#cinema!!! and it's tv. i'm just so like Yeah the ''this is going to fuck'' is really successfully contained in these initial scenes huh.

would have too much to say that inevitably repeatedly breaking things up into tweets wouldn't be a pain but already going back like, lets check out andor episode one again in full true connoisseur mode and i'm not pressed if i make it into a proper in order rewatch, also when the bonus for me is that i'm always more likely to better keep track of names or faces or pick up on something that was supposed to be like a straightforward plot moment or whatever else, right, though i didn't have any especial problem with that. anyways i'm just already like oh this entire first sequence fucks, and i didn't really go into this that skeptically but do remember like yeah first time around it was like with this intro premise alone like ah i see this fucks then
like first of all an initial shot choice that is stylish, which tells us that there will be stylishness. fun that the couple evil [police procedural] characters are great at being pathetic zero charisma soaking creepy & wet disgusting in their own special ways, but cassian is getting rained on all the time he's cutting the plumbing line he swam here soaking wet literal treatment
things feeling figuratively and literally grounded (walking, only seeing that walkway, streetview, no soaring establishing shot to show This Isn't Your Ordinary City (scifi edition)) like, also still clear enough it's scifi but really with the Magical Realism type of approach, which i do imagine i enjoy more
the scoring is so good. BANGER of a track used when walking into the bar, also used later when dropped into the introduction of his beach getaway new life scene, brief as it is. the sexy edm style track, and it Is also like "well i mean. sure then" getting so far into this scene before it's evident like oh you're not actually here to have sex. pretty flirtatious w/this proprieter but it's like, maybe discreetly acting natural, maybe just acting naturally for real and it's just like that, we've all been there re Blend In, Follow Their Lead as a rule for operating anywhere ever, presumably relevant here, the Everyone's Wary nature of the whole series....tbt talking about jyn like yeah idk maybe her brand of wariness that's not charismaticly intense enough nor closed offedly intense enough is like, itself confusing or whatever but absolute "what's not to get or like" sense from me, and naturally cassian cropping up like it's your wary kindred spirit
anyways then having fun in there. looking at the required sexy hologram dancer like hmm they're a little space androgynous. a little space gnc af. the guys who are just immediately pissed off b/c the supposed new customer is getting preference. the delay after the proprieter lady is like Behave to them and cassian looks at her, then them. his immediate brooking no nonsense w/the two as soon as they're all hostile mode at him about all of it, at least in terms of like, not playing it utterly neutral. the It's Political times of him asking about a woman from kenari, proprieter lady going for both a) how about this other planet of origin and [names an inferred similar feature] as well as this kind of establishes already that [from kenari] can be space racially profiled, since cassian doesn't have to explicitly confirm that's where he's from too, and her inferring this is a Preference that can be catered to around physical features, and certainly once cassian's Wanted about this, the urgency around maarva & co asking who they've ever told that cassian's from kenari is sure like ah, space borders, space immigration, space [indeed the racial profiling when the soaking is he creepy or wet pathetic heinous cop pulls up an Image], the repeated like space colonialism and space indigeneity and space resource extraction that gets to come up more with [i've been in this fight since i was six years old] flashbacks....it's great like, the magical realism aspect where it's like [yeah Real Life but slight au] feeling immediately relevantly recognizable and as viscerally dramatic as you'd want, like, everyone's daily lives involving this inherent lack of safety that can turn into the stress of imminent danger on a dime. also the eventual b) asking if he's a Boyfriend or Husband like, space gender, magical realism style where it's like of course the space misogyny power disparity they'd be on the lookout for, might be vulnerable to a partner who is a space man. oh and then also the shift when he says it's his sister he's looking for, from more guarded to sympathetic when it's like, the context then isn't the woman's vulnerability being heightened if this is someone here out of like, a possessive angle, and rather that he's now not only presumably sympathetic to her as well, but potentially some of that vulnerability being extrapolated to him as well. which is not inaccurate
obsessed w/the Long Shot where cassian's getting held up by the two company sentry guys and it's him close up center frame slightly from above and just tearing it up acting while we only hear the other two for a good while until they wander in out of focus, that at first we also can't see and thus can't immediately Know they're talking to him....as well as again establishing like, yeah this is a prequel where we know our protagonist won't die no matter how [people are definitely dying] the situations are, yeah we know he's cool action guy even, but he's not operating in a story here where it's all about his protracted solo epic action sequences, he wants to avoid those, other people want to avoid those, everyone's better off operating more stealth mode if they can help it, but also that it doesn't matter to him that We know he's not gonna die, he doesn't know it, and Everyone knowing those stakes and reacting to the stress rather than being like stoic too epic to be at all fazed badasses. d luna crushing it, everyone's great but yeah sure acting as hell huh
also this time around i was just so much more noticeably affected by like oh i feel bad for this guy who's realizing his buddy who also sucks is dead and now that he's in over his head majorly life and death....everyone acting in every part is just going ham like bevy of these varied performances in varied roles and nobody dropping the ball in the least. while it's obvious too that like, feels bad for the panicky source in rogue one intro as well but cassian can't give much away then b/c he's not the protagonist and it's all very mysterious at this point. and that in addition to upping the surprise, it's presumably nonzero meant to be a kindness from him to take the time to comfort the guy before then blowing him away. whereas here the guy sees it coming and like, really brought this upon yourselves and you made this potentially life or death for cassian from the start, as he was aware, but this time it's like yeah cassian wasn't expecting that to turn into [bad luck, that headbutt killed you. and/or also the fall] and is Not so mysterious to us so can be clearly surprised and less than thrilled about things as well....but feels apropos that also w/ this intro of these two rando sentry guys from the bar who the proprietor was like yeah they're not really cops but they annoyingly like to act like it, it can be a bit more genuinely pathetic vs the Pathetic(tm) quality of the like imperial space feds characters. like oh i do feel bad for this guy and all the time he has here to plead for his life :( but doesn't feel like it's meant to be some [dun dunnn?] moment re cassian b/c it's like, tells us the stakes, tells us he's not fucking around and Will shoot someone but we've also been told he's not like here to be, or feel, badass invincible, is not unaffected by fear of death nor of having killed someone / death in general, but also Will be blowing you away if need be, also speaking to like, he's run calculations before abt like, whaddaya gonna do, what are the risks and which are you willing to take, and obviously has fought before and if he's ever killed someone before it wouldn't be surprising, some like "my god i've never done that before / now i'm out for blood, never look back" factor does not seem to be relevant. but fr was fun to be surprised by like oh i feel bad for this guy this time around lol noticeably much more than affected me the first time around. true [oops in over your head] vibes but which also then speak to like, yeah probably would've stopped pretending to be cops, just feels like yeah he's more distant from [uh oh, attention from Empire cops now] figures so it's like, ah, you bring it upon yourself but. i'm not quite sure what got me this time around lol, again i guess just more ability to focus on details and thee moment b/c i'm not like, needing to intently devote my attention to potentially following names and faces and plotlines b/c it's the opening scene here and don't get lost before things even happen. maybe it's having subtitles on where i'm all the more sure of the dialogue and him talking about "we'll go in together" has me like "there but for your fucking around, no need for this, i remember the vaguely friendly acknowledgment before your egos were bruised and you got hostile about it and escalated it to This" maybe it's even him offering a story and phrasing it like "we played too hard in hitting" when i have this like, vulnerable association lol like if anyone's upset / distressed enough And there's the immediate proximity / presence of something meant to be like, purely fun, where even talking about Playing may be enough to be like oh no lol, even when that's not really what happened. again, the acting from everyone, maybe it's just focusing all the more on that, wherein truly epic seeming distressed and miserable, maybe it also helps that we also get shots of more diego luna acting which is also to the effect of: pretty distressed and miserable, soaking wet. i dunno but i'm like hell yeah being all the more caught up in whatever.
