A short guide to hiking the Wicklow Way
View from Balinafunshogue The Wicklow Way is Ireland’s oldest and most popular long distance trail and usually hiked over six or seven days. Beginning in South Dublin and ending in the small town of Clonegal County Carlow, it passes through Wicklow National Park, remote mountains, forests and local roads, exhibiting the green Irish countryside in one big swoop. Ressurection of Reaper? Boxgate.
Lunese Aureate Gala? Galagate. And its subsequent Duelgate.
Docks of Ganymede? Docksgate.
Day of Red Doves? Dovesgate.
Adrius' clone? Clonegate.
Stupid RR Theory #86
The suffix -gate is still in use in modern PCE and made a resurgence with the rise of the Solar Republic.
The most recent example was circulated by the Vox Populii referring to Darrow’s attempt to hide the peace talks as ‘ReaperGate’

Winter in Scotland & Ireland
Part 25 - Goodbye Carlow December 2016
It was time to move to our next place, but before we left co Carlow, we stopped by the city to see Carlow Castle… or rather the single wall that is left of the building!
We then had a pit stop in Clonegal (just because it was pretty) before we crossing the county line and hitting up our second castle of the day.
...to be continued...

Huntington Castle
Huntington Castle (Clonegal Castle) is located in the County of Carlow in Clonegal, Ireland. The castle served as the seat of the Esmonde family in the late 12thcentury. Huntington Castle was built as a garrison in 1625 along the important route between Wexford and Dublin. After 50 years, the soldiers left, and the garrison was converted into a family home. Through the years, various extensions and alterations were completed. In the 1970s, the basement was converted into a temple for the Egyptian Goddess Isis. The grounds boast an ornamental lake, stew ponds, a greenhouse, formal Italian gardens, a French lime avenue, a 500-year-old yew walk, and much more. The Esmonde decedents still own the castle, and three generations of the Durdin Robertson family live at the castle. The castle serves as a venue for weddings and private events. The castle is also a B & B and has self-catering accommodations in the Gate Lodge, the Esmonde Wing, and the Gate Cottage. The castle has a tea room and gift shop. Huntington Castle is open to the public for guided tours.

We did it! Stage 8 of the Wicklow Way accomplished and that means THE WHOLE WICKLOW WAY ACCOMPLISHED 🎉🎉🎉!!!
The very last stage of the Wicklow Way today was kinda hard due to its distance (27 kilometers!) and the many kilometers on tarmac road. But we did it!!! It had some nice views to offer though!
And after a tarmac road that went on and on FOREVER we finally reached Clonegal, the official end point of the Wicklow Way.
We even got a certificate from the local pub:
And a sticker of our B&B's landlady that I will totally put on my car 😋:
So I added together and with all the additional kilometers from and to our accommodations we walked like 144 kilometers in 8 stages 👀.
Thank you all for your intetest! We'll fly back to Germany on Tuesday and when I am home, I will definitely post some more photos.

This is my ancestors 12th century castle in #Johnstown #Ireland, which Oliver Cromwell stole during the 1649 Sack of Wexford. The Esmondes, Catholics, were expelled during the Cromwellian years. They also built Huntingdon/Clonegal castle. No wonder it’s reportedly #haunted. https://www.instagram.com/p/CcuwqN-ttLN/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Week 4 (26 Oct 2020)
So for the long weekend, I decided to do some work on my Biophilia project.
On Saturday evening, I went to the River Slaney near Clonegal, Co.Carlow. I took my camera, real lucky with the weather no rain! Beautiful photo’s of trees changing colour, cow’s grazing under trees and swan’s flying over head.
On Sunday, My mom and dad were cleaning our pet donkeys feet, Darby, the brown donkey has bad feet, so Dad has to clean them every week and mom keeps them quiet by giving them ginger nut biscuits, even our dog Pharaoh gets some.
In the evening, I did some free ((automatic) drawing), I also drew my swans and the fire bird, I just realized the tree, I made in Ceramics on Tuesday. Looks so like my drawing!!!
On Tuesday (27th Oct) I went to the ceramics studio and made a beautiful ceramic tree which I hope will become one of the centre pieces of my biophilia project.
