Eucalyptus beast ancients au rewrite
wasn't happy with old one
beast ancients belongs to: @cuppajj
----
A prize. A trophy.
That’s all she ever had been in the eyes of her captors. Hunters who came charging in with weapons of fire and destruction. Body after body fell, blood seeping out of their wounds. Skin charred and black from the fire brushing against the fragile yet beautiful eucalyptus skin. Skin not prepared for the blood and fire of that day. They ran in elegant outfits. Such outfits that would lead to their survival and their doom. Eucalyptus herself, was the main prize of this destruction. She watched from lavish palace walls as body after body fell onto the ground. Their eyes frozen in fear. Blood pooled around them, further staining the fabric of their outfits wether they were elegant or not. That is, if they did not have wounds in the first place. Bleeding wounds that trailed behind them, staining their makeshift bandages.
That very same day she watched her parents die. Watched them send armies to their death. Only for them to watch in horror as they were slaughtered by such arrogant and cruel cookies. Cookies who only wanted fortune. Fortune that would come from exploitation and blood. They bought to the best of their abilities, displaying what strength usually left untouched by the both of them. Royals decorated in elegance and lavish were normally above such things. In a bloodied wasteland, once their glorious kingdom built over centuries, none of that mattered. Nor did their efforts to survive. Eucalyptus watched as they were butchered into parts to sell, just like all the other bodies would be.
But her? No, she was special. She was the trophy of a successful conquest. The prize of their bloody destruction. A prize they showed and flaunted like an exotic animal at a circus. Such practices had become uncommon as the public started to realize the poor animal’s suffering. No one looked at her like a poor animal suffering. They looked at her suffering like it was normal. As if it was morally right. She cried for help, yet all they would say is “Your a dragon. Why do you need help?”. Then they’d walk away, saying she didn’t deserve help like every other cookie. Yet they wanted her to fit their mold. To follow their rules.
All she could wonder was, why?
Why did the cookies look at dragons with greed and fear? What was it about the beauty and strength about dragons that caused them to think such ways? Why would no one help her? Why were they, dragons, so sought after?
It was ironic how they were the ones who had to hide just for their survival. A weaker species of dragon, she could understand that. Yet, all of them? All of them hiding their features and what made them dragons who should be respected as they are feared. Yet she did not hide, she used her title as a way of commanding fear. Perhaps there was a reason they had hid. Especially since now when the hunters desperately searched for what was left of dragons they massacred and a new threat was on the horizon.
Dragonberry.
Once Hollyberry. An adventurer who became a lively and caring queen. Eucalyptus wasn’t fond of many cookies, seeing as how they had treated her in her lowest moment. Hollyberry, along with her friends, gave Eucalyptus some hope. All be it was small, it was hope. Something kept in the deepest part of her mind but not forgotten. Yet, the once lively and joyous queen had become a disgusting prideful monster. A monster who chained pitaya in her ballroom to claim him as a pet. Her intentions? To achieve dragonhood. Not an uncommon goal among hunters and cookies. Their greed knew no bounds after all. Yet, Eucalyptus was still disappointed when the news reached her. Not only did Hollyberry fall from grace, so did her friends. Yet it was Dragonberry who caused a panic throughout the dragon circle. Angelonia sent Catmint and Lupine somewhere else, to a similar place were many other dragons seemed to flee to. Many dragons fled or disappeared, their voices a whisper in the dragon circles of information. Hunters had been a risk but not a problem for most. Dragonberry was a disaster in cookie form. An ancient, someone not easily defeated or killed.
Eucalyptus sat in a room decorated by luxury. Gold. Silk of red, pink, gold, and various other colors that fit Eucalyptus’ taste. After being denied the luxury she was born in, she almost became obsessed with it. Not only that it was a powerful symbol among the cookies below her just who held the money and power. In her hand she held a glass of wine, rich in flavor. It was a red wine, which easily stained. Perhaps not the best choice but she was going to die, what did it matter if the expensive rug was stained? Eucalyptus sat on the chair, awaiting the fate that was slowly stepping in. She did not run from it. What did she have to fear about death, her own lover? Wether she lived or not it would be in her love’s arms. Safe.
