YAAYYY!! thank you so much for the ask!! i’m going to be answering these emoji prompts (from your s/o ask game) for my ancient greece reality MUAHAHAHA 😼😼

🫖 ⊹ ࣪ ˖ chamomile tea : how does your s/o help soothe or ground you when you're feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or anxious? if you're having a bad day, what do they do to help? . . . chrysanthos can be a bit cautious at first when i’m anxious. he can be a bit socially awkward at times, so he’s not always aware of what the best course of action is. he gets better over time as he’s had experience with me. but even after all that he’s still cautious so as to not send me spiraling. but his comfort for me is words of affirmation. he understands anxiety is very much a “stuck in the head” kind of thing and he tries his best to affirm me the best he can. he’ll try to soothe me by rubbing my back or squeezing me in tight hugs because sometimes i’ll chase certain sensory experiences when i’m over/underwhelmed. when i’m having a bad day mentally though, he just spends time with me. we cuddle, watch a movie (forgot to mention this is a more modern like reality), play games, ravish each other… or we just talk.

🍒 ⊹ ࣪ ˖ cherry soda : when you think of them, what is the first song or lyric that sparkles into your mind? why does this remind you of them or your relationship? . . . i’ve shared this song for this exact reality before, but this is literally our song i fear! it’s Puppets for the Gods by Rozie Ramati. it’s a song about lust as well as love that uses greek/roman deity analogies to describe the intensity of it all.

this reminds me of us simply because our first night meeting was very desire filled but also filled to the brim with a strangely sudden love. and since we are in ancient greece it has very fitting wordplay !!

🍨 ⊹ ࣪ ˖ affogato : how does your s/o show love? does their love language align with one of the traditional 5 types, or is it something unique to them? do they have a special way of making you feel appreciated? . . . quality time is the main way both of us show our love in our relationship. we just genuinely spend too much time together. i don’t have a job, so i have a good amount of free time on my hands. and whenever chrys is available we’ll spend time together. it’s just what we both prefer, to spend any waking moment we can together. though he also has been known to love me with words of affirmation. just verbally affirming me when i need it, or even when i don’t. it’s nice to have from him. he does have a special way of making me feel appreciated and that’s by seeing me as more than just a celebrity of greece. to a lot of the people i’ve had… relationships with i’ve just been a prize to be won. and to most of greece, who don’t know me, i’m a rich boy to thirst after. he has, from the beginning, seen me as just a man. a man he was really attracted to, but a man nonetheless.

Simay (top) is the owner of the only kosher kebab house in the neighborhood and occasionally takes freelance sidequests, especially any that let her express her artistic talents or dress up in pastel eyeshadow. She is very good with cats, and they keep her establishment remarkably clean for the time period. Simay's only known personal enemy is a rival taverna owner who sometimes pulls cartoonish stunts to get her in trouble with the local Roman prefect and Health Inspection Services. She comes from Byzantium and already has a very lively backstory, although other characters often dismiss her. (I made her with + based on one of my friends from high school so if her name is more modern-sounding, that's why; this is also where she gets most of her style and personality, and the special cat that she takes care of.)

Seleukos (bottom) is a hopeless romantic, chronically unemployed, and the worst "poet" in Athens; but unexpectedly manages to ingratiate himself with the Emperor Hadrian, who believes his work is just kitsch and a lightly satirical critique of modern decadence. He finds another ally in the prefect, who bonds with him over their shared hatred of the main villain and superficial literary interest that is really an interest in lounging around and talking about boys. Seleukos' main goals-- artistic greatness and true love-- eventually come true in ways he never expected and might regret later.

They are usually involved in Chrysanthos' business against his will, but the duo's combined creative thinking, low social capital, and undying loyalty to each other become useful in the strange situations that they often encounter.

SAINT AQUILA, APOSTLE FROM THE 70 (1st.c)

It is possible that he was a disciple of the Apostle Paul, a native of Pontus and a Jew, living in the city of Rome with his wife Priscilla (they are commemorated on February 13 on the Greek Calendar). During the reign of the emperor Claudius (41-54) all the Jews were banished from Rome, so Saint Aquilla and his wife were compelled to leave. They settled in Corinth. A short while later, the holy Apostle Paul arrived there from Athens preaching the Gospel. Having made the acquaintance of Aquila, he began to live at his house and labored together with him, making tents.

