Thank you so much for bringing Quackerjack and Claire back together! Especially after that tearjerker ending from the comic.

I always thought that the person Quackerjack had the most connection with was Megavolt (which is why I'm not surprised people pair them up^^'), so if Claire were canon in the series, it makes me wonder what Megavolt would be like with his best friend's girlfriend^^

Maple is like her mom and has her father's style of his jester aesthetic. Her brother Somni is mostly like his father except he mostly falls asleep. He likes anything that has a soft material and would sleep on it whether it is a pillow or a plush

Maple lives with her mom. While lil Somni lives with his toymaker father

Somni is named that because the lil guy is always asleep and drowsy during the jester's plans

Characters <3 (OG Ask Game)

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

(This is going to be a paragraph be prepared)

So first of, Darkwing's honestly just really funny. He is the smartest idiot you'll ever meet (The 'breadcrumb on the bridge' scene lives rent free in my head iykyk). He has such a based disguise, but somehow also no swag (at least three villainesseses have fallen for him regardless). He survives purely out of luck and children's-cartoon-protagonist-powers. He saves lives every night and no one respects him. His name is Male Duck. THE character of all time

Also, Darkwing has quite...interesting morals. Like, he isn't gonna kill people, but he also doesn't really care, if they just so happen to die (this is canon) He's also incredibly self-absorbed, to the point it can interfere with how he interacts with other people (though he's also masking his insecurities and trauma, which on that note, I'm a sucker for a sad backstory), but that doesn't mean he doesn't care

With that said, MAN Darkwing CARES. That man got a family in the span of one day, and was immeditaely ready to die for them. Even if he can be clouded by his own ego, he loves Launchpad, and he loves Gosalyn, and he loves being a hero, and he loves being a dad, and he loves being a friend His interactions with Nega-Gosalyn uhwefiohusdf you can not expect me to be normal about that! I will never shut up about Darkly Dawns the Duck, or Steerminator, or Crisis of Infinite Darkwings, I simply can't Not even mentioning the fact that, after years off being completely absorbed into his hero-identity and completely shutting himself of from society, Launchpad is the first person he trusts so completely, he reveals his identity to him. He doesn't just let him into his life as a sidekick, but explicitly as a member of his new family

But (and this is prob one of my favourite tropes any superhero-media can do ever), Darkwing is also shown to care about his villains, though more so in the comics, than the show Of course - one of my favourites - "Dawn of the Day of the Return of the Living Spud". When Darkwing decides to call Bushroot by his first name, to just completely level with him as a person. The situation requires urgency and action, but he knows why Reginald can't do it. He has seen how far that man was willing to go for company, he knows how lonely he is. Darkwing can't force him, so he reasons with him, because Bushroot is not imcapable of being reasoned with. And then even once Posey has already been defeated, and so the stakes are no longer there, Darkwing checks up on him again. He obviously cares about how Reggie is feeling after this. Because while he might think the entire potato-wife-plan was crazy, he can understand how important it was to Bushroot, and how he was forced to kill the only living being he thought came close to being like him

Then there's of course also the entire thing with Quackerjack in "Toy with Me", and Claire humbling him with the idea that Quackerjack (and villains in general), are people beyond what Darkwing sees them as. And while he unfortunately never really got the chance to talk it out with QJ, both times Darkwing had that moment of "trust me, I get it" (For Bushroot it was the loneliness, for QJ wanting to be better than everyone else) And characters like Darkwarrior Duck prove that Darkwing is not above becoming a villain himself, if the circumstances were right. It shows that - to an extent ofc - being a villain or not depends on luck, and is not some unavoidable destiny In some aspects, he's not all too different from them

I love Darkwing Duck, I know that may not have been obvious /j

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

I'm sure this also exists internationally, though I'm not sure to which extent, but here in Germany there's a pretty well-known children's book series called "Conni"

Most of these books are just about a young Conni either expieriencing new things for the first time and learning about them, or learning how to deal with new emotions

