ꜰᴏʀᴍᴜʟᴀ ᴏɴᴇ ʀᴇᴀʟɪᴛʏ 𝓲𝙣t𝙧𝖔

THEODORE GUTIERREZ. a risk mclaren was willing to take, and then took. the italian born, half native american driver made headlines as he took the place of norris in formula one’s mclaren racing team mid 2023 season. fans were in outrage at the decision some considered to be too hasty. outrage poured once again as it was revealed theo was already set to drive for the 2024 season with a contract that, according to leaks, had been drafted up at the start of the 2023 season, ready to be signed at any moment. fans of the beloved team now scold them as they simultaneously hold theo to high standards for his entrance into formula one, and the remainder of the 2023 season. (theodore gutierrez pictured below.)

Junior Racing Career

theo began karting at age nine. competing in local and international competitions. he won several trophies for single races, as well as a few trophies for karting championships. even winning the junior class FIA Karting World Championship title in his early teens. eventually he moved up into the lower formula divisions, where he met a good portion of his friends in formula 1, even if for a moment. but especially oscar piastri, the two first met in:

2016. F4 UAE Championship. both were at the age of 14 towards the beginning of the year. and both were on team Dragon F4. being teammates allowed their companionship to grow more than it would have otherwise.

2017. F4 British Championship. he was 15, later turning 16. and was on the team Carlin.

2018. Formula Renault Eurocup. as he entered, he was 16, 17 when he won and moved on to the next formula. he was on the team Arden alongside Oscar Piastri during his time there.

2019. FIA F3 Championship. as his close friend, oscar piastri, stayed in the eurocup championship, theo moved on. now 17, he races for MP Motorsport with Liam Lawson as his teammate.

2020. FIA F3 Championship. 18 years old, turning 19 by the time he wins second place. drives with the team Hitech Grand Prix alongside Liam Lawson. Piastri wins the championship.

2021. FIA F2 Championship. driving for Prema Racing with Oscar Piastri as him teammate, both boys are 19 at the start of the season, 20 at the end. Oscar wins the championship, theo getting a close second.

2022. FIA F2 Championship. 20 years old as he starts his final season in lower formula championships. driving for MP Motorsport with Felipe Drugovich as his teammate. finishing off the season, now at age 21, with another world championship title, this one F2, majority race wins, and leading the championship for the entirety of the 2022 season.

Love Life of a Formula 1 Driver

getting to know and becoming best friends with oscar was one thing for theo. something he was thankful for. their bond gave theo something more to enjoy when racing and something to distract himself from the worry of not making it. however, falling for said best friend, at the ripe age of 16, after 2 years of knowing him, is another monster all together. not that theo was unaware of his sexuality, he was just too busy for relationships most of the time. he also felt that having romantic feelings for his best friend was a complicated matter. too complicated. too worrying. because he had fantasies now, things he wanted to become more. along with a fear of what it would take to get there and the risks involved with trying. so he dropped the idea of possibilities. but never got rid of the fantasies entirely, they were small fleeting thoughts that made him smile before the anxiety spiked and he quickly shooed the thoughts away.

not long after theo grew his feelings, oscar began to harbor the same ones. he would tell you that they came out of nowhere. what he doesn’t realize is that small pieces of theo’s behavior towards oscar had shifted when he started crushing. the way he looked at him, treated him, talked to him, it was softer. these changes weren’t outright noticed, they did however affect their dynamic. their was something different in the air, they didn’t entirely talk like they were two best friends. oscar was smiling more, replicating the softness theo shared with him. which opened something up in him. he didn’t fully understand where some of the newly developed nervousness came from. or the icky feeling he’d get when theo would say he couldn’t hang out, and that he already had plans. but he figured it out soon enough.

three years later. at the Monaco GP for the formula 2 championship. theodore gutierrez started P14 in qualifying. his Prema teammate, Oscar Piastri, started P8. as the final race raged on, the teammates were at heads as they fought for the third step on the podium. before the race could end the two crashed at the nouvelle chicane. the pair came out unscathed, but theo was furious at his best friend. yelling at him quickly before making his way back to the garage. fans of the sport and their friendship worried as the taller of the two refused to speak to the other after his outburst. only speaking to reporters, meeting with the team and then leaving.