Having received Baptism from the Apostle Paul, Aquila and Priscilla bacame his devoted and zealous disciples. They accompanied the apostle to Ephesus. The Apostle Paul instructed them to continue the preaching of the Gospel at Ephesus, and he himself went to Jerusalem, in order to be present for the feast of Pentecost. At Ephesus, Aquila and Priscilla heard the bold preaching of a newcomer from Alexandria, the Jew Apollos. He had been instructed in the fundamentals of the Faith, but knew only the baptism of John the Forerunner. They called him over and explained more precisely about the way of the Lord.

After the death of the emperor Claudius, Jews were permitted to return to Italy, and Aquila and Priscilla then returned to Rome. The Apostle Paul in his Epistle to the Romans recalls his faithful disciples, “Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my coworkers in Christ Jesus, who put forth their heads for my soul, whom I do not alone thank, but also all the Church of the Gentiles and the church of their household” (Rom. 16: 3-4). Saint Aquila did not long dwell in Rome: the Apostle Paul made him a bishop in Asia. Saint Aquila zealously labored at preaching the Gospel in Asia, Achaia and Heraklia. He converted pagans to Christ, he confirmed newly-converted Christians in the faith, he established presbyters and destroyed idols. Saint Priscilla constantly assisted him in the apostolic work. Saint Aquila ended his life a martyr: pagans murdered him. According to the Tradition of the Church, Saint Priscilla was killed together with him.

ST. NICODEMUS OF MT. ATHOS, SPIRITUAL WRITER (1809)

Saint Νikόdēmos of the Holy Mountain was born on the Greek island of Naxos in the year 1748, and was named Nicholas in Holy Baptism. As a child he was well-behaved, avoiding bad company and everything which might harm the inner man. He was zealous in his love for that which is good and beneficial, and he loved sacred and secular learning. His first education on Naxos came from the village priest, who taught him to love Christ and His Church. He also assisted the priest during the Divine Liturgy and other Services.

Later Nicholas attended the school at Naxos, where Archimandrite Chrysanthos, the brother of Saint Cosmas Aitolos (August 24), taught him sacred and secular letters.

At the age of twenty-six, he arrived on Mount Athos and was tonsured at Dionysiou Monastery with the name Νikόdēmos. As his first obedience, Father Νikόdēmos served as the monastery’s secretary. Two years after entering Dionysiou Monastery, the Metropolitan of Corinth, Saint Makarios Notaras (April 17), arrived there, and assigned the young monk to edit the manuscript of the Philokalia, which he had found in 1777 at Vatopedi Monastery. Editing this book was the beginning of many years of literary activity for Saint Νikόdēmos. He soon moved to Pantokrator Skḗtē, where he was under obedience to Elder Arsenios of the Pelopónnēsos, under whose guidance he studied Holy Scriptures and the writings of the Holy Fathers.

According to the testimony of his contemporaries, Saint Νikόdēmos was a simple man, without any malice, unassuming, and distinguished by his profound concentration. He possessed remarkable mental abilities: he knew the Holy Scriptures by heart, and even remembered chapter, verse, and the pages they were on. Moreover, he could recite long passages from the writings of the Holy Fathers from memory.

In 1783 Saint Νikόdēmos was tonsured into the Great Schema, and spent the next six years in complete silence. On his next visit to Mount Athos, Saint Makarios gave Νikόdēmos the obedience of editing of the writings of Saint Symeon the New Theologian (printed in three volumes: Syros, 1790). This meant giving up his silence and occupying himself once more with literary work. From that time until his death, he continued to devote himself to such endeavors.

One of the ascetic's remarkable books was his Exomologitarion (Manual of Confession), which was published in 1794. This was the first book of its kind in the Orthodox Church. Drawing from Holy Scripture and from the Fathers of the Church, Saint Νikόdēmos lists the qualifications a confessor must have, if he is to be a true confessor, and offers advice on how one should prepare for Confession, how to confess, and how one ought to guard himself against sin after Confession.

