I would love to hear your songs for number 9, 10 and 19 :)
Then let's see what songs come to mind :)
9: A song that makes you happy
To The Bone by Chris Leamy
youtube
The rhythm is perfect for my walks and it always brights my mood. One of the songs that give me energy.
10: A song that makes you sad
Pierrot (ピエロ) by KEI
It tells the story of a clown that acts like everything is alright and a kid that sees right through the lies. With this video, it can be interpreted as the inner child of the clown that speaks to the adult one, telling that everything will be fine. Personaly, if I pay close attention to the lyrics it always makes me cry.
(there are a couple Vocaloid songs that make me feel this way too, but I chose this one because the others may need some trigger warnins)
I don't know Japanese, so here's a video with English subtitles:
youtube
19:A song that makes you think about life
This one was the hardest! Songs usually make me think about myself, about relationships, and about society, but not about life on itself. So I'm not entirely sure if this can even apply.
Hotel Walls by Smith & Thell
I'm not religious, but I see the appeal of having to answer to someone when everything ends. So for me it's more like making your life count for when the time comes and you have to answer to your own self, to look back and ponder whether it was a life good enough lived.
Don't know if it makes sense... This is something I don't think about often.
youtube
#music asks#thanks for your interest <3#i wonder how many songs from my playlist fall under those themes... too many songs to know xD

GODFLESH meets Robert Williams of Siege
Siege was a great inspiration for Scum era Napalm Death, and it's come all full cycle ☺
"Last night I reached the summit, for me, as a music fan; seeing GODFLESH up close, getting to let Justin K Broadrick know how their music has inspired me to continue writing and recording with bravery and barbarity, and seeing one of our Weymouth Rock crew (Chris Leamy aka dj Xen Chron) open for the futuristic styings of JK Flesh on the decks. I was able to give them a SIEGE test press of the forthcoming Armageddon Label reissue, and they talked about the early days of 'tape trading' proto-grindcore. I can stop going to shows now; there's nowhere to go from here but meeting Halford. Last night was a mindblowing and deafening honor, and to the uninitiated - even their recent work (Purge) is vitally inspired listening." - R

Fistula To Headline Day II of Doomed & Stoned Fest!
It's been a tough year for festivals, particularly when it comes to international bands playing in the United States. The news first broke with Austin's SXSW last year and the ripple effect has continued to impact festivals large and small ever since, most notably Psycho Las Vegas, which lost both Montreal's Dopethrone and Örebro's Witchcraft from the line-up due at least in part to visa and travel issues. Doomed & Stoned Festival has taken a hit, too, with the loss of Vokonis and Bang from the line-up.
Festival organizer Melissa Marie has done an admirable job of finding new headliners at the 11th hour for the October 5th and 6th event and we can't wait to share who we've got lined up for you! The new headliners for both days of Doomed & Stoned Festival will be announced on Thursday and Friday of this week. We think you'll be more than pleased with the result.
Twenty Years of Rustbelt Doom
We are delighted to announce our new DAY II headliner, the mighty FISTULA! We've been wanting to do something with the legendary Ohio band for quite some time and now the stars have happily aligned, just a matter of days before Akron doomers hops a plane to Europe to tear shit up with Grime.
Fistula was forged in 1998 by musical partners-in-crime Corey Bing and Bahb Branca. Over the years, Fistula has released a seemingly endless barrage of studio albums and split EPs through numerous lineup changes featuring the creative talents of bands such as Sloth, Hemdale, The Disease Concept, Accept Death, and so many others. Fistula is a band that is impossible to categorize, combining elements of remedial sludge, hardcore and a proverbial “bad case of the Mondays.” Nearing two decades of ear bleeding, Fistula A remains the miserable kings of sludgecore.
The Shape Of Doom To Cumm))) by Fistula
Fistula be joining an incredible cast of doom, sludge, and stoner bands on Day II, including ultra heavy Hollow Leg, Cardinals Folly from Finland (in their first US appearance), songwriting legends Cruthu, the raging Wolftooth, and a great big bundle of energy in Great Electric Quest, Youngblood Supercult, High Reeper, Bonehawk, The Judge, and Moonbow. Mind you, that's just the second day of the festival! Don’t miss our big Day I announcement tomorrow.
Tickets for Doomed & Stoned Festival are still available, but going fast. Make plans to join us October 5th and 6th in Indianapolis at Indiana City Beer. We can't wait to meet up with Doomed & Stoned readers and enjoy the music of the heavy underground together with you! Seal the deal.
New Fistula Track Premieres
We've got more than just an announcement for you, today, though -- we're also bringing you a brand new track by Fistula so you can get a taste of what you're in for! The song is called “Dishonor Roll” from Fistula's upcoming 12” entitled At War With Pretension, due out in early 2019 on PATAC Records.
At War With Pretension features four new Fistula tracks and two demo tracks from "a side project/experiment that will be a surprise," the band tells us. The artwork was done by Chris Leamy and will be the final recording featuring drummer Jeff Sullivan. Fistula's performance at Doomed & Stoned Festival in October will introduce the band's new drummer, Kenny Easterly.
"Dishonor Roll" will give you a taste for how savage and cathartic Fistula's live show can be! Give ear...
"Dishonor Roll" Lyrics
Pray to god AK, worship everyday, bumpstock assholes. Skull and shrapnel, teenage tantrums. Targets on their chests, hallways reek of death, backwoods Rambo. Emo bitch punk, stole his dad’s gun. Tray to god AK, worship everyday, skull and shrapnel.
Now you’ll see me, on your TV. I’ve got to kill more… and get the highest score.
This world owes me, so I’ll show no mercy. Your thoughts and prayers, won’t mop their brains. Ultimate goal… death by tactical pig. You’ll work in shifts, bagging up dead classmates.
Vacant stare, no one’s there. No demands, this is my final stand. Bloodstained school days, fake news they’ll say.
Get More Fistula

