It was quite pathetic, really.

How were you able to spend so many hours on someone's Instagram account? And that someone wasn't even anybody important in your life...well in the current moment anyway

But it's just that you couldn't help it. You couldn't help but look through your boyfriend's ex's platforms

But in your defense, you just wanted to find out about her. But you didn't expect to act this crazy about it. It was almost comical how you seemed so obsessed with her if it wasn't so sad that you were trying to find reasons why they even broke up, and how you were able to catch your boyfriend's attention. Because how can anybody even compare to that?

You feel a sense of dread fill you as you imagine them acting all cute together. Can you do that? What if Chris wakes up one day and decides he wants to get back with her?

Lost in your negative train of thought, you didn't hear the door opening and your beloved boyfriend walking in with takeouts from your favorite restaurant. You didn't even hear him when he was calling your name

Chris walks up behind you to see that you are on a somewhat familiar Instagram profile, he also takes note of the way you are frowning as you scroll through her photos. Most of them he's never even seen since he had no contact with her since they last talked about their breakup

Well, it wasn't like that was his biggest concern, he was more worried at the expression on your face. Now, he wasn't a mind reader, but he could at least tell that there was something that was bothering you

"What are you doing?" You almost jump in surprise when you feel him rest his chin on your shoulder

"Just you know, looking through Insta." You reply cooly as he hums in response

"Is that all?" He asks

"Yep." You smile as you turn your head to face him but he merely gives you a knowing look as you sigh

"It's nothing important...really." You try to brush it off, but that is far from the truth. Insecurity was eating you up alive, you just didn't want him to think you were childish for getting jealous over an ex (Though in your defense, she was a definite catch)

"Alright, I won't force you to say anything." He says calmly, "But I hope you know that you can always talk to me." He finishes as you bite your lip, contemplating what to do. Should you open up to him? Should you just keep it to yourself?

"I-it's just that..." You start quietly

"Just that...?"

"Your ex is too amazing, you know?" You frown, fixing your sitting position on the couch to face him properly, "Just, she's so cool, pretty, talented, and smart! How is that fair? How can I compare to that? How can I beat that? How could you move on from that? Just how?" The words just kept on tumbling out of your mouth as Chris listened intently, not cutting you off and letting you speak out your thoughts

Once you were done, Chris remained silent for a few moments, waiting to see if there was anything else you wanted to say

"Is there more?" He asks softly as you shake your head and look away from him, too embarrassed to even face him

"Alright, I'll talk now then." He says calmly before softly making you face him

"You know I love you, right?" He begins as you nod, he was always sure to assure you he loves you after all

"I'm not going to disregard your feelings on this. But I've moved on from her, I don't even have any connections to her anymore." He explains as you listen to him intently, but still, you have a hard time keeping eye contact

"I'll say it again and again no matter how many time, and I'll prove it time and time again but I love you." Finally, you meet his eyes to see them have such a soft look. For you. Just for you.

"So...you really don't think of her?" You mumble as Chris chuckles

You frown at him but it soon melts when you feel his finger gently rub your cheek

"How can I when I already have you?" You blush at his words, you think that no matter how long you and Chris have been together, you don't think you'll stop growing so flustered when he was like this. So sweet, so soft, and oh so reassuring

"You always know how to put me at ease, don't you." You smile coyly as he hums

"I try my best." He smiles before leaning in and sealing the discussion with his lips, and just like always, he was able to make you feel loved.

He knows when to not though, if Miyuki's having a rough time he actually goes out of his way to keep the pitchers off his back so he can have time with you

Other than Mochi, I don't think he really gets jealous, just annoyed and even with Mochi it's more annoyance

Note: Been feeling unmotivated to write, so I decided to tap into my love of Chris and of irl baseball to do some dialogue practice. Thank u to the daiya server for motivating me and to @paleokarst for talking over the ending :*

“What’s that?” You give Chris a quizzical look as he steps through the front door carrying a large plastic storage box in his arms.

“Hello to you too.”

You pad over to give him the usual greeting kiss. “Yeah, yeah, welcome home or whatever. Now tell me what this is.”