also that this was like, oh a seeming potential thread establishment? and of course "whoops killed two guys" is indeed an established thread, the [looking for his sister] remaining latent as the setup to that inciting event and otherwise like, just something he does, characterization and [backstory thread] relevant, but only that. and yet, the way that opening scenes are generally meant to do, this whole sequence conveying plenty about how things are going to be, establishing overall contexts, thee vibe, that the soundtrack fucks, that nobody's messing around here in the least like. just as these first minutes didn't have to go so hard, so neither will the rest of the series have had to. i also didn't have to say all this or post at all but i get hype and when i have anything to say i really do. no concision. oh shit and we end with like the directional reverse of the first opening stylish shot but w/cassian in frame as well yeahh boyyee
#oh word? concision Is a word?#i know twitter is more so the place to talk about Your Damn Shows but i don't exactly do it correctly even there lmfao#like i said abt the fact having to make this some unwieldy thread over there is more so an inconvenience for Me lmao#if i said shit only b/c i thought it would be relevant to absolutely anyone. like i know ppl righteously Know this series fucks lol but#posting is about following your heart. what tf else am i about to do on my soshe accounts; or Have i been doing#so fun to have stumbled into the path of ''so true? this fucks?'' in that it sure wasn't a guarantee i went & saw rogue one. then rogue 986#(the 985th viewing or what have you lol) then going I See re being aware this series exists; marinating; being readily talked into it if#like months later. somehow i didn't realize it came out...end of last summer??? early last fall??? not like i knew abt it ahead of time tho#thought i was a couple months behind lol but....anyways. love when either media is like oh nice i loved Or hated that in such a way that it#is then the enrichment of ''i could be giving a running [emphatic pointing at laptop continuous talking] commentary constantly here'' lol#anyways when the post exists already like aaaand send. what with it being me i'm certain i could've finished the ep while writing this lmao#the path of A Lot To Say The Hype Drive To Say It The Concision That's Not An Option the Posts Were Always Gonna Be Talking To Yourself And#If That's Relevant To Anyone As Collateral Bennies Then That's Fun But If It's Irrelevant To Everyone Then That Is Life#cinema!!! and it's tv. i'm just so like Yeah the ''this is going to fuck'' is really successfully contained in these initial scenes huh.#i keep calling it a bar(tm) but it's not pretending to not obv be a brothel that also technically sure is a bar#but it just feels kind of either awkwardly technical or [ofc the cops are the ones adding more confirmation calling it a Brothel] lol like.#andor

✨ episode 1/2 - running commentary✨
- ok so im slightly disappointed that it's the eps i watched in the screening BUT IM DETERMINED TO LOVE IT ANYWAY SO WE REMAIN OPTIMISTIC AND WE MOVE~~
- angel crowley is so young and innocent my poor boy he's been through so much
- like now im watching it, it feels like putting it in a cinema was a Bad Choice and maybe that's why I didn't like it??? it feels way more authentic and cosy on tv
- im sorry but crowley sounds like such an old man in the park scene, "frozen peas... it's good for them too🙂"
- seriously this is so much more palatable on tv format i can't get over it
- OH MAGGIE I LOVE YOU
- aziraphale god bless ur little cotton socks
- god crowley's legs got me SWEATIN
- ugh crowleys hand in the cafe is so FRUITY
- lmao "purely selfish action" aziraphale is so self aware and I love it
- no im sorry but goob is the fucking star of the show you cannot change my mind but dialogue and delivery wise he is currently CARRYING
- Dartmoor mention had me creasing, that's literally on my doorstep
- aziraphale's bitchy ass face then he sits down in the backroom honestly watered my crops and healed nature
- okay im sorry but the dialogue is still a little off for me I won't lie💀
- beelzebub's accent is just 😘👌 perfect, but equally feel like they'd be perfect in a production of oliver
- god believe me i feel for nina but... I... do not like her, and they are NOT suited for each other at all
- I LEARNT MY PASSION IN THE GOOD OLD FASHIONED SCHOOL OF LOVER BOYS
- that dance is so low effort I'm sorry it should have been the macarena or cha cha slide
- crowley's bow tho is so hot he's so graceful he looks like a swan
- and yeah the refs to the other years that aziraphale did the dance is GIVING ME HEART PALPITATIONS ugh
- he and goob are like cats on a hot tin roof like IMMEDIATE hissing vibes
- lmao ok so that episode does end there then... such a weird ending im sorry but yeah let's fully retract the alternate episode theory (but @prime you need to hire me for s3 just a thought bc 👀)
- anyway ep2 I'm sorry but the angelic herald speech thing is cute and funny but also so cringe hmmm
- gabriel is lord farquaad ugh
- I HAVE TO REMEMBER THIS IS A COMEDY UGH but i miss the slightly serious undertones in s1 sob god I hope they come back later on
- UGH THE TURTLENECK🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
- shax is mommy I don't make the rules
- I noted it in the screening but angel wings for earrings, Maggie????
