As the morning dawned, a single ray of light sneaked through the boarded-up window, casting a thin strip of illumination across the dusty floor. It travelled slowly, like a silent, ethereal intruder in the otherwise shadowed space. You watched it crawl up to your legs, highlighting the bruises and scars marking your skin, as well as the bandages wrapped around your foot— a mocking beacon of faint hope in the dim room.

Beside you, Ren sat stiffly. His usual poise was marred by anxiety, evident by the way his ears flattened against his head each time his gaze darted to the heavy door.

Soon, the sound of footsteps approached and the door creaked open. Strade entered with a twisted smile, holding two garments. For you, a faded white dress— obviously a thrift store find— yet it held a semblance of what could have been a bride’s traditional attire. For Ren, one of Strade's old suits, dusty and unworn.

"Time to get ready," he announced, his voice echoing slightly in the cramped space. "Don’t take too long. We wouldn’t want to keep the big day waiting." His smile widened as he tossed the garments onto the bed, pausing briefly at the doorway to give one last look before turning to leave.

As the door clicked shut behind him, you exchanged a brief, fraught glance with Ren, his eyes mirroring your turmoil. The preparations were mechanical; the simple acts of bathing and dressing became an attempt to maintain a shred of normalcy.

In the small bathroom, you sat in the tub and cleaned yourself carefully below the neck. Each stroke on your skin felt like an attempt to erase the gruelling memories of the past days. The water ran pink, mingling dust and sweat with blood— a stark reminder of the reality you couldn't completely wash away.

The ordeal felt more surreal as you dried yourself and slipped the dress over your head. It hung loose on your frame, the soft material grazing your skin in unfamiliar, almost comforting touches. You looked into the fogged mirror, wiping away the condensation to see yourself. Your reflection was simple yet transformative, and for a fleeting moment, you recognized a shadow of the person you once were.

Stepping back into the room, you noticed Ren standing before a full-length mirror, smoothing his hair. He turned his head slightly as you approached, his suit hanging loosely on his frame. The mismatched fit would have been almost comical if not for the gravity of the situation. You caught his eye through the mirror and his ears perked up slightly.

His gaze lingered before he forced a smile and turned to adjust the collar of his ill-fitting suit. "It doesn't quite feel like a celebration, does it?"

You approached him slowly, the fabric of the white dress whispering against the floor. "No, but we'll get through this. Just like we've gotten through everything else." You replied, your voice steadier than you felt.

"I know we will. It's just..." His voice trailed off as he met your eyes in the mirror again, searching for an assurance neither of you could truly provide.

You reached out, placing a hand on his shoulder, feeling the coarse fabric under your fingertips. "We'll find a way out. Together." It was a promise, a thin thread of hope you both clung to, even as doubt whispered in the back of your minds.

The ceremony that awaited you was nothing short of a macabre performance, orchestrated by Strade for his twisted enjoyment. As you descended the stairs, the ceremonial charade Strade had set up in the living room revealed itself. A crude altar stood at the end, draped in an old tablecloth and surrounded by a few flickering candles.

Strade's presence, polished yet sinister in a crisp, red suit, only heightened the surrealism of the moment. His hair was neatly styled, transforming him into a figure vastly different from the one you knew. Yet, as the candlelight danced across his face, it illuminated his familiar smile while he puffed on a cigar; the smoke curling around him like a visible sneer.

"You two clean up nice," he mused, a sinister melody in his voice. "My beautiful bride and my handsome groom, all dolled up for our big day." His smirk widened as he exhaled, the cigar's scent mingling with the stale air.

Then, Strade stepped forward, positioning himself by the makeshift altar. "Let’s begin, shall we?" He said, taking the cigar between his fingers and clearing his throat.

“Während manche sagen, dass es zwei braucht, um eine Ehe zu schließen, / While some say it takes two to make a marriage,” he began, "Wir drei sind ein Leben lang verbunden. / The three of us are bound together for a lifetime."

His smile twisted further as he concluded in a chilling tone, "In life and death, our fates are forever intertwined."