And while Jonas is definitely older than Conni is in most of these books:

1. I'm pretty sure if I take Jonas out of his "squeeky-clean" and organized society and put him in anything with too much action, he will explode

2. Because of the whole 'discovering new memories' thing, I think Jonas would actually quite profit from and enjoy learning about all these "mundane" things with Conni. He'd basically just get to have a semi-normal childhood

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

At first I was a little stumped at this one, but then it hit me like a truck

I Deserve to Bleed, by Sushi Soucy

That man carries so much guilt and blame within himself, he is Not Okay. He still blamed mostly himself after Kalagan blew up his home

I truly believe that after everything he did in the books, if Kalagan had abandoned his plan even a little early, and made up with Dante, he would have accepted it in a heartbeat, because he was so haunted by his actions, he would have done anything to get back what he once had

"Sympathy and love, we can extent to someone else But it's harder, when you have to love yourself"

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

Oh, I should really re-read the books somewhen. I do have to admit, I don't remember that much about Theo, unfortunately (minus his arcs in the third book, but I have opinions about how those were handled by the plot)

Though from the things I do remember, his "secret" in the fourth book sticks out the most to me. The fact that he keeps thinking about his dove a lot, and tries to imagine what he could have done better I'm also someone who tends to overthink on past scenarios, and how they could have been handled better/differently, especially if I think, I could have fault in said situation

21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?

I have yet to actually write a proper MM-Fic tbh, so I'm using this oppurtunity to talk about Good Uncle Sly a little bit

Because as I have said once before, I'd like the Kalagans to connect with the Misfits a little bit, using something that they share (for Theo it's family expectations, Ridley using caution and distrust in order to keep people safe, etc.) For him and Leila, I would get them to connect over their respective times in the orphanage. Because no one in these books who went to an orphanage came out alright (/lh)

So I guess, in one way or another, you could say I like writing a bit more about Leila's trauma. I think trauma exploration in characters is always fun

24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?

I've mentioned this before in passing, but definitely Kilroy and Kincaid, but also Olly and Izzy

Like, Flim and Flam are not evil! At best, they're mean. The worst thing they did imo, was sell fake medicine, otherwise they're just petty scammers and jerks (and in their very first appearance, they weren't even scammers, technically!). But they are very much still schemy business boys

But of course, they have this inherent togetherness. It is literally baked into their characters, looking at their cutie marks; like, those boys were never gonna go off and each do their own thing Like honestly? The whole thing Kincaid does, where he turns himself in to be with his brother, because there is no way to get him out? I could see Flim and Flam doing that

Though I'm throwing Olly and Izzy in here too, because the Kalagans are just slightly missing the very important showman-ship aspect Flim and Flam have. Like don't get me wrong, they are magicians, and they put on "shows", when they rob people. But the way the Goldens perform is just a lot more reminiscent, of how Flim and Flam do it, especially when it comes to overall energy and vibe. You could throw all four of them into the same routine, and they would ace it. Also, both of them are rocking the Barbershop-Quartet fit; straw hats and striped jackets and all

And lastly, they are of course all rocking the Identical Twin Swag (well, Olly and Izzy are fraternal ig, but you get what I mean :P )

Alright, I reread the comic and I just need to talk about it because since I've read it, that one was actually my favorite because it gave the characters more depth.

I always loved Darkwing Duck. The thing about Darkwing is that he is not your usual hero. He is an extremely flawed individual, the king of black and white thinking.

When he first appears in the comic, he acknowledges that Quackerjack has become worse than ever. He does admit that he stoops to lows they have never seen him do before.

"That security footage of him taking out that crimebot was disturbing enough and the way he treated his former ally Megavolt was worse."

Keep in mind, Quackerjack dismantled that robot with his bare hands during his rage. Note that even Darkwing is disgusted in how he treated Megavolt.

Quackerjack has always been dangerous and unpredictable but he is right that things have become worse with him.

But Claire actually calls him out on his usual black and white view regarding the scoundrels. She's right.

