That's what I was thinking when it comes to the topic of Nica's assault. There are probably guidelines on what is allowed and Don has used the unusual plot to work around them.

Like with Chucky possessing Nica and the sex scene in 1x05, I bet its because of the fact that without context, everything looks consensual. It's only when you know the context of Nica being possessed that people realise it's assault. That's probably why it's never been actually said on the show, there's probably something about explicit references to r*pe not being allowed in shows with that age rating.

I agree with you. I've always been kind of indifferent to the teen drama aspect (I tend to get far more invested in the adult characters anyway) but I wasn't expecting it to be so prominent in the series. The movies were always rated R or even unrated, it feels like an odd choice to then cater the show towards children/teens.

Exactly as originally I was expecting the show to be actual TV-MA not some TV-14 show that was slapped with a TV-MA sticker. I just wished the show was not on Syfy as I look back at it and yeah it was screwed to be catered to children/teens being the show doesn’t want commit to an actual darker storytelling or give depth to its story. I got a love/hate with the show especially when it comes to the writing and knowing it can do better than this crap (This is coming from someone who watched Curse in 2017)