- nice job on the lie aziraphale well done once again making excellent choices you're so smart and valid (utter moron)
- "SOUNDS A BIT UNLIKELY" LMAO GET FUCKED CROWLEY
- oh goob you really are going through it my bby I love u
- crowley's face after may god forgive you KILLS ME this scene is honestly the stand out one in both ep1 and ep2 if you ask me
- TY TY TY god bless u but you also make me so uncomfortable
- jobs youngest kid truly gives me life
- lmao the fact that aziraphale does actually recognise when crowley tempts him is hilarious tho bc he just conveniently disregards it by the bench scene in s1 hmmm character development or character regression WHO KNOWS
- ok no I'm sorry but the mukbang scene is so unnecessary and uncomfortable
- "whack the kids" honestly the best line of this scene imo, but upon reflection and rewatching it, crowley's demeanour is rather heartbreaking whilst he's reclined getting ratted
- FRANCES FRANCES FRANCES ✨💓
- 'but just to be able to ask the question' UGH CROWLEY STOP
- lmao shoemaking and obstetrics what a combo god bless
- THEY CAN ARRIVE AT ANY SIZE lmao and Michael is too sharp for their own good... but I do hate that gabriel is utterly inept, he came across as cruel and calculating if a little ignorant in s1 but not this comedically stupid
- "yes I bloody am" TY MY LOVE
- Michael sheen and David Tennant deserve nominations for the children swap scene alone, imo the strongest bit of acting in the ep im sorry 'you have my word as an angel' KILL ME
- why is nina obsessed with crowley, like I get it babes but also why
- THEY ARE SO MARRIED MT PARTNER AND I ARGUE OVER THE CAR ALWAYS "our car" LMAO 💀💀💀
- ✨✨✨IT WAS A NICE DAY, ALL THE DAYS HAD BEEN NICE✨✨✨
- ok the rock scene is so much more emotional on tv, so much better
OKAY RIGHT EP3 LETS HAVE ITTTTT

I'm super late to the party but did you watch the fallout show? And what are your thoughts? I have a few little ones like:
How well they portrayed the BOS as a militant cult
The prewar stuff. First 7 minutes of the pilot episode had me so on edge
The video-gamey hyperviolence was gross, sure, accurately translated from game to cinema
me and ray have watched about half of it and we mystery science theater-ed it the whole way and heckled the fuck out of it. needless to say, not a big fan.
but thats so funny the first prewar segment i was so pissed off. the bombs dropping immediately right next to them was written so stupid. just took out any grounding in reality and grace i had just immediately. really did set the tone for the whole thing that it would not be for me. like. i thought the sole survivor and the vault 111 people seeing and getting blasted (yet remaining perfectly fine) as they went down was stupid too. this was just ten times worse bc it was SO focused on. GAH
not even mentioning they branded the black main character on screen for no reason, named the enclave scientist directly after a real life holocaust survivor (to the point it muddies his google results) and then carried his decapitated head around as the macguffin (bc they invented a disgusting prosthetic leg to be so cruel that he killed himself over it. way to go honoring a holocaust concentration camp survivor???), the uncaring anti-recovery view on ghoul/drug recovery and weird parallels they tried to equivilate it to turning feral and drug addicts having a point of no return, plus more im sure bc we hadnt even finished the series? lots of people have written more in depth posts about the weird n bad shit the fallout tv show decided to do for some reason.
that said, i did really like in broad strokes how they were characterizing maximus and his relationship with the bos and how power and expectation and cycles of abuse corrupt. but i also havent seen how his arc ends. however the writers view that the wasteland is just a suffering machine i think fails to consider that fallout doesnt have to just be about lets blow each other up with nukes and kill each other for fun. functioning society exists in this post post apocalyptic world and theres plenty of interesting stories to be told about THAT.
i havent played classic fallouts yet but when i learned about the narrative repercussion of the original bloody mess trait, i think it fundamentally changed my view on how modern fallouts idea of gore and savagery for just the spectacle. without saying anything about it. fallout nowadays feels like it rings hollow, but the tv show tended to ring with like. really weird things to say that i wish it didnt.
anyway yeah.

I'm sad over the stupidest fucking thing ever but this is making me spiral
I am rarely ever with my dad anymore, then today since he had a day off and my mom seemed to be resting, Dad and I were going to watch something together for the first time in I don't know how long... I've mentioned before he kind of avoids being around us, mostly because of my mom tbh because she starts asking for a lot of things... and yeah I get annoyed at my dad too, but I still thought it was nice he was willing to watch this with me, especially because I haven't really had energy for much, so it was gonna be the one thing I'd watch before I would go back to working
The thing we were gonna watch doesn't interest her at all, it has subtitles and my mom doesn't like subtitles, plus she wouldn't like the subject matter either since it involves murder etc.
Anyway... my mom heard my dad and I laughing at one of the scenes (we were in the family room while she was sleeping in her room). AND SHE FREAKED THE FUCK OUT SO BADLY. Literally lost it on me, accusing my personality disorder of being this way, saying I'm being abusive to her by 'purposely leaving her out' even when I said "I thought you were resting and it's not something you would like to watch with us anyway", doesn't matter to her, we should only be with her watching the stuff SHE likes anyway. I had to stop watching and go be in the room with her, thank God I took something to numb myself so I could be 'there' but not really 'there' just stuck having to do shit for her while her mindless TV channel of choice (fucking Home Shopping Network...) played in the background. I tried to cut but didn't get as far as I would have liked, I want to take more pills but deep down I know it's fucking stupid and if I died then... I'd be dead obviously... which I can't decide is good or not. But I'm too scared. I'd fail and just waste 2 weeks in the goddamn hospital. And it's not 'wah wah I didn't get to watch what I wanted' that has me sad but just the fact my mom NEVER LETS ME DO WHAT I WANT. Even something as simple as getting away from her for a while to watch a fucking movie (not even go to the cinema but just a couple rooms away), NO every goddamn thing in my life has to revolve around her, she didn't even 'need' anything, she just got pissed that I was supposedly 'leaving her out' and then blamed me 'acting like that' on my BPD. It's never going to get any better and the only reason I haven't done anything worse to myself is because I still don't know if I want it to 'work' on not. I'm not numb enough yet but the only thing that would really make me numb for good would be to be dead finally. I'm just so sick of everything and every fucking day is going to be me chained to my mom never able to do anything that I fucking want to do that doesn't involve her.

I gave up, the website is too shitty, literally nothing functions. Idk if the payment really failed or if those suckers are just not able to properly write 'it's sold out'
Now that I'm slightly annoyed...
I'm gonna rant.
