that move in perfect night is so obviously meant to be sexy too, enhanced by the angle in which that part is shot which basically zooms into chaewon and yunjin's ass. there's the added problem of it being an overwatch collab where there is a large male adult audience. yeah you could argue that in the video eunchae is hidden by chaewon (possibly intentional?) but she's still doing the move. i just think it was so easy for the choreographers to not include it

Two Person Armed Defense

This week, I m running a Two Person Armed Defense class at Reno Guns & Range in Nevada. It has been about a year since we launched the program, which is a combination of various concepts from Team Tactics programs designed for SWAT, Military, Executive Protection or other “Armed Professional” adapted to fit the context of two family members, friends, co-workers (including police and security personnel) or others who are frequently both together and armed. As Concealed Carry has become both easier and much more common over the past two decades, this type of training has moved from Fantasy Camp status to something that just makes sense for a lot of people. 20 years ago, it was much less likely that you would have multiple people in the same place carrying guns for personal defense. If nothing else, the dramatic growth in women carrying guns for their own protection and not just relying on the men in their lives to carry the guns means that more and more couples should think about how they can coordinate their actions in an emergency to be as safe as possible, instead of simply responding as two individuals. The Three C’s of team operations form the foundation of the course: Coordination, Communication & Cooperation. The Two Person Armed Defense Class addresses practical approaches to team tactics for the everyday person. The course, offered as a one day or a two day which includes force-on-force scenarios and is not only applicable to people who are often in each others company. The skills and concepts developed in the course can be applied to situations where you might find yourself in the presence of another armed good guy as well, as the communication and cooperation aspects can be quickly applied even when people haven’t trained formally together. Most of the concepts can also be applied to increase the capabilities of any tow people, even when only one is armed with a defensive firearm. Some of the drills also overlap with concepts from Shooting in Defense of Others that you care about. This is not a Wanna-Be SWAT Course or military-esque course that teaches bounding overwatch and complicated choreographed maneuvers or “room clearing” concepts. It is a simple, practical approach to maximizing the capabilities of typical people that carry defensive firearms in an emergency situation. If you spend time with other armed people, as most in the gun community do, consider thinking about how you could work together to be safer. McGee doing the ‘Previously On’ gave me so many mixed emotions. Opening with the diner was great, as was the waitress wearing a mask. The redesigned opening were interesting, and McGee being first in the credits gave me even more mixed emotions. Vance going head-to-head with Sweeney was funny, as was McGee calling Parker as soon as Vance left. The ominous music made me sure Parker suspected Vivian, and I was scared she’d turn around and see him watching her. McGee had strong boss energy in the bullpen, and Kasie putting crime-scene tape around the pomato’s death scene was funny, as was her terrible ringtone, and Jimmy answering the phone. I absolutely loved the end-of-act plot twist with Fornell, and him, Parker, and Vivian almost felt like a scene from one of the ‘Devil’s’ episodes- also, I loved Fornell’s loyalty to Parker. I don’t know why they put in the ‘very special’ bit- that’s for Tony and McGee only. Sammy the old-lady hacker was funny, and I liked how the spotlight turned from Parker to a seemingly-random criminal- also, 2013 was not years ago(I say as I realize it was almost a decade ago). I didn’t like how Tennant fat-shamed Ernie with the dessert comment, and ‘Dr. Parker’ was just the kind of risky move that would be right at home in earlier seasons. Why Ernie would want to start a long-distance relationship with someone who lives thousands of miles away is beyond me, and then Tennant following in his footsteps was bizarre- what is with these people? Vance providing overwatch was great, and Jimmy, Kasie, and Ernie in the lab was funny. Seven agents proved to be useful for the big choreographed shootout, and Parker yelling into the phone was a very Gibbs thing to do. All in all, this was an exciting season premiere filled with twists, and a strong start to Season 20.

