Red and brown leaves crunch under your boots as you rush across the commons, phone glued to your ear as your brother’s rants berate you from the other end of the line. You’re missing out on weekend tips to deal with your burn out brother and his stupid friends.
“You didn’t think you’d have to get your story straight just in case you got arrested?!”
“I didn’t really consider it a possibility. I was thinking positively!”
You groan, shoving your key into the ignition of your death trap of a car. “Well, the power of manifestation won’t help you now.”
“Will you please just come pick me up?” You almost tease him about the desperation in his voice, but something tells you it’s a bad idea.
“Yeah, whatever. How much is bail?”
“Ah, forget bail, sis. You’re gonna have to use that money for my lawyer.”
“What the fuck did you do, Chris?”
-
He stole a car.
Not just any car; a vintage, 1967 Cherry Chevy Camaro belonging to none other than Officer Carver. What a fucking moron.
Carver’s had it out for your brother since he was promoted to Chief of Police, not that Chris didn’t make himself an easy target. At fourteen, your older brother made a habit of stealing from the corner store near your house. He’d come home out of breath, backpack stuffed with a six pack and several candy bars he'd used to bribe you not to tell your parents. You’d taken them with little more than an annoyed huff then, but this wasn’t just cheap beer and a couple Milky Ways. This was the Chief’s car, his baby. You’re pretty sure he loves that thing more than his own son. It would explain a lot. You get to the station as the sun is setting, tinting the sky with orange hues. Inside, it’s mostly quiet save for the phone ringing and the chatter of a couple uniforms. “Hi,” you greet the secretary, who looks bored beyond her years as she types away on her ancient computer. “I’m here to see my brother, Chris L/n.”
She directs you down the hall, where the sole cell in the building holds your big brother inside, sitting on the wooden bench with his head down.
”Hey, idiot.” He looks up, face splitting into a shit eating grin.
”Hey, little sis.”
”What the fuck did you do?”
He snickers, as if this is just another prank, a practical joke! “Thought it would be fun to take Carver’s bird out for a joy ride, sue me!”
“He’s doing worse than suing you, Chris! He’s pressing charges!”
He snorts, then attempts to hide it with a cough. “Yeah, but it was worth it.”
You groan at your brother. “How’d he catch you?”
Chris shrugs. “His partner was out on patrol or something, obviously recognized his own car. Caught us red handed.”
”Us? What poor sap agreed to this stupid idea?”
Chris’s smile is seemingly slapped off of his face. “No one. Did I say us? I meant me. He caught me.”
”Chris-“
”Miss? You need to leave, we’re transporting this suspect to the penitentiary shortly.” The secretary hadn’t made a peep behind you, causing you to jump at her voice. She escorts you back to the lobby, where she hands you your cell phone and keys back. You’re about to leave when you hear his voice from across the room.
“You’re free to go this time, Munson, but don’t think I won’t have my eyes on you.”
The boy chuckles as Carver removes his handcuffs. “Oh, I’m sure you will, big guy.”
-
one year later
The gavel hits the wood. Chris is sentenced to five years in prison for grand theft auto. His fate had been sealed when Eddie took the stand, testifying as a witness. “I was in the car with him. I told him to stop, but I couldn’t convince him.” You watch, stunned into silence, as your brother is taken in handcuffs to the big house, the same cocky smirk still on his lips.
Eddie got one hundred hours of community service, because he’s eighteen with no priors, but you can’t help fuming as you watch him walk free; someone you used to call a friend, someone your brother cherished so much, turned completely against the both of you. How fucking dare he.

hello mischief fandom. as you may have seen, we got the very exciting news that the play that goes wrong is coming back to new zealand. however, because of the new tour, the play that goes wrong australia/new zealand instagram account has wiped all of their old posts from the previous tour, which means that all of those videos are gone forever.
as you all know, i am a dedicated lore collector, and i had previously been through every post and written down any and all lore from it, so even though i didn't have the videos themselves saved, i do still have a list of all of the lore we received from the account. so, in memory of the previous aus/nz tour, i am going to share all of the lore i have written down from the account. enjoy!
in melbourne, chris had tried to book the princess theatre, but they were put in the comedy theatre instead. when he asked trevor about it, trevor said that the mormons were at the princess (aka book of mormon). chris didn't understand what he meant by this. this implies that chris might not have heard of the book of mormon.
robert described the drama society as "a rich tapestry, just like the carpet"
trevor and annie said that when you join something like this, you expect the actors to be really cool people, but once you get there, it’s not like that at all.
annie has described sandra as "hot" mean.
trevor said that sandra's not a great actress, and "wouldn't get a start on neighbours" (a famous australian soap opera that launched the careers of actors like margot robbie, kylie minogue and natalie imbruglia). it's also worth noting that brooke satchwell, who played sandra in the tour, was in neighbours for four years.
max said his dream role would be one of the ones from jurassic park, specifically the sick triceratops.
sandra tried to insist that the drama society is like family (probably not genuinely) and one of the asm's (called maggie) disagreed.
max does a gag where he puts tissues on his eyebrows to look like an owl. he called this an "intervowl", a rare owl that only appears during the interval.
jonathan's family has been involved in the film business for a long time, but he'd mostly done modelling up to haversham manor. he thought doing the show would be a good chance to learn transferable skills, and he described it as "really eye-opening and a really wonderful learning curve". he said "anything to get more experience", and he thinks he's really developed and has come a long way. he thinks the next step would be a part with more lines (foreshadowing ppgw).
max said that his uncle gave the company quite a lot of money and then asked if max could be in the show. (this goes against regular canon, as this is more of the backstory of ppgw rather than tptgw).
sandra wants to get paid to do promotional videos, which someone off camera agrees to do, although the caption clarifies that she is not getting paid for it.
sandra claimed she got offered a lot of money to be on i'm a celebrity (presumably the australian version, but there is a british version so this still works).
robert had never heard of canberra and annie had to explain to him that it was the capital of australia. when he asked "what's there", annie didn't know.
max convinced trevor to go up the sydney harbour bridge with him (i didn't clarify whether they walked the path or actually climbed it. up to interpretation i guess). trevor claimed it "wasn't much to look at" and said it wasn't very good, saying it's just high up. max said that it was "so much fun" and that they should do it again, and he likes it when he jumps up and down on the wood they're standing on (which trevor immediately stops him from doing). they took heaps of photos together and somehow max's eyes were closed in every single one.
when chris was trying to film a video, annie and trevor tried to tell him that there was a fire, and chris told them to take care of it and go away. trevor also tells him that dennis is hurt, and chris once again tells him to leave. once he's finished filming his video, he runs off to deal with it, complaining about this happening "every five minutes".
during a promotional video, sandra tries to claim that haversham manor is a one woman show where she plays 8 different characters. she says that if you want to see any images or her showreel, to go to www.sandra.lee.com. (i'm not 100% certain that 'lee' was the word used, as chris interupts her, and this could also be spelled differently, such as 'leigh', so take this one with an open mind).
annie has a mini series involving a unicorn pillow pet, named penelope. she documents penelope's journey through getting ready for the show. these next dot points will be from that series.
jonathan “calms penelope down” on gala night. annie says that jonathan has a lot of experience with galas due to his modelling career, and he shares this knowledge with annie/penelope. annie also calls him a gentleman.
penelope “helps” trevor before the show. trevor looks disgusted/annoyed about this.
dennis likes to have interval naps, and will hug penelope during these. these naps are apparently on the floor
penelope “gives chris some last minute tips”. chris apparently insists that penelope can’t talk, which annie claims is wrong.
annie says that "even tough guys need hugs", while showing a picture of robert hugging penelope.
i have to put the rest of this in a reblog, because tumblr has a character limit, so check the notes for the rest of it (some big ones in there!)

For the kiss prompts (if you still want them) can I please request Buddie + good morning kisses? I'm such a sucker for those🥰
Hello Anon! This is the first time I've posted anything Buddie (Only recently watched the show and fell in love with them), so, I really, really hope you like it :)
***
There’s a part of Buck that still can’t believe this is real.  That in the aftermath of his coma and the lightning strike that he and Eddie had both come to realize that they’re friendship was not-at-all normal and they’d much rather be together than spend another minute apart.
The confession had come on the heels of Buck getting out of the hospital and Eddie insisting that Buck stay with him and Christopher despite his parents arguing that they would stay with him at his loft.
The way that Buck had looked at him hoping he would save him had Eddie blurting out that he’d be staying with him and Christopher because he needed to be somewhere that’s healing (and they learned with his broken leg that alone in his loft wasn’t the answer, hence why he ended up staying with them after two weeks back then).
Buck can’t help wondering how they didn’t end up together back then sharing Eddie’s bed and acting like a couple should’ve given them a clue, but well, they’ve been clearly oblivious.
He doesn’t care how it happened, he’s just grateful that on getting home (to Eddie’s) and Christopher off to sleep that Eddie confessed.
“I know I probably shouldn’t have jumped in and assumed that you wanted to come be with me and Christopher, but I love you and I hated the way that they were making decisions for you after all the shit they’ve put you through.”
Buck had only heard one thing… “You love me?”
“I – uh – don’t – I mean, I don’t – can’t … ruin this… friendship.”
If Buck thought that he meant he loved him as a friend that stutter wouldn’t make sense, and after his coma experience and the way that he felt when he heard about Eddie and Chris in that dream, he knows how he feels now.
He’s never been the best with his words, so he pulled him close and kissed him passionately.  Right in the middle of their kitchen and never looked back.
It’s only been like a week, but Buck’s happy to wake up in the mornings wrapped up in Eddie and met with sleepy eyes and lazy kisses.