The Saint also made great contributions by publishing liturgical books. Using materials from the manuscript collections on Mount Athos, he published sixty-two Canons to the Most Holy Theotokos under the title, New Theotokarion (Venice, 1796).

The most wise Νikόdēmos is also known as a composer and interpreter of hymns. His Canon in honor of the "Quick to Hear” Icon of the Mother of God (November 9) and his “Service and Encomium in Honor of the Fathers who Shone on the Holy Mountain of Athos” are used even beyond the Holy Mountain. Some of his other books include the Heortodromion, an interpretation of the Canons which are sung on Feasts of the Lord and of the Mother of God (Venice,1836), and The New Ladder, an interpretation of the 75 Hymns of Degrees (Anabathmoi) of the liturgical book called the Oktoekhos (Constantinople, 1844).

It is readily apparent that the literary work of Saint Νikόdēmos was multi-faceted, representing more than half a dozen fields of theology: ascetical-mystical theology, ethics, Canon Law, exegesis, hagiology, liturgics, and hymnography. He wrote the preface to the Philokalia, and brief Lives of the ascetics whose writings are included therein. Among the Saint’s ascetical works, his translation of Lorenzo Scupoli’s book, Unseen Warfare (1796), is well known, and has been translated into Russian, English, and other languages.

Saint Νikόdēmos had a special love for hagiography, as attested by his work, New Eklogion (Venice, 1803), and his posthumous book, The New Synaxarion (1819). He completed a Modern Greek translation of Saint Paul's Fourteen Epistles in three volumes (1819) as interpreted by the Hierarch Mētrophánēs, by Saint Theophylaktos, the Archbishop of Bulgaria (December 31), and others.

Saint Νikόdēmos also wrote An Interpretation of Saint Paul's Seven Catholic Epistles (published in Venice in 1806).

In 1799 Νikόdēmos edited the New Martyrologion, which he and Saint Makarios of Corinth seem to have prepared together in order to demonstrate that the Orthodox Church continues to produce Saints, particularly Martyrs, who were subjected to the same trials, torments, and death as the ancient Martyrs. The example of the Saints whose Lives appear in this book strengthened and encouraged the Orthodox to remain faithful to Christ, and not to convert to the religion of their oppressors.

Saint Νikόdēmos prepared a new edition of the Pedalion or Rudder, in collaboration with Hieromonk Agapios. This was printed in 1801, and contained the Canons of the Holy Apostles, those of the Holy Ecumenical and Local Synods, and of the Holy Fathers.

His most edifying book, Christian Morality, was published in Venice in 1803. In it he says: "Those monks who are strong in body and in soul ... should occasionally go into the world to preach and to counsel. Those who cannot go into the world, either because of the passions that assail them when they are in the midst of society, or because they are physically infirm, should seek the good of their brethren through prayer and by offering counsel to those who visit them, and if they are learned, by writing edifying books."1

Not long before his repose, Father Νikόdēmos, worn out by his literary work and ascetical struggles, went to live at the Kelli of the iconographers Hieromonks Stephen and Neophytos Skourtaίos, who were brothers by birth. He asked them to help with the publication of his works, because he was hindered by his infirmities.

The day before he went to the Lord, he was able to make his Confession, receive Holy Unction, and then Holy Communion.

His first biographer, Father Euthymios, describes the Saint's repose in this manner: "When the sun rose on the earth that day (Wednesday July 14, 1809), the intelligible sun of the Church set. The fiery pillar, the guide of the New Israel into piety disappeared; the cloud which refreshed those who were melting in the heat of sin, hid itself.”

His many friends and acquaintances mourned, and the words of a certain Christian were typical of the thoughts of many individuals of that time: “Oh, my Fathers, it would have been better for a thousand Christians to have died today, and not Νikόdēmos.”

Saint Νikόdēmos reposed peacefully at the age of sixty on July 14, 1809, and was glorified by the Church of Constantinople in 1955.