As you stood there, facing Strade in his unnervingly handsome guise, a mixture of dread and despair settled heavily in your stomach. His eyes, sharp and calculating, skimmed over you and Ren, taking in every detail of your forced readiness.

“Now let's get to the good part, huh?” his voice dropped to a husky whisper as he closed the distance between you; his movements poised yet predatory. He reached out suddenly, gripping your chin with a firmness that made your heart skip.

“A little token to commemorate our day,” he murmured before his lips pressed briefly against yours. His touch was cold, his fingers clamping your jaw as he pulled away.

Before you could react, Strade's hand moved to your mouth, prying it open, his fingers pressing against your lips. Dread washed over you as he withdrew a small knife from his suit pocket. The sheen of the blade caught the flickering candlelight as he unsheathed it, his eyes never leaving yours. You could feel Ren's gaze burning into you, a silent plea for mercy mirrored in his expression.

Strade's grip on your chin tightened as he brought the blade closer to your trembling lips, positioning it at the center of your tongue. Without hesitation, he made a long, deliberate cut down the median sulcus, the cold steel slicing through the soft flesh. Pain seared through you as blood began to pool in your mouth, spilling down your chin in thick rivulets, and staining the white of your dress.

You could hear Ren's sharp intake of breath, his own fate mirrored in the cruel twist of Strade's lips. The room seemed to spin, the weight of your shared agony pressing down on you like a suffocating blanket.

Strade then turned to Ren, who had watched the ordeal with horror etched deeply into his features. Ren’s attempts to protest were muffled by Strade’s swift and brutal actions, repeating the gruesome act. The immediate flow of blood now tied your pains together in the most visceral way possible.

With a monstrous grin, he forced you and Ren to face each other, pushing you two into a proximity that felt both intrusive and intimate. "Now, kiss," he commanded, his voice low.

You reached up, your hands trembling as they framed Ren's face, your thumbs brushing against his cheeks. You could feel his muscles tense under your touch.

Reluctantly, painfully, you leaned towards him, the coppery taste of blood mingling as your lips met. The kiss was soft at first, almost hesitant, but you pressed closer and your wounded tongues touched. The pain sparked again, more intensely, as you both stifled a groan. Blood mixed with saliva, creating a bond that was as real as it was enforced, painting your lips and trickling down in a slow, warm drip that met the front of your dress.

You could feel Ren's breath hitch, his hands coming up to rest hesitantly on your hips, his touch light, as if afraid to cause more pain— or perhaps more connection. The kiss deepened slightly, not out of desire but out of a desperate need to find solace in your shared suffering.

“This is what binds us together,” Strade remarked, “Not just some vows or rings, but blood, pain, and fear. You two are mine, in every way that counts.”

Finally, you pulled away, and the string of blood that had connected you broke, leaving only a sticky residue on your lips.

魏 Wei

this one is pretty self-explanatory for anyone who can read chinese. on the right is a 鬼 gui radical, which means ghost! for our lil 鬼道之王 king of the ghost path <3

(this radical also appears in a lot of words for "soul," such as 魂魄)

藍 Lan

I've often seen people simply say 藍 lan means "blue," and that wouldn't be wrong but it also wouldn't be completely correct. similar to how wwx clarifies that the 義 yi of 義城 yi city is not that of 俠義 heroic justice, but that of 義莊 coffin home, the in-universe definition from chapter 18 is that the lan surname is derived from 伽藍 qielan, which is a loan word from sanskrit, “saṃgharāma,” meaning buddhist monastery.

溫 Wen

溫 wen means temperature, warm. the wens do love their sun. pretty straightforward!

金 Jin

also straightforward. the jins are rich and opulent, and 金 jin means gold!

聶 Nie

here's where things get interesting. this is the one that made me think more about the surnames, and the reason why they're written in traditional here. I had always read nhs's name in simplified (聂) but when I saw it in traditional (聶), it clicked.

not only does 聶 nie mean "to whisper," but nhs has three 耳 ears in his name!!

