The war is over!

Jesse, Kix, Echo and Fives live together in an apartment on Coruscant. 

Echo finds himself in a new romance with a beautiful woman named Hehna. After finding himself lacking in experience, Fives offers to help him out with advice and practice.

Unfortunately for Fives, this awakens some feelings he thought were buried deep and he doesn’t know what to do about them. He decides to put them aside and be happy that Echo has found someone.

Fives’ advice does help Echo become more confident with his new girlfriend, but something is holding him back. His thoughts keep returning to his best friend and he’s not the only one who notices.

Will Fives keep his role as the best friend, or will Echo realize that his attraction to Hehna pales in comparison to his feelings for Fives?

Fives watched his best friend’s eyes, his stomach twisting in on itself at the way they lingered on his lips as he slotted his face in closer and closer. He closed his eyes - when he was sure that there would be no more sudden movements - and nearly sighed in relief when he felt the slight brush of Echo’s lips against his.

His fingers tightened of their own accord, digging into the muscle just above Echo’s hips, wanting so badly to pull him in closer and deepen the kiss, but his mind thankfully resisted, insisting again that the purpose of this kiss was just a simple tutorial.

“Touch me,” Fives murmured against the soft but barely moving lips against his own.

Echo’s mouth froze even as he shifted on his feet. Fives could tell he was hesitating. He could practically feel Echo overthinking everything, so he tipped his head slightly and pulled Echo’s lower lip between his and sucked gently. He felt a hot puff of air escape Echo’s nose seconds before tentative fingers traced his cheek.

The touch felt painfully reverent and it sent shivers through his system, desires for things he shouldn’t be wanting beginning to take shape in his chest. He hummed encouragingly and pulled back just enough to separate their lips so he could focus. 

He’d intended to offer a compliment for Echo’s swift mastery of that first technique. He had planned on going over some suggestions on what to try next and maybe stressing the importance of taking things slow and enjoying it. He’d expected questions. He’d predicted some degree of self doubt or second guessing.

The one thing he hadn’t anticipated was Echo chasing his lips, the smooth and almost sure way he cocked his head to the side and sealed their mouths together once more. This time, he mimicked Fives’ kiss so perfectly that he couldn’t help but part his lips and swipe his tongue tentatively across Echo’s bottom lip. That move must have spurred Echo into motion, though, because almost immediately he felt Echo’s tongue slip between his lips quickly. Too quickly.

Fives squeezed Echo’s hips, reluctantly breaking the kiss before Echo could attempt to take things any further. He felt the body tense beneath his fingers and he lifted one hand quickly to cover Echo’s where it still rested on his cheek. He guided Echo’s palm to slide sensually over his skin, curling his fingers carefully between those of his best friend and leading him down, past the stubble of his jaw and the scratchy cut of his goatee until it landed on the side of his neck.

“Easy… okay?” He opened his eyes just far enough to see Echo nod in understanding. “Now, deepen the kiss. Gently.”

Echo swallowed, his throat bobbing as his tongue darted out to wet his lips and Fives almost moaned at the sight.

“Lead the kiss, but let yourself react to my touch as well,” he whispered.

Echo’s eyes slipped shut as he leaned in and brushed their lips together with an ease that definitely hadn’t been there before. There was a new sense of confidence rippling through Echo this time and Fives felt a surge of pride that he seemed to have already mastered this part of the lesson at least. Not that it really surprised him. This was Echo after all. He’d always been a fast learner.

Fibre comes over with the cup and a brush that doesn’t look like the kind they use to paint armor. Thorn stays in place obediently as Fibre starts to spread the stuff on his head. It feels cold and weird, especially where the hair is shortest and the brush meets no resistance. “You’ll need to come to me again in a few weeks to do the roots again. Or I can teach you how to do it yourself, so you don’t need to get me every time you do this”, Fibre tells him, and something about his words turns Thorn’s world inside out.

To do it again in a few weeks. To come back to paint Thire over his face, or to learn to do this himself so he won’t have to keep coming back.

The room spins around him. Why the fuck can’t he breathe. Why the fuck can’t he keep it together.

He has lost men before. Even if Thire is - was - special, he is just one more name on the list of brothers who have died. “I might need Fox”, Thorn gasps.

“Sir”, Fibre says but it is like he was speaking over a malfunctioning comm.

Thorn feels like he is on the verge of some sort of a revelation, but not a good one. And if he falls, there won’t be going back. Fibre said he would help Thorn do the dye job again. Because the hair will grow back blond, but he can’t keep it like that anymore. Because the hair will keep growing back for the rest of his life but he…

Something crashes on the floor, he thinks. It must be on the floor. If you drop things, they fall down. Some things are inevitable that way.

Thire is dead, and he won’t be coming back, but Thorn.