Theodorian of Athens. a young man originally born as female. now in a new body, he itches to have any and every desirable and willing man and woman to know how it tastes. that is until the new actor in his favorite play seems to want a taste, and now his itch can only be scratched by one.

multi-million family business? what’s not to want? The Oracle said wHat?? guess it’s what not to want for him…

nestled in Athenian farmland and fertile soil is the estate of Theodorian’s family. where their company’s first grape farm and winery thrives with the help of the god Dionysus (illustrated above by wolfythewitch), who his family has been worshipping for generations.

the farm has made Theo’s family incredibly wealthy, and also celebrities, within all of Greece, who is supplied with the family’s wine. the family lives lavishly in a large house shared by his grandfather, parents, many uncles and aunts, and few cousins. his father inherited the business when Theo was a child, and has been preparing him to take on the business since then. he is said to inherit the family business when his father retires. but since his grandfather retired long before the average age of retirement in greece, he may inherit it sooner rather than later.

the family often hosts and attends luxurious parties for many high end guests within and outside of Athens. celebrities and businessmen of all kinds pray to the gods to be able to attend the parties Theo’s family hosts. a party hosted by a Dionysus devotee is one anyone would beg to go to, big or small.

rumors have circulated greek news organizations on doubts of the heir’s wants to inherit the family business. and what that would mean for the business as Theo is the only child of the current owner. the public has been ensured by Theodorus (Theodorian’s father) that his child plans on taking over, but that won’t be for a while, as he plans to continue the work for as long as he can.

ʟᴏᴠᴇ ʟɪꜰᴇ

the body he had before his transition was not ideal for his desires. when he had acquired it, the perfect body that even he wanted to touch. every high society party he went to, where many there wanted the heir to a multi-million dollar company, he would take anyone he desired. while he had become well known by greek society for being a quick lay, he wasn’t an easy one. he was picky with who he dragged to privacy. which led to very few one night stands and quite a few continuous partners. which has caused some to think they had “secured the prince” only for said prince to cut off contact with those who bragged publicly about their situation and assumed relationship.

Chrysanthos of Athens. a young man getting his start in acting. and a relatively new devotee of the god Dionysus. he began to give offerings to the god Dionysus to ask favors from him when it came to his acting and theatre career. he steps in for the veteran actor playing the lead role in the play Oedipus Tyrannus when the actor can’t perform, getting his big break.

he’s a sweet man, an introvert, but not shy. he just doesn’t go out of his way to talk to people if he doesn’t find it necessary. he’s passionate about what he does, and determined to follow his dreams. he was hesitant to ask the god Dionysus for favor, bc he felt he wanted to get there himself. but Dionysus kept reaching out to him with the desire to help, and he felt he shouldn’t say no. he’s a great actor but a terrible liar, not that he would lie even given the chance. he’s brutally honest… brutally. he’s found it hard to keep friends as a teen, so he stopped trying. though a few have wiggled their way into his life, and he has had no complaints so far. he enjoys his peace, but that doesn’t mean someone can’t be that peace… noise and all !!

hii!! i’m theodore aka rrezshifts (or rrezrealities on insta) he/him pronouns… my user is based off the last name i chose for most of realities gutierrez !! i’m part of the american shiftokers scrambling for a place to go, and i’ve heard good things about tumblr.

i have a carrd i’ll link it right here it should have the important details about me! but just in case i can also go into a bit of detail here!

i’m 20 years old (born aug. 2004) and i’ve been shifting since 2020! took big breaks numerous times, but i’ve been back this time since… april? hard to say without checking 😭

i LOVE making edits and photo slideshows for tiktok bc it allows me to be creative in ways editing casually for fandoms never really allowed for me. which i want to try and bring here while taking advantage of the wise words of some bloggers who post here too! mind you any face claims in my edits are just for the edits!

My two main characters, best friends from Athens under Hadrian's Empire. I hope they're not unrecognizable from the guys in my sketchbook :))

Chrysanthos (top) is the protagonist of the script. He comes from a wealthy, noble family and has similar political ambition, but he's a bit of a loser and Erasmos is his only friend. Because of his background, he's a little arrogant and always seeks approval from the people above him, but has a secret desire for self-indulgence. Chrysanthos is a Pisces.