→ you went on a variety show and filmed the performance with them along with three other idols, but that wasn't just it. after the performance, you sat down to get interviewed about your collaboration, and surprise! they brought out some professional league of legend gamers and kenma was one of the professional gamers invited

→ "oh my god it's world famous kodzuken" you gushed as soon as he stepped onto the stage

→ "do you know him?" the host asked. "yes i watch his streams all the time. he's so good at league!" kenma's embarrassed, but he bows his head to thank you politely anyways. babie has manners after all

I love how all of the Valorant ads have little cinematics where the different characters zip around and use their abilities in a choreographed fight a la Overwatch, but my brief experience with the actual Valorant gameplay involved walking really slow so that your enemies don’t hear you, using abilities maybe twice in a round, and having a brief 2 second gunfight with each enemy where you either kill them or die immediately.

born in changwon, south korea, sookyung grew up living above the small family restaurant owned by her grandparents, in which both her mother and father also work

she has a twin brother, who is younger by ten minutes

when not a trainee she is a student, studying dance at hansung university

her love of dance started when she was six and her family was visiting seoul. they had signed her and her brother up for a childrens dance class so they could spend an hour or two alone

sookyung had had an absolute blast of a time during the dance class and begged to be signed up for lessons when they got back home, easily convincing her parents

ever since that day, the majority of sookyung’s free time was spent in a dance studio and over time and with much practice, she became a skilled dancer and choreographer

she technically specialises in hip hop, though one of her favourite styles is when popping meets contemporary, absolutely loving the contrast of smooth and sharp movements

she originally intended on becoming a choreographer, and only ended up auditioning to be an idol as a dare from a classmate (who was definitely more surprised that she both did it, was accepted, and stayed there)

sookyung is buff, almost surprisingly so. like, “can lift a grown man” strong. this is due to her often working out, which started off as a way to get fitter for dance but quickly became a hobby

she can speak a little bit of both english and mandarin. she definitely isn’t fluent or close to it in either, but she could get by if stranded somewhere they’re spoken

sookyung has a bit of an addiction to collecting lipstick, which she is almost never seen not wearing. usuallly red

she is a lesbian. technically, she hasn’t come out to anyone except her brother, but it really isn’t too hard to guess that she might not be straight considering she isn’t shy when talking about her love and respect for women

absolutely hates the cold. in winter you can count on her being snuggled up in a million blankets with a mug of hot tea. she is also a body heat snatcher. if you’re comfortable with it, she will be snuggled so close to you that it’s hard to tell where one person begins and ends

sookyung almost never sleeps in her own bed. due to insomnia, power naps are her go to and it doesn’t matter where she is or when it is. if she actually feels like she can sleep and is able to do so, she is taking that chance

basically she is a cat; can be found sleeping in either the weirdest of spots or a warm human lap

overwatch is the only videogame sookyung really plays. shes a reinhardt main forever and always, and is surprisingly good at him too

please don’t let her cook. unless it’s grilling meat, which she is an absolute pro. it’s kinda ironic that her family owns a restaurant but she’ll burn rice in a rice cooker

her internal compass is not just broken; it’s missing entirely. you can definitely expect her to be the one walking the wrong way off stage at music and award shows if she does ever debut

sookyung is loud, literally and figuratively. she likes entertaining people, whether that’s with her dance, her laugh, her jokes or even character impressions. if she wasn’t on the path to being an idol, she’d definitely want to go into variety. perhaps one day she might be able to do both

hello! sorry it took me so long to get this done but work. my name’s lu and i’m really excited to be here with none other than my incredibly piece of work daejung. i’m in the -5/6 tz (idk anymore bcs of the dls). i’m a little slow with the messages, but i’ll eventually get to them pls be patient with this old hag. my boy’s stats, personality, background are all up and here you’ll find a tldr of his background (because it’s a long read and i’m incredibly sorry, idk when to shut up). meanwhile, here’s a trivia and down below it, some plots and prompts.

trivia:

⇢ his mom is the one behind his love for dancing, being a dancer herself back when she was in high school, though from a very different discipline; ballet. this is one of the many reasons why he was a better relationship with her than his father. 

⇢ he’s danced his whole life, but stopped doing it once he entered middle school and mostly because his new friends made fun of it, saying it was lame and such, which made him insecure regardless of his mother reassuring words. 