The clanking of armor slowly reached Eucalyptus’ ears, alerting her of just who had arrived. Eucalyptus opened her eyes with a soft sigh, setting down the unfinished glass of wine as she turned to face her guest. Dragonberry stood proudly, waiting for the dragon to face her despite not being worthy of such mannerisms. None the less, Eucalyptus faced the once glorious ancient. Bright berry pink eyes stared at her with cat eye silts like a dragon’s. She wore the skull of a dragon or some other monster, dressed in fashionable armor. It wasn’t too different from her glory days, only it carried an air of pride. Pride created through pain, darkness, and blood. Far from the queen’s humble beginnings of friendship and kindness. What had happened was not even something Sweet pea knew, and she knew everything there was to be shared. Though some she never spoke of. For a few moments, the two stared at each other. Eucalyptus stood over the ancient, though not by much. A few inches maybe.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.” Eucalyptus spoke, “You go by Dragonberry now, correct?”
Dragonberry smiled, “I’m happy to see you know. Its been tiring to correct cookies.”
Eucalyptus doesn’t laugh with the once glorious ancient. She doesn’t smile. Eucalyptus rarely smiled, especially now in the midst of a silent apocalypse. She stared at the queen, eyes cold and emotionless.
“Yes, I suppose it has been.” Eucalyptus replies, “Would you like some wine?”
The queen politely nods no. Ironic considering her plans. Their obvious. Why else would the queen be here? It was not an easy task to find Eucalyptus. Eucalyptus herself knew that, she had made sure of it. Eucalyptus picks up her wine, slowly sipping it until there is no wine left.
“Last drink?” The queen chuckles.
“Why do you say that?” Eucalyptus asks as if she is unaware.
“I come to challenge you. I’m sure you heard the news.” Dragonberry proudly replies.
Eucalyptus sets down the now empty glass, “You dare challenge me when I have death by my side?”
The once glorious ancient scoffs and laughs, “Death on your side? Not even a dragon is capable of such a feat.”
Eucalyptus sighs, she had not expected the cookie to believe her. Patiently, she waited until she heard the flap of wings. Barely audible even in the silence. Beside her Blue velvet appeared, standing in white as she held her scythe. Blue eyes looked up at Eucalyptus, cold and emotionless on the outside. On the inside they held pain as they held love. Firm hands threatened to shake. She was always swayed by her emotions, unable to handle the force of her own emotions given to her by foolish creators. The ancient, as Eucalyptus expected, doesn’t react in fear. She laughs in excitement, eager to fight death herself in the flesh.
“Well this just got even more exciting!” The neo-beast laughs.
Blue velvet glares the queen with disgust and disappointment.
“You are disgusting. You want to become these beautiful creations by wearing their flesh? You are truly foolish, such pride will lead to a harder fall from what grace you have left. As the messenger of the gods, I pray you may be given mercy you do not deserve.”
Dragonberry laughs, shouting at them to fight her already. Eucalyptus doesn’t bat an eye at the once glorious cookie. Someone who had once given her a glimmer of hope in a world she despised. A world more dark and hopeless than ever. When was it not though?
“So be it then. You start the battle you are so eager to begin.” Eucalyptus replied.
Dragonberry happily complied, charging at her with the shield. Eucalyptus stepped out of the way, sword clanging against the shield as the queen blocked each attack. Dragonberry laughed and taunted Eucalyptus, hoping one of the jabs would cause her to bite the bait. Eucalyptus could see the bait, begging her to bite. It begged the same as her victims did. Blood gushing out of their sliced throats where her claws had struck. Even now, she used such claws and spiked tail. It pounded against the shield, creating a loud BOOM with each collision. The queen smiled, confident and prideful. Her eyes watched each attack, taking note of each part she desired. It was sickening and all too familiar, just like when she was the princess shown around as a trophy of bloody heartless conquest. Blue velvet watched each move as they continued to fight. Eucalyptus attacked with the sword yet again. Dragonberry smiled as she knocked the sword to the ground, picking it up to aim at Eucalyptus. Eucalyptus stood still, staring coldly at the queen.
