So, do you remember that art poll, a couple months ago, where you asked to see a Greek pottery-style Dors?

Well, here she finally is!

(Some commentary under the cut. Feel free to skip, but if you like the drawing please like, leave a comment or reblog! It means the world to me 💓)

Well, after almost ten hours of work... here it is! My aim was to only use black and red/ocre-ish color used in Ancient Greek pottery, which turned out for what is basically a second attempt! In terms of drawing style though, I steered towards another direction and, for the pose and clothes, I drew inspiration from a 1797 painting of Clio, the Muse of History. This reference just seemed fair to me: after all, Dors being a historian is one of her most prominent character traits, and a lovely one at that. The Muse's traditional attributes of tablet and stylus, pictured in the reference portrait, fit her character so I decided to keep them. The laurel crown was also referenced from the painting and, although it's not traditional, I kept it mostly because I associate Dors with leaf and/or flower patterns. After all, she's the Gift of Spring! I also decided to give one of her drapes a striped pattern, to recall her nickname, "The Tiger Woman". Last but not least, I decided to play around with shadows a bit, mostly on the draperies. Certainly not something you can find on pottery, but nevertheless a nice touch.

Overland, un’installazione site-specific di Tommaso Chiappa dedicata al viaggio e alla scoperta

Palermo - L'arte dove meno te l'aspetti. Si intitola "Overland" l'installazione site-specific dell'artista Tommaso Chiappa, allestita nei locali dello studio dentistico Biodent srl del dott. Angelo Inzerillo in via Puccini 70, che sarà inaugurata sabato 24 giugno alle ore 17.

Negli ultimi anni l'artista palermitano si è distinto per aver portato la pittura fuori dai tradizionali contesti, nei luoghi di lavoro, fabbriche, business center, studi legali e sedi di ordini professionali, alberghi e ristoranti, cliniche e ospedali in tutta Italia. Con gli obiettivi di ampliare l'accessibilità e la fruizione delle opere a un pubblico più vario, connettere l'arte alla vita quotidiana delle persone, stimolare il dialogo tra l'arte e la società, impreziosire gli ambienti di lavoro con un tocco di creatività, arricchire l'esperienza sociale e migliorare la qualità del tempo trascorso in quei luoghi.

Overland propone un percorso di opere pittoriche inedite, ispirate al tema del viaggio e della scoperta, che si inseriscono nello studio dentistico dialogando con lo spazio circostante, dalla reception alla sala di attesa, dal corridoio, fino alle sale operatorie e agli altri ambienti di lavoro.

Overland è un viaggio avventuroso per le strade del mondo. Un'esplorazione attraverso luoghi cari all'artista - da Barcellona a New York, da Palermo a Milano – popolati da folle multicolore che riflettono il continuo cambiamento ed esprimono la dimensione sempre più multiculturale e multietnica delle nostre società. L'artista nelle sue opere racconta il rapporto quotidiano uomo-ambiente urbano e uomo-natura. Il luogo non è solo lo spazio che ci circonda ma è anche emozione, ricordo e memoria, scambio e interazione. L'installazione, pensata e creata negli ultimi anni, ha fatto i conti con la pandemia e con la guerra, ma anche con l'idea di rappresentare una società che prova ad andare avanti. Al tema della Natura Chiappa dedica la raffigurazione di un ficus monocromatico e di alcuni suggestivi paesaggi marini.

L'artista propone opere ad olio su tela con una pittura liquida, attenta al particolare e alla qualità della luce. Ultimamente Chiappa, che in precedenza ha lavorato con la monocromia, utilizza i colori puri, con sfumature nette e i contrasti forti con il bianco di titanio. Il bianco rappresenta l'assenza di colori ma al tempo stesso la sublimazione metafisica nella luce che avvolge la realtà.