AND INDEED, NHS HAS EARS EVERYWHERE, AND HE IS ALWAYS LISTENING. 👂👂👂

江 Jiang

this one I had to think about for a bit. of course, there's the most direct answer, which is that 江 jiang means river—and the jiang's are, of course, well known for their lotus pier and rivers and such. but a more interesting thought that occurred to me was that 江 may be a reference to 江湖 jianghu, aka rogue martial artist communities who aren't affiliated with mainstream society often seen in wuxia fantasy novels. those part of the jianghu do not adhere to government/law, but rather live under individual moral codes of conduct re righteousness, justice, vengeance, etc. quoting jeannette ng's essay on wuxia:

In Stateless Subjects: Chinese Martial Arts History and Postcolonial History, Petrus Liu translates jianghu as “stateless”, which further emphasizes that the hero’s rejection of and by the machineries of government. Jianghu is thus a world that rejects the dictates of the state in favor of divine virtue and reason, but also of a sense of self created through clan and community.

the jiang family precepts and ideals seem v aligned with this aspect of jianghu morality—after all, jc never lets us (or himself) forget that wwx's acts of vigilante heroism are those of an ideal jiang.

• Now, let's go to the actual wear, featuring "ME!". 😊 You can see these photos of mine, they fit well on both of my ears just like before 👂🙂👍. Sound-wise, the sound quality is the same as I expected 🙂🎶👌, but say cannot be said for the quality of ear hooks. You see, upon wearing these or taking off after hours of listening, the material for the ear hooks feels quite flimsy than the original one. 🪢 👂🎧🤔 My OG audio wire's ear hooks used to have a solid bend without worrying about. On top of that, the wiring itself feels quite light, making it easy to snap after a long use (, as I predict 🤔). Not to mention, the slippery and glossy appearance of the wiring. Though, I'm not sure if this replacement could last as long as the original one. But, we'll see in the endurance durability pace for my new audio wire. On the plus side, it is as comfy as before without hurting my ears; not even once.

• As of today (Dec 15th, 2023), I have no issues whatsoever, so far. I've tested it on my Honor 8C phone to see the function of the controls (play/pause, and the volume buttons), and it worked well. And with the volume controls on my IEM earphones, I don't have to reach my phone just to adjust the volume for hearing purposes. 🎧📲😊👍

Overall & Asking Price:

• Despite material differences between the OG and the replacement one, I'd say if your OG audio wire was busted after the lifespan was dead, a replacement for your current IEM earbuds is a better choice. 🎶🎧😊👍 Not only the audio wire replacements deliver the same quality sound as the original, but they also it'll save your budget, as well, if you have existing functional IEM detachable earpieces. Because some people like me, don't want to spend another spare of regular earphones with no detachable feature, right? Well, okay I guess that is debatable (BUT). 🤔Nonetheless, I think every IEM budget owners should buy this if they so desire. 😊

• As for the price, I order it from Shopee PH for only ₱ 145 [CLICK ME!] 🏷️. 🇵🇭🛒🌐 There's also an additional ₱10 for the pouch, but I rather not spending it. Considering, that I have tons of pouches to used. 🙂 There's also available on Lazada PH [CLICK ME!] 🇵🇭🛒🌐, as well albeit a different price than Shopee 🏷️, plus there's a Type C variant and different style choices.

Hello! Here’s Final Part (Part 2) of my QKZ AK6 Pro IEM Earphones (featuring my paper dolls)! 🙂

⚠️IMPORTANT ANNOUCNEMENT:⚠️

• So, before I proceed to my final part, I want to apologize for the delay because... Well, Half a week ago, I got a volunteer job as a street cleaner for 10 days 🏙️🧹🗑️👷, from 8 AM to 12 NOON 🕗🕛🗓️ (from Oct. 13th [Thursday] to 22nd, 2022 [Saturday]). And, I was gonna continue my topic after my day shift cleaning & I can't wait to try out my first owned IEM (In-Ear Monitor) earphones. However, I can't handle my body, so I have to adjust my time management, or at least I'll keep working for 10 days before it's over on Saturday. Not to mention, the one requirement I need to submit, and that is the street cleaner record w/ pictures 📝🖼️. You don't know what it is, but it's important to my "clean mates" or "clean crew". Regardless, my volunteer street cleaner is over, I've already passed my record, and I'm finally back in my saddle. 🙂 The only thing I'll be wait is my salary. And according to officials said had to wait for 10 days before I received my payment salary via send money delivery. 🕰️💵🚚 So yeah, at least I'm having fun cleaning outside w/ other "clean mates". Hmmm, is that the real word? 🤔 But I digress.😅

And now, back to my topic...