First of all theaters can go fuck themselves if they are not able to provide proper services. The cinema I'm talking about in particular is not indie by the way, it's one of the biggest chains here (fuck you UGC) so the bare minimum they could do is provide with actual functional website so people can actually use it and make reservations. Don't even get me started on the price. 11,60€ for me to fucking go out and see people???? And we know seats aren't as good as they used to be in the past. Don't know about the snack prices, I bet it costs two kidneys.
That being said...
FUCK STREAMING PLATFORMS TOO OR EVEN ESPECIALLY
obviously I ain't paying for any. I won't pay for 10 different platforms, and especially not Amazon they can literally rot in hell. Don't even get me started on netflix. I used to pay sometimes back then. Honestly they had something. They used to do an actual effort and trying to show different stuff. They let creative direction to their writers. We wouldn't never have sense8 with today mentality tbh. Everything is just a reboot, a book adaptation emptied from its substance, a reboot, and book adaptation a reboot, a book a- you see the thing. I mean I shouldn't be bitching as pretty much never watch anything new for years so what do I know? I mean I would like to, but every time I watch a trailer, I'm tired just by watching it. Latest exemple I'm thinking about is the three body problem... Like having read the book just watching the trailer you could see the Americanism all over it... For a chinese book. And it's the problem with everything. I mean American TV shows have always be like this, maybe being younger I wasn't aware back then idk. But it feels so empty, so soulless? They can give me all the diversity they want, that doesn't change that it's still empty. And for TV shows (actually I'm talking more specifically about TV shows cause I'm not a big cinephile so I don't have the legitimacy to criticise) I know it's because of that stupid ass 8 episodes format. I've already talked about it. But it's literally draining the whole industry imo. Also writers clearly having little creative freedom since they have to make stuff that sells. But yeah, TV shows lasted physically and in memories because we were watching them slowly instead of this boulimie stuff we have now. Everything is like consume, forget, consume forget and pay shit ton of money.
And I'm thinking I am actually not built for this shit. I felt so burn out not being able to enjoy anything. So now I don't even try. I don't try new shows cause it's not worth it even when there's an actual good one. Because it's gonna be cancelled anyway. Who wants to emotionally invest in shows that get cancelled (I did so many time).
But when I do.
Be sure I will pirate the shit out of it. None of these industries deserve our money.
To finish on a positive note, if there's one thing I'm really happy for in the end. It's books. Sure the book industry is oversaturated too and there's ton of shit to criticise too (but I won't here). But it's so vast there are books everywhere for everyone, and even if tomorrow not a single book would be published (which I don't believe in), there are enough books for my entire life anyway. But yes books, even if formatted too (looking at us french snobs with our novel format), are like the only place writers can still let go of their creativity. Plus you can have cheap books (I'm starting to get there) and obviously free books thanks to libraries, and also you can pirate books too. Yes I pirate books too but tbh it doesn't even compensate how much I spend buying books so I'm not feeling guilty and I either pirate popular books or old books (if they are really old it's free anyway). But yes if you go out unlike me go buy books if you have money, to your local bookstore, or if you can't library is your way.
Reading is my anchor ⚓

Tag someone you want to get to know better.
Thanks for tagging me @bitbybitwrites ! ❤️
favorite color: no clue! I look particularly good in pink, white, navy blue so let's go with those!
last song: playing on my Spotify just now: Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper, which... yeah, I stand by it.
last movie: the last film I saw in a cinema was Red, White & Royal Blue at the London premiere. Actually, now that I think of it, I took my kids to the Super Mario Bros movie more recently, but that can't be my answer, so we'll stick with RWRB.
On the tv it was Love at First Sight on Netflix, which was alright.
currently watching: rewatching Sex Education before diving into season 4. Watching the current seasons of Taskmaster and Only Murders in the Building as they air so I don't get spoiled.
other stuff I watched this year: if I was a goldfish I wouldn't even be able to find my way around my fish bowl, by which I mean my memory sucks and I can barely remember what happened on a show from week to week. I watched Succession. Loved the second season of The White Lotus (I think that was this year 😬). Season 2 of Heartstopper. Strange New Worlds. Queen Charlotte. The Night Agent. Good Omens. Starstruck. Rewatched Schitt's Creek. I'm sure there's more
shows I dropped this year/didn't finish: I started on The Americans, forgot I was halfway through but I want to get back to it. Abbott Elementary I've been dipping in and out of when I need a v chill evening. Same for What We Do in the Shadows and somehow pretty much everything I like that's on Disney+ I keep forgetting to finish. Res Dogs, Grey's, Station 19, Fleishman is in Trouble. That's weird.
currently reading: I just finished The House in the Cerulean Sea 🥹 and now I'm reading Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit bc I like to alternate easier books with more challenging ones 😂
Oh, and fic wise, this weekend I started With so much of my heart (that none is left to protest) by @kiwiana-writes
currently listening to: my most highly in rotation playlist atm is a very poppy one filled with BSB and N'Sync and Britney and other bangers including Nobody Like U (from the film Turning Red) which is fucking excellent and will always be famous to me 😍. It's out of character for me, but it peps me up!
currently working on: a few attempts at expanding recent fics. My south of France fic. Something original that I'm hoping to really dive into come October, if the fic brain worms leave me alone.
current obsession: def still RWRB ❤️
Tagging @daisymae-12 @inexplicablymine @historicallysam @gwiazdziarka @letloverule1111 @kiwiana-writes @celaestis1 and if YOU too feel inclined to overshare on the dash why not do it and tag me so I can read it? 😁

get to know meme
lil thing where I'll give a bit too much detail so it fills its purpose, honoured honestly to be tagged by three of my favourite writers in this space @sharkodactyl, @unicyclehippo , and @astoriacolumnstaircase - anyone reading this should be reading their works instead.
favourite colour: brown(s), like a mid to a dark tone, i like them to have a bit of red involved. like our old-boy chet, I love the wood. my dream home would be all wood-panelled with built in inlayed and set back shelves and nooks a plenty and yeah just full of brik-a-brak. otherwise my favourite colours are navy blue and greens that are more mixed with blue than yellow, teals and emeralds and once again generally around the mid tones. green makes me very happy. moss and outdoors and all that.
currently reading: fic. haha. (suss my recommend reading tag) I did venture out to my (very) local queer bookshop and asked them for something that won't send me on a spiral if I'm already on one/provide some escapism and they reccomended river of teeth by Sarah gailey. anyone I've said about it to seems real enthusiastic about it, I am not well read at all when it comes to published things, tend to just get really into a few fandom authors works and picking them apart (rereading a lot) . still haven't started it but maybe I'll try take it out to the park in the next week or so. I'm dabbling in reading (and unfortunately writing) poetry thanks to @picturesofthegoneworlds and @blorbotomy 's influence, those mini books are fun to keep on you when out and about, poem or two on a tree stump or boulder with a grand vista and a brain that wants eyes on a phone screen.
last song: last song I consciously (not background music) listened to was:
youtube
I went on an early lord snow stint the other night because the air smelt crisp and there was a nice chill. they have remained my favourite heavy (as a broad term) band for a decade now.
