Statement of Story Project

My story project is all about Glimmera the Mystical Princess

This is a fairy tale from my own imagination which I have created, sketched and painted for this project.

I did lots of research for this project and my favorite artist was Grayson Perry. I really love his work.

I really enjoyed this project because I really love to sketch and paint.

The scenes in my story are nearly completed but I have to add more details and finishing touches.

Summer Project No.2 2021

Summer Project No.1 2021

My plan for the summer holidays is to design and paint two 8ft x 4ft paintings of my Glimmera the Mystical Princess story. One scene will be of the Mystical world and the other scene will be of the real world. I hope to paint like Grayson Perry for this project.

Semester 3 - Week 5

On Monday, I went to Eoin's workshop to do some sketch and paint of myself and objects with art materials ( charcoals, markers, pencils, acrylic paints and paintbrushes ) on different papers including cardboards and paper shopping bags. I really enjoyed it so much because it's a lot of fun, relaxing and enjoyable. On Tuesday, I had a meeting with Sylvia and Grainne to review my Tumblr. On Wednesday and Thursday, I continued to work on my story scenes.

Glimmera The Mystical Princess

These scenes are still a work in progress. I have to add some more details and do finishing touches with my acrylic paints.

I am really happy with my paintings because they are really colourful and fully detailed. I hope that you enjoy my new fairy tale story.

Main Characters

Glimmera (left) and Darktridis (right) are the two main characters in my story "Glimmera the mystical princess". I decided to do a detailed pencil sketch of these two characters. These two sketches are A3 size in my A3 sketchbook. Those sketches are fully detailed and shaded in light and dark. I really enjoyed doing the sketches.

Self Portrait workshop

I attended Eoin's workshop on Monday 26th April. I sketched the objects and myself with art materials, easel and the mirror. I used greaseproof paper, newspaper and cardboard. I also used colouring markers, sketching pencils, charcoals, acrylic paint and paintbrushes. I really enjoyed the workshop with Eoin. It was lots of fun and we did a quick sketch for 30secs, 5mins, 10mins and 25mins.

Semester 3 - Week 4

On Monday 19th April, I went to the Self Portrait workshop with Eoin at 10am. I did a quick sketches of myself with an easel, a mirror and art materials (colouring markers, charcoals and sketching pencils) onto different papers (greaseproof paper, black paper, newspaper and sketching pad). I had a zoom meeting with Sylvia at 1:30pm. I also had a zoom meeting with Ciara Phillips at 2:00pm as our art guest. On Tuesday 20th April, I had a meeting with Sylvia and Eoin at 3:30pm. For the rest of the week, I kept working on my story project for next week. I really enjoyed Semester 3 because I love to create my own story with sketches and painting. The workshops are really fun.

Paul Noble

I really like his work because his ideas are from his own imagination and are myths. There is a lot of tech graphics in his work because he trained as a draughtsman. He is also a painter and installation artist. He is best known for his drawings of sprawling, imagined townscapes such as Nobson Newtown. Most of his work is done with pencil sketching and graphite. His work is plain and simple but yet beautiful. When you look at his drawings in detail you will see some unusual items e.g. a leg, a monk praying or very large fingers.

Today, I sketched of myself with my art materials (colouring markers,pencils,pens, and charcoals) mirror and an easel onto different pages for 30sec, 1min, 5mins, 10mins, 12 mins, 15mins and 20mins each.

Semester 3 - Week 3

On Monday 12th April, we returned to virtual college for the last 3 weeks of semester 3. On Monday, I attended Eoin's workshop. I sketched the objects and myself with the mirror, materials and different types of papers. I had zoom meetings with lecturers to talk about my story project and selecting my course for year 2. On Tuesday, we had a meeting with some 4th year painting students. We got a virtual tour of the painting studios. They look beautiful. I chose painting as my first choice. I was very excited and pleased on Friday morning when I saw my name on the list for painting. I continued working on my story project. I did some quick sketching for each of the remaining scenes. I also did quick sketching on my large canvas paper and started to paint. My story project is still very much a work in progress.