Thorn is stuck in some sort of an in-between state, still breathing but dead on paper. Dead for everyone off planet. Dead for all his batchmates and for most of his command track, dead for the cute vod he had been thinking about maybe calling again when 104th was back on Coruscant.

He is dead to everyone he hasn’t yet met too, because from now on he has to put on a foreign armor and a foreign face every day for the rest of his life. His whole identity is dead.

Except in all the ways that he is still alive.

Summary:

It was supposed to be a simple mission in catching Crimson Dawn. The three of them were supposed to get in that camp, mess up the comm systems, hail the general, and get out. The best case scenario was they’d catch Dryden Vos. The worst case was they’d get hurt trying.

They knew of the disappearances. They knew something was picking off the people of Kijimi in droves. Fives, Echo, and Tup had to make sure they don’t suffer the same fate. They will die trying to.

“Boys.”

Echo exchanged a look with the other two before they turned to their general. The rest of the troopers had already loaded up in their gunships, their engines whirling in anticipation, but they were ordered to wait for the general to get in hers before they left together.

“Sir?”

“Did you read the report I sent you?” Ahsoka asked, her brows furrowed with worry, and by then, Rex was already walking towards them again. “The latest one, not the one Jesse gave you.”

Fives froze. “Uh—“

“I know,” She gave him a brief smile, before the seriousness of the issue weighed on her face again. “Did you read it?”

Oh, Echo read it alright. And he didn’t like it at all.

“Yes, sir,” Apprehension chewed in his chest as he looked between both Ahsoka and Rex. “It’s about suspicious activities that had them sending over new scouts to the tower every other week or so because the previous ones kept disappearing. There wasn’t anything specific as to why that was happening, since it’s mostly because we don’t know what it was that made them vanish into thin air in the first place.”

“It’s strange, sir,” Tup mused. The three of them had been combing through the report during breakfast, flipped it inside out trying to make sense. “They were just… gone. We don’t know if they even struggled, since there was no evidence that said so. As if they just disintegrated on the spot. City dwellers say whoever was taking them, they were probably attacked at night.”

“From what we gathered, they didn’t even search for the missing people,” added Fives. “It’s either because they didn’t care, or they were too scared shitless to go investigate. They would at least have some idea who or what was attacking them if they did.”

“Exactly,” Ahsoka agreed. “We don’t know what happened to them, but it’s dangerous enough for the locals to consider this place as a death trap. I need you three to be careful, and keep an eye out for,” Her mouth twisted unhappily. “Whatever that thing is.”

“If you see it, you hide,” Rex said; even he had concern lurking in his eyes. “We’re not taking any chances with this thing. When we make out of this, the least we could do is warn the city of what it exactly is so that they can prepare themselves.”

Fives raised an eyebrow. “You mean if we get out of this alive.”

Summary:  Angel, Alpha-ARC trooper and Commander aboard the HCTFF2 medical station, makes a desperate escape into hyperspace after a surprise Separatist attack.  Confronted with protecting Kaminoan secrets or saving his fellow troopers, Angel chooses the lives of the men in his care.  Denal, one of his patients, witnesses an act of treason and is torn between doing what his training says is right versus what his heart tells him.

“You run a tight ship, Commander,” Kel Torra remarks.

Angel is unsure if she means to pay him a compliment or if she’s admonishing him for overbearance.

“But your expenses are nearly twice that of other medical stations,” she continues.

“HCTFF2 receives the majority of wounded troopers, sir,” Angel states.

Kel Torra blinks at him.  He’s never been a good judge of Kaminoan body language.  Costing the Republic credits without justification isn’t something he appreciates being accused of.  He looks up at her, wondering if she has more to say or if she’s looking for him to explain himself.  It’s simple, really.

“This medical station does not decommission enough troopers compared to the numbers being redeployed to the front,” Kel Torra eventually tells him.

It’s simple.

“These men are still alive, sir,” Angel states as flatly, and as calmly as he can.

She blinks and her already thin lips thin further.  “These… clones… are alive against set protocols.”

Tup had been so thrilled to have been given a gift of fruit- a form of space cherries from the locals- after the 501st had helped the planet fight off the Seppies and clankers. He had helped one of the local farms with clean up of the battle- and they had given him a basketful of cherries.

They are a warm orange pink colors with stems being a purple-blue color. He had gone to Kix and had them tested for edibility for near-humans and vod'e alike. He had been told that they were safe to eat, and Kix had only taken a small handful of cherries in recompense for the use of his time and equipment.

Tup is smiling and has an almost bounce in his step as he heads to one of the rec rooms and takes a seat at in one of the comfy couches and settles in. He has a bowlful of cherries- and a data pad with a good book to read.