I used to have music on all of the time, whether that be cd's at home or in my mp3 player (that I still take out with me) but these days I find listening more of an intentional activity and I prefer to have people just nattering when I'm at home and want background noise. think it's where my heads at and I've just got more sensitive to being overstimulated I guess. I was also pretty good at going to a live gig at least once a week before I did my back in, looking forward to getting into that habit again.
last series: I don't watch much stuff outside of critical role, least other than YouTube videos I'll put on whislt I'm drawing. oh wait yeah I ordered 3 seasons of xena on ebay because it's like a couple of quid a season and it is a real good comfort show and fucking amazing. I hadn't seen it since I was pre teen and it was on day time TV and I'd catch it on sick days. the amount of people I've brought it up to these past few months who've been so stoked to be reminded of it/eager to watch it with me is actually hilarious.
last movie: uhhhh God movies I watch even less. I haven't been to a cinema in over 12 years now, just not my thing, and it's funny caus my mum used to work in the film and TV industry and we had shelves and shelves full of VHS growing up (mostly bootlegged) and she can just ramble about pretty much any early era film up to the stuff from the 80s (when she was working on em) for days. never could sit through em, never felt satisfied with how the story went. guess that's why actual play appeals to me. but saying all this I did rewatch Bound for the first time since I was like 15 last month or so, enjoyed it a lot more than I did back then.
sweet/savory/spicy: savory all day. I am a salt fiend. I used to think I'd be fortunate enough to die from my salt intake. I'll put it on anything. cereal, toast, fruit. I think the other day I noted the one thing I wouldn't put it on, but I can't recall that right now honestly. it's gotta be decent salt too, sea salt or rock salt that has some texture and delicious flavour, I'm not fucking with that table salt shit. I carry salt with me in a mini mason jar everywhere I go, saves when you only have access to bland cold supermarket food. one of my earliest memories is when I was like 6 I had had my daily 1 glass allowance of squash/fruit cordial in my white Tom and Jerry printed beaker with the accordion bendy straw and so when I was pouring myself a glass of water from the tap I put salt in it caus I wanted flavour that would not show through the white translucent container. it's all been downhill from there, although I also, luckily I guess caus otherwise I would be really fucked, do drink a lot of water.
currently working on: myself and healing. hah. I never realised how much paperwork and phone calls came with this maintenance shit. I'm still out of work, and my mental health has taken a huge hit from not being able to do the things I usually would. so right now I'm just trying to keep everything together. I can draw again though, so sorry about that.
I never know who to tag in these things caus I don't think everyone wants to do them. so I'll go with this being open invite as always. hope anyone who read this far is having a good week, and sentiment is still there even if you didn't read this (unless you don't deserve my well wishes, then fuck you.)

about that "I'm not from the us" ask set
or whatever it was written there
all
every
most is a very interesting question and I need answers because knowledge = fun
Ahhh... This is going to be long...
1. favourite place in your country?
India is a big country, okay, I haven't been to many places, but I liked kerala when I went there one time.
2. do you prefer spending your holidays in your country or travel abroad?
In my country, in my state, in my house. I don't like traveling.
3. does your country have access to sea?
Yeah :)
4. favourite dish specific for your country?
Creul. How dare you make me choose?
5. favourite song in your native language?
Ohhh,,,, this is hard. I don't know many songs like at all
ஆனந்த யாழை (aanandha yaazhai)
சின்ன சின்ன ஆசை (chinna chinna aasai)
உனக்கு என்ன வேணும் சொல்லு (unakku enna venum sollu)
Are they all very popular songs? Yes, as I said I don't know many songs. (How hell did I become an instrumentalist!?)
6. most hated song in your native language?
I don't think I hate any songs, like in general..
7. three words from your native language that you like the most?
Who has favorite words?! I like them all.
8. do you get confused with other nationalities? if so, which ones and by whom?
I am, unfortunately pale as fuck, so some people think I'm white (oh the horrors) and other times they think I'm from andhra side, because again pale as hell lol
9. which of your neighbouring countries would you like to visit most/know best?
We somehow have some level of beef with most of our neighbours,.,. Probably sri lanka, I know a decent amount about it because shared history, and it would be the easiest to travel to
10. most enjoyable swear word in your native language?
No "swear words" because language is old and we have forgotten most of them :(
11. favourite native writer/poet?
Kalki Krishnamurthy, is this a basic answer? Yes. But, I am not a book person, okay, books are scary and I haven't read many in my lifetime. I'm going based on what my mom said lol.
12. what do you think about English translations of your favourite native prose/poem?
No particular feelings about it :/
13. does your country (or family) have any specific superstitions or traditions that might seem strange to outsiders?
Oh, so many, but like most young people don't follow it that much. It's just something old people nag about.
14. do you enjoy your country’s cinema and/or TV?
I don't watch many movies or TV shows in general, so I don't have any strong feelings towards it.
15. a saying, joke, or hermetic meme that only people from your country will get?
Again, big country, varied languages. But let me think of something I can actually translate...
We call people who don't think before they speak cashew nuts (முந்திரிக்கொட்ட (Mundhiri Kotta)) because of how the the cashew nut protrudes out of the cashew fruit.
I chose a random one, there are many more, Tamil is a language built on metaphors lol
16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with?
Most hated: THE GOD DAMN INDIAN ACCENT. Like 1) it originates from the welsh accent 2)it mostly comes from north Indian diasporas 3) NORTH INDIANS ALSO DON'T HAVE THAT ACCENT.
THERE ARE 22 DIFFERENT OFFICIAL LANGUAGES AND HUNDREDS OF UNOFFICIAL ONES, HOW THE HELL IS THERE SUPPOSED TO BE AN ALL ENCOMPASSING "INDIAN ACCENT"
Also, a million others, but we don't have time for that.
Agree with: we like our spices yes :}
17. are you interested in your country’s history?
YES YES YES. 100% YES. I am a history nerd about it. I have so much history trivia. Pls someone ask me about it.
