I don't know if you like Angst but if you do I was thinking of Mario hurting his leg and just laying in bed upset, that he can't do much then he starts getting anxiety attacks out of nowhere as shadow figures surround him. A lot of people tried to hurt him and Luigi. Saying terrible things to him but it all goes away after Peach, Luigi, or Dk comfort him after finding him covered in flames from the anxiety.
Can someone tell me why DK is so satisfying to draw??
Tw: blood and injury, as well as anxiety

The full Donkey Kong Country cast! Except the ones I couldn't be bothered to draw! Let's get on with them. (DK and Candy were in the second batch)
Diddy and Dixie remain mainly the same, though Diddy I based off his movie design solely because I couldn't get the crop top to look right. Still a couple as indicated by their matching nail polish.
Cranky has a vest and sweatpants under the red shawl he has in the movie, while Wrinkly I gave a similar setup but in green and with a sundress. She's still dead in my 'verse, but her ghost appears in this design instead of a nightgown.
Chunky and Kiddy! Since in my 'verse everyone's a little older Kiddy goes from a toddler to a kindergarten/first-grade aged kid, who is still just huge for no reason. Chunky is his big brother around Diddy's age and since the movie portrayed Chunky as having some peach fuzz I gave him a bit of scruff on his chin. He ended up pretty cute I must say!
I'VE ALWAYS HATED TINY KONG'S HAT. IT'S SO UGLY. So I fully removed it from my design lol. I kept the same general idea of her teen design but aged it down just a smidge so you can easily tell Dixie's the older one of the 2, while also making her blonde hair dyed for some extra variety. instead of a crop tank top and sweatpants she has an off-the-shoulders top and a skort for some extra variation.
As for Lanky Kong I leaned into his namesake, and if he looks just a SMIDGE evil that's because I had TheMentok's video on the Kongs in the background as I drew and that might've influenced me just a tad lol.
Funky my beloved! I went full into his original full-surfer design, to get something different since Funky canonically hates going adventuring. I gave him a belly gained from just chilling on the beach most days lol. Also he has hair now! With him I set out to not just make him a clone of DK that wears clothes.
Lastly, King K. Rool and Lord Fredrik! With K.Rool I mixed his regular design with his Super Mario Sluggers design and also gave him a LOOOOOONG tail because crocodile. He wears a cuirass over his chest and gut. As for Fredrik all I did was give him some boots his design was strong enough already.
Now for extra 'verse lore: K.Rool rules Kremling Island, Fredrik rules the nearby Snowmad Island. these two alongside the Kong Isles form the Jungle Archipelago Kingdom. All three nations have beef with each other but since the recent Peace Treaty between the Mushroom and Koopa Kingdoms they've moved to a "cold war" sort of status where no one is openly hostile to one another but they still hate each other lol.

Why didn't you notice the HK protestors holding trump and maga signs and drawings in their streets if you really kept up well with the Hong Kong Situation? Google it! Why didn't you also know about Chan Tong Kai's crimes in TAIWAN(democracy) which started the protests being criminal-apologists? And why did you not stop using TikTok even when the HKers told you its taking your data and spying on you?! Just cuz it's trendy and fame coping?! Insincere much!
i literally don’t know if you sent this to the right person and also this is the most incomprehensible ask i’ve ever received but anon my beloved i don’t even have tiktok. i was talking about the chunky tennis shoe trend which seemed to come along with tiktok

