19. What is your favorite fact about your OC?

This is actually kinda hard, since I have to choose a specific one!! I'll choose something recent that I can't get out of my head.

Ivrel has a tramp stamp of a spider shooting out webbing that says "don't get it tangled!" in cursive. She got it in the bathroom at a saloon. It is poorly drawn, off-center, and completely impossible to remove now due to her regeneration powers.

She also tried to get an eyebrow stud before, but her brows are so thick it wasn't even visible. I guess that's two facts. Oh well.

Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?

okay ngl I had to think about this one because his origin is actually super underwhelming and lame. I made Adam about ten years ago because back in the day™ my ocs were high schoolers and I decided I wanted to make a bunch of cliche high school archetypes™ and I was like "hm. Need a background preppy snob character." and that's how Adam was created.

Then as I aged my characters up I was like "anyone who acts like that outside of highschool is a total asshole" and so Adam became an asshole. Then as the genre of my story shifted, so did his characterization, role, and then I eventually caved in and changed his design and now look at him.

♥ (03) Are there any romantic gestures that your OC loves? Drew's not a romantic, tch, don't be silly. He doesn't want any romantic gesture! (((PSST.. Drew would love it if someone wrote him a song. It doesn't even have to be romantic it could just be horny or whatever you want it could be a hater song, so what! It's the effort you put into it.))) (he also likes gifts because hey, free stuff, and you thought of him. Hahaa!!! I live in your head rent free don't I? 😏) ♥ (04) Are there any romantic gestures that your OC hates? Drew hates being called pet names!! Babe is probably the most acceptable, its like, finnnne. Just don't overuse it!! He finds a lot of them really embarrassing and too cutesy, though. (Kind of CRING.)

Also just the nature of him being kinda closeted he gets really cagey with like, Cute PDA and holding hands and stuff sometimes. I can't say he HAtes it but, it can be hard to fully enjoy it and to an unknowing partner it may seem like hes irritated by it rather than nervous.

3. what's something A thinks in their head about B that they would NEVER tell them out loud? alternately, what's something they want to say to them but haven't/can't, and why not?

Odd -> Mery: There are a lot of things that Odd never says that are, nonetheless, evident from his behavior. He likes that he feels protected around them, but that's in direct contradiction with the way he postures himself. He doesn't want that in general, he wants it in this specific context. Thus, it goes unsaid -- can't let anyone get the wrong idea! I imagine it is not so subtle, though. Definitely not in private.

Sometimes, Audrist can't bring himself to ask Meridian all the questions that he wants to. Are you dangerous? What answer does he expect? What answer does he hope for? That, too, remains uncertain.

Mery -> Odd: Meridian is a more secretive person overall. They worry for his safety a lot, but they always hesitate to say anything -- they never want to patronize him, even with good intentions. Well, that just goes hand-in-hand with what I said above, doesn't it? Sometimes, they fear that if they speak their full affections, that that their words will come off as disingenuous simply because of who is saying them.

Meridian is neurotic to the bone, even if it doesn't show on their face. Their fear of losing him, they worry, is selfish. If I could, would you let me immortalize you? I want to. Ah, but isn't that... invasive? They want him to live for himself, not them. So they'd never ask unless he brought it up first.

...For the most part, though, both of them much prefer affection through actions rather than words -- that's part of the reason they fit together so well, even though it seems strange from the outside. Plus, they've gotten very good at reading each other. It's a comfortable routine for them to fall into, but, occasionally, things go unsaid for longer than they should.

The original Eve is in fact the founder of the city in which all of my characters live in, Evelow. To preserve her honor and reputation, every so often the kept corpse of Eve is cloned and able to live and walk with the citizens of Evelow. While clones are treated like their predecessors, they are still completely different humans with new memories and such. So not every Eve is going to behave like the original. In fact, the current Eve kind of hates people. Still demands attention though.

so the preservation of the original™ DNA is under the responsibility of the genetics department. her dna and many of the original organs are kept in a secret freezer vault that needs special clearance to access. During the days of the original Eve, cloning and the technology associated with it was much more primitive, so the priority was keeping the DNA safe and some of the organs in case they could be used for individual cloning, experimentation, and transplantation.

that leaves the shell of Eve. So this is largely inspired by the relic of mary magdalene and egyptian tomb sites (the one here is said to be of Khentkaus III, but it's the only picture and source I could find, so idk how true that is) but yeah, I still haven't decided how exposed Eve's body, but her original shell is showcased in the temple.

(It's called a temple, but people don't really worship there, it's more like a museum or a place for Evelonian scholars to gather.)

I think the body is completely hidden though from sight, due to the leaders not wanting to show a decomposed version of Eve, especially when there's a living one chilling right next door ! Sorry, there's not much a chance the body has been kept intact for almost a thousand years. I'd like to think they tried at first but gave up after some time. Maybe present day Evelow has made major achievements in embalming, they didn't have those luxuries when the first Eve was around, so it's too late.

the site and the tomb is largely maintained by the morticians and groundskeepers who preserve the appearance of the place. (The temple is located at the heart of the graveyard, which is why morticians get the ultimate say in Eve's up keeping. sorry to the scholars.)

tdlr; the dna necessary for cloning, as well as some organs for backup, are kept in secret freezer vault. The skeleton/body of Eve is kept in a temple for the public to visit.

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?

I just DEsperately needed a queer horror character and went down the demon possessed path, with some religious trauma themes etc. Just a fun easy way to bring "Normal" "Guy" into a monstrous form somehow!

We had an AU years ago where Nathan, Lucky, and Levi were on the run and because of shenanigans find a spell book and accidentally summon a demon critter, Goopy, that possesses Lucky. Classic! And that's basically where the demon inspiration came from, why it was so easy to get started on that story path because we've done it before. I like when that happens! Though we eventually changed Quinn's demon to be less The Goopy Creature type. But you can kinda see the connection here in a Runaway sketchpage vs Quinn's first sketchpage.

We were also inspired by just. Classic horror tropes or motifs , things that would always happen to Quinn and Parker like cell phones neverrrr working when you're in danger, tripping while being chased, haunted dolls.. Skeptically playing with a haunted spell book because it's not realllllly gonna do anything! *gets possessed*. Whorror Movie is just kind of a loving joke and homage to the horror genre!

💀 - Does your OC have any phobias?

Quinn is scared of other people controlling him! (Which means Quinn and The Demon are gonna have to talk boundaries...! 😔 It WAS scary at first but they feel empowered now that they work together! Evil now. 😏) Scared of cults and conversion therapy and other such concepts.

And Quinn's demon has a fear of water! (which sucks for it, because Quinn loves taking baths to ease their sore body) (A running gag in the time Quinn was possessed before REalizing this, Parker would leave them in the bath to go get food or assess the damage of the van ((they ran over the demon. With the van, yeah.)) she'd come back to see Quinn zoned out just standing in the bath tub, not relaxing at all!!)