Tup pops the cherry in his mouth- stem and all as he chews on the cherry and happily reads the book- it's a fictional work, with romance, fighting, and all sorts of other things in it. He's quite enjoying the book.

Kix and Dogma had agreed to get their karking chips out of their head- and Tup was scanned, he did not have his chip, that had been removed, thank the ka'ra and the force. It did not take long for them to recover from the minor brain surgery.

The three of them meet with the rest of the bad batch, and the former members of the 501st have a tearfully happy reunion with Echo who holds them all with a gentle sort of desperation. Having a fully trained medic helped with certain missions that went up osik shape.

Also- with Tup and Dogma at the helm of the Ship, Tech could go on missions with the rest of them more as they rotate who is flying and guarding the ship verses who is on mission. They are more able to have Omega stay with the ship, as they have more than one other vod'e and crewmate on the ship.

Which is in general, a much safer location for Omega to be, she is still trained, and by a wider variety of vod'e. Kix, she shadows in the medbay, learning more medical skills, and he calls her, "my excellent medic cadet assistant."

They had their arguments of course, but on the whole they tended to get along better than be too argumentative. They are dodging the collective efforts of The Marshall Commander Cody and Crosshair- and their group of likely a blend of Storm Troopers and vod'e.

Rex was trying to coordinate with some of the local rebel cells - if they can manage capture Crosshair or Cody, he is not laboring under a false delusion that they could capture both of them, that was likely not going to happen.

Summary:

Boss has an Unusual Defect, one that makes it seem like he can travel back in time to a point in the past. Usually, once he has been healed up at a bacta tank dispenser. One of the things that he realizes is, not only is he shifting through time, he is shifting through Alternate Dimensions and Timelines, most of them are very similar to the ones that he originally came from, and some of them are very different. But as a Commando, he was trained to roll with the punches, and flying blaster bolts, and is determined to keep his squad alive. No matter how many times he has to die in order to get a happier ending.

He... pauses and listens, asking questions and slowly following after Sev. Quiet and determined- and interested in that cure- and offering his help, in what little can, what with knowing only enough medical stuff to patch himself and his vode 'e up mid- and post-battle.

Still- Sev encouraged his interesting Other Things- rather than eyeing his blaster with the desperate gaze that he's seen in other vod'e- he's still on Being Watched- for... Suicidal Ideation. Just in case. Boss listens and learns much as the geneticists allow him to of the testing and what they are doing- them finding the Cure- and then later a shelf-stable version of it.

One that he very studiously learns how to make- his joints, oh, how they ache and crack, even though getting the rapid aging cure helps, he is still suffering the after-effects of the rapid aging, before it had been shifted to normal nat-born aging rates for a near-human species.

Still- during one of the times that they are helping the Rebels out with administrative tasks, teaching tactics, and whatnot, which helps them, most of these nat-borns are very painfully civilian.

It's interesting, teaching other skills to fight and defend and tactics to kill and harm. Then the alarm klaxons ring, and as the Empire descends on them, Boss makes sure to help others evacuate and fight.

He sees Sev get dragged on a transport- who turns to look- eyes widening in alarm as he sees Boss not on the ship as the last transport takes flight while he is still on the ground- Sev is trying to move there is noise and light and heat and pain... light, darkness, and a howling silence.

Boss's eyes snap open and his eyes flicker around swiftly as he tries to assess where he is, when it is, and what's going on. He mentally frowns as he looks around, everything seems... bigger- and he notices the harsh white walls and blinding- not blinding lights.

Kamino. Why the kark is he all the way on Kamino? That doesn't make sense- he should be somewhere in Kashyyyk not on Kamino. Perhaps it was because it had been so long since he had done a Return?

Hm... Finishing using the bacta tank dispenser on Kamino he walks- almost wobbling, Sweet karking force how young is he? He finds a mirror and sees a cadet just barely out of decanting peer at him in the mirror.

Well, kriff. He's back years in the past- before the start of the War, and well before the Rise of the Empire- and the fall of the Republic. Which had been more decaying into the Empire- but alas, such quibbles are for those that care about politics and mega-conglomerations.

One of the first things that the tubie-cadet Commandos are taught is how to use the bacta tank dispensers. The only times they are sent to the medics are for is when they get shots and their annual medical checks that all vod'e have to take.

So that no one would know what happened, and to adulterate the scene so that it was shown that it was Separatists that had killed the Senator and the... the Corrie vod'e. The Shiny almost felt sick to his stomach, that he had, unknowingly, killed fellow vod'e.

The soft shells had no chance against highly skilled and deadly commandos- and this showed it to him quite clearly. The shiny hunches his shoulders a little and follows after the slicer-engineer and helps them with cleaning up after the mission.

They leave the bodies of the Senator and the vod'e where they lay and then head back to their ship. Their Sargent, then contact Marshall Commander Fox and informing him that his squad will be arriving to take the Senator Thri'kresh to a safer location in two day’s time- their ship is still a couple days out from docking with Coruscant.