The mid 90's was the height of music, but for The Chimps it was their lowest point. After an awful Banarijuana withdraw meltdown between Diddy and Dixie, it caused a breakup. The group of drum banging, heavy hitting monkeys went on a five year hiatus, enjoying life as it is. Some others however decided to go solo. Chunky's rap album hit the shelves, Cranky's piano pieces played at fancy restaurants, but even today in grandma's grocery store or a rushed broken game you may hear the grand hit wonder from Lanky Kong's only solo country album titled "My Truck, My Wife And A Bunch Of Bananas" with a hit that made the album sold millions worldwide. Take Me Home, Donkey Kong Country Roads was a masterful piece that not only moved 80-Hour A Week Truck Drivers, but Lanky Kong himself. A song that was less about wanting to go home, but with his friends back in the break up. While Lanky was a third banana playing acoustic guitar for the band, being only used for only two songs of their five albums, was very beloved by the band. Some interviews from Chunky said that he was "truly the peanut butter that stuck this peanut butter banana sandwich. A messy one, but a good enough one!" Featuring this song is a lone banjo bear man that Lanky knew very well during a game gig during the band's down time. Check out The Chimps' 30th anniversary compilation greatest hits album coming this April! Featuring Smooth Crocodile, Chimplovania, Wonder Kong, and not this song because it's not by The Chimps, it's LANKY KONG, STOP CONTACTING ME. THAT'S THE REASON WHY IT'S NOT AT

Gifts for Everyone You Love (or Just Like), From $3 to $75

Gifts for Everyone You Love (or Just Like), From $3 to $75
Not to brag, but…I’m really good at gift-giving.
People come to me to ask for advice on everything from what to get their mom for her birthday to what kind of housewarming present would benefit a 27-year-old bachelor in his newly warmed pad. I have, as they say, a “rep” for being a reliable source for original ideas. I think it might have something to do with the fact that part of my job involves being a literal internet shopping sleuth, but who can say?
The holidays present somewhat of a challenge, though — not for lack of cool gift options but rather lack of sufficient Bitcoins to buy something for every single person of my list of all the humans in my life who deserve a material signifier of my affection during this most wonderful time of year.
BUT GUESS, WHAT DIAMOND BUTTS? I’m great under pressure, which is why I’ve put together a lil somethin’ somethin’ I’ve affectionately dubbed the Man Repeller Holiday Gift Guide’s Slightly More Affordable Cousin. Behold: a smattering of really great gift ideas for all your friends and family and lovers, broken out in price tiers because I’m in a festive mood:
$75 and under
Welcome to the most expensive category, also known as gift ideas for the people you love most. JUST KIDDING! MONEY DOES NOT EQUAL LOVE. I know this to be true because a hug is such a good present, especially if you squeeze like you mean it. But anyways, back to the stuff:
Might I recommend a rainbow sweater for literally anyone on your list? I personally possess three of varying silhouettes and I’m hungry for more. I’m also hungry for another bra from Lonely Lingerie because I got this black one a few months ago and it’s so pretty I want to frame it but I wear it frequently instead. I’m not the type of person to invest in bras — almost all of mine were purchased at TJ Maxx in eighth grade and I still wear the same ones to this day — but I think it’s worth having ONE nice underpinning, don’t you? Ditto for this Man Repeller x Monogram t-shirt ,which is the softest t-shirt alive and a great gift for anyone who likes to wear things that make you think and smile at the same time. Speaking of thinking and smiling, our very own Edith Young makes these super cool “painterly Pantone” posters that will make your gift receiver do just that — simultaneously, no less.
$50 and under
WOULDN’T IT BE SO CUTE to buy someone this golden fortune cookie thingy and put a platonic-or-otherwise note of adoration inside for him or her to read? Two gifts for the price of one, I tell ya. There are plenty more gifts that keep on giving in this category, such as an extremely cute espresso maker, a harness for carrying your beach towels during vacation or summer (whichever comes sooner) and a one-year subscription to Gossamer, an unconventional new magazine that covers travel, art, food, and culture through a “green lens.”
$25 and under
This category turned out to be the land of accessories, which I am totally fine with. I’m thrilled, in fact. I want to buy this chunky beanie in every color for myself but instead I will probably give them to all my cousins because I have a biologically-instituted warmth provider thanks to my oodles of hair. Hair!!! That reminds me, I’m really into velvet ribbons as outfit garnishes right now and you and your loved ones should be, too, which is why I heartily recommend this velvet hair tie courtesy of J.Crew that provides a perfect bow with zero finger effort on your gift receiver’s part. They can occupy their digits with other matters, like wearing touchscreen gloves and flipping the pages in Cherry Bombe’s aesthetically pleasing cookbook despite freezing temperatures.
$10 and under
You made it to the last (and best) gift-giving level! $10 or less! What a time to be alive and in the gift-giving spirit! Please give ME the gift of purchasing this mushroom-shaped desk vacuum for everyone you know. I’ve never crushed on something harder. If you and your beloveds aren’t into mushrooms, though, there’s plenty of other goodies to be found: adult coloring books, back scratchers and knit slippers among them. I included this First Aid Beauty kit as well just because I’ve been enjoying this face wash ever since writing this story, and I think your great aunt Sally would, too.