Especially when he’s awoken by those kisses.
Eddie’s always the one waking up first and he always leans in to kiss Buck’s neck, his cheek, and then, once Buck’s eyes open, his lips.  There’s something special about those lazy, good morning kisses.
He hums as he feels Eddie’s lips against his neck, and then, his cheek.  He knows what comes next and he’s thrilled that in a week, they’ve already developed a happy routine.
He blinks his eyes open, and Eddie leans forward, brushing his lips, somewhat cracked from sleep, against Buck’s.  It’s lazy and comfortable and not meant to provoke anything, but Buck always chases the kiss back when Eddie pulls away, putting him on his back and leaning up above him.
They’re both grinning by the time that Buck pulls back.
“Good morning,” Eddie breathes, sounding slightly out of breath.
“Good morning,” Buck grins.  He glances as the clock and notes that they still have a couple of minutes before the alarm goes off.  “Any chance you wanna make it a great morning?”
Eddie laughs.  “We don’t have long enough for all that, but I think we can spend a few minutes making out if you don’t mind a little morning breath.”
“Not at all,” Buck assures him.  “Best way to start the morning.”
He doesn’t wait for a response before kissing him again, thrilled that Eddie seems to agree… at least until the alarm blares and they have to start their day officially, still, those few minutes every morning are worth waking up before the alarm, always.

Thanks for Reading :). Thanks for the ask, if you wanna play along, send me a Type of Kiss + Pairing.

Hey lovey,
How are you doing? First and foremost, I’m so happy to have stumbled upon your blog—I absolutely adore your writing. You have such a beautiful ability to convey a story even in such a few words.
I know I’ve already requested a little something before, but in the event you do find time, and interest in my request, would you write something else for Chris?
Your latest blurb with Harry and Chris reminded me of a fic I read a while back about reader being Chris’ younger girlfriend and him being quite jealous and uncomfortable of her closeness to Harry Styles, given his age.
If you are comfortable, I’d love to see your take on Chris and a younger reader, who’s in her twenties. I don’t really have a premise in mind, but I feel given his history with anxiety and desire to settle down he’d be second guessing his decision to be with someone younger and maybe even feel insecure.
Thanks, sweetheart. 🤍
You are so sweet, thank you so much for reading and requesting 😭💞
Tumblr media
“Right, which is exactly what I told him…before I realized he wasn’t even listening.”
“Oh, he never is, no. Unless you’re talking about statistical reports or the number of shares involved, he won’t have a fucking clue what you’re talking about.”
“See, that would have been good advice before I wasted half an hour of my life trying to explain why Jack and Rose both being able to fit on the door was a moot point.”
Harry laughs as he crosses his arms and leans back against the wall. “Oh, well, now I’ve gotta hear this.”
Pleased to share, you clear you throat and sneak a glance at Chris. He’s heard this spiel a hundred times, and he smiles knowingly as he nods at you to continue. “Okay, well, obviously they both could have fit. Duh, that’s the first thing they try in the movie. But the second Jack climbs on top, it starts to sink, because it can’t support both their weight. Therefore, they both would have frozen to death, and Jack made the choice to die for her.”
Harry smirks, head shaking as he glances down at the floor. “Well…shit.”
“Exactly,” you agree. “I will die on this hill, it’s such a stupid argument. Because even if things had been different, Jack still would have chosen to die for her because that’s just who his character was. And, honestly? I think we can all agree that saving Leonardo Dicpario just…isn’t worth it anymore?”
He laughs again as Chris slips an arm around your hip and grins down at you.
“You…might have a point," Harry muses.
“Thank you,” you sigh, before you feel a familiar sort of tapping on your waist. You straighten up. “Anyway, thank you so much again for inviting us to your show. It was…so great to see you again, Har. Really. You’re doing so many amazing things. And I’m really proud of you.”
A lifetime of memories pass between you as Harry meets your eye and offers that understanding smile you’re so used to.
“Anytime,” he says gently, throwing a grin to Chris as well. “Seriously, both of you are always welcome. Just let me know and I’ll make it happen.”
“We might just take you up on that,” you smirk before the tapping on your side increases. “Thank you again, and hey—good luck on your tour.”
“God, yeah, thanks,” he laughs as the rest of his team begins to fervently gesture him over. He winces. “I’m gonna need it.”
With that, he tosses you both a wave before the three of you part ways and disappear down different ends of the hall.
The drumming continues all the way down the corridor and even after you’ve rounded the corner.
It’s not until you find yourselves alone that you place your hand over Chris’s and give it a firm squeeze. “Okay, all right. What’s wrong?”
You slow to a stop, quickly turning to face him as you watch him sigh and look down at the floor. “Nothing. I’m fine, I’m just ready to go.”
But you know him. You know each nervous tic. You know he only taps your hip when he’s anxious. When he needs a reminder that you’re there.
“Chris…” you try again, fingers tangling in his shirt as you tug. “You promised.”
He looks at you, eyebrows weaving through the lace of guilt as he slips his hands around your wrists. “I know, but it’s nothing. Really—”
“Baby—”
“I…just…” He sighs yet again, one palm dragging down his beard. “Look, I know…I know he’s a part of your past. Okay, I know that. And I accept that, I just…I don’t know how to not…think about it.”
Your head tilts as you squeeze his shirt a bit harder between your hands. “Think about what?”
He goes quiet for a moment, eyes flicking between yours. “If you would have been…happier. With him.”
You lean back, almost as if struck by the very notion. “Why…baby, why would you say that?”
He runs his tongue over his bottom lip and shakes his head, seemingly embarrassed. “I know. I know, I just…you guys have a lot of shared history, you know? And I know he’s closer to your age, can maybe give you things that I can’t. So, seeing you guys together, it just…reminds me that I’m not…that I can’t be your past the way he can. That he’ll always be a part of what led you to me…and I just…I fucking hate that.”
With a wounded heart, your eyes soften. “And what is it you think he can give me that you can’t?”
“I don’t know. A husband that you don’t have to push around in a wheelchair,” he huffs, and there’s a hint of teasing, but you know he’s not kidding. “And he’s probably got a little more stamina than I do these days. Can go more places, do more things. Be who you need him to be. And being with him would probably open a lot of doors.”
“Okay, well, I can open my own doors, thank you,” you playfully retort, and you’re rewarded with a gentle smirk. “I’m gonna be honest, it sounds like you think about him a hell of a lot more than I do.”
He snorts and glances off down the hall. “Funny.”
“I mean it.” Your fingers tug once more on his nice dress shirt. “I knew what I was signing up for when I agreed to go on that first date with you. I knew people would talk about our age difference, and I knew there would be things we’d have to work out. I knew. And I still said yes.”
He looks back.
“You know why?” you whisper, now reaching up to press your palm to his cheek. “Because adult diapers or not…I love you. I always will. You’re Captain fucking America, for pete’s sake! And obviously it’s not about how you look. It’s about who you are…but you better believe Harry was eating his fucking heart out when he saw who he lost to.”
He laughs. In that familiar, boyishly charming way you’re so obsessed with. “Wow, thanks. No, that was good. That was good. I’m cured.”
Your response is to reach up and press your lips into his. Firm but loving. Filled with every promise you might never be able to verbally make.
But every promise you plan to keep.
For a moment, he stills, seemingly taken aback by the sudden rush of intimacy. But, after a moment, his hands find a home on your waist, as they always do, and he seems to unwind.
And once you’re sure he’s begun to release some of his anguish, you pull back to see him. Really see him.
“Baby…and I need you to really hear me when I say this…you are the best goddamn thing that’s ever happened to me," you whisper, overcome with emotion.
He smiles, exhaling a gentle laugh as if amused with your effort but you’re far from done.
Your grip becomes a little harder. “I’m serious, okay? Things with Harry…were fine. They were fine. And yeah, maybe he’s a small part of what brought me to you, but you…Chris, you? You…are fucking everything.”
The smile slowly slips off his face at the earnest fervor in your voice.
“Every day when I wake up and see you in bed—in our bed—it reminds me that you weren’t just the right decision. Okay, you are the only decision. You are the only thing that makes sense for me. The only person that I need to be with. Fuck the past. The only future I want looks like you. It is you. You are all of it.”
And you’ve never meant anything more, and you can only hope that he feels exactly how much he means to you.
His expression softens as he releases a deep breath and slips his palm around the back of your neck to keep you close.
“I know that doesn’t fix it,” you tell him gently. “I know that. You think I like running into Minka Kelly and remembering your past? Fuck no. But there is nothing—and I mean this—that Harry could have given me. Nothing. I don’t even—I mean, I can’t even imagine what a future with him would have looked like. I don’t want to imagine.”
Your touch moves to his chest once again, fingers tapping over his heart.
“When I see him, I don’t think about anything else but you,” you continue. “Honestly. I mean look at you. Come on. Harry doesn’t stand a fucking chance next to you. Not with that receding hairline of his and the complete lack of communicational skills. Seriously, you were such an upgrade for me, it’s not even funny—”
He dips down and kisses you again. Harder this time. As if to say everything he doesn’t know how to say aloud.
“I love you,” he whispers, nose nudging against yours. “I really, really love you.”
“I know,” you whisper back, smiling rather giddily. “And I mean it, Christopher Robert Jamal Evans. You are the best goddamn thing that’s ever happened to me.”
He groans playfully at the use of his full name but kisses you again anyway.
And you let him. Because kissing him feels like coming home. It feels like finally finding your place in the world.
It just feels…right.
“Take me home,” you murmur the moment his tongue swipes at your bottom lip. “Take me home and make me your future.”