Tommaso Chiappa (Palermo, 1983) si è formato artisticamente a Milano, compiendo i suoi studi all'Accademia di Brera e legando il proprio nome alla Galleria di Luciano Inga- Pin con alcune mostre che lo hanno fatto conoscere a un più vasto pubblico. Ha partecipato a numerose personali e collettive in Italia e all'estero. Tra gli altri, la Clio Art Fair di New York (2017). Al suo percorso artistico la critica e storica dell'arte Vera Agosti ha dedicato il libro "Origine di Tommaso Chiappa (Prearo Editore). L'artista predilige per le mostre contesti insoliti e luoghi di lavoro, come fabbriche (Electrolux, Solaro), studi legali (La Scala, Milano; ospedali (IRCCS Maugeri, Pavia), sedi di ordini professionali (Villa Magnisi sede Ordine dei Medici), alberghi e ristoranti (Hotel Excelsior Hilton, Palermo; Antica Focacceria San Francesco, Milano e Palermo). Di recente ha curato la direzione artistica del progetto espositivo Genio italiano al Museo Onda Rossa di Caronno Pertusella (VA) dedicato a Leonardo da Vinci. Sempre nel 2020 ha ideato e curato l'installazione Restart city presso la sede di Ucimu – sistemi per produrre, Associazione Costruttori Italiani Macchine Utensili, Robot e Automazione – a Cinisello Balsamo (MI). Do you ever think that Apollo saw and was upset by any similarities between Hyacinthus and Jason?

I mean, I’m reaching a little bit, but for how little we know about Hyacinthus, there’s a few things they have in common.

For one thing, Apollo called Hyacinthus “the most handsome of men”. And Jason is constantly being described as really quite good looking by basically every character that ever describes him in the series. Can’t remember for sure but I thought Apollo might have commented on his looks once as well? Think he called him “impressive” or something at least.

Hyacinthus has dark hair and purple eyes, so fair enough not much similarity there. But Jason’s signature colour is purple from the Legion so that’s something. Hyacinthus is described as having bronze skin as well. Might be slipping into fanon but I thought Jason also had tanned bronze skin at some points?

In The Hidden Oracle, Apollo dreams of Hyacinthus and he has a big dent in the side of his head above his left ear where the discus struck him. Jason got that bevel (his wild streak) in his hair from Sciron’s bullet, and everyone seemed to like it so maybe he kept it? Could be wrong but I think that groove was above his left ear too.

Aside from looks. Hyacinthus was said to be very brave, entering a relationship with a god which could be dangerous. He was also a Prince of Sparta who knew how to fight, so he’d probably fought in battles too. Jason was said to be very courageous, sacrificing himself in The Burning Maze to save everybody and all the fights he’d fought before. Plus, some people (in the fandom anyway) draw comparisons between him leading the Legion and being Jupiter’s son as effectively being a prince of sorts.

Hyacinthus is supposed to be very kind as well. Jason was shown to be kind handling Nico and making a point to remember minor gods.

Apollo sings of his love for Hyacinthus in The Hidden Oracle and expresses his regret over his jealousy which ultimately killed Hyacinthus. In The Tyrant’s Tomb, Apollo sings about his regret over Jason’s death and about Jason’s bravery and skill.

Hyacinthus’ father taught him archery and martial arts, which he was supposed to be very good at. Among Jason’s other abilities, he’s supposed to be extremely agile. Annabeth described him as very acrobatic when he flipped over Dakota at Fort Sumter.

Hyacinthus was the son of Clio the Muse of History. He knew loads about history and enjoyed it. Jason was mentioned to love history as well, and he always knew lots of helpful Roman history and myths through the quest. Clio taught Hyacinthus history herself to make sure he didn’t repeat the mistakes of his ancestors. Jason and Reyna learned from previous emperors mistakes and tried to emulate the admirable ones in their own leadership styles.

Both were killed by a god (since Caligula had basically become a god by that point) that was mad at Apollo. Apollo felt incredibly guilty over both their deaths, feeling that they wouldn’t have died if he had done better and acted differently, that they died because they were with him.

Hyacinthus loves Apollo dearly. Apollo thinks of him as one of his two greatest loves. Jason defended Apollo to their father at the end of the HoO quest, something that means a lot to Apollo, because not even Artemis, his twin sister, spoke on his behalf because nobody was ever brave enough to stand up to Zeus. That puts Jason higher on Apollo’s list of recognised siblings and half-siblings, since it’s suggested he’s never really paid a great deal of attention to demigod half-siblings before.