⇢ the reason he struggled so much with college were the theory-based classes and this is a burden he’s carried his whole life. however, in more practical classes, he was outstanding. reason why he wasn’t expelled from college neither losing his scholarship.

⇢ he’s pretty decent at playing other sports such as basketball and soccer, but after an injury that seemed worst than what it really was, he got really scared of getting hurt and unable to dance, so he’s very cautious in those rare occasions he decides to play.

⇢ got obsessed with videogames back in the states and only recently he got his very first playstation ever. he likes fps and rpg games, his favorites right now are overwatch and the witcher 3: wild hunt.

⇢ he’s a pretty decent neighbour... except when he isn’t. most of the time, he’s mindful of not disturbing the others, but every now and then he likes to throw very loud parties at his place just for the sake of it and they run till very early in the morning. 

⇢ daejung is not a morning person. even though he wakes up at 7am sharp, it’s not advised to make long conversations with him before this, the most he will respond with is a hum or an inaudible mumble. 

⇢ has several playlists on his phone, all for different reasons, moods and occasions. he can spend hours trying to curate the perfect playlist and loves sharing this with people he’s close to. if he likes you and you two have a good friendship, it’s really likely that he has a playlist with your name. 

⇢ likes covering dances a lot, especially those with more challenging choreographies and has a collection of videos he’s filmed, but never seen the light. sometimes she shares clips of them on his instagram account and has considered several times to open his own channel. it’s a thought that constantly sits on his mind.

⇢ despite his overall behaviour and attitude, he’s really good at teaching, especially kids. he’s learnt to be patient and professional in the practice room and he often wishes that could translate to his personal life. he’s trying to be better though.

the worst part was that there wasn’t even an argument, not a proper one. no big blow out, no screaming words of closure. they just stopped talking and as the days turned to weeks, then to months both had no idea how to breach the chasm between them anymore even when you wanted to. daejung might’ve seemed disinterested but it was because he didn’t want to dwell in the sadness that losing his best friend brought along. ​

ever since his mom was diagnosed with leukemia, the ong family visited the hospital constantly. the first year was the most difficult. daejung found it hard to stay in the room for more than few minutes as the doctors went over the treatment and such, reason why he preferred to stay in the waiting room. they were there one day (reason is up to the typist). somehow both ended up pouring their hearts out about how difficult everything was and bonded over sorrows and crude jokes.

daejung’s gotten as a birthday present an instant camera and likes to snap photos of what he finds beautiful. one day he decides to take a picture of this beautiful, old fashioned building that you happen to be standing near. you notice that daejung is taking pictures. “well if you wanted to take my photo just ask.” daejung clarifies that it isn’t the case. regardless, you continue and even strike some poses, saying that you’re ready for your photo to be taken, making daejung laugh for a while, eventually agreeing to take a photo.

Two Person Armed Defense

This week, I m running a Two Person Armed Defense class at Reno Guns & Range in Nevada. It has been about a year since we launched the program, which is a combination of various concepts from Team Tactics programs designed for SWAT, Military, Executive Protection or other “Armed Professional” adapted to fit the context of two family members, friends, co-workers (including police and security personnel) or others who are frequently both together and armed. As Concealed Carry has become both easier and much more common over the past two decades, this type of training has moved from Fantasy Camp status to something that just makes sense for a lot of people. 20 years ago, it was much less likely that you would have multiple people in the same place carrying guns for personal defense. If nothing else, the dramatic growth in women carrying guns for their own protection and not just relying on the men in their lives to carry the guns means that more and more couples should think about how they can coordinate their actions in an emergency to be as safe as possible, instead of simply responding as two individuals. The Three C’s of team operations form the foundation of the course: Coordination, Communication & Cooperation. The Two Person Armed Defense Class addresses practical approaches to team tactics for the everyday person. The course, offered as a one day or a two day which includes force-on-force scenarios and is not only applicable to people who are often in each others company. The skills and concepts developed in the course can be applied to situations where you might find yourself in the presence of another armed good guy as well, as the communication and cooperation aspects can be quickly applied even when people haven’t trained formally together. Most of the concepts can also be applied to increase the capabilities of any tow people, even when only one is armed with a defensive firearm. Some of the drills also overlap with concepts from Shooting in Defense of Others that you care about. This is not a Wanna-Be SWAT Course or military-esque course that teaches bounding overwatch and complicated choreographed maneuvers or “room clearing” concepts. It is a simple, practical approach to maximizing the capabilities of typical people that carry defensive firearms in an emergency situation. If you spend time with other armed people, as most in the gun community do, consider thinking about how you could work together to be safer. IAL/Overwatch Characters in Quarantine

