Hordak and the Unnamed One in SPOP
As in the title, it's interesting it's specifically noted that in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Hordak started out as literally Unnamed (something noted in the series) and only took on the name Hordak some time after coming to Etheria. Making me wonder if this is a coincidence (more probable), or a reference to a fan theory that in the 1986 Powers of Grayskull storyline, Hordak was the Unnamed One, instead of Gorpo, or as was to be the case in the 200X comics (kinda) Horde Prime. (I elaborated on this theory in my discussion with @lemaistrechat here). Though as I discussed with @toonjukka , the identity of the Unnamed One in 80s seemed to had been undecided.
SPOP did reference some obscure lore, and even maybe fan lore/theories - up to for example, in Origin of Hero, the novelization of The Sword two part pilot, Octavia, in what is meant to be an offensive and insulting joke, suggested Catra (and probably her kind) are from Beast Isle...and in gbagok's fan lore, Catra was from Beast Isle, and the book possibly referenced it in a creative way...
Still, like the Unnamed, and Hordak in He-Man and She-Ra Power Tour lead Snake Men, SPOP Hordak' forces were in large part composed of Rogelio's lizard men species, being kinda Snake Men like (if separate from them), with Rogelio and the rest of his kind seemingly being inspired by the prototype design of Rattlor, as is some of Rogelio's characterization.
Still, this would be just a reference then - Hordak rather wasn't present on ancient Eternia/Preternia, seeing it's strongly implied Hordak is relatively young in SPOP/not ancient. (Unless the portal to Despondos/Etheria transported him 500 to 1000 years into the future..., but that's just a rather a pretty improbable theory).

Lord Hordak is cautious about those who are more powerful than he is: Lawyers. Good move!
Everybody shut the fuck up I just found out Hordak canonically knows what a Time Lord is.
Thank you to @andhereisthetea and @lemaistrechat for enlightening me, I’m still laughing about this.

I wish Dare and Skeleteen had interacted with each other more.
They barely even appear in the same panel together! Across the entire Classics-Line comics, Dare and Skeleteen only appear together in 3 panels, and in only ONE(1) of them are they even interacting with each other.

I had this musing for an AU for Prince Keldor where he has Henry VIII type problems like the wife gives birth to like, four daughters, and King Miro just gives up waiting and makes Randor his successor.
Stuff like this occurs to me because I'm really interested in how tweaking a variable or two affects subsequent happenings like ripples in a pond.
Does Keldor turn into an abusive tyrant like Henry VIII before vanishing to become Skeletor or does he remain kind to his wife until he disappears?
Just stuff I think about when I'm bored.

Makes me wish I had the money and room to collect toys, because these are badass! (Most of my problem is room, I think... I mean, I have some anime stuff, particularly a lot from when I collected Trigun, but no room to display it anymore). .... I can just imagine a tableau where Hordak and some of the Gung-Ho Guns go up against She-Ra, Vash and Wolfwood! With a random Sentinel and Neo from The Matrix.... and that little Evangelion 01 shooter-toy I've got...

When Stinkor was created for Masters of the Universe, Mattel executives were told when presenting him to the cartoon studio Filmation that this was terrible and there was nothing they could do with him if he appeared but fart jokes.
A year later, the She-Ra line had a figure whose gimmick was “smells good”, and Filmation gave her one of the best episodes, “Flowers for Hordak”.
So what I want to see is a fanfic in this continuity where they meet. Hordak is plotting an invasion of Eternia, but he needs to know where Skeletor will be, so he sends scouts to grab whomever's guarding Snake Mountain and bring them in for interrogation. It's Stinkor. Hordak and subordinates have no idea how to deal with this until Perfuma waltzes into the Fright Zone to see Hordikins again.

"OH, BUT NEVER HAVE I HELD SUCH RAW POWER IN MY FISTS!"
PIC INFO: Spotlight on a splash page of Skeletor threatening the "doom of Eternia," from the pages of "MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE" Vol. 1 #3. February, 1983. DC Comics.
"I have traveled the length of the multiverse, wreaking havoc... bringing terror wherever the shadow of Skeletor's boot fell across the cowering populace. Billions of souls... countless worlds... universes beyond counting... all have fallen to my might! Oh, but never have I held such raw power in my fists!"