Maybe there’s some other things as well but that’s all I can think of for now. But for two totally unrelated characters that’s a lot in common. Just wonder if Apollo thought about any of that and if it made him sadder when Jason died too.

Oh, and obviously, the fact that both their heads are magnets for flying projectiles.

Through  a  series  of related events and programs, including a press preview, and multiple VIP openings, they have the  opportunity  to     meet  art  dealers,  curators,  art  critics,  art  lovers,  while  sipping  Italian champagne. A plus of the fair is free logistic assistance for the non New York based artists: free transportation and free storage in NYC few weeks before and after the Art Fair.

Most  notable,  is  how  Clio  combines  both  emerging,  middle  career,  and  iconic  independent artists  including,  Vito  Acconci,  Nina  Berman  (Whitney  Biennial  2010),  and  Thirza  Cuthand (Whitney Biennial 2019) in the same space, providing a show of substance where the quality of the work is prioritized over length of artists CVs.

The fair born in chelsea, will continue to run twice a year in the heart of Chelsea, the epicenter of the art world, nurturing artists while singing the musings of their eclectic practices.

Our journey dedicated to the reviews of previous editions of the Clio Clio Art Fair Reviews today to its first edition in 2014.

"The Clio Art Fair 2014 stood out for a mix composed of historical artists, those in the process of establishing  themselves,  or  completely  new  and  unknown  to  the  public,  as  well  as  to  the  art professionals in the Big Apple. Among the 33 artists on display, there were numerous works by established  artists,  including  some  drawings  by  Vito  Acconci,  and  a  photographic  series dedicated to the Bronx by Mel Rosenthal. No galleries were directly present at the event, which originated from the initiative of curator Alessandro Berni. "It's difficult to surprise a saturated city

like New York," says Berni. "I wanted to try with this initiative based on the denial of the gallery's role as an intermediary between the artist and the collector."

Dawn

-Daughter of Clio (Muse of History)

-16 Years old. 1 years at Camp

-Summer Camper, goes to a boarding school when not at Camp.

-Fatal Flaw: Black and White Morality

-A fresh faced Demi-god, Dawn has only been at Camp Half-Blood for a year.

-Hyrule’s first quest ended up with their encounter and her subsequent escort to Camp Half-Blood.

-Like Tetra, due to her mother being such a minor Goddess Dawn stays in the Hermes Cabin.

-She does get along very well with the Apollo Campers and they are considering offering a position to her in their Cabin. 

-Dawn doesn’t have any notable powers except for an eidetic memory. Helpful when she is reading history books all day. Less helpful when it’s all a jumbled mess from the Dyslexia.

-She is a fan of romantic novels, even over history books.

-Made a full functioning historically accurate palm-sized catapult out of popsicle sticks during arts and crafts once. It was purchased by a daughter of Hermes for a fair profit.

Artemis

Daughter of Venus (Goddess of Love, Beauty, Desire, Prosperity and Victory) & Granddaughter of Athena (Goddess of Wisdom, War, Crafts, and Battle Strategy) Praetor of the 12th Legion

-19 years old, 7 years at Camp

-Once arriving at Camp Jupiter she never went home

-Fatal Flaw: Low Self-Esteem

-A daughter of Venus are dime a dozen in Camp Jupiter and she aimed to push past the stereotypes placed upon her half-siblings

-She quickly rose up the ranks and landed in the First Cohort, the only child of Venus to do so in a number of years.

-Dusk took her under her wing and helped train and teach Artemis as her protege.

-Received backlash from the Senate after she promoted Warriors to the Praetor position despite him not meeting the requirements for the role.

-She has powerful charmspeak abilities but dislikes using it and prefers to win over her enemies physically.

-Her Father (A son of Athena) lived quite long for a Greek Demi-God but was killed by one Arachne’s monster spider-children in front of his daughter. Artemis has had a fear of spiders ever since that day.

Aurora

-Daughter of Hebe (Goddess of Youth and Forgiveness). Counselor of Cabin 18.