in reality, theo was mad. but not mad that oscar made him lose his chance at another podium. rather that oscar took a risk that could have cost him his life on such a dangerous track. he was mad that oscar had no sense of self preservation in that moment. he was mad that he almost lost his best friend. he stewed in that anger and fear for the rest of the day. and when he got back to his hotel room that night, oscar came to his door. he came with hopes of begging for his friends forgiveness. that it was a stupid fight to have. and theo let him in, but he didn’t let him get a single word he wanted to say into the conversation. instead it was one sided as he shouted at him again. most of the words he had said before. he knew trying to get a word in would be fruitless. so before the lecture could go on too long, oscar grabbed the man, stopping his pacing. he told him to breathe as he guided him to sit down with him. and theo did, he took deep breaths. and as he calmed, he rested his head on his teammate, relaxing while oscar played with the hair on his head. nothing out of the ordinary for the two. until theo raised his head. and their faces were so close that oscar just gave in. theo was entirely shocked, but he welcomed it. kisses spread to other places. hands wandered. and bodies were explored as they spent the night together. after, laying in the aftermath, they talked and confessed. happiness infected every inch of theo’s hotel room. and they both had seemingly gotten exactly what they wanted.

sometime before their next race, however, oscar had spoken with a friend. shared to him about that night. to which that friend shared what the dangers a relationship like that leaking could bring to both of their careers. that scared oscar. he knew theo was terribly anxious about all his hard work amounting to nothing. so when it came time to race around the baku circuit, oscar was distant. full on dodging him at any whiff of theo’s presence. to the general public it seemed that the two best friends were no longer speaking after the crash at monaco. but to theo, it was very confusing. and he never got an answer for it. for the rest of the championship, if theo tried to talk with oscar he’d say “i’m busy right now, maybe later.” then ghost him without explanation. before long though, theo grew tired of the chase and gave up, eventually all out avoiding the man back. oscar would go on to win the F2 championship that year, moving on and becoming Alpine’s reserve driver as theo continued in F2 for the following year. theo and oscar continued to avoid each other if they crossed paths as theo raced his heart out in 2022. he would go on to win the title of 2022 F2 World Champion, getting to go to the FIA Prize Giving Ceremony once again during his career.

making a friend for benefits. the ceremony was… boring. and theo sat through it until, the F1 world champion at that time, Max Verstappen found a moment to invite him to an after party. he agreed. and later on, after the event, theo found his way to the venue. max seemed very keen on having all his attention on theo. subtle flirting found its way in between chats meant for getting to know his younger companion. and as the time passed and the two drank more the flirting became less subtle and more requited. the event for them ended with kissing and a whispered idea on getting out of there early. max paid for a hotel room for the night and the two men made work of it. this wasn’t a one time occurrence, that was never the intention. and the two would meet again a few times before the 2023 season.

as the 2023 season started, theo was now a McLaren reserve driver, and was also, once again, at every race. oscar however was too, of course, as he became one of the two formula 1 drivers for the team McLaren. this making avoiding each other, for these two, much more difficult when they share a garage and hospitality. max and theo remained close, to the general public it read as good friends. to the drivers (and oscar) it read as… suspicious. oscar, as a whole, didn’t like it, his instinctive response was to talk to theo. not about max, but just to try and be friends with theo. start fresh and new. be close again. (as a bonus, maybe get in between him and max). but the man wouldn’t have it, oscar trying to talk to him made theo mad, now with a passion to more actively try and avoid oscar.

new opportunities. lando norris broke his leg the week before the australian grand prix. and as a reserve driver, theodore gutierrez had to step in for him until norris healed entirely. the chance theo was given lasted approximately eight weeks. but not only did he have to drive in landos place, he had to take landos place for press duties… with oscar. it started to get harder to avoid oscar, because of this. and with all the time they were forced to spend together, it was also harder to keep his walls up with him. as he was faced with race after race, he did extraordinarily well. gaining points for McLaren that norris was failing to achieve. theo’s first points in F1 prompted the first sincere physical contact between him and oscar since that night two years ago. the two embraced, oscar initiating the congratulatory hug. as soon as they pulled apart, however, max was next. the elder driver hugging and even grabbing theo’s waist. and oscar’s gut twisted at the sight. for the rest of the year, as theo reverts back to reserve driver, before eventually replacing lando for the remainder of the season. the rookie driver has to juggle his still present feelings for his teammate as he has a sexual relationship with his now coworker and close friend, at the same time.