“Now will you come on your own free will or will I have to force you?” The queen smirked as she commanded orders she was not worth of giving.
Eucalyptus laughed, “So what? I can be your lab rat just like Pitaya?”
Dragonberry became irritated at the response given, “They were foolish but they at least knew when to submit.”
“You only caught Pitaya because he knew you, or well, what you had once been.” Eucalyptus scoffed, “I once used to admire you. There’s not many cookies I am fond of. You once had been someone in my good graces, a rare feat.”
The once glorious ancient smiled again with a sinister glee. An expression Eucalyptus knew all too well. It was an expression her captors, and other hunters, often wore. They would say cheers and clack their glasses like what they did was an honorable thing. Dragonberry acted the same way, yet as she stood she was more distant from the flesh she wore. A flesh that trapped her in a smaller body, keeping her at a disadvantage. Something a draconic body would solve.
Blue velvet quickly swooped in, knocking the sword out of Dragonberry’s hands. Pieces of the blade fell onto the ground with a clatter noise. The queen stared in shock and anger. She wanted the dragon to bow down to her, believing she was entitled to such mannerisms. Yet, she was not. Such respect would never be given to a cookie. And why should it? After all the blood shed and destruction they caused, why did they deserve such respect? The queen attacked Blue velvet, charging at her. Blue velvet swiftly dodged, scythe clanking against the shield. Eucalyptus watched carefully, though her love could not die she did not want the witches to see what they had hidden perfectly.
“Having death fight your battles?” Dragonberry taunted, “I had expected better from someone I heard so much about.”
Eucalyptus held the sword against the ancient’s throat. Dragonberry cackled and looked up, daring Eucalyptus to do it.
“Do tell me Dragonberry, what do you seek to achieve?”
“Dragonhood.” The queen responded.
“After that?”
The queen stood silent and then responded with a “depends” as she held her own weapon to Eucalyptus in the form of a threat. Eucalyptus looked at the weapon, giving the same daring look the queen had given her. Dragonberry didn’t hesitate, pressing the sharp end into the skin. Blood poured out slowly, staining the fabric Eucalyptus favored.
“Your the first person to defeat me. Sadly, I am not the first to defeat you.”
Dragonberry stared in confusion as Eucalyptus spoke. Before she could shout, a figure slammed into her like a bull. Quickly he got up, staring at Blue velvet for a second. Blue velvet didn’t reply, simply using his own smaller souljam.
“Thank you. Now go.” The voice spoke.
Blue velvet nodded, walking off with the dragon she loved in silence. Cold eyes stared at the queen as she hissed and picked herself back off the ground.
Then, for a moment the queen stared at the figure in front of her. A familiar figure. Though the clothes he wore were different and unrecognizable, the face was the same. He stared at her coldly with dark berry red eyes. Hair of the same color with a white stripe just like his father. A characteristic all of Frigid Cacao’s children shared with only one exception. And that exception was dead. The first time she saw him she didn’t believe it was her own son. The flesh and blood who’s dead body she held in her own hands. Face smashed and unrecognizable, it was hardly able to be considered a face. She had thought it to be some cruel illusion, unsure from what. Yet, as she stared at him… she knew this was her son. The sword. The face. It was the same. Though he didn’t look at her with the same warmth, almost as if he was a shell of himself. He wasn’t. He couldn’t be when he still fought as horribly as before. The messy improper form. It was him standing before her. But why did he look at her so coldly?
“Darkberry?” The queen asked hesitantly.