“My parents found it while cleaning out their basement and I thought you might want to look through it together.” He sets it down in front of the couch. Reaching inside, he pulls out one of many smaller cardboard boxes and opens it to reveal a neatly-packed row of cards. “They’re my old baseball cards.”

“Seriously?” The box is in your hands in an instant and you immediately begin rifling through its contents.

There's a few minutes of focused silence until, “OH MY GOD,” you exclaim, brandishing a card at him. “This can’t be his real name. Dick Pole?! Dick. Pole.”

“Sadly, it is,” Chris chuckles before holding out a card of his own. “Here, I found one for you.”

“NO. His name is not Rusty Kuntz?!”

He snorts. “Actually, it’s pronounced KOON-tz.”

You erupt in cackles. “I mean…if my name were Rusty Kuntz, I would also insist that it’s pronounced KOON-tz.”

“What else do we have here— hello, what’s this?”

Glancing over, he sees you reach for a small leather binder. “Oh that’s where I kept my special cards.”

“Your special cards?” You tease, “god little Chris was such a little nerd.”

He rolls his eyes, pulling you closer to give you a peck on the head. “Well you’re the one dating me so what’s that say about you?”

“That apparently I like nerds,” and pointing to one of the cards, you urge, “now come on nerd, tell me what’s so special about this guy.”

“Ah, that’s Bob Gibson. He’s a Hall of Famer, probably the best right-handed pitcher in St. Louis history. He was good at fielding too, which is rare for a pitcher. He worked hard and led the team to two World Series wins.”

You flip through a few more pages. “Wow you have a lot of this Iván Rodríguez guy too.”

“Well, he was my favorite player growing up and maybe the best catcher of all time.”

“What makes him the best?”

“He’s a solid hitter and his defensive play is exceptional. He’s got unparalleled game sense and a great strategic mind. Um, he’s caught for some of the best pitchers of the era and he caught nine no-hitters. The only way you can have a no-hitter is if the battery works perfectly, so that means he was able to bring out the best in a lot of different pitchers. Plus, he was always fun to watch.”

“Is he why you became a catcher?”

“You know…” Chris contemplates for a moment, “that’s honestly never occurred to me. My dad was obviously the reason I started, but I played a lot of different positions before deciding on catcher. Dad was the one who suggested I try it — he thought I had a good understanding of the game — but you might be right, maybe I stuck with it because I wanted to be like Iván.”

You hum in response. “Makes sense. The way you described him…he clearly has a lot of qualities that you value as a player.”

It’s long past dinner time when the two of you finally tire of strolling down memory lane and begin to tidy up the mess of cards now littered across the couch cushions and coffee table.

“What are you gonna do with all of these?”

“Well right now I’m going to put them away. Then I’ll probably give some away and throw away the rest.”

“You’re not keeping any?”

“Nah. It’s not like they’re worth anything.”

“Well in that case, I’m gonna keep these.” You swipe the leather binder from the box before he carries the rest off into the storage closet down the hall.

“What do you think?” You gesture toward the refrigerator when Chris returns.

Some of the precious real estate on the fridge door has been tidied up, and a cleaned-up Rangers magnet now holds his signed Iván Rodríguez card front and center, nestled between memories. To its left is a picture of him with his parents and Coach Kataoka after his first game with Seidou. Below it is another picture of him and the coach, this time graduating from Seidou alongside the rest of his teammates. To its right is a picture of the two of you at his MLB debut game, your smile toothy and gleeful as you hold up the ball from his first major league hit.

A lump forms in his throat.

It’s just a baseball card, one fleeting snapshot in the collage of moments that make him, the values that shape him, and the people that support him.

It's just a baseball card, but he can barely get the words out. “It’s perfect.”

-> Father with the most humor. Loves making their children laugh. Whenever their child is sad, all they have to do is make a funny face, do a little dance with them, or even make a funny drawing, and that child is no longer feeling sad. Also, those types of dads that say "ya momma" to their kid (like that ain't his wife...) Truly one of the best kinds of father to have.