And who is he to say no?
His arm quickly loops around your lower back to tug you into his chest before he leaves you with one final reminder of who he is to you.
And you don’t imagine you’ll ever forget.
“Promise,” he says, smirking victoriously as his hand travels to your ass to give it a quick squeeze.
And you laugh before leading him out of the arena, hand and hand, the anxious tapping now nowhere to be found.
And you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

In general Ryan gets so mistreated and overhated by the fandom and it makes me sad because I really like Ryan even in my first playthrough :/ I get that the part where he was arguing with Laura about the existence of werewolves when he watched Nick transform and run out the window was kind of dumb but he’s all around a great character who’s brave and helpful and he helped save everyone’s lives in the best ending….
While I don’t agree with all of their actions I can’t bring myself to hate on any of the counselors. They’re all young adults who are stuck in a horrifying and traumatic situation, of course they’re going to be flawed and not perfect. It just baffles me how Travis, Constance, Jedidiah and Eliza do the most horrible things in the game yet people viciously hate on Ryan : (
Oh, the actual adults in the game are absolutely The Worst. (Even Chris, though I think he wants to help, is incredibly negligent at best).
I think there are a few things happening here that can turn people against Ryan (and I'm not saying anyone has to like him as a character, we all have characters we vibe with and ones we don't, but it's worth examining why we don't vibe with some characters especially when those characters are Black or other POC, LGBTQ, and ND-coded).
Ryan is a victim of some of the less compelling writing choices in the game IMO. They don't have anything to do with his character, really, he's generally well-written, but some of the things that were cut from the game, and the way the relationships unravel in the latter half of the game does Ryan kind of dirty.
First of all, his relationship with Chris Hackett isn't fleshed out enough for a lot of players to understand why he's willing to sacrifice so much on the hope that his mentor isn't actually a werewolf (or a deeply irresponsible asshole of a boss). If they'd left in the scene of Chris following up with Ryan about following his dreams and going to animation school and the initial confrontation with Chris that was patched out, where Ryan questions how he hid this from them all this time when he cared about them and Ryan trusted him (literally heartbreaking to watch tbh 🥺), it might have been a little easier for players to empathize with his loyalty to Chris. This kid has no known father, absentee mother, aging grandparents, a sister he clearly feels a lot of responsibility for, and his father figure who he goes to for advice left him in the worst possible situation. Of course he's going to be in denial about that and about him being a werewolf until he sees it for himself, and then Ryan has to kill him. It's so fucking tragic. And he doesn't even get a second to mourn or even react because the Silas plotline kicks in immediately (and they spent all the animated tears budget on Jacob).
Then there's Ryan's relationship with Dylan, which I could (and will) write about for days. Based on the game we got, plus the cut content, I don't think Ryan was ever supposed to have the option to get with Kaitlyn. I think that's a red herring that allows homophobic players to avoid a gay kiss (kind of a fucked up use of a BAMF character and Brenda Song's star power but, ok). I don't think he was ever supposed to get to romance Laura either. But I do think he was meant to be able to either end up with Dylan, or decisively not end up with him. If they'd kept the relationship system that we still have traces of but no actual structure for, then his ability to say 'maybe neither' to Laura wouldn't be something players held against him because it would have a basis in the choices we've made as Ryan (and Dylan) so far. As it stands, it feels like that is unsupported by what's happened in the game when we've had Dylan and Ryan flirting with each other and taking an obvious interest in each other since they were introduced.
Even if you choose the less favorable dialogue options, Dylan and Ryan are never really shown to be truly at odds (with the possible exception of the gun argument, but even that pretty much smooths over in the end). Even if you have them be hard-headed assholes to each other, they still have their heart-to-heart on the way to the radio hut (which I really think was supposed to have an alternative if they had low relationship stats).
Complicating matters is the fact that a lot of people really love Dylan. Obviously I'm one of them, I mean, look at my url and writing choices. I think Miles gives the best performance of the game, hands down (and I think all the actors did really well tbh). He's a great actor (his line reads are flawless and that sassy boy body language? I die.) but he also gets a lot to work with in terms of the script. Dylan is complex and compelling in a way that tends to be highly relatable for most people. He's probably neurodivergent (ADHD) but it's portrayed in a more palatable way for neurotypical people. Plus, as an audience, we are primed to empathize with the person who wants to be wanted, who is afraid of rejection, who has the cute crush that we want to see reciprocated and is trying not to get their heart stomped on. We've all been there! That's a centuries-old trope in drama and literature for a reason. And while Ryan does not owe Dylan reciprocation, we see some pretty clear signs of it at least being possible. So the game sort of dangles it in front of players like we can make that happen with our choices and then makes a half-baked attempt to snatch it away. That annoys people and, I think at least partially because Ryan's race and stoic demeanor (/autism) have people subconsciously primed to view him negatively, they take that out on him instead of the SMG writers who opted for that rather than fleshing out the relationships any further for the latter half of the game.
Like, yes, it's a horror game not a dating sim (Ryan and Dylan dating sim DLC when tho??), but you spend so much time building relationships that end up not mattering to the outcome of the game, I get why that's frustrating for people. It's frustrating for me! I just think being mad at Ryan over it is the wrong take. I still see people saying "Dylan deserves better than Ryan." Dylan and Ryan both deserve to exist in a finished fucking game where we have the option to get them together or not, but blaming whatever happens, or doesn't, on Ryan as a character is kinda trash.

Not trying to psych him but, I keep coming back to the “like” Chris gave to The Rock’s IG post about how having kids saved his life. I think Chris is banking on recreating this family image he lost when his parents split. He has never gotten over that. It’s a deep rooted pain and he’s counting on a wife and kids to heal it and finally make him truly happy. It won’t. Happiness is not a destination and no child or marriage can heal you. In fact, you should do your healing before having either!
I also think he’s disappointed in how his career is ending. It’s one thing to decide you want out. It’s another to have audiences decide they don’t care if you go! Especially with LY. I remember how excited he was for that one! The premiere! The toys! I bet he could imagine his own kids playing with those some day and loving that movie. Now, I bet he can’t even watch it. It’s all tainted now because that one movie lost as much money as he’s ever earned. Piggyback that with TGM, Ghosted, now PH getting horrible reviews? This is not a confident man that can just absorb these hits and bounce back. His fragile ego can’t stomach criticism; he flees at the very idea of it.
These two things will converge: the family thing won’t heal him and the career failures will eat at him, causing him to get antsy. Alba won’t be like his mom. The kid thing won’t be a storybook. His peers will win more and more awards. Something will give. But, this was what he wanted. He chose her. He chose those roles. I think with both he was looking for the easiest, least challenging, least effort needed options. He forgot the best things in life are worth working hard for.
Yes, we need to tone it down a bit when reading too much into him; I think he could very well want a family as simple as that too; it’s common for a lot of men with his resources to go into this stage at that age; I have a feeling he’s going to be a good dad, or I hope so. But I do see your point because the truth is a lot of this looks like there’s a middle age crisis in the mix; and I agree he idealizes his childhood and his parents’ split must have affected him and we don’t know to what extent.
About his career; I think he’s aware and has accepted it; or maybe the right word is resignation. There’s obviously no way that amount of High expectations -> Failures does not get to you somehow even if you have different priorities now; specially when you’re sensitive to criticism.

I said just put this up and it's true he used to help a lot of people of yours and there's something a lot of us is helping you because society is keeping itself together. But it requires work and this Trump Clinton wants to torture him and using election is an excuse and just try and extort things so far they've lost huge fortunes to Mac proper and they're losing more stuff and we're fighting it and trying to prevent it and they are rude people and have evil plans for the Earth and he has to fight them while he's trying to help no he's helping he's doing it now on nothing he has no income just social security and it's subsistence pay and he's in trouble all the time with financially and has these Indians following him around and stuck to him. Luckily everybody can see almost everything happening because of them and they're going after these two and the rest of their crowd and Tommy F too was shooting at him this is a terrible terrible way to treat someone and to allow to happen a few dollars might help. And his mom has a site up for her little sister who's in a car accident and it's for the health concerns and she's really trying to raise some money to get by here with it's hard to live here and she's nearby she's not in Charlotte county no she's in Charlotte county but needs assistance and their minority and ultra minority and nobody's really doing that everybody is treated them badly and bja can witness and testify that he is worth something and he himself can't do it alone there's others too Mac Daddy has been saved many times but there's too many people who are negative here you just want to put him in a warehouse and and try and waterboard him into doing something I mean this ridiculous the notion is ridiculous it never works throughout history this guy is Young and is Trump and his Charles Manson and he's a fool and you're losing your entire life's Fortune letting him sit there next door it's gross and we're getting very angry with people none of you have gone anywhere with this idiot nearby him.

I’m going to add my two cents to this because I HAD SO MANY THOUGHT WHEN I WATCHED THIS LAST NIGHT and I simply cannot.
I don’t think the Buckleys were redeemed in the episode necessarily. I don’t think that’s what happened there. Because the coma episode is primarily about Buck. Buck said it in the comma world he said they don’t have to ‘make it up to him’ and that he knows they did their best and he will love them forever. Because Buck is good at doing as he preaches.
The whole dream is about Buck learning his worth beyond what other people see in him. Arguably his whole character arc is learning who he is beyond what people want from him. But in this episode Buck is fighting against his own insecurities and learned behavior. He tells Bobby how he saved him by being Buck. And that was Enough.
