Care bears. The son of No Heart au
The good eggnog:
*Noheart, Noel, Beastly, Shreeky, Robbie, and Bluster, hanging out in a gaming room, live streaming Sonic Adventure 2 around Christmas time*
Noel: *playing the game*
Bluster: *chilling on the couch between Shreeky and Noel, watching Noel play*
Noheart: *in the kitchen*
Beastly: *upstairs grabbing something*
Robbie: *In the other room*
Shreeky: *reading back the live chat* ...Also, "Brock Jones" says,"Noel is a great friend. He saved Wonderheart Bear from Bluster."
Bluster: Hey!
Noheart *from the kitchen*: Hey guys!
Noel: What's up, dad?
Noheart: They have the good eggnog!
Shreeky: Oh! Uncle Noheart found the good eggnog
Noel: Wait... there's eggnog in the--.... DAD!I DON'T THINK THAT EGGNOG IS GOOD!
Shreeky: *turns to Bluster* Bluster, is the eggnog good?
Bluster: Umm.. I'll.. I'll go check? *gets up and walks to the kitchen*
Noheart: Yeah, make sure it's not poisoned. That'd be great.
Bluster: .. Very funny -_-
--------------------------------------
* A few minutes later, Noheart came into the room to watch Noel play the game, Beastly came down and took over for Shreeky with the live chat, Bluster spent the entire few minutes looking for an expiration date on the eggnog carton *
Noel: ....Speaking of which. *turns to the kitchen* Hey, Bluss! How's that eggnog doing??
Bluster *from the kitchen*: I- I'm about to try it! Uhhh.... *takes a sip of it*
....
AUHHGH!!! *drops the carton*
* Everyone looks over to the kitchen in surprise and concern *
*Bluster starts violently gagging and spits into the sink*
Noel: *Pauses the game* Are you okay, dude!?
Bluster: *falls over, supporting himself against the wall coughing violently*
* Everyone stares in silence *
Beastly: Somebody needs to help this guy, I think that stuff was expired!!
Bluster: GAHHOH SWEET MOTHER OF THE SILVER LINING!!! *stumbles out of the kitchen*
*Robbie comes in to see what all the yelling is about*
Shreeky: Oh! Oh no!
*Bluster slams the bathroom door behind himself*
Noel: *turns to everyone* He just shut himself into the bathroom, guys. Oh no.
Robbie: What was all that about!?
Noheart: Shreeky prompted your boss to taste test eggnog I found in the refrigerator that we now know is WAY over the expiration date.
Shreeky: it didn't even look like he was just being dramatic about it
Beastly: *looks at the live chat* "Bruno Argrehtta" suggests that we toss that eggnog out right now.
Robbie: Y-y'know what? I'm gonna go do that. Oh my God! Wow!!

nobleheart and trueheart are nonbiney and in love. they told me in person
most people remember noble and true being solid colors because that’s how they look in the old cartoons, of course, but my designs are modeled after toy versions of them! they were usually made with marbled pastel rainbow-y fur that i think is really pretty :>

This started as a drawing of some shorttalls that NEED to exist, but then turned into a full blown drawing. Then, one of the littles decided this had to be Him™ even though the hair style is totally wrong for him lol.
Anyways, so pretend the star actually looks like a care bear star, and that the flower is a sunflower and embroidered on. Wouldn't those be great shorttalls?? Need them.
Care Bear stars for context:

On Nostalgia
So, the Oxford dictionary of English defines ‘nostalgia’ to be “a sentimental longing or wistful affection for a period in the past”. Can’t say I disagree with this more positive take on the term. Too often (imo) do I hear about the act of being nostalgic to be a negative thing, something only old people day dreaming of “working on mysteries without a clue” while being “…barely seventeen” and “barely dressed” (thanks to Mr. Seger and Mr. Loaf for those respective references) do. An ex partner of mine certainly thought being nostalgic a “sad” thing. And I suppose I was almost inclined to agree. After all, remember Jack and Diane? We have Mr. Mellencamp to thank for instilling in us a sort of dark anxiety about getting too caught up in the past.
To those nostalgia-is-negative Nancy’s, I say, lighten up! Surely there’s nothing wrong with praising the past. Well, maybe not “praising”—though, couldn’t one argue many religions to be nostalgic for a person or place of another time? (I’m looking at you, JC). Anyway, I didn’t start writing to get all controversial or biblical or political or whatever. Honestly, I just like old stuff. Novelties that are still novel. Much like Madonna, I tend towards being a “material girl”. Am I ashamed of this? Eh, maybe I don’t like the “materialistic” label. But 1980’s Care Bear figurines? Radical.
Was it not some great philosopher that talked about the past and…eh. I guess it’s been awhile since I was in skewl. And honestly, I’d rather just quote song lyrics, anyway: “I’m here for a good time, not a long time”. If you’ve read this far, hey. Thanks. Stay tuned for further garbledee-goop on everything from the aforementioned 1980’s Care Bear figurines (they were poseable!) to why shrubs are indeed empathetic.
Regards,
The Empathetic Shrub