Monday, April 24: Masters of Reality, “Moriah”
Chris Goss was better known as the producer behind Kyuss’ best albums by the time Welcome to the Western Lodge was released in 1999, but that didn’t stop his latest iteration of Masters of Reality (essentially just him and John Leamy) from smoking what they got and playing the stoner rock card to the hilt. “Moriah” would’ve likely benefited from ex-drummer(!) Ginger Baker’s rolling toms, but the tune was nonetheless a rollicking tumbler that lasted all of three and a half minutes yet still took its sweet time. Goss’ vocals could be charitably described as “relaxed”, but his mumbling fit the laidback careening of the tune perfectly. Goss has seemingly been content to just do his thing with Masters of Reality over the last 20 years, but then again, he certainly has the pedigree to run with this sound any way he pleases.

Jeremy Alumbaugh, St Louis FC GM (USL PRO)
This morning a press release from Saint Louis FC (STLFC) and a news article in Chattanooga announced that Jeremy Alumbaugh, VP and General Manager for STLFC was leaving to join Chattanooga FC, a supporters-owned club in Tennessee. His title is Managing Director. While responsibilities aren’t defined in the Club’s announcement of the hire, a story on the search from September in the Chattanooga Times Free Press outlined these priorities
Facility development is important to CFC, whose foundation submitted a bid to the city last week to build multi-sport facilities on the land in front of Sculpture Fields. Engaging its supporter-owners is also key, according to Grizzle, along with the team winning a professional championship to provide buzz for the city and the club’s first league title.
The Supporter-Owners note is an important part of this. More than 3,200 investors raised $872,750 for the club earlier this year, including a number of Louligan’s as the club, in operation since 2009, faced a difficult situation after the organization’s former general manager, Sean McDaniel, left the club and eventually joined rival club the Chattanooga Red Wolves Soccer Club in July 2018. It’s led to an understandably acrimonious relationship as the Times Free Press documented in January.
Chattanooga FC has since announced it would make the leap to professional soccer in 2020 and join the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA). NISA is level three of professional soccer, which is the same tier as the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC team that plays in USL League One. The team also began the Chattanooga FC Academy in 2012, uniting select soccer clubs in Chattanooga and added the Chattanooga FC Women in 2013, competing in the WPSL (like Fire & Ice and St. Louis Lions locally). It appears Jeremy will be focused on the NISA squad as the Search Story noted a soccer professional wasn’t necessarily needed although Jeremy’s experience with Springfield SC, Chicago Magic and Metro United/SLSG Illinois as well as the Chicago Fire PDL are all part of what he brings to the community development Chattanooga FC are looking for.
“We need someone who understands entertainment, attractions and sports. We don’t think it necessarily has to be a soccer person. Someone who understands how the professional landscape of sports works can really take this club up another notch.”
So that provides some background on what is ahead for Jeremy. How does MLS4theLou tie into this topic? I’ve known Jeremy since 2002 when I moved to Springfield where he was coaching my nephews at Springfield FC (now Sporting Springfield). He moved to the Chicago Magic soon after, working for Mike Matkovich where he worked with USMNT Goalkeeper Brad Guzan, who was a defender at the time, as well as Ned Grabavoy and Chris Schuler who went on to strong careers in Major League Soccer. He returned to Springfield SC where he captured two Missouri State Cup titles with the 90-91 age group in 2007 and 2008, the first titles won in Missouri by a non-Metro (STL and KC) Club. The first win, as U16’s, came against a Scott McDoniel coached St Louis SC squad.
He joined Dale Schilly at Metro United in 2009, shortly before the merger, becoming the SLSG Illinois Director of Coaching and U18 Academy Head Coach. Prior to his Club experience, he worked as an assistant at both Missouri State in the late 90’s where he worked with Matt Pickens, and he assisted Kevin Kalish at SIUE for two years on his arrival here in Collinsville. Most of you know him for his role with STLFC which began with the formation of the team in 2015 as he and I discussed here.
The reason for this litany of Jeremy’s career is two-fold. One, it points to the steps he has taken to develop himself beyond the pitch, for the business side. His move to Metro United, as he indicated to me, was for the opportunity to become involved in the professional game which SLSG was actively exploring at that point already. His ambitions required the move.
That leads to the second point. As a key executive within the STLFC organization, he has chosen to not stay in St. Louis for the arrival of Major League Soccer with #MLS4TheLou. Why would someone with his experience, both inside the organization and in the larger community, make that decision?
1. He didn’t see a position within the organization despite almost a decade working for SLSG and Jim Kavanaugh 2. He didn’t see MLS4TheLou continuing a relationship with USL and SLSG where his obvious strengths lie 3. Other
Jeremy is well positioned to deliver for Chattanooga FC but he’ll join an organization that will require an almost constant focus on fund-raising to support the NISA ambitions and broader club growth. Located midway between Nashville and Atlanta, a pair of Major League Soccer teams, will offer access to promote player opportunties, maybe even sell them if USSF allows teams to move in that direction. But he won’t be a part of a $250 million plus development and growth opportunity here.
