This was honestly a lovely surprise while we were visiting the New York Public Library. I’d only seen pictures of the original toys floating around on the internet and had no idea they were being displayed there. They even had a recording of someone reading parts of Winnie the Pooh playing near the display.

Something I've literally been thinking about for my entire life is how feminine coded Rabbit and Piglet from Winne the Pooh both are. Like, to the point that when I was a child I actively believed they were both girls despite reading all of the classic Pooh stories over and over enough times to definitely not miss the pronouns.

Piglet is pink and has so much anxious girl energy and Rabbit is the ultimate busybody housekeeper. It's cool that we get to see those traits in male characters, but it's always kind of left me wondering why A.A. Milne didn't just make them female--especially because the only actual female character is Kanga.