18. do you speak with a dialect of your native language?
I don't know, there are dialects I think, but I don't know much about them or even which one I speak lol.
19. do you like your country’s flag and/or emblem? what about the national anthem?
It's alright, I don't have strong feelings about it .
20. which sport is The Sport in your country?
Cricket. Enough said.
21. if you could send two things from your country into space, what would they be?
Ahhh, I don't know. Our food, maybe? Astronauts need food, right?
22. what makes you proud about your country? what makes you ashamed?
People. For both. I will not elaborate ^-^
23. which alcoholic beverage is the favoured one in your country?
I don't drink alcohol. So, I don't know. Where I live, it's also kinda taboo to drink alcohol :(
24. what other nation is joked about most often in your country?
Brits and Americans, again enough said
25. would you like to come from another place, be born in another country?
No, I like it here.
26. does your nationality get portrayed in Hollywood/American media? what do you think about the portrayal?
Don't really care.
27. favourite national celebrity?
I don't know any pop culture, national or international. So, can't say :/
28. does your country have a lot of lakes, mountains, rivers? do you have favourites?
Yeah all three and lots of them, we are big as I said before. We are supposed have favourites?
29. does your region/city have a beef with another place in your country?
None that I know of
30. do you have people of different nationalities in your family?
Nope ^-^

It was years ago that you said this, buuuuut...can I ask you to continue on why Dreamworks is better than Disney?
Sure!
I have no memory of what I said before but it basically comes down to the matter of adaptation.
They both definitely have their values. Walt Disney and the company he created turned dark, unapproachable fairytales of caution into lighthearted narratives with hope and wonder. There is a lot of value in that and Walt Disney himself had a childlike perspective that, in tow with his team's inventive newness in creating animated sequences, really turned the tide for storytelling through cinema. No child was too old to feel like they could take part in it.
To me, the 1990s and early 2000s were a time of Disney creating and perpetuating the fairytale conventions that Dreamworks in its foundation seemed to actively try to dismantle. Again, both have their value, but at a certain point Disney became a studio that was churning out existing fairytales and Dreamworks flourished as a studio that took a different approach.
Yes, the Prince of Egypt was based on the Bible and How To Train Your Dragon was based on a series of books by Cressida Cowell but they made it their own in a refreshing way. There's also original concepts like Megamind and Kung Fu Panda that are just absolutely fantastic stories.
I can't speak for Dreamworks now since I stopped watching their movies after my dad left the company but specifically in their first 20 years, you had this company that wasn't afraid to go out of the box, make fun of the box, or even absolutely demolish the box. Sequels like Kung Fu Panda 2 and How To Train Your Dragon 2 are deep and soulful. They bring out a conflict in the existing protagonist that has to do with their past, which Disney didn't do justice until Frozen 2 (so good!)
I think Disney not only created this box for themselves but after their boom in the 90s they just became this money making machine. It was no longer about art-making. What fairytale can we do next? Here's this direct-to-dvd sequel. And now with the live-action. Do you see Dreamworks doing that? Not yet at least. They respect the the original animators and storytellers.
I'm not against adaptation. I get it. The old version is problematic? Fine okay. But if you're making it just to make it, what are you even doing? There's a huge difference between making a live-action version of a movie that's basically the same thing and creating something like Once Upon A Time (tv show, 2011, technically ABC so Disney but not really in their control as far as storytelling) where there are twists to the fairytales and something that is unexpected or has shifted. Something is added or detracted in an interesting way.
So yeah I guess when I say Dreamworks is better I'm referring to the fact that they have more quantity as far as substantive work that isn't an adaptation, and that even the work that is has something very human and special and unapologetically adult. A lot of animated movies these days treat kids like babies, and I was grown up treated by Dreamworks like an adult.
Of course there are exceptions to this and I hate when people generalize. Tarzan, for one, is something very different to the box and Madagascar 3 is pretty ridiculous. It's just in general, I really value Dreamworks setting out and honestly saying "okay so Disney is making money this way, but fuck that, we're gonna do it this way". We're gonna animate one of the darkest stories in the Bible, showing slavery and death and abuse without romanticizing it and add a tragic brotherly bond that was never meant to be. We're gonna have a protagonist in a fairytale that's a belching ogre who doesn't know he's in a fairytale and show a version of love that is the least superficial it's ever been in a fairytale (I think Shrek is also based on something now that I think of it but still). We're gonna make a cushy, cuddly panda this kung fu hero with a heart of gold who doesn't really question that a goose is his dad because found family. We're gonna create a protagonist with a lot of flaws according to his Viking island, but compassion when it counts, when he faces a dragon tied up and fearing for his life and, seeing himself, chooses mercy. We're gonna create a movie that makes fun of the archetypes of heroes and villains but turns out to accidentally be one of the best movies of all time (I'm not biased towards Megamind). You get the idea. I say Dreamworks is better because I can respect them. I can't say the same for Disney anymore. If Dreamworks starts doing live-action, this will change.
I hope that answers your question. Thank you so much for asking and sorry about the chaos!
Disney movies that are must-sees:
Cinderella (1950), Sleeping Beauty (1959), Mulan (1998), Tarzan (1999), The Princess and the Frog (2009), Tangled (2010), Frozen (2013), Frozen 2 (2019)
Dreamworks movies that are must-sees:
The Prince of Egypt (1998), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Shrek (2001), Kung Fu Panda (2008), How to Train Your Dragon (2010), Shrek Forever After (2010), Megamind (2010), Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011), Puss In Boots (2011), How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014), Puss In Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
I don't know what the heck was happening on Flower Street in 2010 and 2011 but something about that year was REALLY GOOD. Yes let's make five movies in a row that a random character effects animator's daughter will absolutely love.

ok get ready for SPAM for the character meme thing : first one up? the beloved, the amazing, the most blorbo to ever blorbo ... randy sealman 🥺
send me a character and i'll list...
i'm going to be slowly working through all of these so @ anyone who wants feel free to send more of them! i'm never not accepting these. though if like 5 years down the line you send me the name of a character i'll probably be confused i'm not going to lie
favorite thing about them
EVERYHTINGGNGNG!??!?!?! though i think maybe my FAVOURITE thing about him is how sensitive and sad he is. like yeah sure he's got his "don't even fuckin' start" and "take that shit off" lines but his longest scene has him being so sad and emotional and sensitive?? and then we get the moment where he's like FULLY ass out for this girl he does NOT know?? UGH randy sealman you are the most mentally ill man to ever exist
least favorite thing about them
the fact that he has inconsistent crazy lore and also that he dies and that 0 people care
favorite line
"borden's dead. someone executed him." it is just SUCH a pookie line and he is SOOOOO?!?!?!???!?! so cute for this. obviously i love all his lines but this one is so PARTICULARLY pookie.
brOTP
randy and the bordens for sure. i think their dynamic is so tragically unexplored. like putting aside the fact that i ship randy and william HARD like ... they just seem like such a fun trio? i just think they are so cute and tragic. it's about randy really thinking these two are his BEST friends, meanwhile they both resent him so much after a while. it's just sad!!