First, I’m assuming they’re at base, maybe even in their own quarters. So they aren’t short on resources and there are plenty of drones and omnics that can visit/deliver items– they just need have their chassis sanitized afterward.

Torby:  He would immediately craft a hazmat/containment suit so he could go out.  He would also neglect to tell most everyone, because he could use the vacation.  He would also be making them for his wife, kids, and cats. If there are mechanical requirements, he would also be designing potential solutions - nano filters, early detection modules, air scrubbers, etc. There would be weird handwashing jokes.  

Reinhardt:  He would take quarantine very seriously, because he’s protective of his fellow agents and Angela has explained exactly how much harm he could cause if he doesn’t keep his distance from them.  But he is such a social person, and he would get lonely, so he’s always making video calls and switching between comm channels, jumping into everyone’s conversations, ordering food, and badgering Torby to make him a giant armored containment suit.  He would have teleconferencing tea parties with Brigitte and Ana and send Ziv lots of messages requesting help because he’s stuck on a kind-of-tricky platforming game.

Ana: It would have been a vacation, but Reinhardt keeps calling her to chat about everything ever. (He thinks she might be lonely? She doesn’t really feel like bursting his bubble.)�� Lucky keeps calling to ask advice. (With Ana out, Lacroix and other troublemakers are running around unsupervised).  And Lacroix keeps sending her cheerful messages about how well he is managing everything. She is very suspicious, but reluctantly commits to not worrying about what is out of her hands. She can focus on fixing things afterward. Her hair might go a little grayer. She would be receiving lots of snack and tea deliveries from Athena drones.

Gabriel: He would be fine running Blackwatch remotely, but several agents would require “just wait till I get out of here...” threats.  He would enjoy wearing his pajamas while working, and catching up on mending Jack and Lucky’s clothing.  They really are so destructive.  He would take great pleasure in sending dirty messages/videos to his lovers just to wind them up.  But that is mutually assured destruction as he’s stuck by himself too...  

Jack: At first he would appreciate the slowdown, but after the first twelve hours, he would get very antsy. Yes, he’s issuing orders and handling situations, but he would like to go for a run, or spar, or do more sweaty dirty things with Gabriel and Lucky. Plus it would be nice to hover behind his lovers and steal food off their plates. There would be a lot of pouty “I miss you” messages, and beefcake selfies. But after a few days, he could go really off the deep end and do the opposite. He would just sit there in a bathrobe and eat green beans out of a can and drink out of the ketchup bottle. Or he’d take pictures of himself in Hawaiian shirts and socks with sandals and send them with taunting messages like, “Who says I can’t wear plaid with floral print?” Jack should probably not be quarantined alone.

Lucky: Lucky would probably try to enjoy the first day or two, but then she would be getting all kinds of messages from everyone about how grumpy the Blackwatch Commander is, how Ziv is running amok, and how their socks keep disappearing and where exactly is Isha? It would be very stressful, but Jack would make long calls while wearing silly outfits to try to cheer her up. (Jack would put on a blanket and pretend to be ghost or grandmother. It would not be convincing, but it would be cute.) Gabriel would cook her delicious meals and make plans for the future: where should we take our next vacation? Do you think this would look better on Jack or me? On you? OK, we’ll get three.” Lucky would curl up in a blanket and fall asleep to Gabriel reading to her or Jack snoring on the line because he drifted off at his desk.

