had a follow up phone consultation about my iga nephropathy and what it means. turns out i've probably going around with a severe autoimmune disorder and stage 5 ckd equivalent kidney function since i was like 10 years old and just never knew lmao
#:)#the two interesting things about me are the complete lack of symptoms despite very severely advanced renal toxicity#and the fact that my gfr always floats back to the ~12 range no matter what#evidence dictates that earlier in my life i had an Inciting incident which wiped out 90% of my kidney function#and also gave me this chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease#but then i just compensated for having no organs from a young age and so i just Don't feel it#given my numbers if i had just gotten sick in late 2023/early 2024 i'd be so ill i'd be completely bedridden#anyway what Happened last year is a post-covid kidney injury stemming from an IgAN flareup that knocked me from ~12 to ~8#upset the balance and gave me extreme hypertension. you know the rest#basically the gfr improvements i keep seeing are likely the 2024 injury healing back to baseline#the problem is my baseline sits at the absolute bottom of ckd 4 if we're lucky.#so cool that i have no symptoms but the problem will be later in life#since your gfr naturally declines by up to 35 points and i plain do not have 35 points in me no matter what#so i'd probably have rapid kidney failure and death in like 30 years from now that nobody could do much about#since even being on dialysis does require at least 1 gfr point#the other problem is that because it's autoimmune and characterized by flareups#there's about a 1 in 5 chance any transplanted organ will just immediately suffer a flareup and get destroyed#which is fun! hopefully and probably this won't happen maybe#anyway immensely funny that i've been This Sick basically my whole life. it just wasn't relevant

The Insanity of These Times Has Taken Its Toll
Honestly trying to get things done but yanno, I'm a little on edge these days.
I'm dependent on everything the Muskovites want to take from us. And the USAID that the fuckers cancelled is already killing Myanmar refugees in Thailand (one of them died due to the lack of oxygen therapy that was cut off), among other horrid pain/death that is happening from the cutting off of vital healthcare around the world.
Death from this encore clownshow isn't coming, it's here, and it'll be a minute before we start seeing it directly in our neighbors' faces.
I have a longtime friend on Facebook who is on kidney dialysis and who will die if they take his Medicaid, and I as a CKD patient have his future to look forward to (my GFR is poor but not dialysis levels yet...but it's pretty low).
I'm too tired for any of this, and I stg if it weren't for my girls I probably would just cash it in. Y'all kids who had the power to do something fucking didn't because you plugged your ears when you were told that this was the election of your our lives. Y'all kids meaning those who were never inspired to vote and those who never took the initiative and inspired or influenced anyone to vote rationally, and now your pet 🍉 cause will be obliterated by Israel and even more than just Palestinians will die.
And no, I will not go quietly into the fucking night. I'll remind everyone whenever the fuck I want. Your inaction and inaction of those with the power to influence simple fucking minds couldn't even be bothered to do that to save people. Not just 🏳️⚧️ or 🏳️🌈 people, but your fucking grandmas and grandpas, mothers, fathers, siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family members or friends you might care about. People are losing their healthcare/medical care. Healthcare workers are losing their jobs.
We are dying.
All because you couldn't be bothered.
So don't fucking come at me whenever I criticize those in power — including the fucking celebrity influencers in Hollywood, no matter who they are — for not using (abusing, even — these issues need the abuse of UTD postings) their massive platforms and doing shit about the issues that they say matter to them. Some of us have been fighting and opening our traps for decades, and some of those same people are the ones who stand to lose the most in this lawless chaos while those who could have done something did nothing but be the circus while our bread got taken away.
#bread and circuses#medicaid#election 2024#donald trump#elon musk#president elon musk#usaid#usaid funding freeze#it's amazing what kind of lies magats will believe about usaid...or anything that comes out of musk#deaths from CKD#dialysis#CKD#chronic kidney disease#myanmar refugees#thailand#celebrity culture#celebrity influence#politics#voting#kamala harris#would have never have done this to us bros#free palestine#is no more man...trump said flat out it's a demolition site...so congrats#even if we can't own it israel is still going to level it regardless...y'all gave bibi a free pass#but i hope you feel great about yourselves#far left#leftists#tankies#am i even going to be able to get the tests that i have scheduled done now bc now i'm not so sure#the circus cannot sustain us without bread...the citizens will die

