After flipping the switch on Megavolt in last month's debut issue, Darkwing Duck transforms here into the Terror That Claps in the Night when his adopted daughter Gosalyn is cast in a school play! True, it's only a small role (Gos and her friend Honker are portraying pieces of shrubbery), but it proves to be a pivotal part when the packed house comes under attack on opening night by the sappiest member of the Fearsome Five – BUSHROOT!

(Note: The last one says Darkwing Duck comics. He's also in the new Justice Duck comic series, but since it's the same one, I didn't add that version of him in.)

I think this nails down pretty well the main difference between Darkwing and Negaduck: Darkwing is able to let go of his pride when necessary and sees the strength in the genuine relationships he has with others whereas Negaduck mostly looks out for only himself and he is too prideful to consider friends and family as something important even if maybe part of him wants that deep down.

Both are very similar in plenty of ways for being Drake but Negaduck represents what Darkwing would be if he tried detaching himself for every relationship he has and didn't see the value in them.

Issue 5 of the Dynamite Entertainment DW comics

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad the Quack Pack hasn't been forgotten. Yes, Huey, Dewey and Louie are here. All the kids (including Gosalyn and Honker in the background) seem to be somehow under the spell of something. By the way, I recommend reading the Darkwing Duck Dynamite Edition comics and I can tell you it is very good. I hope there will be comics about Donald and his nephews meeting Darkwing Duck. :D

I was waaaay too curious, so I clicked to view image and...

What’s your favorite Darkwing Duck comic?

It had a Fantastic Four parody (it was my introduction to them actually) a doppelgänger for Steelbeak who was never properly explained, and it showcased everything I love about Darkwing Duck, Launchpad McQuack, and Gizmoduck, without straying from their canon personalities.

I also enjoyed “Mondo The Mad Mask Misappropriator” for the inclusion of a retirement home for former superheroes (Gosalyn calling Darkwing “Pops” was weird), and for making a character with giant springs on his shoes both funny and believably menacing. https://www.tumblr.com/darkwingcomics/631727348871479296/mondo-the-mad-mask-misappropriator-disney

“Busman’s Holiday” was too short and hilarious. “Legend of the Choas God” is one that stood out and stuck with me for decades. It’s the first story that had multiple Disney Afternoon shows crossover and it had a brief acknowledgment in the Ducktales Reboot with a book mentioning Solego, the character who tied this series together. Here is the first comic in the series. I am glad the Fluffy stories got acknowledged in a revamp not too many years ago (link to the creator of the comics and his commentary! Super cool! https://href.li/?http://mongomblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/darkwing-duck-cat-in-hot-tin-suit.html). I have not gotten any of the current Dynamite comics so I can not comment on those. I’ve only seen those in passing here on tumblr.