Inspiration for SPOP Glimmer's design
To start out, the overall design of SPOP Glimmer is quite similar to her Filmation counterpart:
Her design is also probably inspired by Filmation concept art of Glimmer, as seen in the Filmation She-Ra series bible:
There are other influenced from the series bible, that didn't make into the series proper, like Glimmer being a teen:
As well some elements of her personality:
Indeed, it also presents the idea Glimmer has multi-colored hair, like she has in SPOP. Of course, Filmation Glimmer also was quite similar to this description, but Filmation and SPOP Glimmer also have similarities in terms of personality, and even stroylines.
Glimmer's staff (in SPOP originally Micah's) is also something she had as a toy and in comics and books:
Justine Dantzer's (the creator of the most prototypical versions of She-Ra cast) very original design of Glimmer, was another possible influence - having wing-like cape (like SPOP Glimmer's cape resembles folded bird wings), or folded angel-wings (also connecting to Glimmer's angel-wings birth mark, and temporary wings she got when she assumed the role of the Queen, and full power of the Moonstone in "The Coronation") (you know, aside from being Angella's daughter), shoes with wings, and an asymmetrical motive:
(it also seems Justine Dantzer's design for Glimmer was split into Glimmer and Queen Angella)
Glimmer's hair is interesting, as it has influences outside Filmation and MOTU. Specifically, Glimmer's hairstyle for first 3 seasons, is based on that of Cutie Honey:
This was even further referenced in Glimmer's fantasy in "Roll with It", were she imagines herself as Cutie Honey-like heroine:
(It also confirms Glimmer is an Etherian equivalent of weeb XD)
Glimmer's (as does Queen Angella's) hair also have further inspiration and symbolism - they resemble the sky during dawn:
The fact Glimmer has stars in the purple part of her hair, while Angella doesn't, also signifies that during Angella rule, the stars were absent from Etheria's sky, while Glimmer, if accidentally, "returned the stars" during her rule as queen, and they stayed that way.
Glimmer's short eyebrows, also probably reference the Japanese Hikimayu tradition/fashion among the Japanese royal court and latter female (and sometimes male) aristocrats in general, of shaving or plucking natural eyebrows, and painting shorter, rounder ones :
This is probably to emphasize Glimmer's (Etherian Equivalent) of East Asian descent from Micah. This also present often in design of characters in anime, particularly of some level of noble or royal descent:
Izumo Kamiki from Blue Exorcist
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki and Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki from Naruto and Boruto.
Glimmer's design in seasons 4 and 5, is also intentionally closer to her Filmation design, but also resembles Nate Stevenson's initial design for Glimmer:

As someone who used to different takes on a 80's toy property like Transformers I've wondered what other versions of She-Ra could do. Considering how I feel SPOP is now sorta the definitive take for a entire generation of kids moving forward and will remain so for a while.
That being said.
Hot Take but I think it be kinda interesting if the next re-imagining of She-Ra was more full on Space War fantasy opera. Make the Horde the evil empire led by your Sauron leaders and what not? If your gonna re-imagine then I say do a complete one eighty to differentiate from what came before.
Does that mean Hordak is a Sauron...maybe and while that's not my cup of tea, hey I'm ok, I still have 2018 Hordak in his own pocket world.
I mean it worked for Transformers Prime (My favorite of the Transformers incarnation and my own definitive take)
But that's my take if they decided She-Ra gets another reboot.
It is a pretty diverse idea. The original She-Ra seems to have taken a lot of inspiration from Star Wars in the concept of a rebellion against a galaxy-spanning evil-empire. Certain versions of the spop-characters will always remain their own thing for me. I honestly don't think any other reimaging is going to create as perfect (perfectly imperfect!) version of Entrapta as this one did. And Hordak is just... I don't think we're ever going to get the unique, vulnerable villain like we got with him this time. I don't think we'll ever get a Double Trouble that's quite so extra, or a Light Hope that gives me "Fi from Skyward Sword" vibes quite as much. Adora was fun in the original, but not quite as delightfully goofy as in the reboot, while also wrestling with the crushing weight of a supposed destiny. Or Prime being such a worms-the-way-under-the-skin cult leader as he was. The characters in the Spop-imagining are unique. You spoke before about Hordak being a particularly malleable character though the franchise. I love the original, goofy-somewhat-incompetent-I-am-evil-har-har villain of the '80s (seriously has some of the BEST lines), but my heart was fully-captured by our brooding conflicted clone-boy. None are going to be quite like either of them and if a future adaptation were to go with something like 2002 He-Man and make a scary Sauron-type of guy, that could be a very cool interpretation in its own right. They'll be "someone named the same as my blorbo" in the end, rather than my blorbo, but it could be interesting to see what is done with the basic concept of cyborg-bat-monster-from-beyond-the-stars-sub-manager-of-an-evil-empire. You're right - they all kind of exist in their own mini-dimensions, only loosely connected.

rebloggin both because of the usefulness of this doc and because, well shit, I didn't know Mattel was also a part of the companies to be boycotted for doing Zionist Bullshit (They're at the bottom, for the record)
That's gonna be saddening to @therobotmonster, and for those who know the industry better, it's probably worth compiling a list of MotU Origins alternatives for those who're saddened at this turn of events too.
Tho I will point out in terms of ethical alternatives to MotU, @therobotmonster is in fact likely going to be one of them, given he has an old MotU-like 3d printable action figure sculpt he's updating to be better for more conventional PLA (He's already done the update for the riding beast, which is available now for free), so keep an eye on his Cults3d page for those!
A reminder that Jazwares CEO - the company behind toy brands like Kellytoy, Squishmallows, Bum Bumz, Hello Kitty, Pokemon (in North America), Nerf, and many others - is a staunch supporter of Israel, with half of their recent intern cohort from Reichman University being called back to fight in the IOF. Not only this, but he and his wife Laura are working with the organization known as Brothers For Life that gives aid to Israeli soldiers, as well as supporting the infamous Canary Mission, which is responsible for doxxing pro-Palestinian students.
Buying new Jazwares products is going towards a CEO who supports genocide, please continue to boycott Jazwares brands and seek out alternative brands or strictly buy from secondhand sources when looking for new gifts for yourself or your loved ones. Do not continue to put money in Jazwares's pockets.