As you said Bobby has shaped Buck in more important ways than his parents ever did which is why he has an actual conversation with Bobby. A back and forth that makes him realize that being Buck is enough. That’s the big part. The important growth that shapes him. And from that he is able to make the choices that safe his life. He tells Chris that he can’t help him, not because he wouldn’t literally die to help Chris. But because he knows that helping Chris in this specific scenario where he isn’t real will be detrimental to Buck and it won’t help Chris. It shows that Buck is learning that helping at the cost of his own well being isn’t the right answer. He talks to his parents and tells them he loves them anyway. And they did the best they could. Not because his parents have earned his forgiveness, or because he is redeeming them. But because he deserves to forgive them. It isn’t about redeeming them. It is about allowing Buck to heal from how they hurt him. It’s Buck letting go of the hurt and that expectation of love and validation because he doesn’t need it from them anymore.
Buck can’t change how his parents behave, or treat him or how they might or might not feel about him. He has spent his entire life trying to do that and it has been painful and damaging to him. But he has grown a lot since joining the 118 and meeting his real family. The people that love him, accept him and validate him just for being Buck. So when Buck tells his dream parents, the ones in his head. The ones he created for himself that he doesn’t need them anymore. He is telling himself that his parents’ validation isn’t something he needs anymore.
He does the same to Daniel, he tells Daniel it isn’t his fault that Daniel dies and when Daniel starts fighting Buck and Buck realizes that he is fighting a version of himself. The version of him that blames him for ‘failing’ that tells him his family doesn’t care for him that he is worthless. He is fighting his own insecurities, and he wins against them. Because he has grown. Because he has true unconditional love. Because he saw Bobby take out the rosary beads.
I agree that Bobby and Athena are Buck’s parents in a way the Buckleys won’t ever be. But the thing is the Buckleys are still people Buck loves. Throughout the previous episode they parallel The Buckleys to the Hans. Chimney has a similar relationship to his Dad than Buck to his parents. Chimney realizes that he is building a family of his own and that he doesn’t want to make the same mistakes as his Dad- allowing his hurt and pride to keep him from his family. Similarly Buck learns that while he can’t go back and change how his parents treated him or saw him he can learn to accept what they can offer him now. It can be enough. Not because his parents deserve to be redeemed but because he wants a relationship with them.
When the whole Daniel thing came to light his mom told him that looking at him was a reminder of the son they lost. That raising him had been hard and she asked what he wanted them to do. Buck responded that he wanted them to love him anyway. So he won’t make the same mistake. He knows they can’t give him that unconditional, love and support a parent is supposed to. But he already has that. He has Bobby and Athena in his corner already. So he won’t ask that of them. He can love them as they are because they are trying. Maybe one day they’ll get to the point where they are good parents, maybe they will always be too loss in their grief to reach that but Buck is going to love them anyway. Because that’s what he has always wanted from other people. Because that’s what Bobby has taught him. That sometimes if you love people through their bad they will get better on their own. Because he has.
Now me? Personally? I would have put them in a home and never looked back. But Buck is a better person than me.
i think my roman empire is how it feels like the buckley parents' redemption isn't supposed to be in the whole coma storyline. buck's desire to stay in the coma world being fundamentally rooted in how there he had that classic nuclear family growing up with parents who love him implies that he still doesn't have that in the real world. at the end of the episode, he says that his family isn't in the coma world, and makes the deliberate choice to step away from this perfect family he always wanted and toward the 118 family he already has. but if we take the redemption (specifically how the show framed the simplicity of their redemption) seriously, they are actually around and buck has a great relationship with them, discounting their role in buck's coma. i'm not saying the buckleys being around completely contradicts what buck went through and realized in the coma i actually really love the arc! family is much more nuanced than there/not there so buck's desire to have parents who always showed their love for him rather than parents who showed up after 29 years, even if they are trying now, does actually make a lot of sense! but the weight the episode puts on how the buckleys are magically fixed and buck instantly brings them back into his life.
in the thematic core of the episode as well as the show as a whole, bobby (and athena too) has a much larger role than the buckleys in shaping buck, helping him find the way out, showing him that he's wanted. buck realizes his own importance through his relationship with bobby, and how even when they fought he still cared about him and his actions were able to change both of their lives for the better. it's not simple, it's not always positive, but there's always this unconditional aspect that they keep fighting back to. and yet the episode still ends with the buckleys back in buck's life, without much of a fight to reach a common ground of conversation. yeah, they may not have ever been around before but now they're offering to redecorate his house 👍 all's good here problem solved
it's a truly fascinating contrast between bobby and buck's hard-fought growth and connection over the course of the series culminating in this ep, and the buckleys' past issues with buck largely ignored in favor of easy, clean resolution because "well, they're trying this time". one of these feels deeply connected to the themes of the show and the progression of its characters, and the other sticks out from the show's narrative like a sore thumb.
tldr fuck the buckley parents all my homies hate the buckley parents happy belated father's day bobby nash <3

ahh that's amazing! thank you in advance. I got this idea into my head: what if there is this one time they're all on a call, and maybe it's something that hits a little too close to home for Buck, maybe it's playing on his fears and insecurities, but the moment Buck sees what they're dealing with he gets SCARED, and freezes, and subconsciously grabs Eddie's hand, because Eddie makes him feel safe. He is his best friend (who he's in love with, ofc) after all. Eddie is well. Surprised. Very much.
Anon! Thank you so much for your patience with this one! I know it's been ages since you sent it in. I hope it's worth the wait and that I did justice to your prompt! (CW: drowning)
Eddie feels Buck tense up beside him as soon as Bobby tells them where they're going: Splash Zone Water Park. They have calls to pools fairly often, and Buck always gets a little bit tense going into it, no matter how long it’s been since the tsunami. Eddie presses his knee against Buck’s in the truck, offering a silent comfort to his friend. Buck seems to push down his fears by the time they pull up to the scene, forcing himself to shift into Firefighter Buckley mode as they make their way through the park. Eddie lets himself be relieved, until they arrive in front of the wave pool.
Of course it’s the goddamn wave pool. Even worse, there’s a nine year old boy laid out on the stone patio next to the pool, dripping wet, brown hair plastered to his forehead. He’s unconscious, bleeding from the side of his head, and his chest isn't rising and falling like it should be. Buck freezes immediately at the sight, reaching out for Eddie with his right hand, and wrapping his fingers around Eddie’s left wrist. It takes Eddie a moment to realize that Buck is feeling for his pulse, grounding himself.
Eddie does his best to steady his breathing and heart rate once he realizes what Buck is doing. The sight in front of them is upsetting to him, of course it is, but he knows it’s worse for Buck. He’s not the one who walked around for hours not knowing if Christopher was dead or alive. He’s not the one who almost died himself (at least, not that day.) “It’s okay,” he murmurs quietly, so only Buck can hear. “I’m here, I’m alive. That’s not Christopher.” It’s purely a medical call at this point, so he makes no attempt to move away from Buck as Hen and Chimney begin administering CPR to the boy. His mother is crying, wailing, begging them to save him. His lips are turning blue. Buck’s grip on Eddie’s wrist is like a vice.
“We got a pulse!” Hen finally calls out.
Buck’s grip doesn’t loosen, but Eddie does hear him let out of a heavy breath. He twists his hand out of Buck’s grip just enough that he can slide his arm up, so Buck is no longer holding his wrist, but is holding his hand. He gives Buck’s hand a firm squeeze and finally hazards a glance up at the man in question. Buck is staring at their intertwined hands now, confused. At least, Eddie decides, he’s distracted from the drowning boy. He runs his thumb along the back of Buck’s hand, in what he hopes is a comforting gesture.
He knows they’re crossing some kind of line here, that hand holding in the middle of an emergency scene (even one where their presence turned out not to be strictly necessary) is not something that he’ll be able to brush off as strictly platonic. It doesn’t scare him like it used to, though. Maybe it’s because he watched Buck date Taylor, so he knows how much worse it would be to not have Buck, or maybe it’s all the therapy he’s been in since the shooting. Either way, Eddie’s not afraid anymore. He and Buck have been on the edge of something--or maybe everything--for months, so if holding Buck’s hand will help ground him, keep his mind from thrusting him back in time, then it’s a risk Eddie is willing to take.
Hen and Chimney are loading the boy into the ambulance--he is breathing again, still unconscious and probably severely concussed, but alive--when Bobby finally makes his way over to them. He takes in the haunted look in Buck’s eyes, and the fact that their hands are still tightly clasped together, and frowns.
“You boys alright?” He asks, but he’s looking at Buck.
Buck nods slowly. “I--Yeah. Just...Brought up some bad memories.”
“This was a rough one,” Bobby agrees. “I’m gonna take us off rotation for a while when we get back to the station.”
“Thanks, Cap,” Eddie says. Buck doesn’t say anything.
Bobby smiles in that warm, fatherly way of his, looking between them. “Take care of each other.”
As if there’s any universe where they wouldn’t.
Eddie doesn’t let go of Buck’s hand until they get back to the station, and only because he needs two hands to cook.
“I’m not hungry,” Buck says, still hovering in Eddie’s space.
“You were about to eat before the call came in,” Eddie insists gently. “You need to eat.”
“And you’re gonna cook for me?” Buck shakes his head. “I think I’ll take my chances with starvation.”
Eddie rolls his eyes, pulling out a griddle and a clean spatula. “I think I can handle grilled cheese, Buck.”
Buck’s mouth opens and closes in surprise. “Grilled cheese?”
“Maddie may have mentioned making it for you a lot growing up.” Eddie flushes slightly at having to admit he’s talked to Maddie about Buck. “I thought it would be comforting.”
Buck stares at him, eyes wide and mouth turning up into a tentative smile. “Yeah, it is.”