Lacroix: As long as he could meddle, plot, and make his minions do his bidding, he would be fine. He would probably even get dressed properly, cook a gourmet meal, and have romantic video-call dates with his lovers. But because he isn’t outside to personally grief his friends/victims, he would be hiring other agents to do it for him. Athena might be amused enough to help him carry out these plots or at least cover his tracks.

Winston: Because his expertise would be required to help solve the problem, Winston would remain in his lab, hard at work. He would check in with his friends daily, and have mandatory downtime thanks to Athena. Basically, it would be like every other day, except Ziv can’t come in to badger him. So...more productive?

Amélie: Only boring people get bored. Aside from her strenuous exercise regiment, Amélie has plenty of books, films, and fancy wines. Perhaps she will have a boudoir photo shoot. Perhaps she will adapt and choreograph a modernized version of Twelve Dancing Princesses. Perhaps she will craft long term strategies for assassinating every member of the UN Security Council, just for fun. Most likely, she will go on an internet shopping spree and Lucky and Ziv will wake up the next day with entirely new wardrobes. The clothing would be accompanied by detailed stylistic “recommendations,” as well as notes clearly expressing how disappointed she will be if they fail to comply.

Hanzo: He would stick to a disciplined exercise regiment, meditate, and eventually have a cake craving. He might try cooking/baking if the facilities were available. If he tried to make something complex, there is fifty percent chance of him completely screwing it up. But fortunately no one saw, right? There is a one hundred percent chance that Athena recorded it.

Genji: Genji’s actions would be (un)surprisingly like Hanzo’s. The main difference is that Genji also likes video games and would ask Athena to read recipes and help him monitor whatever food he was making. So it would have a much higher chance of turning out successful. There is a one hundred percent chance that he would taunt Lucky by sending video of him eating his successful cake, though he might not tell her where it came from.

Angela: Let’s be honest, she would enjoy her vacation while everyone else freaked out, especially if it was just isolation and there was no dire need for her help. She could also remotely task Zenyatta or Athena to handle things.

Jesse: He would send lots of plaintive message to Lucky and Gabriel, mostly about how he was really hungry, and not feeling good, and maybe someone could make him some chili? Or soup? He would spend the first few hours on the couch with Bandit watching westerns. Though if Bandit wasn’t there, he would make the babysitter (probably Lucky) make multiple video calls so he could fuss over his dog. He would also get bored the fastest. He would start making cocktails based on people he knows.  It would get ridiculous (and drunk-ish) very quickly.

Tataryn: He would take the time to catch up on his skincare regiment, beauty sleep, and knife sharpening. He would be responsible and check on Vo... And then he would start sending messages to Lucky making increasingly outrageous requests. It would start small like, “could you pick up my dry cleaning and some fresh pomegranates?” And escalate from there into “borrow the Mona Lisa” and “hand deliver this love letter to Captain Amari.” He would also make lots of calls to Kseniya, and make an effort to study whatever subject has caught her interest: the social behavior of lemurs, sourdough starters, and a new magical girl show.

Ziv: He can do his job in isolation. He’d probably revel in the luxury of getting to wear sweatpants and not having to dress up. He would also binge video games, movies, and play D&D or Shadowrun remotely with his internet friends. There is a chance that Ziv doesn’t actually need to be quarantined, but Gabriel just signed off on it for personal reasons.

Távio: He would be incredibly bored, sending increasingly desperate messages to his friends, until Lucky finally cobbled together a mission for him to plan remotely. “We need to breach this casino’s security. Coordinate with Ziv.” Which of course, would just turn his attention of Ziv and the two of them would keep each other busy. Of course, it could just as easily be, “help Amélie arrange the catering and entertainment for Captain Amari’s birthday luncheon,” or “talk to Reinhardt for an hour.”

Chang: She would chainsmoke and drink most of the time, possibly calling Jack once every other day to check on the situation. Yes, she would exercise too, but Chang’s idea of fun involves a lot more destruction than those facilities can handle.