Yarn not harm
I first learned to knit when I was a kid. Three times I learned to knit before it stuck – taught once each by my grandmothers, and also my our Ahmah in Hong Kong. Although now I come to think of it I remember telling people about being taught to knit in Hong Kong far more than I remember knitting in Hong Kong.
Tumblr media
By the time school got around to encouraging us to knit squares to sew into blankets to send to Africa, I already knew what I was doing. I could handle this. I’ve got this plain stitch down. Da boss of blanket squares right here.
At one point I had a go at following a pattern. Actually attempting a more complex geometric shape than my beloved square, or even a scarf’s oblong. I even managed to make the front of a waistcoat-pullover-thing. Who know what those sweaters without arms are really called? But I soon realised that my longer than average dimensions meant than any pattern I ever painstakingly followed, doing all of the counting of stitches, remembering which way to cast the stitches, what line to do which, and so on - I would never end up with something that fit me properly. Which is a pretty disheartening thing for a thirteen-year-old to find out.
In growing up I always had a knitting bag, that is to say a bag with wool and needles and miscellaneous bits. I dipped in and out of it sporadically. In my second year of university I knitted the exam stress out a bit with my new ‘toy’ of a circular needle. The plan was to just make a long tube and then belt it at the top. There was no way this wouldn’t fit me, and there were no extra numbers of stitches and rows to remember. I’ve got this knitting lark sorted. After a couple of false starts making twists rather than a tube (make sure all the stitches are facing the right way when you start the second row!) I succeeded! And then put down the needles yet again.
And here we have the reason I last started knitting. I wanted to stop smoking. I smoke again now by the way, just way less. I won’t do it in the house. But in wanting to give up I knew that what I really needed was something to busy my hands, but that didn’t demand a whole load of extra attention. It may not be squares, but by golly my oblong scarves got big and long and satisfyingly chunky.
You see, these scarves would never me too small for me. I started giving them to people for birthdays or Christmas. I got asked if I could make a friend a snood one day when we were wandering around a particularly inspiring craft-wear show. “Don’t know but I’ll have a bash at it.” And I did.
I made a snood for my mother for Christmas that year. Brilliant mother was very kind about it. A couple of weeks later she told me that she had been stopped on the bus and asked where she got her lovely snood from. Maybe other people would actually buy these things I was making. Like the wrist warmers I made for my mum to keep her sparrow-hands warm in her artists’ studio whilst allowing her fingers to smudge charcoal and all the other things artists’ fingers need to do.
I took the plunge and signed up for a stall at a local church craft fair. Kind of feels like playing post office at my grandma’s when I was a kid, selling the things that I’ve made from behind a fold-up table with a bedspread lain over it. Kind of enjoyable for that feeling too.
As an aside, lots of people come up to me and my stalls and share their own knitting stories. I was told of one woman’s dad who came back from The War and was set to making baby blankets for the local hospital. I found out later that it was for the shellshock. The repetitive action of the needles works as a mild anti-depressant. I’ve taught friends to knit, just because they’re curious and have asked. I still stick to the plainest of stitches, with just the occasional border, but the feedback I’ve got is that people like the evenness I produce. So they seem happy without the swirls and buckles. And are happy to learn to do just what I do, and get the same accessible sense of achievement.
And some people just come and like to talk. You can’t take it personally when someone comes over and picks up your stock, man-handles it, and then tells you they could make it at home for half the price. There’s no use explaining about undercutting minimum wage for yourself for the manpower hours you put in. I’ve just got to enjoy seeing the odd face triggered to a bygone memory of a relative they hadn’t thought about for a bit who used to knit. And to see it soften.