Erasmos (bottom) is more charismatic and socially oriented. His family is also politically influential, especially with the local Roman administrators, because of their connections to Magna Graecia, which hopefully explains the toga. Erasmos values the material benefits of these relationships more than their implications for his own career. He's a Scorpio.

theodorian, the son set to inherit a multi-million dollar wine company, made headlines for bringing a date to a grecian celebration. it’s not common for the son of one of the richest men in athens to bring dates to these types of events. when he had though, it was his friends and clearly stated as such. most of the man’s quote-on-quote relationships, never made it past the bedroom according to gossip articles.

the last the public had heard of these relationships was through gossip that the man had found a new paramour, a different person than who theo is seen with now. however, the greek was said to have been seen leaving parties alone less than a week after that gossip came out. more weeks went by as social media pages were dry with any gossip on theo and who he may or may not be with.

now, not too long after the celebration, theo has come out as in a relationship with the date he brought that night. that date has no reports of being a long past partner of the man either. theo and this man have graciously agreed to do an interview on their relationship with me, in hopes of satiating the fans need for gossip and information.

< interviewer > hi! it’s great to meet the both of you!

< theo > you too!

<???> great to meet you too!

< interviewer > let’s start with what everyone wants to know, who are you?

<???> my name is chrysanthos of athens, you can just call me chrys though.

< interviewer > do we get any other information on who you are?

< chrys > um… go ahead.

< theo > he is an actor! and a damn good one. he’s so incredibly talented! he’s a kind man, caring, and determined. he’s also very honest and he’s a hard worker!

< interviewer > is that so?

< chrys > he’s better at describing me then i am. i gave him permission to answer those kind of questions before hand.

< interviewer > to start, theo is a well known name in greece, but especially in athens. did you know about him before you met?

< chrys > not much… i would see newspapers with his face on it and a headline talking about his love life. i had assumptions, but i didn’t think of those assumptions too much. i was more focused on my career, and i was never one for gossip.

< interviewer > did those assumptions affect your first time meeting him?

< chrys > *chuckles* very much so. i met him at his family’s party, i’m rarely invited to parties, especially ones this lavish and big. and i had caught him staring at me numerous times throughout the first couple hours of this party. i had assumed he wanted to sleep with me. so when he approached me, i was expecting confidence and boldness. but instead i was met with awkwardness and stammering. he shook my hand, introduced himself, and when i introduced myself back he said, and i quote “i know.” i raised an eyebrow at him and he rambled out an explanation before making up an excuse to run away. i was shocked to say the least.

< interviewer > do i get an explanation on how you knew chrys’ name?

< theo > why not! a week prior to this party, i had gone to see a play at Dionysus’ theatre as i do regularly as a devotional act for Dionysus. it was a play i’d seen many times before. and every time the same actor played the main character. that night however, chrys had taken his place. i was entranced by him and his talent and the way he performed on stage. i had grown a crush in those first 5 minutes he was on stage that continued until the end of the show. i ended up looking in the plays program to find the slip of paper that explained the veteran actors replacement and what his replacements name was.

< chrys > he had looked me up on social media too.

< theo > no stop! that sounds creepy *covers his face with hands*

< chrys > *chuckles* and i later found out he was the reason i was included in the theatre troupes invite to his family’s party that night.

< theo > me staring at him for two hours straight was me just trying to work up the courage to talk to him.

< interviewer > from the stories the public has heard about you, some would say that’s very unlike you.

< theo > it is! he just made me very nervous. because this time i cared if i fucked it up… shoot! can i swear?

< interviewer > *nods* yes you can theo

< theo > oh okay good! he was one i couldn’t risk fucking shit up with in any way. and it felt like i did! i was terrified! i just ran away convinced i ruined everything!

< interviewer > so how did that first meeting turn into where you are now? or another way to put it, how did you find out you didn’t ruin everything, theo?

< theo > after about 15 minutes of me panicking and anxiously rambling to my best friend, i had felt a tap on my shoulder. when i turned around it was chrys. he wanted to know if we could continue talking somewhere. i looked to my friend and she just motioned for me to go. i told him yes, and he asked if there was somewhere more quiet so i took him to the balcony, which is usually locked during our parties.

< interviewer > chrys, were there any plans going into asking theo if there was somewhere more quiet? sounds very risqué.