Feng: Feng would be bored and manic, but she would be fine. Whose fault do you think this entire thing is anyway?

okay so i said i’d write this on friday and then i didn’t but i really wanted to so i’m doing it now

not to be a cinnamon tography nerd on main but i have things to say about vrijdag 21:21, nobody asked for this but here they come:

(spoiler alert this got long so it’s all under the cut, enter at your own risks;))

first off the lighting in the lobby: pure gold (*finger guns*). there is a warm yellow golden light around the door due to the street lights outside, so when robbe walked further, he was in the colder whiter light from the building. Then. when sander came in, the shots of him were in this golden light, which creates such a heavy contrast. i mean look at them side by side, do you see the difference? It could show that the two characters are not in the same head space and that their feelings coming into the scene are very different. Reminder that at this point and time they have not spoken since sander kissed britt and he never answered robbe’s messages either. Sander walks in this scene with the purpose of telling robbe that he chose him, not Britt, but robbe is lost and has “colder” feelings towards sander.

but thennnnn when they both come together in the same frame, the colours fit together so well that robbe blends into the golden light and the background, like he was meant to be there. Whether it’s his hair or his coat he just melts into the set and your focus is instantly drawn to sander who immediately stands out.

also, all of the shots from the beginning are very warm, until we see the “cold ‘robbe’” shot (im calling it that but you know which one i mean i’m bad with words sorry). so not only does it represent their feelings and creates a contrast, it feels very unsettling to the watcher because up until this shot, all of the shots were rather warm and yellow-toned, even the close ups of robbe’s face because the coldness of the shot comes mostly from the white wall behind him. So, having scene all of these golden-lit shots before, when seeing robbe in colder, bluer light it feels surprising, much like robbe felt seeing sander.

sounds in the lobby: not one. there is not one sound but the creaking of sander’s boots and his leather jacket, their breathing and the *yearning noises*, and yet i know for a fact those doors dont block sounds at all, and especially not all the sounds you can hear when robbe is outside walking in, meaning they were cut on purpose. In other clips there is always some background sound to represent their surroundings, to make it feel more real, and cutting that out really shows that this right there is 1) all you should be focused on and 2) all that really matters in the story and in each of the characters’ life at this point. facts also strengthened by 1) the fact that all sounds go quiet the second sander closes the door and is officially in the building and 2) the fact that you see a red light flashing passing by (see picture below) and you don’t. hear. a. thing.

continuing in the sounds in the lobby category is the synchronization of the song with their kiss and most specifically sander’s jaw (because it’s taking up most of the frame). at 1:36 and 1:37 between the lyrics “take it” and “how you want it” there is a cymbal or sound of some sort that resembles a breath in, and that sinks in perfectly with the movement of sander’s jaw that indicates a breath as well (see picture below). If you grew up doing a choreographed sport, you know how important it is for you to do moves on certain cues in the music to show that you were perfectly in harmony with it or else you could get points deducted, and if you didn’t grow up doing those types of sports and you didn’t know music is important, well now you know and it is soooo important because of the harmony. You being in sync with the song you’re choreographed to truly shows that everything is where it’s supposed to be, when it’s supposed to be there, not a second earlier, just like their reunion.

twirling transition from the lobby to the bedroom: *chef’s kiss*

photography in the bedroom: 13/10. they move on to the bedroom with the overhead shot, which is so effective. this shot placed above their heads actually detaches you from the scene because you are placed above them, like an omniscient overwatcher, so yes, you feel like you are intruding, being kind of like a peeping tom, but this shot sold the clip to me because it visually changed things up, but it actually reminded you that you’re just a watcher and that this is something between them, and you aren’t part of the scene. Yes, you feel like you’re intruding, but let me tell you if all the shots we had were ground shots or eye-level shots you would feel the intrusion feels even more.

okay! next! this shot:

this is very much shot with a wide angle lens and you can tell by the disproportion of robbe’s face (how big his forehead is compared to his chin). WA lenses are often used in films and photography to how the surroundings and the world around a certain character or thing. A fairly common shot is a character in the middle of a frame with all of his surroundings to make him/her/them feel small compared to the world around them. Basically, all i’m trying to say is, to me, this shot felt like they were using the WA lens to represent the world around them but it only showed robbe and his chain, or sander’s world in that moment, nothing else matters, it’s just him and robbe, alone, in a universe of their own, much like the outside sound or lack thereof in the lobby.