-> Father with the scariest face, but the purest heart. These fathers may LOOK terrifying, but these men are gentle with their kids. The faces that they have may look like they are able to murder someone (they could) but they are like the neighborhood dads. They have their house open to everybody, as long as they respect it. They do have a bad side tho. So just watch it and there will be ZERO problems!

-> Father that is scared, but loving. So scared to be a father. Now don't get me wrong, they LOVE their child/children. But the thought of not being good enough for them leaves them wondering if they are cut out for this. Yet, all of those worries wash away when their child/children are clingy towards them. Their child absolutely adores their father so damn much. They have the best bond with their children, a bond that will always be cherished

During break, one of the guys from the basketball team, Hikaru, always hosts a party for the whole school, to be more specific, the sports teams and whoever they were friends with. Luckily, you and your best friends, Izumi and Haru, received an invite. This didn’t come as much of a surprise though, considering Izumi was friendly with most of the people from school. Unluckily, your ex-boyfriend was there as well.

The breakup with Takashi was bitter and awful, to say the least. You two had begun dating during both of your first years after meeting at one of his basketball games. Up until your parting, things were going so well. You were happy as was he. That is, until Takashi cut things off.

“I’m sorry, Y/N, but I can’t keep going on with this relationship. I need to focus on basketball and the team. Having a girlfriend just takes up too much of my time…” Takashi rubbed the back of his neck as he looked anywhere but your face. His expression was stiff and it was obvious that he was uncomfortable- ‘Why is he uncomfortable? I’m the one getting broken up with!’

You didn’t take it too well. To be fair, you two had been together for nearly a year and he had never given any signs of wanting to end things. His excuse of focusing on the basketball team was utter bullshit. He acted as if you didn’t attend nearly every game, like you didn’t support him.

“Oh my god, guess what I heard,” Izumi said, mischief apparent in her tone.

Haru looked over at you with a knowing look in her eyes, “What?” the two of you said in unison.

Izumi continued, “Apparently, according to Yui, one of the guys from the baseball team-“ she stopped abruptly, eyes widened and looking behind your back. “Don’t look now, Y/N, but Taka- I said don’t look!”

Her words faded into the background of booming music and conversations as your eyes locked on Takashi. He waded through the crowd with his head swiveling around, his gaze, yet again, anywhere but on you.

Despite your friends trying to divert your attention, you couldn’t help but feel your heart ache, your face burn with embarrassment. The humiliation you felt was still evident and you wanted nothing more then to make him feel the same way.

Without thinking, you whipped around and your hands found purchase on a boy who was far taller and far more built than you were. You gripped his forearm while leaning close to him, peering up with a frown gracing your features. The boy’s eyes widened when he gaped down at you. Now that you were getting a good look at him, you realized just how attractive he was. Before he could even open his mouth to speak, you beat him to it.

“I am so, so sorry for this, but my ex just walked in and I’m so embarrassed and I don’t know what to do.”

You rambled to the boy, cheeks heating up and definitely turning red. To say you were flustered was an understatement. Here you were— clinging onto some random stranger at some random party, all because of your stupid ex-boyfriend.

“It’s alright… you’re Y/N, right?” his voice was cool, almost soothing.

He knew your name?! Why did this cute boy know your name and why did you not know his?

“Yup, that’s me,” you let out a breathy chuckle, suddenly feeling more embarrassed than before.

Your mystery boy gazed down at you with the slightest smile, one of his hands gingerly resting itself on your hip. His touch was electric and surprising, though it was not unwelcome.

“Then, Takashi is your ex?”

The question soured your smile, causing you to nod curtly. His hazel eyes flashed with amusement at your quick mood change. You had to admit, this guy was getting more and more cute as you stared up at him, his brown bangs nearly covering his eyes and lips quirked into that placid smile. “I never got your name.”

This boy was nearly embracing you while you didn’t even know who he was. “Chris, I’m a third year.” Oh great, he was your upperclassman.