“Good,” Eddie smiles back. “Now, go sit down.”
Eddie bustles about the kitchen, pulling out the good buttermilk bread that Chimney always buys instead of the whole wheat bread that Bobby puts on the list, the pre-sliced cheddar cheese, and the butter. “After we eat, how about we video call Christopher?” It’s late in the afternoon, he’ll be home from school by now.
Buck lets out a long exhale. “Yes, please.”
Eddie flips the bread slices on the griddle and places the cheese slices on the toasted side. “Great.”
“I--” Buck starts. “I didn’t know how to ask.”
Eddie looks up from the sandwiches. “How to ask for what?”
“To talk to Christopher,” Buck draws patterns on the tabletop with his index finger. “I know I’m not--He’s not mine.”
Eddie doesn’t say anything at first, just plates up the sandwiches, brings them over to the table, and sits down next to Buck, who takes a small, tentative bite.
“I don’t think that’s true.”
“What?”
“You said Christopher isn’t yours,” Eddie picks up his sandwich, but doesn’t bite into it. “I don’t think that’s true.”
Buck is staring at him again, confused.
“Look, I don’t know what we are anymore, Buck,” Eddie admits. “Things are different between us now, and I don’t know what I’m doing, but I know that you love Christopher, and that he loves you just as much. If that doesn’t give you a right to call him, to reassure yourself that he’s okay, then I don’t know what does.”
“I…” Buck’s eyes fill with tears.
"It's okay, Buck." Eddie reaches over to wipe Buck's tears with his thumb. “Just eat your grilled cheese."
Buck does as he’s told, making it halfway through the sandwich in three bites. “You know, there’s no law that says we have to wait until we finish eating to call Christopher.”
Eddie raises a skeptical eyebrow, looking up from his own half-eaten lunch. “Will you actually finish eating if we call now?”
“Absolutely.” Buck takes a big bite to prove his point. “See?” He says, through a mouthful of food. Something so childish shouldn’t be so endearing, and yet, somehow it is.
Helpless, Eddie pulls out his phone. Carla answers on the second ring. “You better have a good reason for interrupting math homework.”
“I do.” Eddie assures her. “Can you put Chris on?”
Carla gives him a look, but does as he asks. Christopher is grinning--probably excited to have his math homework interrupted “Hi, Dad!”
“Hey, kid.” Eddie can’t help but return his son’s smile. “How’s the math homework going?”
Christopher’s smile falters slightly. “Oh, it’s good.”
Somehow Eddie doesn’t totally believe that, but it’s not important now. “Listen, I’ve got somebody here who wants to say ‘hi’, is that okay?”
The boy’s smile comes back even wider than before. “Is it Buck?”
“Yeah,” Buck says, loud enough that the phone can catch it. “It’s me.”
“Hand the phone to Buck, Dad!” Christopher is bouncing with excitement. “Hand the phone to Buck!”
He does, scooching his chair closer so he can still see the screen himself, and before Buck can even greet Christopher, the kid is launching into a monologue.
“Buck! Dr. Lassiter assigned us a big, semester-long project for science class, can you pleeeaaase help me with it? I want to build a model of the solar system, but it has to be totally accurate.”
The tension Buck's body has been holding onto since the phrase “water park” fell from Bobby’s lips is finally starting to fade.
“Absolutely. Do we want it to move?”
Christopher’s eyes widen on screen. “Yes!”
Buck laughs. “Well then, we’ve got our work cut out for us.”
Eddie smiles softly, as Buck and Christopher begin planning their project. He knows he must look like a lovesick fool, but to be fair, that’s what he is. He rests one hand over the crook of Buck’s elbow, and doesn’t miss the pink that appears across his cheeks.
“Alright, you three,” that’s Carla’s voice, “Somebody still has math homework to finish, and I’m sure you boys will have to get back to work soon.”
Eddie sighs. Carla is right, unfortunately. But Buck looks lighter than he has all day. “We better do what Carla says.”
“Will you come over after work?” Christopher asks. They won't get off until after Christopher will already be at school, so Buck will probably go to his loft after work. But Eddie doesn’t doubt now that Christopher has asked, Buck will manage to make it over to their house by the time Christopher is home from school. He wonders if it's too soon to ask Buck to sleep in his bed, instead of going to his loft at all. It's yet another line to cross, but at this point Eddie's lost track of all the lines they've crossed.
“You bet,” is Buck’s answer. “Now get back to your math!”
“Okay, dad,” Christopher says, rolling his eyes, voice dripping with sarcasm. It’s meant to be a joke at Buck’s expense, but Eddie can see the breath catching in Buck’s throat all the same, so he pulls the phone from his hand and takes over.
“Good-bye, Christopher! We love you!”
“Bye Dad! Bye Buck! I love you guys, too.”
Buck finds his voice again. “Bye Superman!”
“So,” Eddie says, putting the phone down. “Do you feel better now?”
“Eddie…” Buck hesitates, dropping his hand down so it rests over Eddie’s. His skin is warm and rough and unlike earlier Eddie can actually enjoy the feeling. “Thank you.” He’s thanking Eddie for more than just the grilled cheese and the phone call, and Eddie knows it.
His answer is simple. He turns his hand over, and interlocks their fingers. “Always, Buck.”

“It is better to hope than despair.”
-Lailah Gifty Akita,
You finally knocked. After standing in front of that door for what felt like an eternity now, you finally knocked. Your legs felt like jelly, and your heart was pounding in your chest. You were feeling more anxious than the day of your wedding, and the irony of the situation made you almost laugh. Almost, but not quite. You were about to when Lisa opened the door.
She was as radiant as ever, a big, warm smile on her face. Honestly, it surprised you. You knew that she knew. Now that Chris was back, there was no way Lisa wouldn’t know what was going on. That man told everything to his mother.
Lisa let you in, and you followed her into the living room. The house felt like a second home to you. Actually, it felt more like home than your place with Chris sometimes. There was always something happening here. When you left your house, you almost came here. But you felt like it was unfair to Chris. Lisa was his mom, and her house was his safe place, not yours.
“Chris told me everything. How are you holding up honey, are you okay?” Lisa asked you
Her kindness broke your last defence. Her genuine, motherly concern about you made you feel guilty that you didn’t come to her sooner. Lisa had always been so kind to you, taking you in as her own daughter from the moment Chris introduced you as his girlfriend. Your lips started to shiver as you were trying your best to hold the tears back.
“Oh, honey… please don’t cry.”
She took you in her arms, and you broke into tears. It may have lasted five minutes or an hour; you weren’t sure. These days you were crying so much it was just the new normal.
Your best friend had been a great support to you, but she had to. She was your best friend. Chris’s mom was supposed to be on his side, defending her son’s best interest. Not yours.
“Why didn’t you tell me things were that bad, Y/N?” Lisa asked you
You looked away. Somehow ashamed that you thought Lisa would reject you.
“I … I don’t know. Chris is your son, and…”
“And you’re my daughter. Y/N, you’re family. We all love you!” Lisa said, taking your hands into hers. “Plus, I bet some even love you more than Chris,” Lisa joked.
You laughed, feeling a little bit more at ease now. “I’m sorry…” you whispered.
“Don’t be. I am sorry we didn’t see anything,” Lisa said
You shook your head. It wasn’t their fault. They weren’t responsible, Chris and you were. It was your marriage, after all.
Lisa asked for your version of the story, and you could tell she was trying to be as partial as possible. You hated that you had to put her in that situation. She cringed when you told her Chris didn’t notice you were gone until he went to Carly’s place.
“That boy…” she said, shaking her head. “I’m so sorry, honey,” she said, a sad expression on her face.
“It’s not your fault Lisa. Actually, it’s not even Chris’s fault. I can’t force him to stay married to me,” You said
“You think he feels… forced to be with you?”
You shrugged. “I mean… why else would he be as far away from me as he possibly could?”
Lisa watched you closely. You could tell she wanted to say something but was refraining herself.
“You two should talk. Maybe you could solve this…” Lisa said
“I don’t think us talking would do any good. We tried that yesterday; you should have seen how shi… messy it was”
Lisa tried to hide her smile when you stopped yourself from swearing. “If talking to each other doesn’t work, maybe you should try talking to someone else…” Lisa suggested
You frowned. You didn’t see how Chris and you talking to Lisa would help. Yes, Lisa was a wise woman, but as she said herself, she was your mother both. Knowing Chris, he would take it personally if his mother called his shit out about his marriage. You still remembered what happened the last time Lisa agreed with you instead of Chris. He was salty for days.
“I love you, Lisa, but I don’t think talking to you would fix this,” you gently said
Lisa laughed. “I wasn’t talking about me, honey. I meant a therapist.”
“A therapist? Like couples therapy, you want us to go to couples therapy?” you asked.
Lisa nodded. You never thought about that.
“I thought couples therapy was supposed to happen before couples decide they want a divorce.”
“Not necessarily. It could help you express your feelings in a safe place. And, you decided you wanted a divorce, honey. I don’t think Chris agrees with you.”
You frowned. If Lisa thought the warm smile would help you accept the subtle criticism easier, she was wrong. You were even worse than Chris when it came to being right.
You loved being right and hated being told that you could have done something wrong, especially in that very particular situation. You were right. You had to be right. It would kill you to realize you were wrong and left the man you loved for nothing.
“Do you think I went too far…” You said, the tears resurfacing
“Oh no,” Lisa immediately told you. “You did what was right for you, and that’s the most important. I can’t even imagine how you must have felt, alone in that big house.”
A huge weight lifted off your shoulders. Secretly you thought people didn’t understand you. You were married to Chris Evans, living what they thought should be a fairy tale.