the context. oscar and i first met when we started racing in F4 together. becoming fast and close friends. and to think it all seemingly ended in F2 years later. that we went from spending most of our time at every race together to avoiding each other like the plague. the man gave in to his feelings, and then took them back because of fear, never giving in or giving them back for us to share again. and as he tried to reach out again, i refused and turned my back, knowing he wanted something simpler than what we could have. until we were forced together again, avoidant behavior being a detriment now. as we became teammates after over a year of running and hiding, with nowhere to go now.

i will do this for my f1 dr juuuust for you 🫶

🍅 — scarlet tomato ↠ what's the juiciest secret you've ever kept or will keep in your DR? the kind of scandalous thing that would positively burst into drama if revealed

when it comes to this dr… i could obviously say that the juiciest secret is my relationship with oscar piastri, my teammate. or even before we were dating just the feelings i kept for him and the past we’ve had. though i wouldn’t say the secret is 100% kept bc i have to tell my best friends about my feelings, so they will know. and also in a way oscar knows my feelings too. it’s just important that it not get leaked to the press or the fans, bc then it would REALLY blow up. at this time no f1 drivers have ever truly had a romantic relationship with each other. (until mack and leo).

though i feel out of all of the messy shit with oscar… having to, for years, from formula 2 until making it to formula 1, just keep to myself about how oscar had feelings for me, how we had a night together and then all of sudden i had to act like none of that was true anymore a couple days later! that would be the juiciest fs !!

🍇 — tart purple grapes ↠ if you could bottle the scent of your favorite memories in your DR, what would the notes be? base notes of parchment and ink for your academic pursuits? middle notes of jasmine and rose petals for a lover you hold close to your heart? perhaps top notes of sea salt and sand for a place you find solace in?

i have no understanding of fragrances so i’m going to do this in the way the question implies where each note (top, middle, and base) each represent a different memory or setting almost.

the top notes i feel would be two different top notes from two different colognes. to almost symbolize the night i spent with oscar. both of our scents tangling together like we did. because that memory will always be a favorite. one i would carry with me for a long while… the time i almost got what i wanted.

i think the middle notes would be sea salt and probably something fruity. to sort of call reference to my love for the ocean and the beach. the amount of time i spend at beaches and tide pools. and the times my friends would take me to many beaches to have simple picnics.

and lastly for the base notes… idk if these are actual scents you can put in perfumes, but like burnt rubber and exhaust/gas. because of my career in formula 1 and just my love for cars and driving fast. however, with this addition i would not recommend this scent to anyone 😭

🍋‍🟩 — zesty sour lemon ↠ do you have any scars in your DR? a little mark on your knee from a childhood mishap on a scooter, or some gigantic mark left as proof of your world-saving tendencies one that tells a story, big or small

this may be shocking considering my career in this reality… but i don’t think i want any scars from driving and crashing in a car of any sort, but especially an f1 car! it just seems too dangerous and risky, and that’s just not something i vibe with. i do have scars in my current reality that i would have in my f1 reality mainly for like grounding sakes and bc i LOVE them. i truly love scars so much.

i have a huge scar the size of like two dimes on my knee from when i tripped and feel and skinned it, then picked the scab bc i wanted a scar. i have that in my f1 reality but from a karting accident as a kid. i have a scar right under my eye, just a little slit, in my current reality. got it from doing “ballerina” twirls in my grandparents kitchen and then slitting my cheek open. it’s the same explanation for my f1 desired reality.

if anything i’d want more scars from stupid things as a kid. like one on my arm, also from a karting accident, more on my legs from rough playing in nature. etc. etc. i love scars so much, they tell stories! make a body so much more interesting !!