“Well Chris, it’s very nice to meet you,” you stated. Your eyes subtly (not so subtly) traveled across the expanse of his broad shoulders, and then to his arms, muscles carved and evident. The t-shirt he was wearing was doing him justice. “You must play a sport,” you cough and finally returned your gaze back to his own, his clearly filled with humor at you trying to cover up your gawking.

Chris held eye contact, “I’m on the baseball team.” As he spoke, you found yourself unable to break the eye contact. He had a certain air, calm and collected, yet his hazel gaze magnetic and deep. Why have you never seen this kid before?

Izumi and Haru shared a wide-eyed look when you leaned into the boy’s hand that was snug at your side, the both of them surprised that you got comfortable with him so quickly. They knew Takashi had totally ruined you after his pitiful attempt at ending things, but they hadn’t expected this. Nonetheless, if it made you feel better, they’d cheer you on. And if it pissed off Takashi, of course they’d support this cause.

While you spoke with Chris, Takashi had finally noticed your presence at the party, eyes drifting to the way Chris so casually held you near him. Takashi’s brows furrowed and a frown etched into his expression.

Chris glanced up when he felt the burning feeling of someone watching him. Lo and behold, there stood your ex-boyfriend, practically foaming at the mouth as you stood on your tippy toes to whisper into Chris’s ear.

“Is Takashi staring?” you hummed, one of your hands resting on his shoulder. With you leaned in so closely, he deliberately slid his hand across your lower back

The two girls that were bearing witness to this giggled to each other, “This relationship is moving pretty fast~…”

Chris responded softly, “Yes, he looks angry.”

That sounded like music to your ears. Although he had absolutely no right to be jealous considering he was the one that broke up with you, you felt rather triumphant. Takashi got to sulk as you nestled up to this hunk of a baseball player. You were killing two birds with one stone.

Chris smiled down at you as you beamed, clearly lost in thought over this situation. He didn’t mind helping out, in fact, he was glad you chose him. In all honesty, Chris had noticed you long before this party, and long before your breakup with Takashi. He had seen you in the hallway between classes, whenever you’d walk by with your friends on your way to lunch or the library. On occasion, Takashi would be walking alongside you instead, your hands intertwined while you looked up at him like he was your world.

“Yo.”

You whipped your head around at the gruff tone to find Takashi standing in front of you and Chris. Your ex-boyfriend had an unpleasant expression on his face, lips pursed, cheeks flared red and eyebrows scrunched. Nothing about how he stood stiffly as he stared Chris down was appealing.

You sighed, “Yes?”

Maybe it was the way Takashi tried to puff his chest to seem bigger, or maybe it was the fact that Chris had run along with your little game without question, but you felt no interest in associating with Takashi anymore.

Yes, you had originally wanted to make him jealous, make him feel the way you had, but your fixation had totally disappeared.

“Can we talk?” Takashi frowned, “in private?”

The question had your stomach turning. Did you really want to talk to him? After everything that happened— the heartbreak and humiliation, was he actually worth your time?

It seemed as if Chris read your mind and decided for you, “I don’t think so, she’s busy.” The hand on your back pulled you in closer to his chest, warm against your skin. Everything he was doing was deliberate, a showcase for Takashi.

“She doesn’t look too busy, man,” Takashi was losing his patience with every breath he took. His hands were balled into fists knuckles white with force. And with every second he grew more angry, you grew more anxious. The idiot was hot-headed and acted on his frustration.

“Takashi, lay off,” Izumi crossed her arms against her chest and scowled at him. The comment might’ve sent him overboard if he had even noticed your friends before, but he merely tossed them a glare.

As you worried, Chris was completely lax. He had a few inches on Takashi and was clearly more built, days and nights spent swinging bats, catching wild pitches and running the grounds clearly paying off. Chris liked to think one of his strong suits was his self-control and awareness. He didn’t lose it over minor nuisances, and right now, Takashi was a minor nuisance. He was a fly that wouldn’t stop buzzing around your head.