hi everyone, i'm in need of some help. i hate asking others for anything, but this is different. as it concerns my babygirl of 13 years, apple. this cat has been with me thru everything. my parent's divorce, horrendous bullying throughout junior high, a couple breakups, a svicide attempt, loss, and much more. she is my rock and i wouldn't be here today without her. she got diagnosed with "kidney failure" by a vet on friday, and they swarmed my boyfriend in the clinic and urged us to put her down. that she wouldn't make it a week. i wanted some more time with her, so i took her home that day. when we got home, i started to panic because i was scared she was suffering, and got my boyfriend to contact his family vet to put her down that same day instead. to spare her from suffering. however, as we were in the patient room, about to sedate her to put her down, the doctor came in and looked at the bloodwork we received from the other vet. he immediately stopped the euthanasia-procedure and explained to me that she was not in kidney failure. that she was about in stage 2 of chronic kidney disease, and that she did not need to be put down. apparently some vets refuse to help cats with CKD and insist that there is no hope and that they should be put down upon diagnosis. but he didn't want to do that. so now here we are, she's back home with me and being just-about her usual self. however, CKD is common in senior cats and apple has it. it cannot be cured, and it is terminal, but cats with CKD can live happy, normal lives if they are given treatment and special care. (i've done lots of reading since thursday-friday.) of course though, vet bills and special food for apple is going to be expensive. so i would like to ask, if you can afford to commission me, or if you would like to donate at all, please check out my ko-fi. it would mean the absolute world to me, my boyfriend, my family, and apple. thank you so very much for reading ♥. please don't feel obligated to do anything, just keep her in your thoughts for me.

Had another silly tangent with the co-conspirator, stemming from him sending me this:

Me: i'm just thinking abt shit gymrat!virgil mighta sent to ro maybe a few years after the ckd dx when ro's got more of his shit together y'know since guy's on a low-sodium diet + has The Depression (and at that pt is able to shitpost abt it) Him: but sending it while roman is actively enjoying a grapefruit Me: granted… i'm stopping to think abt whether it'll fuck w/ ro's meds tho now i need to go look at that medications post to see if they say anything abt grapefruit interaction because gdi pharmacology is always fascinating olmesartan - looks like no bueno metformin - seems okay various diuretics - seems okay SSRIs - not a great idea adderall - more of an acidity issue right after than related to those pesky furanocoumarins so on safe side ro's probably not abt to be eating no grapefruit if anyone knowledgeable has anything to say abt it Him: Janus running into the room and ripping it out of his hand swallows the entire thing in one go to prevent him from whining Visible bulge in his throat as it goes down With roman drooling "that's hot."

A 7-day kidney-friendly meal plan that doesn’t taste like hospital food
You know what's scary? Watching a loved one eat bland, repetitive meals because of kidney disease. You know what’s scarier? The risk of not following a renal-safe diet at all.
Kidney disease doesn’t mean giving up on flavor. This 7-day meal plan for kidney disease by HealthOK Global proves that health and taste can coexist.
Here’s what makes it special:
🥗 Low in sodium, potassium, and phosphorus
🍚 Balanced carbs from white rice, couscous, and oats
🍎 Fruits like apples and berries—safe and delicious
🍳 Smart protein choices (egg whites, lean meats, tofu)
It’s simple, accessible, and above all—made with people in mind, not just lab values.
If you’re a caregiver, family member, or living with CKD yourself, this is the kind of resource that makes a real difference.
💡 Reblog to help others understand that renal health = real food.

In the Beginning…
Today is the last day of National Kidney Month here in the U.S. It’s also the last day of Women’s History Month here, in the UK, and Australia. I wondered if I could honor both by writing about the woman who initiated helping others in the chronic kidney disease world. Let’s see how I do. Have you ever heard the name Ada DeBold? That’s who I’m referring to. The National Kidney Foundation has the…

i can't fault my loved ones for not understanding really what i am going through regarding this kidney transplant. but it's all very hard and isolating and lonely and incredibly scary. i know everyone has good intentions and maybe some of it comes from not wanting to face what this means, but i wish that someone would meet me with space to express these fears without trying to assure me it's going to be okay. because it doesn't feel okay and no one actually knows if it will be okay. maybe my sister isn't a match, maybe i get too sick waiting for a kidney, maybe my severe depression makes my body reject it if i do get the kidney. so many unknowns and all of them are stressful to think about. i am just really struggling with all of it and i am not okay and i want that to be understood.