• So, for this final part, I'm testing out my first ever owned IEM earphones from the folks of QKZ & see if I can comparison with my ZNT earphones (Model R620) from earlier this year. As well as, my thoughts & opinions about the QKZ AK6 Pro. Is it good or not? Let's find out! 🙂

So, without further ado, let's get started:

• Here, you can see I'm connecting the IEM earbuds to the QDC C Pin. Since it's my first time doing so, I have to research how to connect properly when using IEM earphones. And so, after a few minutes to figure it out, I manage to connect correctly. What's very interesting to me is the ability to swap any IEM earbuds from different brands, as long as it's matched with the QDC C Pin, and not other pin types.

• [1st & 2nd Images] And here's what should it looks like. Hope my ears fit with these. 😊👂 But, what if my paper dolls will wear these? 🤔

• Now, before I tested out with my ears, let's have a comparison with my old ZNT earphones (R620), and you could see they look different in their own design; from the earpieces to their controls (one has a volume adjuster [ZNT] & other doesn't have but one button [QKZ]), and even their 3.5 mm audio jacks (one is straight [ZNT], and other was in L-shape form [QKZ]).

• And finally, their cable lengths. They're pretty much the same length as you expect; about 120 cm or 1.2 meters long. Not to mention, their different quality of audio wires. Right, paper dolls? Yeah. 😊

• Alright, it is time to wear these cool IEM earphones into my ears! And here's what should it looks like! (both right & left ears) 😁👂🎶 If you don't know how to wear IEM earphones on your ears, then there's a tutorial about that → [CLICK ME!].

• Now, let's discuss the AK6 Pro's signature sound. I have to say, I'm very impressed. 👍 Both bass, treble, high & lows, and even mids are pretty nice, in my respective opinion. 🙂👌🎶 And when I compare it to my old ZNT (R620) earphones, their sound signatures differ. Uh yeah, and there are no muddy sounds on the AK6 Pro (as of now), which is good for me. 😊 Again, I had no experience wearing IEM earphones, but I'm just getting started (or embraced it), don't worry. 😉 The only negative I could think of was the longevity of usage, specifically the ears. You see, I've been wearing AK6 Pro earphones on both ears for about 1 to 2 hours, and I've experienced a cramp on my left ear when I touch or adjust my left audio wire. 😣👂💢 My right ear, on other hand, was surprisingly long-lasting without a teensy pain. Other than that though, I'm having so much enjoy with the QKZ AK6 Pro. 😁👂🎶

• Finally, let's try to compact my AK6 Pro onto my earphone pouch case, and it fits very well when I close & zip the cover thanks to their odd knot audio wire construction. 🙂👍 I make sure that this wire is perfectly circled before I place it in my black pouch. While some argue that the construction wire was unlikely to their own personal taste, but for me, I'm fine with that. As long as the wire itself is long lasts. Otherwise, I might buy a new replacement albeit a different kind with a different brand, and also in QDC C Pin format. Right, my paper dolls? They both totally agree! ☺️

Overall & Price:

• What can I say, this earphone is just what I need! Great signature sound, the appearance looks neat by today's IEM earphone standards, and lastly the cheapest IEM earphone that can detach the wire & plug in a different IEM wire or vice versa. The AK6 Pro from QKZ had checked its boxes, and I'm having fun listening to it with my favorite music tracks! 😌🔉🎶 Right now, I'm listening to Video Game Lo-Fi (Low-Fidelity) music like DJ Cutman & GameChops in their own Livestream YT! 🎮🎶 [CLICK ME! #1], [CLICK ME! #2].