Even though you and Chris were what people called a private couple, he would sometimes tell things about you or express his love for you when he was being interviewed. When those things happened, your friends would always send you messages, reminding you how lucky you were.
They didn’t know how far they were from the truth. Most of the time, you were alone in your bed when you were reading their messages. Alone and lonely.
People think they know things about your life, your marriage, but they don’t. They would have to walk in your shoes, feel what you daily felt to actually understand.
When you left Lisa’s house, she had convinced you. She made you realize that even though things between You and Chris were pretty bad, your relationship was worth saving, or at least you owed it to Chis and yourself to try. Even if therapy didn’t work, you still owed it to yourself and Chris to end things the most peacefully possible. Before being your husband, he was your friend. You needed at least that friendship to be saved.
Instead of going back to your best friend’s place, you went home. It wasn’t even a conscious decision. You started driving and found yourself taking the way home. Instead of turning back, you continued. You realized waiting wouldn’t help. You’d waited so much already, now was the time to act.
As you opened your front door, you felt submerged with that particular sent. You were home. Despite what you told Chris yesterday, this house was your home. You chose almost every piece of furniture.
Chris was more than happy to leave it to you; he didn’t understand why you needed so many pillows on the bed or a particular shade of beige for the dining chairs. Instead of explaining everything, you would just ask for his opinion when it was absolutely necessary. Plus, it was hard to decorate a house via FaceTime.
Thinking of it now, decorating this house helped you manage your loneliness for some time. You were proud of every single room, from your bedroom to the laundry room.
You found Chris and Dodger sleeping on the sofa. You weren’t surprised. The couch was probably Chris’ favorite spot in the whole house. You had your office, and he had this sofa.
You were tempted to lay next to them. They felt like home. But you didn’t want to wake Chris up. If there was one thing Chris was lacking, it was sleep. You also noticed the dark circles under his eyes yesterday, and the current situation was not helping his sleep deprivation.
When you noticed a few takeout boxes in the room, you knew exactly how to occupy yourself. Chris used to love your cooking. Your skills were definitely better than his, but as your husband liked to say, one cannot be good at everything. You smiled when you remembered how you would tease him about his horrible cooking skills, and he would remind you how messy you were.
Even now, after thirty minutes of cooking, the countertop looked more like a war zone than a kitchen island.
“It smells good.”
You jumped. You didn’t see Chris coming, and now you had tomato sauce all over your blouse.
“Chris! You scared me!” you said, looking at him.
He was leaning against the opposite wall, observing you. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
You looked at him with more attention. He looked less tired. You wanted to say something, but Dodger was all over you before you could open your mouth.
“Hey, baby. I missed you so much,” you said to your dog.
Dodger started to bark. The high pitch he usually reserved to Chris when he was coming back home after long periods of absence.
It broke your heart.
“He missed you,” Chris finally said
You didn’t know what to reply. You didn’t want to say something that would create a hostile environment for the rest of the evening.
“I need to change myself,” you said, showing your now stained blouse.
You were gone before Chris could even blink. Once in your bedroom, you found everything exactly as you left it. You rolled your eyes, mentally asking yourself how Chris could be so organized. And then you realized he wasn’t that organized. It wasn’t just the bedroom that was exactly as you left it. The walking closet and the bathroom were too.
Chris wasn’t sleeping in your room, and you wondered why.
When you went downstairs, you found him making the table.
“I thought I’d made myself useful,” Chris said when he saw you.
You smiled. That was the kind of evening you used to dream about. You and your husband casually sharing dinner together.
Chris was very attentive, serving you wine, asking you if you needed anything. You wished you could be so relaxed. You wished you weren’t about to drop a massive bomb on him.
“Why aren’t you sleeping in our bedroom?”
Your question surprised you both.
“I… I don’t know. It doesn’t seem… right.”
You looked at each other, your eyes saying more than a thousand words. Again, you were reminded how easy it would be to just give in, to just come back. But it would be a temporary relief, one you would only enjoy until he’d decide to leave again.
It took you the whole dinner, and filling the dishwasher, and watching the first part of a show to gather enough courage and tell Chris you two needed to see a therapist.
It happened before he was about to kiss you. You could feel it in his eyes, the way they became darker, and the way his body leaned closer to yours. You could feel your heart beating faster and the room suddenly feeling hotter than before.
You wanted to give in, you missed his touch, you missed his kisses. You missed sex with your husband. But you knew it would make things more difficult. Sex had never been a problem in your relationship. Actually, it made you forget about the problems. You couldn’t remember how many times you were on the verge of telling Chris you weren’t happy with the situation and totally forgot about it the minute his hands were on you.
“No,” you said, standing up.
You started walking around the room, trying to compose yourself. It was frustrating how all your perfect, well-prepared plans got ruined the second you were around Chris.
“Y/N,” Chris whispered.
“No, we are not having sex!” you half screamed.
You needed to convince not only Chris but yourself that you were not having sex tonight. But looking at him, looking at him, looking at you made things very hard, literally and figuratively speaking.
“We’re going to therapy, you quickly said
Chris blinked. “I’m sorry, what?”
You cleared your throat. “I said, we are going to therapy.”
You could tell he was surprised. You didn’t know if it was good or bad.
“Y/N… I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
It was your turn to be surprised. You opened your mouth but closed it immediately after. You wanted Chris to explain himself before jumping to conclusions.
“With how public we are and…”
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” you said, anger quickly possessing your whole body.
“Y/N…”
“You’re worried about your reputation? Do you even want us to be together, Chris?” you asked him.
“I’m not worried about my reputation. I’m worried about… our privacy.”
“Chris, therapists have a duty of confidentiality,” You said, raising your voice.
“Well, you won’t believe how many people would break it given the right sum,” he screamed back.
You wanted to scream, anything that would release the frustration you were feeling inside.
“Do you even want to fix this?” you ask, as calmly as you were able to
Chris huffed. “I was begging you to come home with me yesterday. Of course, I want to fix this.”
You crossed your arms. “me coming home right now would not fix things; it would bring us back to this,” you said, throwing your hands up.
“And this is so bad, right?” Chris asked, bitterness in his voice.
“No, this is perfect. This is what I want permanently. It will kill me to come back to this if this is not forever.”
The room went silent. So many emotions went through Chris’s eyes, and you were trying to decode them all.
Chris finally drew a long breath. “I am not going to couples therapy.”
His words stung more than you could have imagined. They also unleashed the silent anger that was rising inside of you since the beginning of that conversation.
But instead of screaming and crying and pleading with Chris, you reached for your handbag. You were done trying to negotiate with him. You were done trying to spare his feelings.
You removed the divorce papers that had been sitting in your bag for days now. You threw them on the coffee table near Chris and waited for him to look at them.
You could see him become very pale, and if you weren’t that angry, you would be worried.
“Are they…” He started
“Yes. Divorce papers. We go to therapy, or you sign them. It’s your choice.”
Chris was startled. “You can’t be serious.”
“Oh, I’m more than serious. I have a pen if you want to sign now.”
You looked serene, but inside, your heart was dropping lower with every second Chris wasn’t doing anything. You knew you were forcing his hand, but he left you no other choice.
“So, what is it going to be, Chris?”
Chris took the divorce agreement into his hands, and you held your breath. Your heart started beating again when he tore them in half.
He gave you a deadly stare, but at this point, you didn’t care anymore. He could be angry, scream at you, even hate you, as long as it meant you were doing something to try to fix things, you could take it all.
“Text me when you find a therapist you can trust,” you said before taking your bag to leave.
If he thought you’d be the only one sweating for this, he couldn’t be more wrong. It takes two to tango. It was about damn time for Chris to act. Because you were sure that this time feeling sorry or even good sex wouldn’t fix things.

Sunshine on Leith
Chris Evans x Unnamed Female Singer/Songwriter
Words 1605
Warnings - None.
YN is a singer and has been in a series of high profile bad relationships. After taking some time out to take stock of her career she organises a one-off concert in her home-town of Nottingham.
The Royal Concert hall was somewhere I’d always loved to play, but hadn’t had the opportunity until now, some time at home to just relax, take stock of my life and career and finally write that new album. Using this opportunity to debut some of her new music to my loyal fans who’d stuck with her for the last few years.
The venue was packed, having sold out in a few hours and I was waiting nervously back stage for the gig to start. There was no warm up act, no glitz and glamour or massive stage setups and lighting this time, just a small stage setup with instruments for the band and the backing singers, something I’d been wanting to do for a long time, but hadn’t had the chance to do so until now.
The first half of the concert went really well, starting off with a few old favourites, including the hits that made her a star, before debuting her next single. Before she knew it the first half was over and she settled into her dressing room before a quick outfit change for the 2nd half of the show.
My bassist, John, turned to me with a smile, “That was really great Y/N, they loved the new stuff and you’ve not lost anything.”
“Thanks John, that was much less nerve-wracking than I thought it would be! They really loved that new track – think we’ll release that one next?”
Roger the drummer agreed “Yeah, think with a bit of work it’ll be a real hit, we need to book some studio time to polish it up and maybe work on those couple of others we’ve got.”
Before too long the band took their places for the second half of the show.
“Welcome back to the show, it’s been really great having you all here to join me. I’ve loved being back on stage here in Nottingham. I hope you’ll enjoy the 2nd half of my show as I’m gonna do something a bit different. As you know, the last couple of years for me has been a bit of a disaster personally” I pause as the crowd laugh, Nick my keyboard player taking the opportunity to tease me again “You don’t say!”