You shuffled against Chris’ arm and began to retort when you realized just how mad he was getting, until a hand rested upon Takashi’s shoulder. Hikaru had come over to check on Takashi, noticing that his teammate was practically trembling with aggravation, and wanted to diffuse the situation before a fight broke out. The last thing he needed was a fight at one of his parties, especially between two of the sports teams.

“Hey man, come check out this video one of the guys just showed me,” an easygoing smile plastered on Hikaru’s lips. The hand on Takashi’s shoulder tugged him along, with him resisting only for a second before succumbing.

Chris watched impassively as the basketball player sulked off, head down and tail between his legs. With him out of sight, Chris pulled his hand away from your back and gazed down at the relief on your face. You felt cold now without the contact.

“I thought that was going to end so badly,” you huffed out.

Realizing that the problem was now gone, you looked around for your friends who had, only moments ago, been observing you like you were some type of specimen. Only now, they appeared to have become sparse. ‘No way they left me here after all of that!’

“They left right after Takashi,” the bass voice of your former companion answered your thought. Turning back to him, you grumbled, “I’ve been abandoned.”

The chuckle that Chris released was… mesmerizing? It was deep but hearty, flowing out so easy that you wanted to tell another joke— wanted to be the reason he laughed again. Maybe this didn’t have to be the end of, well, whatever your relationship was.

You wanted to keep his attention, spend your evening running around this stupid party with him in tow.

“Let’s go raid Hikaru’s fridge?” You flashed an award winning smile, hoping that he wouldn’t refuse your amazing offer.

Chris, with a gleam in his eyes, laughed again.

“Lead the way.”

Viktor cooed at his little pack of humans, (name) resting against the couch without a care in the world while watching some show that made absolutely no sense to the demon. His Yuuri was watching study videos of himself and what he did during the last skating match... Writing notes about the mistakes.

The house was decorated to the brim, Yuuri mentioning how (name) loved western Christmas and the Japanese man always made sure the house looked like Christmas threw up on it.

It had been five months since Viktor was summoned into the humans lives, (name) took to him immediately and began following him around almost as much as he followed Yuuri though the second Yuuri came into the room; Viktor meant nothing to the boy.

"Do you have anyone you wanna invite for Christmas?" Yuuri asked after taking his notes and Viktor hummed "demons don't typically celebrate such a holiday... Though my friends would try and celebrate the day I was forged from the bowels of hell..." Yuuri took a second to process it before realizing "your birthdays Christmas!?" The demon shrugged "it was just a reason for them to cause even more mischief than usual..."

"You should invite them! We can have a birthmas!" Yuuri was rarely this excited, usually keeping his cool "you want to have my friends over... Yuuri you're aware they're demons right?"

"So are you and you haven't hurt me"

Viktor watched his mate get everything prepared, Christmas foods and a birthday cake sitting on the kitchen table, a mirror design with white and blue marble effect, fruits and such decorating it with a happy birthday sign stabbed in.

"Yuuuuri!" Pitchits voice called out while entering the apartment, holding gifts and such "whose ready to celebrate and then when my god sons asleep we get wasted!"

Yuuri rolled his eyes playfully when the man placed alcohol on the kitchen table, some mixers and juice boxes for (name) who recognized the box and immediately smacked his god dad's leg "peeese!" He yelled out, bouncing a bit from excitement and after the nod of approval the boy was given a box of juice with the straw stabbed in "ank yuuu!" He said happily and ran out into the livingroom to see Viktor, the Alpha waiting for his friends arrivals.

"Hello, little bunny" Viktor lifted him up and sat him in his lap "are you excited?" (Name) Nodded and sipped his drink, he wasn't sure why he was excited but everyone else was so therefore he was also excited.

Viktor could sense his friends before they even made it to the door, setting little (name) on the ground to go answer "bonjour~" Chris said happily with a bakery box and gifts "Yurio is just grabbing something~" the blond said happily and Emil popped his head from behind "I brought Seung-gil!" He dragged him closer "Sara and George will be here withing the next fifteen~"

Yuuri walked into the Entrance hall, confused at the noise but offered a kind smile to the demons in disguise, Chris offering a flirty grin "hello~"

"Chris, he's mine" Viktor hissed and the other fake cried "tragic...." Then his eyes moved towards the tiny human, (name) already finished his juice box and looking at them curiously... Specifically their foreheads "baabaa!" He pointed and Chris chuckled nervously, forgetting children so young can see spirits.