He held the sword in his hand, a sword that still bore the words she had ordered to be engraved. He recognized her, his expression became more harsh. The opposite of what Dragonberry had expected.
“Don’t you dare speak my name mother.” Darkberry commanded.
“I am the queen, you may not speak as if you are above me!” Dragonberry hissed, reminding him.
“I know.” He replied, “But you are no longer my mother. I am legally dead, there is no way to bind me to your castle. No, that’s a lie. The truth however, is you cannot hold me in your arms. You holding my body was the last time you will ever hold me again.”
“Why? Why are you treating me so coldly?” Dragonberry held her arms open for the son she dearly missed, “You used to always come to my arms.”
“You used to not hunt dragons.” Darkberry snapped.
“So is that what this is about?” Dragonberry snapped.
“YES!” Darkberry shouted, “Can you even begin to imagine how I felt!? I climbed out of hell, and am welcomed by this!?”
Dragonberry stood there. At first she thought she hadn’t heard that right. She wasn’t the woman she used to be but she was still a mother who cared for her son.
“Is that where you were?” Dragonberry asked with pain in her voice, “Why? Why would you go there?”
“Oh I don’t know mother, trying to kill dragons!? Oh maybe its because I knew one and I knew damn well dragons weren’t the monsters they are said to be. This is a mindless and greed oriented massacre!”
“You do not understand what is necessary.” Dragonberry hissed.
“And for what? More power? You are not the mother I knew. You used to be friends with a dragon, now what?” Darkberry cut her off before she could answer, “Don’t. I don’t want to hear another word from you. Do you even know how many hunters I saw there? All screaming and begging to be saved. I don’t want that to be you, even if I can no longer recognize you.”
“Darkberry don’t be like your brother.” Dragonberry sighed in irritation.
“Don’t be like your brother?” Darkberry laughed, “Now that’s the first time I’ve heard that! It was always “why aren’t you like Glaze”. Now it’s don’t be like him? What a joke, mother your a joke! Taking back the throne, and then this? No wonder Berry lily disappeared from the face of Earthbread. No mother, I will be like my brother because at least he didn’t fall from grace.”
“You didn’t experience what I did.” Dragonberry snapped, “What gives you the right to talk?”
“I went through the fires of hell and came out as a sharper sword. You on the other hand, have become rather dull as you use spikes to hide the fact.” Darkberry replied, “I will see you next time when you are killing yet another dragon to hide just how dull you have become.”
“You are no prince, you know that?!” Dragonberry shouted.
“Never was.” Darkberry replied without looking back as he walked out.
Darkberry sat on a white wooden boat as a female slowly rowed toward an island. Her skin was like porcelain, shining like a seashell. Her hair didn’t move in the wind, only her arms and legs very slowly. Her expression didn’t change, emotionless yet beautiful. She wore a white dress, its fabric as unmoving as her hair. Upon arrival he was greeted by more of the porcelain seashell women who held staffs in their hands and watched him very coldly. Their eyes stared at each movement he made. Darkberry forgot what it was like to be paid attention to, something he had once desired so much he committed great sins just to get such attention. Now after what he had escaped, attention still caused him to flinch at times. Beyond the sand was life forms like nothing he had ever seen. However, that was not what grabbed his attention. It was the one waiting for him.
Prince Chocolate Glaze, standing there and waiting for him. He looked as composed as always until he finally noticed Darkberry. The perfect expression of a prince fell as Glaze took in what had become of the brother he once knew. It wasn’t long before Glaze broke down into tears, hugging his brother tightly.
“You don’t know how much I blamed myself for what happened Darkberry…”
“It’s ok brother.” Darkberry reassured, “I’m not going anywhere this time around.”
“I know. I know.” Cried Glaze, “I just… I remember seeing your body. The blood. Everything.”
Darkberry didn’t respond, simply hugging his brother closely. The warmth familiar and comforting on its own. Glaze continued to sob, finally having the chance to cry in a time such as this. One were venerability was a luxury.