OTP
OBVIOUSLY randy/tyler DUHHH. they are so cute and perfect for each other and they fuel me daily. there's something about hole from a man who is so impossibly sad. also im completely enamoured with our lore for them. but inside the actual source material, i would absolutely say randy/william. it's about william's little spat "you're an emPLOYee!" like oh girl you are projecting. you're having a little gayboy moment. honestly josh and daniel killed this movie they put their entire pussy into it and they're the best parts of it so even if their dynamic weren't so compelling i'd absolutely adore them as a couple simply because their characters are so good
nOTP
randy x duolingo girl. also randy x like hugo?? whatever the fuck his name is? creepy ass dude??? basically randy x any rancid character
random headcanon
i think randy really loves the water. this is sort of pulled from josh taylor and stuff about his roles and his insta and stuff, but i think it really fits for randy for him to love the water and swimming and stuff. it also adds a lot to his and maryanne's relationship
unpopular opinion
i love randy sealman and he deserves to live
song i associate with them
obviously deep in the night jay frog remix but i also want to personally shout out not allowed by tv girl and also nocturne by sufferer. i can't listen to deep in the night while writing him so i often listen to a feeling of power from the heavy rain soundtrack instead. i think when i write him i'm usually listening to nocturne though because tv girl, while a bop and super fun to jam to, it's harder to write to imo
favorite picture of them
i think my ultimate favourite picture has to be pool sex but i am also sharing when randy is like REHAB?? and also when he hugs his mommy in the saddest scene known to cinema. imagine your mom holds your face and is like you need help randy and you look so incredibly sad and then you hug her and start crying and say "i'm sorry" like EUGHFHGD. also his ass out picture is a huge fav and it's under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this man was really waiting for this girl to come back from the bathroom and peg him. INSANE.
Tumblr media
also not them being SO disrespectful on his cringe fail suspect board and having so many picture of his naked bloodied self. like GIVE HIM SOME DIGNITY

🌺🎟️🌷💘🎀👛
ily <3
🌺 - What's your type?
Honestly I'm pretty open when it comes to 'types' however, if I look back at people that I have had crushes on/found attractive, there are a few common threads, like pretty eyes, freckles, great hair, and more often than not, a big nose oh god I'm just describing Joe Keery aren't I?
🎟 - What's your ideal date?
answered here!!
🌷 - What compliment have you received the most?
idk, maybe that I have nice eyes I guess?
💘 - Do you get crushes easily?
Oh yeah I definitely do! It doesn't take very much for me to develop a crush on someone 😂
🎀 - What's the most nostalgic movie/tv/book you can think of?
Okay so I'll give you one for each, for movies I'm going to go with The Magic Roundabout which still fucks so hard because I know I dragged my parents to the cinema to see it at least three times.
For tv shows I'm going to go suuuper niche, because I've literally never heard anyone talk about this show, but as a kid my dad and me used to watch this tv show called Monster Cafe and it was THE BEST
And for books, I used to be obsessed with Tinkerbell and The Disney Fairy books and Fairy Dust and The Quest for The Egg was a big fave of mine when I was younger
👛 - Do you have a bucket list?
Answered here!!

To the anon saying the eras tour was boring. Not trying to be mean but yeah what did you expect? I think that as far as concerts go Taylor literally put up a whole 3 hour theatre act. I saw it in the cinema and am going in August and I was in awe. Especially as a person that has been working in theatre for 6 years, that show is magnificent. The wardrobe, the sets, the props.
I mean, just compare to any show given by men. They do fuck all and just stand there compared to her. What more could she offer? I find it incredibly weird how women are expected to give these amazing concert shows (Beyonce, Rihanna, Gaga just to name a few others) whereas men are allowed to just sing the songs they're supposed to and people enjoy it. At this point if you didn't enjoy the concert you went to it's not about the artist, it's that you're not a fan of their music as a whole. I can't imagine anything else being the answer.
Wait no, I admit that social media is so oversaturated with eras tour content that it can get boring by the time you go, but then it's up to you to disengage from that content if you think that's what's happening.
I got a bit heated about this lol and I'm not even a diehard swiftie. It's just something I noticed over the years and find more and more frustrating.
To be fair, I get both sides. Because yeah, it’s a concert in a stadium…what were you expecting her to do? But at the same time, concert movies use the best possible angles, lighting, and cuts to make something look epic. It’s…a movie, it’s cinematic. The reality is very rarely as beautiful in real time.
I don’t think the anon was expecting more from Taylor because she’s a woman, I think if you hear the hype or you watched the movie, depending on how you manage your expectations, you do sometimes find reality doesn’t live up to your expectations. That’s why I don’t go and see anything live, because I watched a curated view of something and presumed the live version would be an improved experience rather than a wholly different experience. I think it’s okay to admit you didn’t enjoy it as much as you thought you would.
I also think that one anon saying they didn’t like something cancels out the literally millions of people who have been to the tour and did find they enjoyed it. I don’t think the dissatisfaction is enough to say it’s a widespread thing about female artists.
And I don’t agree that being disappointed by the love experience means you don’t like the music. I LOVE Taylor’s music…no amount of money could get me to stand up for three hours in a crowd of people all screaming her songs. It’s not about the artist and it’s not about the music. You can be a fan and not enjoy everything that artist does, and you can be a fan of the music and not enjoy the live show.
As for disengaging with the content…how would you know in advance of going that you were going to not enjoy it because of spoilers? I don’t mind watching spoilers of tv shows, I still enjoy the show.
No one is saying Taylor doesn’t put on a good show and that she dropped the ball with the tour. People love it. She clearly loves it. It’s all good. One particular person said they didn’t enjoy the experience as much as they thought…it’s not that deep.
It’s good that you enjoy it and that you’ll get to enjoy it in august though!