"Oh! That's the food, come in come in!"

Yuuri was giddy while everyone mingled and chatted, Viktor holding his hips while he puttered "darling, enjoy your party" he said softly, ignoring how Chris was laying the moves on Pitchit and (name) was surprisingly being an excellent wingman for Yuri seeing as Otabek loved kids, especially his best buddy (name).

"I have to get the pie out..." Yuuri grumbled with no bite and Viktor took his hands and led him out into the party where everyone chatted happily and (name) was chilling with his god dad, looking a little sleepy on the Thai man's shoulder while he chatted away with Sara. "Papa..." (Name) Reached to Yuuri who took his son gently and kissed his head "domestic surprisingly suits you" George said casually while Yuri looked his brother up and down "Yura, meet my mate and son"

Viktor sighed at the blond and (name) looked over at his step uncle and gave a little wave "Kibby" he mumbled before letting out a yawn "I better put this one to bed, he had his fill of fun and turkey"

Yuuri brought (name) to his nursery, the room dark and quiet and changed the boy into his footie pajamas and brought him to his crib "I love you baby" Yuuri whispered and (name) yawned and the turkey slowly kicked in.

Yuuri walked out and watched his loved ones and new friends interact, who knew alcohol made people actually get along and with a few guests it was more than a simple getting along.

"And Viktor..." Yuuri whispered to the silver haired demon who hummed "Yes?"

"When they leave... I have a special Christmas gift for you... It's red, small and has minimal fabric"

"Can I please kick them out now?"

"Absolutely not" Yuuri walked off to talk to Otabek and Viktor growled and followed.

we all know chris is one of the coolest characters in daiya: he’s charismatic, smart, talented— and is patient so he’s great for you! he is so interested in your hobbies and help you if you’re struggling with math and physics, he’ll spend so much time helping you study. chris wouldn’t mind expressing your love and appreciation for him, because he loves it when you’re happy. he’ll do the same by acts of services, like walking you home, good morning/ good night texts, and even subtle kisses on the forehead and cheek! he’ll criticize you during your not-so-hot moments but will look back on it as a funny memory. he admires your intelligence and will learn a lot from you as a person. in addition, he always knows what to do when you’ve done a complete 180, and when you’re not in your greatest mood, he’s doing everything he can to make it easier for you. doing your assignments, chores, whatever— because cares about you and doesn’t want you to frown. if you say something that hurts him he will communicate it with you. in your insecure moments, he will take the time to remind you why he loves you so much.

Most of his first few advances were actually just his teammates talking to you for him while he stands there

He will eventually be able to talk to you with the encouragement of his teammates

It could speed up the process if you go to one of his games and see the “other side” of him, especially if you catch him after the game and the adrenaline high is still affecting him

He’d probably greet you and talk to you without noticing for a bit before remembering himself and shrinking back into his quiet self, but now that you’ve seen it, he’s a bit more confident in front of you

Since words aren’t his strong suit, he may try giving you things, just small things like drinks and snacks from the vending machine

We all know this man is a flirt

And boy does he flirt with you

But he kinda does that with everyone so it’s hard for you to know that his feelings for you are any deeper, and he’s aware of this

So he makes time for you, hangs around you, goes to your class during breaks just to bother you

He asks you a lot of questions to get you to speak more than him

Probably offers to walk you home to try to show that it’s you that he likes and not anyone else

If another guy gives you attention, he WILL get in the way

“Oh this Saturday, (y/n) is busy. They’re coming to my game. Right (y/n)? See, sorry, maybe another time.”

“Oh by the way, I think you should come to my game, and maybe after we get something to eat.” He says to you after the guy leaves.

If you were talking to another guy, he could probably just walk up, sit beside you and start rolling up his shirt sleeves to expose his forearms and you’re distracted