It's nothing more than a back and forth. Quackerjack does crimes, he ends up in prison, he breaks out, repeat. It doesn't actually solve anything, it doesn't get him the help he needs. He doesn't learn anything from it.

So when Claire manages to convince him?

"I promise you I want to stop Quackerjack. Not just this plan, but to end this bitter streak he is on."

"I'll do more than that. I'll save a man."

A man.

Not just a villain. A person. He is going to save a person who lost himself in bitterness. The lines above Claire's hand imply that she is trembling. She is hesitating. But she does give him Mr. Banana Brain. Darkwing just stands there silently, patient.

He makes this a solo mission. Why?

Easy. So that he can give Quackerjack some space. So that Quackerjack doesn't have to feel cornered. This was something that's supposed to be just the two of them.

He is actually using a psychological approach here. Using his old friend in hopes that he will come to his senses. He is trying to talk Mr. Banana Brain to him.

Quackerjack is a stuttering mess upon seeing his beloved doll again. When Negaduck destroyed it, he just perceived it that the old Mr. Banana Brain is dead now. He didn't fix him. Instead, he just made himself an entirely new one - one that suited better for the new Quackerjack as well.

The old banana brain is dead. So to see him all fixed up? It's a surprise.

And again - there are lines near the hand. Quackerjack is in fact trembling while dealing with conflicted feelings.

He looks back and forth. Darkwing is not even making a move. He is not saying anything else. He is patient, giving Quackerjack the space he needs right now.

Unfortunately, they get interrupted. This is exactly why Darkwing wanted to go solo for this; Quackerjack needed the space here, not any sudden moves. Just like Darkwing, he jumps in surprise and even drops his doll in shock. That's when he lashes out and goes back to business. It still makes me wonder what would have happened if these guys didn't suddenly came storming in.

So then here. Through his shenanigans, the two dolls become alive by accident and huge and are now fighting over Quackerjack to a point where they almost tear him apart (Darkwing even looks above in the next panel, actually worried for him) and this whole scenario puts him in so much distress that he genuinely screams out for help.

Convenient that exactly this is what makes him stop his plan. When Darkwing saves him and he flies out of the window, he doesn't go back. He just runs away to turn himself into a doll. The two Banana Brain's fighting over him definitely screwed him up more.

That is also what gets me.

"I've been thinking about that one. Real hard."

He really took the time for that. To find the right words, to get himself into Quackerjack's mind and perhaps even realized tha in some aspects, he can relate. And the thing is? What he is saying? I love it. You can tell that he really thought hard about it. That for once, he actually wanted to help Quackerjack.

"But when you only use a mallet to solve your problems, all you see are nails."

"You become a toy of your own anger."

Well said, Darkwing. Well said. Darkwing put what anger feels like to me in words.

"That sort of thinking can't continue. Not when there are people like her out there, thinking about you."

It's another attempt to get him to his senses, to mention Claire. She really managed to make Darkwing think of him as an individual and not just some one dimensional villain.

Ranking Every Boom Studios DW Comic

I finished reading the Boom Studios comics a few days ago and I liked them. Some parts were kind of underwhelming, but it was still enjoyable. I can’t find the Joe Books series and I’m not sure if I should read them or not.

Anyways, here are my rankings and my short explanations:

6. Campaign Carnage

I liked this series but it was the most underwhelming. When I first heard of Suff-rage and her powers, I was super interested but she was underutilized and kind of bland. What should I expect, she’s a one-off villain.

My favorite part was the Darkwarrior Duck callback and Darkwing’s desperation to bring back Morgana. It’s nice to know that they care for each other that much; the show didn’t do a great job displaying that.

5. Dangerous Currency

The crossover was fun and cute, though the story was a bit shaky in some places like the explanation on how Negaduck is the slime/ink, and the ending was meh. I don’t mind that this arc is considered non-canon because there are small mistakes that irk me like Drake not knowing Fenton when he appeared in an episode, and Fenton’s mom not knowing her son isn’t Gizmoduck when she’s worn the suit in the show before. Those things break the immersion for me.

