Cosmos atrosanguineus (Chocolate Cosmos). Today’s #oneadayplant if you like that sort of thing... . I do and I don’t. Beautiful flower, but never enough of them. Ok foliage, but all too much of it. Costly to purchase, but dies far too readily. Scented (of chocolate), but my arthritic knees don’t like having to get to the ground to smell it as it doesn’t carry. . Almost a brilliant plant. Almost. . Full sun and well drained soil essential. In optimum conditions, it may come through some winters. Not many in my experience and even more rarely a better plant in year two. Best in a pot in a greenhouse over winter. . Still, what a decadent colour - also Chocolate.