< chrys > oh my god, no! it was just really loud and i think i was starting to hear moaning, and i’d never been to a party like that before, so it was more of just a chance to escape.

< interviewer > theo did you think he was trying to get you into bed with him?

< theo > honestly i don’t know what i was thinking other than panicking, trying to focus on my breathing and be as calm as possible. but i believed him when he told me he had no plans to try and seduce me.

< interviewer > so what did you guys talk about on that balcony?

< chrys > i asked him about himself, he asked me about myself. we talked about our family and our childhood. we talked for what felt like hours, but the party still had not died down. half way through someone brought us wine, i barely noticed, didn’t ask. but we both drank away. he asked me about my dreams, offered to talk to people and pull some strings to get me a better leg up but i refused. told him why-

< theo > and i fell for him ever harder because of it.

< chrys > *chuckles* yes, he tells me all the time how much he adores my ambition, and my need to succeed on my own.

< interviewer > and how did the night end for you two?

< chrys > it barely did if we’re being honest.

< theo > *awkwardly laughs* well as you can expect after numerous glasses of wine, and mutual interest, flirting began between us. nothing raunchy more so just…

< chrys > romantic. i would say at least!

< theo > yes very romantic. we would compliment each others appearance in soft ways, compliment each others personality even… then he escalated the flirting to more than just romantic, and next thing i knew i was grabbing his hand and leading him around the corner of our wrap around patio, down the stairs that led to the second floor wrap around patio, and brought him straight into my room.

< interviewer > so you two slept together that night?

< chrys > yes… to be fair though, he did tell me we didn’t have to, that we could just talk in his room. though, fun fact, when i asked if he took all his hook-ups to his room this way, i also found out that his hook-ups think they’ve seen his room, but in reality only see a guest room on the fourth floor.

< interviewer > oh wow! so chrys was important to you, huh theo?

< theo > very much so! he spent the night, ate breakfast (or more so brunch) with my family, and stayed a little into the day until i finally let him leave muahaha !! though i was scared he wouldn’t want to see me again. i brought up seeing him again at breakfast, and he told me, “i was hoping i meant more to you than just one night given that i’m sat in your sleepwear eating omelettes with you at 12pm.”

< interviewer > so i assume you two saw each other again due to our current setting *laughs*

< chrys > *laughs* yes, we saw each other again.

< interviewer > how did you two view your relationship prior to the red carpet event where you, theo, took chrys as your date?

< theo > from the beginning i viewed him as so much more than what any of my past encounters have been. the goal was never just sex with him. i just wanted him in my life, no matter if it was just friends or if it was more. when things evolved, i don’t think there was a label that could be assigned to it. but i basically viewed him as my almost boyfriend, i mean if he asked me to be his boyfriend any time after we woke up the night after, i would have said yes… which some say would’ve been dumb. *laughs*

< interviewer > and you chrys?

< chrys > at the beginning, i was worried i was just one of his conquests. i knew his hook-ups were never just one night for him, and i thought that was my fate. i viewed it this way until, not long after, he asked me to hang out. not have sex, but hang out. then i thought… maybe he wants friends with benefits? which then got quieted down as theo began singing my praises in the most romantic ways, as well as when i began noticing how he looked at me in the most heart wrenching ways. and these actions were consistent, he told me he was seeing no one else, and that he didn’t plan on it either. it was just me. and soon i saw it the same way he did… we were almost boyfriends! until he asked me out the same day he asked me to be his date to the event.

< interviewer > so what was the timeline of you two first meeting and then becoming boyfriends?

< chrys > i would say… theo saw me preform. a week later we met. three to four weeks later he asked me out.

< interviewer > that’s so short! i can’t imagine how sure you two have to be with that timeline! it’s very cute. are you worried about what people may say when they see that timeline?

< theo > personally i am not because i’ve lived through this kind of attention and constant scrutiny from the public my whole life. but i understand chrys has not had that kind of attention and i know he’s worried. which makes me worried for him. i wish i could make that shit not affect him, but that’s not how it works, so i’ll be there for him when it does.

< chrys > there’s so much i know i have to be ready for, and i know it’ll suck. but it’s worth it to be with theo, truly. as long as we’re happy, i don’t care.