4. Crisis on Infinite Darkwings

This arc was so close to being number 3, but there’s a big reason why that I’ll explain later.

It was a great reference to the famous DC arc and all the other Darkwings were fun to see, especially Quiverwing Duck- his backstory is heartbreaking. I liked that we got more info on Negaduck like his disdain for not being unique and a possible tragic backstory. It was disappointing not knowing more.

The ending was pretty good with bringing back the Tron-splitter and seeing Negaduck’s evil and slightly evil sides(it was funny). The Darkwarrior Duck cameo was also really great. He’s such an underrated character and needs more attention.

And we got more Morgwing development. I may not love them, but they can be cute.

3. F.O.W.L Disposition Arc

FD almost tied with or lost to CID; however, an aspect really changed my opinion.

Morgana finally being characterized as more than a love interest.

Morgana was my second favorite female character-just below Gosalyn-but I still had issues with her. Like, 1. Her magic talent being inconsistent and 2. Only serving as a love interest. She is so interesting and could be an amazing character. It sucked that the creators didn’t give her the time.

Her strong magic power and willingness to sacrifice herself made her out to be a headstrong and powerful sorceress, which is something I wanted to see.

I also really liked that Darkwing’s weakness is showcased here- his ego- and he actually learns how detrimental it is to his work and the world’s safety. And it actually stuck throughout the rest of the series afterwards.

2. The Duck Knight Returns

I loved this arc! It was such a great start to the comics! 😍

First, it tackled a situation the show barely touched- what if DW had to quit crime fighting long term. “Toy Czar Us” kind of tackled this though it was very short. We see how much not being Darkwing does to Drake, he’s depressed and disconnected. His intense ego diminished.

Another thing I love was actually seeing how much Launchpad mattered to Drake. We see him having flashbacks with his close friend and getting upset when something reminds him of their adventures. Drake sometimes even calls Launchpad just to hear his voice. It makes my big Drakepad heart beat even harder, and it’s nice to know that their friendship is not one-sided.

Also, having Megavolt and Darkwing as co-workers was amazing. Peak comedy!

The only thing that’s keeping me from giving this arc a perfect score is Negaduck finding out DW’s secret identity. Mostly how it was handled afterwards. Negaduck finds out his alter ego, even goes to house, yet after that he doesn’t take advantage of that info seriously.

1. Darkwing Annual- Quackerjack’s story

I love love love this story! 😍😍😍

Quackerjack is one of those villains that interests me since we see his origin story like Megavolt’s and Bushroot’s. We get to see more into his mindset and what drove him crazy, such as the discredit he gets for his toy ideas.

Although I’m a Quackervolt shipper, I really like Claire and she was a good way to introduce the less villainous side, and make you feel bad for Quackerjack.

It’s also nice to see Darkwing actually have sympathy for his enemies. I’ve always seen Darkwing and his enemies being kind of the same; they are people who want to be noticed but do it in different ways.

The ending was also amazing yet heartbreaking. We can see Quackerjack contemplating what he has done as he’s walking to Claire’s door. Then we see a red glow and Claire opening the door to a Quackerjack toy. He’s regrets everything he has done and thinks he’s only good enough as a toy. That is so sad and relatable. We’ve always had times when we’ve doubted our worth. This story gives Quackerjack more layers in an enticing story. This gives it a perfect score. It also benefits being a solo comic rather than a series like the others.

Alright it's almost Hispanic Heritage month again yall. Here's a list of Animated characters that I, a Latina, cried over when I found out they were Latin American

For clarification, "Found out" means, having no previous knowledge of said characters and within the context of the show/movie they are confirmed Latin American.