Taking the stool from the side of the stage, placing it on the marked spot and putting my mic on the stand, I continue “Thanks for that Nick! Now, I hope you’ll bare with me while I get a little self indulgent for the next part of the show. Joking aside, the last 3 or 4 years have been really quite hard on me personally, and it has been a real struggle for me to get back to a point where I am happy to be me, and taking the time to get to love me as a person, and realising I don’t have to have a boyfriend or someone in my life if I don’t want to. I will admit to listening to far too many power ballads but these are a couple that have really meant something to me. Enjoy”
Tumblr media
The songs were well received, and I take a moment to savour the applause from the crowd.
“Thank you for that – I really do appreciate your support. Now I want to indulge you again for a minute. As you may be aware there’s rumours about myself and a certain movie star. I want to say for now that those rumours are completely true. Chris & I met in Los Angeles a few years ago and hit it off immediately. I was in no way ready to jump into a relationship, especially not with someone as famous as him. But I came to value him as a friend, and he’s someone I have grown to care deeply about. I think this one song shows exactly how I feel about him.”
My heart was broken My heart was broken Sorrow, sorrow Sorrow, sorrow
My heart was broken My heart was broken You saw it, you claimed it You touched it, you saved it
My tears are drying My tears are drying Thank you, thank you Thank you, thank you
My tears are drying My tears are drying Your beauty and kindness Made tears clear my blindness
While I'm worth My room on this Earth I will be with you While the Chief Puts sunshine on LeithI
'll thank Him For His work And your birth And my birth Yeah, yeah, yeah
My heart was broken My heart was broken Sorrow, sorrow Sorrow, sorrow
My heart was broken My heart was broken You saw it, you claimed it You touched it, you saved it
While I'm worth My room on this Earth I will be with you While the Chief Puts sunshine on Leith
I'll thank Him For His work And your birth And my birth Yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Wiping away a tear as the crowd came to their feet “Time to make things a little happier I think” I launched into my last couple of songs before leaving the stage to a standing ovation. “Thank you Nottingham, I hope I’ll see you all again soon.”
Heading to my dressing room, tired and happy I saw a huge bunch of flowers on my dressing table, and before I could take stop of what was happening, I saw 6 foot of muscle scoop me off my feet and give me a long, loving kiss. Breaking it off for air, I was finally able to figure out what was happening. “Chris, what? What are you doing here? How long have you been here? I had no idea!”
“It was mom & Scott that persuaded me to come, I made it just as your show started, you were amazing baby, I love your new stuff, I’ve not really heard it before. And that one, what was it called?”
“Sunshine on Leith?”
“Yes, that’s the one. Do you really think that of me?”
“Yes I do Chris, but before I go any further I really need a shower! Give me 10 and we’ll go out to dinner and talk more, Do you have a hotel?”
“Yes I do, it’s just for tonight though, hurry up, I’m starving and i know your showers never take 10 minutes..!”
“Yeah I know, but that’s usually because I get distracted....!”
Later that evening we were curled up in our hotel room, having eaten far too much. “So, why did you come Chris? I mean, aren’t you supposed to be working?”
Tumblr media
“Yes I am, but I got an opportunity to go to London, and I couldn’t turn it down, it looks like it might be a great role for me. I didn’t think I would be able to come but managed to get a car organised to bring me up here. I couldn’t miss this show for the world!”
Kissing him gently, I replied “Thank you, I really do appreciate you coming this way. What’s next Chris? Back to London?”
“Nope, back home for a few days before heading out to Atlanta, Wanna come with me? I know that Dodger misses you so much. Not to mention that I might miss you too!”
“Let me think about that one for a minute, I mean, I suppose I could come to Atlanta, we can’t have Dodger being lonely now can we?!”

Ciara, I just want you to know how much I LOVE today's rewatch commentary even though it makes me emotional AF!
And YES to the train derailment situation... IT IS THE CLOSEST Eddie has come to losing his cool at a scene jsksjd... Eddie in this episode is so interesting!!! Cause that would've been around the time he made Buck the legal guardian of Chris in case something happened to him and then Buck goes and risks his life like THAT (like he is the expendable one, always the expendable one 😭) and like... I wonder how close he was to say something to Buck about that (don't you know how much you mean to chris, to me? How important you are? You can't do this, not when I'm right in the middle of making you my son's guardian aka handing you my heart on a platter? How can you not see the value your own life has when I see it as a treasure?), but also how he just couldn't... not yet... because in the heat of the moment that confession would have been loud in its very own way (as was sitting on the whole thing for a whole damn year)... and it all ends well, obviously, but... damn Eddie was brimming with emotions jasjjdjd (sorry this is not very coherent, but my emotions!!!!)
(@like-the-rest-of-la)
haha thank you!! i hadn't actually planned on rewatching any 911 today but evidently my brain had other ideas when it came to deciding what to watch while eating my lunch aksjdh
but rIGHT???? it's funny because when i first started watching 911 (bearing in mind the back half of s4 hadn't happened yet) there were very few scenes between just buck and eddie (without christopher) that i viewed as having any kind of subtext. but eddie's reactions throughout 3x18 always stuck out to me.
because he's so...frustrated?? and you can just Tell he's biting back whatever he really wants to say. the fact that he snaps at all during that conversation with buck and bobby is honestly a testament to just how riled up he is. and it's like you said, knowing the context of the will now just adds a whole other layer to it.
in fact everything that comes after adds a whole other layer. because there's so much emphasis in s5 on the fact that eddie doesn't panic (hence why everything in s5 is so out of character for him and why he's struggling). he's been in warzones. he knows how to keep calm and collected no matter what's thrown at him. in general, he knows how to 'put it away and save the next one'
but in that scene. we see him lose his cool and it's because of buck. it's not about himself or anyone else. he's frustrated because buck is willing to throw his life away for abby. he's frustrated because buck doesn't regard himself as important and that's why he's willing to take the risk. he's frustrated (as we know now) because he's chosen buck for the most important role he can possibly think of and buck is out here acting like he's not worth anything when he's worth everything to eddie.
and, from a practical level, the writers probably hadn't planned for the will yet at this point but it's so poignant when you add that context. i agree that he wouldn't have been ready to say it then. it's funny i was only thinking today about the will reveal scene and buck asking why eddie chooses to tell him then. it makes sense he tells buck in 4x14 because he wants him to understand that he matters and that he's needed. what that doesn't clarify is why eddie chose to keep it for him for over a year beforehand (when realistically buck could've done with it hearing in 3x16 after red or 4x04 after everything with his parents or indeed in 3x18 after abby). but ultimately the will is too Revealing of how important buck is to him and eddie was Not ready for buck to know that. not back then
and none of this even tOUCHES on eddie's thoughts on abby and his opinion of her given they've never actually met. obviously the team have told him stories (even as early as 2x01) and he knows how buck struggled in the aftermath of losing her but i'd kill to know just how much he knows and if his face when he realises who she is in 3x18 really is saying "it's you. you're the one who broke his heart." and if that's enough for him to immediately resent her
just aslkdfjsa i'll never get over this episode. i'll be unhinged about it forever actually

So I saw somewhere a post that talked about how some fictional characters just have a divorce vibe going on, like, at no point in time were they ever married but they just give off that feeling that they got divorced
And now I can only think of Clark Kent and Lex Luthor having that vibe
And I spent close to an hour talking about this to my sibling and how it would be a good idea for a new DC show like, you can make so much money off of just the main Batfam alone and there are literally so many people in there that it’s just an amazing idea to have them all in a show together but kind of like a Good Luck Charlie kinda thing because there’s more than enough angst in the world
But in the case of not having enough of a budget for so many characters in one show I turned to the Superfam (Batfam is Huge like, I don’t even know half of the extended family version and that’s like at least ten characters so I could see why it wouldn’t be entirely feasible to have a show that included everyone while still being good with nice character development without having a billion dollars for the budget)
The Superfam, in my personal experience, is composed of Ma & Pa Kent (farm vibes plus I refuse to have either of them die in my AU), Clark Kent (main Superman), Lois Lane (Lana? was Smallville Lois i guess??? But idk enough about her so she’s not here), Jon Kent (Superboi II), Kara Danvers (Supergirl) & Conner Kent (Superboi I)
Now I’ve stopped watching CW shows like, forever ago??? But my brother kinda keeps up with them and basically the gist is that the ratings of every other show suck Except for the Superman & Lois show (because it’s 💫new💫) and I saw the cover of the poster like “Ah, the werewolf dude. . . mmmhhmmm that’s Lois yes, yes that’s Johnny boi, and um is that???? Nooooo, they wouldn’t do that to Conner right???? Please tell me they didn’t make Conner blonde” and I was informed that the blonde teen is Chris???? Like
Whoms’t do ye speak of
I’m not even joking but the only way I even know of Chris is from a random fanfic I read where Dick Grayson gets his own super from an alternate reality named Chris, that’s my only point of reference for this character
But let’s talk about how Conner Kent (OG Superboi) was excluded
Now I haven’t seen any episodes of this and I probably never will (no hate I’m just really unmotivated to start new shows at all) so idk if they might mention Conner or even allude to him in one scene or something
But this was my main motivator as to my new Superfam TV Show Idea