The Shiny Commando marvels, while trying not to cry or vomit or scream, about how well his ori'vod and Sargent can lie to the other vod. The Demolitions expert- the most chatty of the three ori'vod'e in Theta Squad tugs him in for a hug.

They watch him- likely monitoring him so he won't do something stupid. The guilt eats at him, the numb, shocking horror of it. Not that he would say a word of this to anyone. Opsec- for one thing, and another... no one wanted to be a vod-killer.. and he is one.

The Corries are scrambling- three squads of Corries- which had been sent to protect Senator Thri'kresh- who had been in a Senatorial hiding house in one of the safer lower levels were all found dead- as well as the Senator.

Trill is one of the medics checking over the dead- and the slicers are going for the coms and hteammatesfootage- which is a bit grainy and shows that Separatist Commando Droids had slain all of their vod'e and the Senator.

Kark. The Chancellor and the Senate are going to be displeased with their failure to protect the Senator, admittedly Senator Thri'kresh wasn't popular for their Outspoken views on wanting a more peaceful resolution and for vod'e protections.

Theta squad comes waltzing over a criticizing them for their failure to protect the Senator and their complaints about how they didn't have a mission anymore and this better not go on their records as a failure- when it was due to the Corries that their mission charge is dead.

At least- that was the Demo expert and the Combat engineer complaining, one of them was silent- if a bit twitchy, while the Sargent was just watching the situation with his arms crossed and disapproval radiating from him.

"Are you going to help us carry out the dead or just bitch at us?" Sargent Byte of the Corries snaps at the complaining Commandos.

"No- it's not our mission duty to carry failures out." The Sargent said coldly as he turned on his heel and left. His squad fofollowedfter their Sargent, the Shiny Commando pausing, looking back at them, before being grabbed by the Demo expert and tugged along with them.

Clone Ship Rare Pair Event 2025

What is this event?

This event is a chance for folks to create content based on a list of rare pairs of clone/clone ships during the year of 2025!

What does that mean?

While some details are still being hammered out and will follow, the goal is that every month of 2025 will have two "featured" rare pair clone ships, with the goal of creating any content for those ships in their featured month! There will also be at least two alternate ships that can be subbed in for any month of a person's choosing, and a "zero fic" bonus round that runs the whole year. Stay tuned for more details.

This is a ship based event.

What ships qualify?

Any clone/clone ship (or clone/clone/clone/clone/clone...) that has 30 fics or less on AO3 qualifies for this event.

At this time while poly ships are acceptable in the nomination form, but we are looking for a fun way to really highlight clone ships. Ergo, only clone/clone ships will be considered, excluding clone/clone/Jedi or clone/clone/non-clone variations.

How will the pairings be chosen?

We will have a google form to submit nominations for the event, which includes a spot for the ship, as well as an optional field for a "pitch" area. This is where you can spend your time explaining why a rare ship compels you, and why folks should get excited for them and vote for them and then create content!

Please note: we will include these "pitches" in the voting, but reserve the right to edit them for clarity and consistency.

The nomination period will run from 1 Oct 2024 to 31 Oct 2024, so you will have plenty of time to come up with your ships and your pitches for them!

So what is the actual event going to look like?

Each month, two ships will be chosen. The goal is then to make any fan creation featuring that ship as the main focus of the fan creation (additional pairings are allowed as side pairings). There will be a whole month for each ship. We will announce them in advance.

The goal is to have a low stakes, but consistent place to create works of any format for ships that often do not get attention or love.

There will be a collection on AO3 for the event, and this blog will reblog anything it is tagged in for the event during the course of the year.

And 2026?

We'll see how 2025 goes, but if it gets participation and people enjoy it, it could certainly continue past this first year.

Oh, Echo read it alright. And he didn’t like it at all.

“Yes, sir,” Apprehension chewed in his chest as he looked between Ahsoka and Rex. “It’s about suspicious activities that had them sending over new scouts to the tower every other week or so because the previous ones kept disappearing. There wasn’t anything specific as to why that was happening, since it’s mostly because we don’t know what it was that made them vanish into thin air in the first place.”

“It’s strange, sir,” Tup mused. The three of them had been combing through the report during breakfast, flipped it inside out trying to make sense. “They were just… gone.”

It was supposed to be a simple mission to catch Crimson Dawn. The three of them were supposed to get in that camp, mess up the comm systems, hail the general, and get out. The best-case scenario was they’d catch Dryden Vos. The worst case was they’d get hurt trying.

They knew of the disappearances. They knew something was picking off the people of Kijimi in droves. Fives, Echo, and Tup had to make sure they don’t suffer the same fate. They will die trying to.