then when they’re kissing and they intertwine their fingers, the shot goes from having them kissing in focus and the hands out of focus in the foreground to having them out of focus in the background and their hands in focus. I feel like this is pretty self explanatory, but it really shows that they are together, on the same plane, as physical proof. Yes, the lighting and the angles were showing that before in the clip, but in that moment, that physical touch shows that they really are one and in sync.

and then that last overhead shot where it spirals and gets higher and higher plays on that intimacy again, it’s the reminder. Since the last ‘overhead’ (even though it wasn’t *technically* overhead but you get it) shot all that we got were very close, specific or WA shots that made you feel like you were part of the scene. You easily noticed and focused on the details, and that last shot starts like that, focusing on sander’s back and moving to robbe’s hand, bringing your focus from his back that took up most of the frame to robbe’s hand, a very specific element of the frame, until it starts to spiral away, moving higher. THIS REMOVES YOU FROM THE SCENE IN THE MOST PERFECT WAY. Essentially, the focus change from the back to the hand gathers your glances. It makes sure that wherever you were looking before you are now solely looking at robbe’s hand and then the shot moves backwards still focusing on the hand and withdraws you as a watcher from the scene, and basically wraps that scene in a perfect bow. It reminds you that you saw what they were doing, but in the end it really just is all about them and you were only witnessing it. And this is only strengthened by the last two seconds.

After the overhead shot is first moving backwards, it’s lowered again and you’re closer to their heads, and yes you’re still close to them, but not with the level of intimacy you had before because you’re now not part of the scene you’re just a witness floating over them. Fun Fact: it is also the exact same shot that we first get of them on the bed, just lifting up instead of coming down (see picture below) and it just finishes the clip beautifully imo. tl;dr the overhead shots are basically a way to remove you from the scene and imo they were very effective and beautifully done.

geometry in the bedroom: diagonally amazing. As humans, our eyes love geometry, and studies show that if there is some form of geometry in a photo, we’ll tend to like it and appreciate it more. It’s not the geometry from elementary school with squares and triangles, but stuff like the rule of the thirds and multiple lines that all lead to one specific point. What i noticed a lot in this clip particularly was the diagonal lines. First example: sander’s back in the last few shots of the clip: it goes from one corner of the frame and even though it does not reach the other corner of the frame, there is nothing that is particularly blocking it, meaning your eye elongates it and creates a coherent line, which is very appealing to the eye and very easy to follow. It is also part of what makes the shots so ~aesthetially pleasing~, but there are multiple examples of this throughout the clip (see picture below) like the movement of the focus from their faces to the intertwining of their hands, which brings me to my next point.

movement in the bedroom (it sounds so sexual omg i promise it’s not): smooth. One of filmmaking’s golden rule is to not move the camera unless it is absolutely necessary, which is why i was absolutely floored when it happened on three major occasions: 1) at 1:54 when robbe removes sander’s shirt the camera moves along with his hand, essentially keeping robbe’s watch in the centre 2) at 2:09 when the shot goes from sander’s boot up along his leg to robbe climbing sander like a tree and 3) at 3:08 when the focus moves from their faces to their hands holding (but i kind of already talked about that one).

Not going to lie, i have no particular analysis for 2 apart from the fact that it might have been used for contrast because of the black jeans and boots compared to the skin, but it looked so good that i am not mad it was included in the final cut. As for 1, to me, it symbolized their emotional stripping? like they are physically stripping but being in the movement of it meant something more and made it a symbol of how they are committing emotionally to one another after all this time, stripped of anything else, kind of like their first kiss. just them and their *in love noises* and nothing in the way.

All i’m saying is that this clip was so incredibly easy to watch because all of the geometry and movement does all the work for you, it makes your eyes move from one corner of the frame to the other with ease, and the lighting set the mood perfectly with such a warm colour.
