Finally making socks like I've been swearing I'd do for ages. Literally found out as I was looking up other colorways that apparently knitters don't like Knitpicks Chroma (what I'm using) because it's single ply and requires handwashing.

As a crocheter, I'm not sure if the knitting issues will carry over. I don't actually know a whole lot about how ply affects structure. But good information for the future. Though I'm not worried about the handwashing part. I have a whole pile of handwashing stuff.

Anyway, I will finish these socks with the Chroma I have and use stuff labeled "sock yarn" in the future. Honestly, I assumed Chroma WAS a sock yarn since it was wool and nylon. When you read up on sock yarns, you hear a lot about needing wool and nylon.

These socks are from an out-of-print book, and I just discovered the publishing house went out of business in 2023. So, if you have any Martingale craft books, consider scanning them and sticking them on the internet archive so we don't lose the information.

I will be doing a scan of the whole book soonish, I hope.

A comparison that no one is going to see!

Well, the comparison its about SMG4 and a famous brazilian comedian called Chico Anysio their archivements are almost similar but, each one is from diferent generation the fact that each 2 knows perfectlly how to make characters

Chico did 100+ characters and Luke did 50 or more

they have fictional city's, scenarios and more and they are good at comedy

Chico is known as "The Master of Humor" and Luke is known as "The Master of Memes"

the rise, the prime and the decline are also similar

First, we start with the rise of SMG4, doing some SM64 videos, witch was very innovative in that era, the prime was the new storys that he created and the characters too, and the decline was after WOTFI 2022, when he changed and for some people, he lost his talent of being funny, but for others, he's still funny.

And it's the same for Chico, his rise was at a extinct TV station called TV Rio on the mid 50s, when he started to use the chroma key power to do his characters, witch was very innovative in that era, the prime started in the 70s and ended at the end of 90s (1999-almost 2000 i guess) when at the start of the 90s, he became more famous as he created a TV show called "Little School", which was used to reveal and revive the careers of several comedians, and his decline was in the start of 2000s, when for some people, he lost his talent of being funny, but for others, he was still funny

SMG4's first video was in May 7th 2011, 1 year before Chico dies

Chico Anysio's death was in March 23th 2012

(and another thing to add on the comparison, both of them revealed and performed with great artists, they have already been involved in many controversies, they have already been harshly criticized and if they continued with their old humor, at their peak (Chico Anysio in the 80s-90s and SMG4 between 2012 and 2020), they would be very canceled (Luke has already been canceled on several occasions), and finally, in the next generation where they begin to live (Chico Anysio in gen-Z and SMG4 in gen-Alpha), they are known for a single work and still, this work is the greatest success of their career (Chico Anysio with Escolinha do Professor Raimundo and SMG4 with The Amazing Digital Circus).

Lisa Marie Patzer’s studio and detail from “Chromatic Landscapes”

Along with its exhibitions and programming, The Delaware Contemporary houses several artist studios. Several times a year the artists open their doors to the public. The images included in this post are from the December 2024 event.

The first images are from new media digital media artist Lisa Marie Patzer’s Chromatic Landscapes series.

From her website about the work-

Employing digital chroma-based processes, Patzer sorted, separated, and reconfigured images derived from more than one thousand 35mm slides. Originally captured by photographer Ben Kabakow during the mid-1950’s, the slides reflect his view of life in New York City and international travel. Lisa Marie Patzer’s treatment of this large archive emphasizes the role nostalgia and personal association play when interpreting another’s visual anthology. The result is a colorful set of vignettes and landscapes that are abstracted from the original context inviting the viewer in for playful association.

Diane Hulse is an abstract, mixed media artist whose work includes painting, drawing, and objects. With a background in science and the fine arts, she explores internal and external landscapes, as found in the psychological terrain of self and the beauty of our embattled Earth. Intensely curious about almost everything, she studies nature, architecture, poetry, spiritualism, and psychology. Just as curiosity is a pillar of her art, so is imagination. A pink ocean or a monster perched on a beach ball are not farfetched for her. In fact, Hulse often pretends that she can miniaturize herself and walk through her paintings. She agrees with Picasso, who said that it is essential for artists to keep alive the child inside of all of us.

Tomorrow, 2/7/25, the studios will be open to the public as part of the monthly Art Loop Wilmington event. The museum will extend its hours to 8pm and there will be musical guests, food trucks, and a cash bar.

Writing Update!

Okay, so still struggling to write anything but making progress.

For the past 2 weeks, I have worked on the following stories;

Soul Drunk - requested (only request I'm doing!) - An alternative ending to episode 9 of The Legend of Vox Machina season 3, where Vax faces the consequences of his deal with the Matron when he's overwhelmed by the souls of the dead after killing the dragon who killed his mother when he was young.

Separation Burns - An alternative universe where Vex'ahlia and Vax'ildan didn't find each other again when Vex abandoned Vax after they ran away from Syngorn, as seen in flashbacks from episode 3 of The Legend of Vox Machina season 2, and Vax falls into the hands of Byron Anders and, in time, the Briarwoods while Vex finds herself in New Byroden.

The Cost Of One Soul - An alternative ending to episode 12 of The Legend of Vox Machina season 3, where Vax pays the ultimate price to save Percy from Orthax and unintentionally gives the demon his soul instead.

Growing Pains - In an alternative universe where the Chroma Conclave don't attack until later on, Vox Machina start hunting down Delilah's cult when Vax is captured by cultists and is used in a ritual meant to make Delilah a new vessel to return in that ends up turning Vax into an infant. Vox Machina find themselves working against the clock to protect Vax while stopping the cult from bringing back the Briarwoods, while Vax has to grow up all over again.

Not My Mark - An alternative universe with a/b/o themes, where Vax is an omega who is forced to pretend he is an alpha by his father until he is caught during heat by the Briarwoods and falls pregnant as a result. How does Vax handle this new trauma? How does Percy react? And could Vax really bring Sylas' kids into the world and raise them as his own? What changes?

And We All Fall Down - An alternative ending to season one of The Legend of Vox Machina where Vox Machina are defeated and taken captive by the Briarwoods after the fight at the ziggurat. Very dark, no good. Just angst, evilness and suffering.

DISCLAIMER - While I am still actively working on these fics at current, there is no guarantee I will finish them as my mental health is ever swinging back and forth like a pendulum, and my motivation is the same.