i'm answering these questions for my oscar piastri formula 1 reality !!sorry it took so long btw, had low motivation then got busy

🍬 ⊹ ࣪ ˖ candid candy ↠ what photos remind you of the times when you're not on red carpets, talk shows, or camera?

in formula 1 your entire job is on camera, either with netflix following you, doing press, or news outlets on high alert following your every move on and off track. so the times when i'm not being watched and not other people's entertainment is during breaks. either the week long breaks or the two separate months long summer and winter vacations we get.

usually during those longer vacations i spend time with my family and friends. but as i got closer to oscar again, i would spend vacations with his family in australia. him and i would enjoy time with and without his family, often leaving the house to go to the beach or something else like shopping or eat lunch and dinner.

but before me and oscar mended our relationship, i would spend time in monaco. i was offered significant money by mclaren when the signed me to replace norris, enough for me to buy an apartment in monaco. i like walking around and window shopping. going hiking or just walking around the streets around my apartment. that is until oscar moved into my apartment building, and then we begun to hang out together frequently outside of race weekends.

something the general public will never know is the relationship i had for a significant amount of time with max verstappen. it was of the fwb variety, frequent hookups since the 2023 FIA prize giving ceremony until like a year later. i mean i can guarantee several people on our teams knew, but they also knew not to say anything about it. spreading gossip can get the average worker fired in this line of work. i ended things with max when my feelings for oscar got too serious to feel comfortable continuing to sleep with him. he holds no hard feelings though, and max and i continue to be good friends.

🍭 ⊹ ࣪ ˖ lovable lollipop ↠ what characteristics do you have that makes the internet/news outlets love you so much in your dr?

one thing would be my brutal honesty. most of the time i just say things how they are which can be shocking and sometimes funny and entertaining to those who are easy to please. i can also at times have a quick and deadpan wit, AT TIMES. i could be talking to the press about the practice run i just completed and blurt out that i was “shit on the straights, but i’ll figure it out by tomorrow, or you might see me picking up debris with the other volunteers by the next race.”

there’s also the fact that i’m just confused a lot. i have trouble hearing and comprehending shit. i’ll be on the radio with my engineer and she’ll have to repeat herself or move the mic away from her face or something until i get it. which can get highlighted during races at times. not to mention whenever press asks me a question in the noisy media pen, the amount of time i stare at them like they just asked me, someone who didn’t ever start college, to solve a calculus problem… puhLEASE 😭 but i guess those things can be endearing once you’re known for it.

i’m answering these questions for one of my formula 1 realities, specifically my “second one” where charles leclerc and alexandra saint mleux are my partners.

🍬 ⊹ ࣪ ˖ candid candy ↠ what photos remind you of the times when you're not on red carpets, talk shows, or camera?

charles and i were close when i joined ferrari, and for the next couple of years we would spend a lot of time together. when it broke that i was moving to lamborghini, and i hadn’t told charles first, we fell off. eventually we got on better terms, and we continued our time together, now including his girlfriend.

we spend a lot of time on our breaks from racing on classic wealthy european summer activities. yachts, going swimming, staying in big and lavish vacation homes, visiting big cities, walking around monaco and spending time in our apartments.

🍨 ⊹ ࣪ ˖ ideal ice cream scoop ↠ what is something you did not plan for in your dr? something that wasn't ideal but you made the most of?

something that i, or more we (me, alex, and co.) did not plan for in this reality. is something we try to start to plan for as it happened more frequently. which is charles butchering the cooking of any meal and having to get take out. sometimes something just doesn’t taste right or it’s a little more crisp than it should be. the thing is… he has the ability to be a phenomenal chef, that’s why it’s so hard to plan for take out anytime he cooks, it’s like a game of chance.

🍧 ⊹ ࣪ ˖ sincere shaved ice ↠ what inspired you to desire your dr?

i honestly fell head first in love with alexandra, charles girlfriend. but i was like also in love with her and charles relationship. like from the beginning i’ve been praying for them to get married in this current reality. so i just couldn’t break them up. but as i workshopped this reality and experienced more of this 2024 formula 1 season, i fell for charles too. so i just want them both and then to be in between them and like with them. just love for them and from them i suppose.
