about you")

ofc the next recording cycle rolls around and so j2 is like. well you guys always come over to my place why dont i come over to yours this time. and he only means to stay for a couple of days. but he and jace have such a clear vision of what the next album should be and they end up spending an entire week in jace's home recording studio and crank out a double album's worth of demos to bring to ellie and j3. and theyre INCREDIBLY good is the thing. they'll go on to be remembered as some of the band's best songs.

and at the end of the week j2's like "well i dont want to overstay my welcome" and jace is like "oh youre not overstaying at all, why dont we celebrate? we did such a good job we deserve this" and j2 is like "okay!" and he spends another week at jace's house getting railed by him and porter w/ brief breaks to shower and eat something.

atp ellie comes looking because she hasnt heard from j2 in two weeks and comes to jace and porter's home like "where IS he. i know you have him" and jace is like "i'm not his keeper why are you asking me" (j2 is in the master bedroom w/ porter being handfed breakfast) and hands ellie the flashdrive full of demos and is like "here we worked on this, give it a listen and get back to me" and slams the door in her face before going back to j2 and porter.

and during this time. i think bluejay confides in them that sometimes he feels lonely. and theyre like "well why don't you move in? so youre not so alone in that apartment of yours." so he DOES. cue even more enmeshment and getting a front row seat to jace and porter's couples drama. plus finding out that porter's been screwing over the band in their contract and jace knows about it and is enabling him. but he's not telling ellie or j3 this because well. it's not like they cared about him enough to stop breathing into each others' mouths for five seconds.

To my surprise! T and E are like. Evenly tied with 7 each.... Genuinely was expecting E to eek out the others bc nearly EVERYTHING i've been writing these days is kind explicit lol (except for Tell Me How) and i've been writing a LOT more than i used to. But i guess in the past i have more like tame stuff, makes sense, some of it is Reddie some of it is DR so...

Hysterical, considering how nothing he is, but also. Completely unsurprising considering how much i've been gripped by that piece of sopping wet cardboard of a man and his "I can't, I tried" that has compelled me all summer long..... But also, some of the times im tagging Jace its actually in the place of his clones who are technically canon but do not have personalities or names and therefore do not have ao3 tags.... Porter is second at (6), which does make sense bc.... like.... Jace has superceded him... who is porter... my new hyperfixation LJ3 has practically nothing to do with Porter, no i will not elaborate

Not really? Idk i don't think i write enough to have many surprises on my ao3, like i knew Starbreaker was the most i'd written for in a long time and i was right. I was surprised i have the same amount of T and E fics.... but to be fair before this summer most of the things i wrote were like. Ambitious multichap stuff that were full on AUs or sometimes took place in high school so i guess that makes sense.... Its just, in my mind my stupid hornyposting has eclipsed everything else. I WAS surprised abt the benverly thing, that's a total fluke. It feels wrong that I technically have more benverly than LJ3

I really shouldn't be surprised by how Jace Stardiamond is my favorite sopping wet beast. And yet.

Do you have maybe headcanons about the first Clone Club? Cosima/Beth/Alison?

1. Meeting sober Alison was a bit of a disappointment after their first encounter on Alison’s front porch. The closed mindedness and paranoia was really only hurting their potential partnership - particularly when Alison shot down any and all suggestions that actively involved her in any way.

2. Beth was always trying to reconcile the two: Alison with her fears (“I’ll do whatever it takes to help you feel safe”) and Cosima with her bold plans (“This can’t get out yet; can’t you keep it quiet for a while - at least until we know what we’re dealing with?”)

3. Alison hated the pitying looks she got from Beth and Cosima whenever she insisted on her safety. They weren’t married. They didn’t have kids. While Beth had a boyfriend, she still didn’t seem to have any tether to the life she had. Alison knew her fears were justified, but she still hated feeling like the villain.

4. Beth chose not to tell them about Sarah; it’s not like Sarah was around to join their little Clone Club (Cosima’s idea). But Beth was secretly very curious about Kira, Sarah’s daughter. She wouldn’t dare act on that curiosity, but she held it close to her, like a beacon of hope.

Seventeen kept himself out in the garden as a distraction. He couldn’t stop thinking about how large the world was. How many people lived in the cities and buildings. All he wanted was to be left alone. Rufus and the Turks were acceptable company. But sometimes even that proved stressful. At least the plants understood. They didn’t speak, yell or make a sound. But they were beautiful. Maybe they could help him tell Rufus how he felt.

Rufus watched from between the slats of the blinds on the second story balcony doors down to where Seventeen was tending the ever growing garden. It had started so small and disheveled, and was now flourishing under his clone's careful attentions. Just one more area where they truly differed. Rufus had no luck with plants. He was armed with plenty of theory, of course, but they didn't whisper to him they way they did Seventeen. Maybe it had something to do with the mako treatments.

Even so, there was still something there that Rufus could pick up on. A softness that wasn't there before. A happiness unknown. Rufus might not be able to read the flowers, but he could read R-17. Something had changed in him from when they first encountered one another. And it had changed things between them.

Not for the first time, Rufus wondered what it was he was waiting for. Seventeen was well and adjusting. They'd grown closer. He really didn't have much to lose.

But he was upstairs, and Seventeen was in the garden. Maybe tomorrow he'd offer him some flowers to tell him how he felt.

“Toby, the dark matter is corrupting you.” Cryptor flinched when his vision tried to go purple.

Toby snorted, smiling again as he raised an eyebrow. “Corrupting me? It’s part of me.”