(From the perspective of a Costa Rican 🇨🇷 specifically)

The entire Madgrial Family (Encanto)

The moment I saw the teaser trailer for Encanto I started crying. I was so BEYOND EXCITED to see real, true, positive beautiful Latin American representation in a Disney movie. I'm not even Colombian but seeing something like this become so popular made me so happy. Being able to fully understand "Dos Orugitas" in Spanish just hits so different, its not the same in English. It's such a beautiful step for Latin American representation, and I'm so excited to see what comes next for us. (Still holding out for my Latina Disney princess tho. And no, Elena doesn't count) I've also been told I look just like Mirabel and seeing a character that looks like me in a Disney movie just made my heart soar.

Luz Noceda (The Owl House)

Bruh a bisexual Latina with mommy issues AND she's bilingual??? She's just like me fr.

Lance McClain (V*ltron Legendary Defender)

He was my absolute favorite character in V*ltron and I will NEVER forgive them for ruining his arc and making him sad forever. He deserved a happy ending. He's NOT "just a boy from Cuba", he's so important and lovely.

Miles Morales (Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse)

I'm not a comic book reader, so Into the Spiderverse was the first time I met Miles. Finding out he was Afro Latino made me heart soar. He's a sweet boy, such a good character in the movie, and definitely deserved the Oscar. Can't wait for the sequel.

Claire Nuñez (Tales of Arcadia)

Claire is literally such a badass. She's amazing, an amazing character, her story with Jim is beautiful. Love it when she's speaks Spanish. 10/10 character (Watch Tales of Arcadia it's really good)

People were giving Vivziepop shit accusing her of making Vaggie the "angry Latina stereotype) and I couldn't disagree more. Vaggie is perfectly fine as a character, and I can't wait to see what they do with her in the official Hazbin Hotel series!!

• Isabella Garcia-Shapiro (Phineas and Ferb)

Phineas and Ferb was the first fandoms I was ever in, and Isabella holds such a special place in my heart. Love her to pieces

• Marco Diaz (Star vs. The Forces of Evil)

Svtfoe was also one of the first fandoms I was in, so seeing one of the leads be portrayed as Mexican made 12 year old me so happy.

• Miguel Rivera (Coco)

Coco is such a beautiful movie, and I ONLY watch it in Spanish. Miguel is such a sweet and special boy, he really brought the joy of music back into his family.

• Soos (Jesus) Alzamirano Ramirez

Gravity Falls was ALSO one of the first fandoms I was in (PnF, GF, and Svtfoe were my main 3 for a time), and finding out this loveable goof was Latino made me really happy

• Princess Elena Castillo Flores

Now she may not be an official Disney princess (she doesn't meet all the requirements to be part of the franchise) but that doesn't mean she isn't excellent representation for young children. Although the show doesn't represent one specific Latin American country/culture, the show does have bits and pieces of many different LatAm cultures, and even some indigenous inspiration here and there with all the mythology aspects. It isn't perfect, but I do still appreciate Elena's presence in Disney.

Do you think Claire has a chance of becoming a villain alongside Quackerjack? Like a Harley Quinn? It's just that I've heard that this could happen in the comics and seen that some people went that way.

If I'm honest, I don't think that would ever happen. Why? Because Claire, although she understands why Quackerjack is different and she considers there is goodness in him, she doesn't quite justify it. She doesn't agree with his actions, especially when they started to get out of control, but she understands him.

Even she wanted him to go back to "the way he was before", but not referring to when he wasn't a villain, but "to the good times", when he really had fun. When his crimes weren't, well, serious to the point of harming people (like turning them into toys). She loves him as he is, funny and nice, but still she is not a criminal. She's just a civilian who fell in love with a villain she understands.

That's why I don't see her turning into a "Harley Queen".

And also, I don't see them in a toxic relationship (like Harley and the Joker). I feel like it was Quackerjack who broke off the relationship to continue as a villain, but when in that issue of the comic he is defeated, and feels extremely vulnerable, who does he go with? With Megavolt and his friends? To some old base where his beloved toys are? No, he goes to where Claire is, even though they had been separated for a long time. He still loves her, and has never hurt her by being a villain. But in that moment of weakness and exhaustion, he preferred to "be at peace like a useless toy" with the only person with whom he knows he will be safe.