Have Lex Luthor not be a Superman villain, he’s mainly a successful businessman, a little shady but who isn’t, and he doesn’t want to Kill Superman, he just wants to be able to have some sort of viable protection against a Kryptonian in case of an invasion (see Man of Steel + CW’s Supergirl) or suddenly having a mind controlled Superman on their hands (see Justice League series or just look up what Red Krytonite does) so he makes it like his side thing to figure out ways to neutralize or hold back a Kryptonian, Clark totally thinks that Lex is obsessed with finding a way to kill Superman because they had a bad end to their friendship in high school so he’s always suspicious of Lex, Lex hasn’t really ever tried to kill him though because 1. It’s not that deep Clark ok? And 2. He’s a busy busy man with a very important job position and a company to run so does he look like he has time to harbor an obsession over someone who rejected him back in high school??? You’re more of a constant side quest Clark, so stop trying to put him on the JL watchlist ( btw ik about Lena Luthor, haven’t forgotten her but she doesn’t really play a part in this AU so let’s just have her and Kara off to the side doing their own thing ok? Ok)
Lex, Bruce & Oliver all knew each other when they were kids and went to the same school, this is just an extra detail I wanted to happen because Lex and Ollie definitely know Bruce is Batman and absolutely HATE having to deal with Brucie Wayne because “I know you’re just doing this to irritate me Bruce, you just want to see if you can make a vein throb in my forehead but I will valiantly ignore your dumbassery because I know you hate being Brucie just as much as we hate having to put up with Brucie so suck on that you petty bitch” because they bonded in ye olden days, childhood friends so to speak
Anyway so Cadmus tries to get Lex to make an investment in their company, seeing as Cadmus is shadier than Gotham when it rains Lex is basically like ‘no ❤️’ and doesn’t make a deal with them, Cadmus gets mad at not having Lexcorp financially backing them so Lex has an ‘accident’ and they steal his DNA, then they steal Superman’s DNA somehow and *boom* a Superboi is formed
Because I don’t know much about how the Core Four became friends in the first place (Robin Tim Drake, Impulse Bart Allen, Wonder Girl Cassie Sandsmark & Superboy Conner Kent) I’m just gonna go with what happens in the show Young Justice except it’s the Core Four becoming the Core Four when they liberated Conner (who at this point believes himself to be a clone of Superman and has only been given Superboy as a name) from Cadmus, same shit goes down meaning that Clark is just straight up NOT vibing with Conner, Conner just wants a mentor please, and the Bats kinda give Clark a passive aggressive treatment for not taking Superboy under his wing or at least agreeing to teach him how to control his powers, especially Tim because that’s his Bestie so yes
Anyway, YJ saves ppl and is on the news or whatever and Lex finds out about Superboy’s existence that way, so he researches this new super on his free time, finds out that he came from Cadmus and claims to be a clone of Superman, yet doesn’t have the whole power set Superman has??? Wait, didn’t Lex reject Cadmus’ proposal and the got into a mysterious accident??? Long story short Lex goes connecting the dots, hacks into Cadmus’ files, finds out he technically has a son with Superman and decides to take Superboy under his wing (I’ll go more in depth as to why Lex would want to do this in this AU later but the abridged version would be that he wants a kid but doesn’t have the time nor interest in finding a wife??? Also the radiation that made him bald as a kid also affected his reproductive system so while it’s not impossible for him to conceive kids he would have a very hard time actually getting to father a kid)
Him and Conner, who still goes by Superboy at this point in time, meet up and Conner finds out that here is a parent figure that is both available and actively wants to be a part of his life, so he agrees to get to know Lex and the series would focus on them becoming a family, with a special episode when Conner asks Lex for help in choosing a name for himself and it ends up with him agreeing to become Conner Luthor, it would be heartwarming and Mercy would make sure it happens within a day (Mercy is Lex’s bodyguard/PA but they’re also besties and she becomes the Responsible yet Chaotic Aunt as Lex and Conner’s father-son relationship progresses)
Obviously Clark becomes super suspicious of Lex getting close to his ‘clone’ and when Conner decides to go public as Lex’s son he’s like *GASP* and calls up Bruce because we need to get on this Bruce, Lex is a villain and blah blah blah but Bruce would be over Clark’s shit and hit him with that “actually, Lex was also an unwilling genetic donor to Superboy, who actually is not your clone either, and has agreed to take him in, I’ve been on this shit since they first met and the kid is doing just fine so if you keep poking your nose in their business then that’s your problem but you better be ready to pay child support bitch . . . have a good day ❤️”
The series would just focus on Conner getting to have a good parent figure in Lex and go more into their civilian lives rather than focusing on the superhero thing, Conner, Bart, Tim & Cassie have a sleepover at Lex’s house at one point, Lex totally Knows what’s up but it’s all good because these are his baby’s friends and they’re good people who are more than willing to prank Superman for rejecting his kid and giving his baby self worth issues (Mercy supports them)
Anyway, that’s basically the idea for a new Superhero Show

Can someone write me a Buddie with Christopher fic continuation of them having a family night while playing Scrabble? With fluff. I believe that would be an adorable fic.
So sorry this took forever!! I’m still dealing with SO MUCH at work, but I finally had a spare moment to grind this out! Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! Mua!
Have You Ever Heard of Scrabble?
"...And the X in the center is worth eight points. Add the triple word score and that's..." Buck pauses, finger tracing over the world XYLOPHONE, intersecting with Eddie's PUPPY. "Seventy-two!" he sits back, a smug smile on his face and takes a drink of water.
Next to him, Christopher chuckles into a cup of juice. "He's destroying you, Dad."
Eddie sighs, surveying the board. He has a few words here and there, smaller ones mostly. He could do better than this, but he hates Scrabble, has no patience for it. The only reason he agreed to play is the knowledge that he's solely responsible for taking out his two favorite boys' other form of entertainment for the night. "Yeah, well, with Buck's trivia knowledge, we all pretty much knew where this was going before we even started." He sighs again, sorting listlessly through his available letters, before giving up and standing, heading for the kitchen. "Ugh, I don't have enough caffeine for this."
"Well you know, I think I remember seeing an ad somewhere for--"
"Stow it, Buckley!"
Buck and Chris don't even bother hiding their amusement this time, their snorts of laughter following him into the kitchen.
"I'm going to go make myself a normal coffee, with a normal coffee maker. You want?" Eddie calls to the unworthy man in the living room.
"Nah, but thanks." Buck calls back. "Coffee too soon before bed keeps me awake all night."
Eddie shrugs and starts sorting out a cup of coffee. The machine sputters slightly, hiccuping water as it starts to warm and Eddie carefully steps back. The machine had been acting up lately, taking much longer to warm and overboiling, or sometimes even burning his coffee. A few days already he's had to go to work without his morning caffeine fix.
No way I'm telling Buck that though. He'll never let me hear the end of it.
***
Meanwhile in the living room, Buck and Chris are going through Eddie's available Scrabble letters, shaking their heads. The poor man managed to pick up two Q's and has no vowels left.
"Aw man, now I feel kinda bad." Buck sends a glance toward the kitchen where Eddie is wrestling with the coffee maker, trying to coax out a cup of Joe. Buck knows that the coffee maker has been on the fritz lately and wants to do something about it, but knowing Eddie? He'd never allow it, would insist on paying Buck back. And Buck wouldn't allow that. They were at a stalemate.
"Ooh! Stalemate!" Christopher gasps, and Buck startles, looking at him. How much of that did I say out loud?
"You heard that, Buddy?"
Chris shakes his head, reaching for his own letters and laying them out on the board. "Just the end of whatever you were thinking, you were kinda mumbling." STALEMATE now cuts through the E of XYLOPHONE and Chris sits back, proudly. "Fifteen points!"
Buck chuckles. "Oh, is that where all the vowels went, kid?"
Chris just raises his eyebrows and pushes up his glasses. From the kitchen they hear a sputter followed by a curse and Buck stands quickly.
"Eddie? You okay??"
"Yeah!" Comes Eddie's slightly panicked voice from the kitchen. "Yeah, just fine I er... stubbed my toe."
Uh huh. Sure. Buck sits back down reluctantly, sighing. He looks down at the board without really seeing it. What can I do that would--
Christopher pokes him hard in the side.
"Hey--"
"Shhh!!" Christopher leans in. "Buck, I have an idea, but Dad can't know about it yet."
"What's that, buddy?"
"I want to get Dad a new coffee maker, Buck. He works so hard, he needs coffee and this one just isn't good enough."
"That's an awesome idea, kid! I'm sure your dad would love that. but uh..."
Chris just shakes his head. "I have some savings left from my birthday! And, and some coffee makers are pretty cheap, right? Can I order it on your credit card so I could surprise him and then I'll pay you back?"
Buck could just squeeze Chris in the tightest hug for how thoughtful he is. Eddie is doing a good job by him, and Buck... he knows Chris isn't his, but he can't help but feel so proud of him.
Of them both.
But Buck also knows that Eddie isn't rich. Whatever Chris has saved up will likely only be enough for the lowest tier coffee maker that wouldn't work well and would wear out in no time.
"Sure, buddy! But only if you let me go halfsies on it, kay? I was thinking of getting your dad a new coffee maker too."
"Yeah okay!"
Now if Buck could just figure out how to make Eddie accept it!
Read the news, coffee maker! Check the weather, coffee maker! ... I only told you--and Hildy.
Hildy! That's it!
Buck can't hold back a gasp of laughter and Chris looks at him, eyes wide with curiosity.
"What, Buck?"
"Uh, Chris?" Buck chances a glance toward the kitchen, where another curse floats their way. Buck pulls out his phone and quickly pulls up a browser, searching for high-end coffee makers that could make Eddie's simple morning cup of Joe and also brew him a latte on the weekends, like the kind he pays way too much for at the corner coffee shop. He scrolls through until he finds one with the right specs and most importantly, the finishing touch: Powered by Hildy.
"Okay, buddy, here's what we're gonna do..."
Chris, looking over his shoulder, nods happily and stuffs his hands in his mouth to stifle his laughter.
It's perfect.
