alright have this half thought out thing before i log off for the night:

mistaken identity fic where ghost is presumed to be a hired stripper for a hen party (translation: bachelorette party).

cw/tw: alcohol mention, ghost's sense of humour.

let's say you're invited to your friend's hen party at the home she shares with her fiancé. you're the only sober one in the house and despite your best efforts at having a good time, you're really not feeling it.

some of her other friends kind of suck but you're being a good sport about all the silly games they want to play and have to repeatedly remind them that no really, you're fine with a soft drink and no, you don't want a splash of vodka in it. but it's fine. only a few more hours until you can go home and take off the stupid penis headband you've been forced to wear.

then one of the Other Friends, takes you aside and giggles drunkenly that she's hired a stripper as a "surprise" for the bride-to-be. you barely manage to tamp down on your eye roll as the door to the living room swings open and an absolute unit of a man in a skull mask stares at the crowd of people.

there's a pause before the ringleader of the Other Friends (what's her name again? chloe? christie? charlotte? whatever, it's irrelevant) grabs him by his arm and leads him over to the future-bride, yelling for someone to turn on the music already!

on comes the speakers and this time you do roll your eyes as your eardrums are nearly wiped out by "You Can Leave Your Hat On" and you watch chloe/christie/charlotte shove fistfuls of twenty quid notes at him.

what happens next is painfully awkward and it becomes clear to you (as the only sober person at this gathering) that the man swaying his hips half-heartedly isn't the aforementioned stripper as the others hoot and holler and try to get him to take off his mask.

at the end of the song (to everyone else's boos) you grab the man and drag him into the kitchen under the guise of getting him a drink before his next dance.

"listen, i think we both know you're not here for the strip tease."

the man stills, drink still clutched in his hand. 

"is that right?"

you scoff and roll your eyes. "well, duh. anyone even remotely sober can see that you're not exactly stripping material."

"yeah? you sure about that?" he asks. he sounds amused, not that you can really tell, what with the whole massive skull mask thing.

you shoot him a withering glare and purse your lips. he hasn't uncovered an inch of his skin despite being a "stripper."

"call it a wild guess." you respond drily and the man chuckles.

"would you believe me if i told you i was actually a snake handler?"

you arch a brow, you have a feeling you know where this is going....

"yeah?"

"mm. got one in m'trousers if you ever fancy takin' a peek."

you hate yourself a little bit for laughing at the absolutely dreadful line.

Went to a con over the weekend, and a highlight was getting a picture taken with some LiS cosplayers, a pair cosplaying as Max and Chloe.

Was amused by their response when they asked me “You know what Life is Strange is? You play that?��� upon me calling out their character names to catch their attention.

Yeah, I can see why they’d ask that. But they were cool. Even got given a Missing Person’s poster from Max.

Also had a cool photoshoot run by another cosplayer, and I will def be posting those pics once I get them (will be a couple weeks at this point).

On Monday, Protect Kids Colorado announced at a sparsely attended press conference that all its anti-transgender ballot initiatives failed to meet the signature requirements to appear on the 2024 ballot. The initiatives included a forced outing bill and a transgender sports ban, as well as previously failed measures such as banning gender-affirming care for trans youth. Colorado joins a series of states where anti-trans ballot initiatives have failed to meet the ballot signature requirements, indicating potential fatigue on the issue among conservative voters.

"We are striving to make Colorado a safer place to live for families and children. Despite falling short of the required signatures to make the 2024 ballot, we consider this ballot initiative effort a major success," the group announced to a handful of people carrying signs. The only video of the press conference appeared on a small YouTube account titled "1A Media," which briefly panned to show only two other people attending. The group was responsible for two ballot initiatives approved for signature collection. The first, titled “Parental Notification of Gender Incongruence,” would have required public school employees to notify parents of any observed gender incongruence among students, effectively instituting a "forced outing" policy. The second, titled “Public Athletics Programs For Minors,” aimed to bar transgender individuals from participating in sports according to their gender identity. Other initiatives, such as “Prohibit Certain Medical Procedures For Minors,” which sought to ban gender-affirming care in the state, had failed earlier in the process.

The initiatives were heavily promoted by SPLC-designated hate groups and anti-transgender activists. Riley Gaines, for instance, called on "parents, coaches, spiritual leaders" to support the initiative effort on the Protect Kids California channel. Chloe Cole, who had pushed a similar failed initiative in California, also boosted the organization on her Twitter account. Gays Against Groomers Colorado posted the most widely viewed announcement, stating, "Although we were not successful in this round to get these issues onto the ballot, we were successful in educating Colorado voters about what is happening to children and motivating parents to become involved." Anti-transgender ballot initiatives, once touted by influential activists as the next front in targeting transgender people, have faced significant setbacks in recent months. In Arizona, Republican Senator Ken Bennett cast the deciding vote against a ballot referendum that would have banned transgender youth from using bathrooms matching their gender identity. He expressed concerns about the constitutionality of the bill and mentioned in a separate hearing that he had family members who would be affected. Had he voted in favor of the bill, the question would have appeared on the 2024 ballot.

Good news: Anti-trans ballot measures fail to make the ballot in Colorado.

The two that were rejected were a forced outing and a ban on trans sports in genders matching their gender identity instead of gender assigned at birth.

A gender-affirming care ban was rejected at an earlier stage.

Just started watching Hulu's Under The Bridge and my queer senses are tingling! 👀

Also the acting is really good! Riley and Lily are phenomenal in here and the actress who plays Jo is absolutely amazing too!

Also! It's set in the 90s! Woo-hoo! The outfits! The music! Chef's kiss!

I do wish that the show wasn't so afraid to be dark tho. But well, we still have 6 more episodes to go!

I'm sensing Emmy noms, too. Honestly, they'll be well deserved if it ends up happening.