-17ish years old. 5 years at Camp.

-Year Round Camper

-Fatal Flaw: Holding Grudges

-When she first arrived at Camp with her older full brother he was furious that their mother did not have a Cabin.

-Her brother became corrupted by evil forces and turned against the gods and started an uprising against them. It failed

-Aurora was cursed into a lasting youth coma by her brother. She was rescued and freed by Hyrule a few decades later

-She still aged, but very slowly, whilst in her coma.

-Despite her mother being the Goddess of forgiveness she holds very strong grudges and does not forgive easily. 

-She wields her brother’s whip. She took it from him after his death at the hands of the Gods.

-She enjoys hanging out with Tetra and Dawn. Aurora knows what it was like to live in a Camp Half-Blood without the minor Gods Cabins and sympathies with them.

Oh, je sais bien ce qu’il se dit, pas sérieuse la tourniquette, pour ce  défi #30jourspourecrire,   elle nous propose, de la rédaction de 5eD, du comique troupier, elle s’est essayé à la poésie, elle a fait du récit, de l’autofiction, de la fiction. Elle est loin de l’ecriture de texte littéraire  , on est en droit de se poser la question :” est-ce une impostreuse ? impostrice?  Et bim , y’a pas de féminin au mot masculin imposteur”, Ce qui ne se dit pas est décrété ne pas exister.

Elle ne taille pas dans la dentelle et elle écrit sur elle a la 3eme personne.

Et alors pourquoi tout ce préambule hors sujet pour nous pondre son texte ? parce que je l’ai décidé , ma liberté d’auteure.

Je reprend la main, je parle, j’ecris, je dis en mon nom propre, j’assume, je porte haut, je glorifie mes actes .

Je ne suis pas modeste, j’aime que ma couronne, plus que mon diadème, brille de 1001 feux, un éclat pour un exploit.

j’ai une haute opinion de moi-même, même sur ma page Facebook j’ai écris “ C’est moi la mieux”.

La présentation est faite, je ne trompe personne.

Je me dois de vous révéler mon secret, à ce moment précis du récit .

Le soir du passage de la comète de Halley, j’ai été victime d’une invasion intracranienne de  Clio et d’Athena, la muse de l’histoire et la déesse des arts.

Elles m’ont annoncées que suite à mes demandes incessantes, fracassantes, lancinantes, les dieux de l’univers avaient enfin accepté mon offre de création de poste :

Vivre les mythes au plus proche du héro, en symbolisant l’objet qui le rendra légendaire. ( les pompes ailées Hermes, la lyre d’orphée, le marteau de Thor), en contre partie, je fait toute la campagne emarketing pour redorer le blason des mythes. 

Quand j’ai vu ce thème, je ne me suis pas privée pour le sélectionner d’emblée de jeu, pour une fois qu’on me donne l’occasion de parler de Moi,Je ne vais pas me priver 

Vous êtes prêt ?

JE SUIS L’EPEE qui terrassa le dragon.

Dans la main de Georges l’épée, celle là même qui delivra la ville  en saignant la créature dragonesque

Je résumé vite fait : Un Dragon asphyxiait  de son souffle fétide et sulfuré, les habitant de la ville de Silène en Lybie. Pour qu’il cesse de ravager le pays, siléniens lui donnèrent 2 brebis par jour pour le calmer...( La mafia s’est inspiré de cette méthode d’intimidation). “amendoné” y’avait plus de bestiole à sacrifier, alors il envoyèrent des jeunes puceaux et pucelles...jusqu’au jour ou la sacrifiée du jour fut la fille du roi, Georges se dit.... allons faire d’une pierre 2 coups , je demande un mandat pour terrasser le dragon, je les converti au jesuschrisme, et l’affaire est dans le sac.

Je vois vous riez, ou pire vous avez lâché la lecture , je vous est perdu...

Mais oui c’est vrai, loin de moi toute mythomanie, mégalomanie..... Juste une pas envie de grandir, de garder mes amis imaginaires. J’écoute toujours les habitants de ma tête , ma manière de rester à la cime de l’enfance.