i have since slept and spent time staring at the ceiling thinking and does nothing about this seem a little suspicious to anyone? like nothing. i can only w my chest speak on the mg point bc that's what i know
Because as soon as someone brought up korean censorship laws (though in an argument as to why you shouldn't infantilize idols which, lets put that word up on the shelf, yeah?) my guards were up. Then you go through twt and suddenly no one can find the original video/translation, and it's all screenshots which can be easily doctored.
Let's go through my thought process since last night, okay? Like I had come to terms with the fact that these men have likely consumed this media and that was disgusting on their own but i would still stream the music bc they're grown men and to me they quite frankly have no effect on who I am as a person bc listen. I have a test that can make or break my gpa so i have better things to focus on fr. Not to say I wouldn't side eye but it's not like they're doing the things in that anime/manga so tbh. Again I didn;t think too hard in light of my fucking EXAM this morning so.
But then I wake up and i'm thinking. "Okay, obviously take everything from twt w/ a grain of salt otherwise Dr.B from that socmed literacy course you took will kill you. But someone mentioned that it airs on tv."
Now, I'm barely acquainted w/ USA's FCC and their obscenity/censorship laws as is, don't even get me started on KR. But if it airs, doesn't matter what time, i highly doubt that they're just gonna show all that shit. So i'm like yeah, okay fine. I check twt again to check the climate. COMPLETE 180 .
And that's the part that got to me because every single fucking time smth like this happens, the fucking mob mentality that overtakes people myself included is actually really fucking terrifying and points to just how quickly everything can devolve in to fascism. I do have fascism on the mind bc I've been in Fritz Lang land for my cinema course. But does it not scare anyone else how quickly it devolved into "if you every support/listen to x again you're a bad person" rhetoric? How extreme the response was? Not to say the subject matter does not warrant a response, but step back and use critical thinking and deductive reasoning, at least in mg's case. I know it's difficult bc our edu systems have failed us, but try, PLEASE.
As for people who have read it, I know nothing about the manga itself and I only arrived at my stance bc of the discrepancy discussed. But at the end of the day I don't care i'm little miss apathy w/ internet scandals fr unless it's like, actual like jailable shit.

No spoilers review of Rings of Power's first 2 episodes
TL;DR : It's great so far overall. Pirate it if you will, but haters beat the hate drum for nothing, in regards to quality.
The detailed version:
I'd like to open by saying I've read the trilogy multiple times, and the hobbit too, but never finished the Silmarillion. I've seen the OG films a million times, and their extended bonuses. I've seen the Hobbit films once or twice (worked in a cinema in NZ at the time the second came out…) but generally dislike them. I've never engaged with fandom much and basically know precious little of what's supposed to go down in the series.
The costumes are good. Some better than others.
The characters are all engaging. I've seen reviews that didn't care much for the harfoots, but I found them adorable and was often grinning during their scenes. There is definitely a sense of slow pace, with the characters building slowly and giving no indication of where the series might take them. I don't mind actually. I don't want tropes thrown in my face 2h in if there will be time to build.
The CGI is perfectly fine. Some scenes are more obvious than others, but I never really broke immersion except for a couple of scenes where I thought "maybe this would be nicer if practical". I have no idea what the workload was like for CG artists. It's usually shit, and I can't imagine Amazon treats their workers well in any domain. But they did a fantastic job. This is NOT TV show quality CG. This isn't Marvel or even Star Wars. This is very careful, very well executed, and I felt like watching two movies, not two tv episodes.
The plot... Is very slow to build. I honestly don't mind, because there's a satisfying sense of mystery throughout. I'm invested in all the storylines so far, to my own surprise.
The music is good too. It's not often noticeably "insane" the way it could be in the films, with tracks like for the Nazgul attack at Bree that just rips you from your seat. but overall I never thought the music was lacking, and noticed a few great tracks, notably at Khazad-Dûm! There are some very interesting sounds here and there and I think I'll get the OST as it's the sort of stuff I'll do some great writing to.
The one massive drawback so far for me is EDITING. OMG the editing. I don't know what they think they are doing, but I suspect they believe audiences need some sort of constant back and forth between PoVs to keep our interest? It this the TikTok editing trend? lol I joke but I genuinely wondered if this was edited for the tik tok crowd.
I'm really looking forward to the whole show being out and some pro editor reclipping this nicely. Some scenes, you will have very low interest walking, some talking... there's a mystery afoot... ok... And then oof, they discover something suspicious! A creepy tunnel! Character drops down into it and finally, we're talking. Something interesting. CUT!! And yeah, that happens a lot. They cut away from scenes that finally become good, or that have been built up to.
For me it did nothing but frustrate me.
Otherwise, nope, I like it. MILD SPOILERS FOR CHARACTERS:
I think Galadriel is great as a Trauma Queen. She has that one line, telling a human who's asking her to "let it lie" that "It would take longer than your lifetime even to speak the names of those they have taken from me. So letting it lie is not an option."
And I was both like "yasss queen!" but also "do elves have therapy? Because please, try and get some of that, you need it."
There was a lot of misogyny dressed in white knighting for "strong female characters" online in the last months, and I wish a happy fuck off to all people who will be hating on "strong female uwu Galadriel". I think there's some interesting acting choices going on, and the more we see of her, the more apparent it is that she GAINED her composure, but wasn't always so. I feel it's a great exchange for knowing she isn't at risk in this show. Instead of wondering if she'll "make it", I can wonder how she became the Galadriel I know. I hope they do her justice!
Elrond is fine! He's got depth!
There also was a fuss around the black elf, Arondir... AND YOU CAN ALL FUCK OFF TOO, HE'S MY PRECIOUS!!! Dude is a fucking gardener turned soldier in this war, he's relatable in his fears and bravery... And his name means "to round up" in French. He's sweet and I'm invested in his story. Some of the more chilling scenes came from his side actually.
And OMG DURIN!!! During and Elrond have this fantastic energy to them, I loved their scenes. And yeah, no beard on the Dwarven ladies. But I didn't mind. I found Disa super charming.
Also, a lot of scenes had fantastic fandom energy. I was watching, enjoying myself, and a little monkey at the back of my mind was like "ooohohohohohoho the tumblrinas are gonna be posting about this, I know it." But not in a bad way at all. More in like... there is space for tropes and retellings, and fix its and missing scenes... and I can already tell what's gonna be excellent at a glance. The visit at Khazad-Dûm is one of those settings imo.
Anyway, if the quality remains the same, it will be a fantastic show and a great addition to my personal canon of the Lord of the Rings. I think my final edition will be taken from fandom spaces when someone fixing the woeful editing... But I'm going to keep watching religiously until further notice!!
