Greg should have known better than to say the phrase ‘I’ll owe you one,’ to Sherlock Holmes. This was his own fault, really. After four years, he really ought to have learned by now. But Greg had been tired and desperate and Sherlock had been acting like a stroppy child. The words had slipped out and then Greg had immediately forgotten them. 

In which Greg agrees to pose as Sherlock's boyfriend at Christmas, finally meets the invisible Mycroft Holmes, catches feelings, and has a very happy holiday indeed.

All Is Calm

Someone mentioned that the When You're Fast Asleep series would suit a small Christmas fic... and well, it does. And upon consultation with some people, *spicy* fics are saved for Christmas Day, and these short, softs go well with Christmas Eve. Thanks to Mousie for a quick, oncall beta!

Leaving the office in December, even with the short, dark days, had become a spot of joy in Mycroft’s life. The Lestrade house had holiday traditions and decorations and food and plans, and Mycroft had been adopted into all of them.

Summary:

Mycroft’s lips twisted before he caved in and huffed a soft laugh. “You are incorrect about your assessment of the worst-case scenario,” he said seriously. “The worst that may occur is my social ineptitude upsets your beloved sister to a degree that she sets fire to the house and triggers a gas explosion, which then—”

“The shortbread’s worth it,” Greg interrupted, waving a mock-serious finger at Mycroft. “It’s worth nuclear war.”

🎁 Mystrade Holiday Collection 2024 📚

Just two weeks to go, November 30th, and the collection will open! Like the previous collections it’ll be open and unmoderated, so you can add your own fics and art to the collection. ⛄️

The only rules are that it be Mystrade fic or art, written/created in 2024 and holiday (Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Chanukah, Christmas, New Year's, Kwanza, Winter Solstice, etc.) themed. So if you wrote a Christmas fic in July this year you can add it starting November 30th. The collection will remain open until January 6, 2025. 🎄
