sigh. season 3. here we are. 

i watched the first five episodes and... i felt so uncomfortable. it was bad. not all bad but... pretty bad. so bad, that it wasn’t enjoyable for me and i didn’t care to watch it all the way through, so i read other spoilers and i am not sure if i will watch the final season. but with it being said that i did not watch the whole thing, this can’t be a full review. so, here comes my first glance. spoilers obviously. 

instead of weaknesses and highlights, lets just say likes and dislikes. likes first.

LIKES

- tyler’s storyline. last season, i was skeptical of how they would handle his rape and emotions about it, but i am relieved they gave his character proper care and devin druid did a magnificent job. my only gripe is that i wish they had him do something other than boxing to channel his anger. like, i understand why he would be learning self defense but i would like to see him do something less violent?? 

- jessica’s reclaiming of her body. at first the whole intro to the sex toys was weird but it actually was really touching (no pun intended) to see jessica begin to love her body and love sex again after what she’s been through. also, female masturbation is so underrated. nice to see it encouraged. know your bodies, ladies. 

- the classic jensen tour. i’m surprised they still allow him to do the tours. like, none of the exchange students from the last time reported him? oh.

- chloe and the abortion. as a character, i don’t care for chloe, i’m sorry. she’s not a character to me, just a plot device. also, she gets no cookies for lying for bryce in the trials (i know abusers and victims have a twisted dynamic and that’s why that happened but nah chief) but i do like how they showed that some pro-life clinics will mask as abortion clinics and manipulate women into coming and trying to get them to keep their babies. totally real and fucked up.

- bryce was held socially accountable (kind of) and i think that makes an interesting point about rape culture. in the real world, jail doesn’t scare men in power because they can buy their way out. they don’t care about women and what they feel, obviously. what’ll really fuck sexual assaulters up is when they have no friends and no one likes them. that’s what they (kind of) showed with bryce this season. and he died which, yes fucking rad awesome wow.

- i know that justin also had a kind of darker storyline (with seth, i think? you can tell me if i’m wrong but don’t be rude) but he was a lot of the comic relief it appears and brandon flynn was great at it.

- alex and jessica broke up. hallelujah.

- justin is a abuse survivor. makes sense with his background. 

- monty died too AND went to jail. cool amazing beautiful.

- tony is still ferociously loyal and apparently there was a scene where clay and tony said they loved each other. rise clony. rise up from the ashes.

- “i write fanfiction” - clay jensen.

DISLIKES

-ani. ani, ani, ani. i can understand why people find her annoying and she was probably the biggest reason i was uncomfortable watching but i didn’t hate her. she just... didn’t make sense. the things she did,the things she said, how she was involved and everyone just takes to her and loves her immediately, no questions asked, no buildup necessary... none of it felt natural or believable. a new girl comes in and it’s just a coincidence that clay gives her a tour and she decides to go up to jessica and says shes amazing and lives in bryce’s house and connects herself to the house of horrors that is the tape club (which was so dumb on the tape club’s part by the way, as she could have snitched and destroyed them all) instead of just finishing out her high school career in peace considering she moves around a lot and she starts college in a year and half and probably won’t talk to any of them after that. no, she’d rather potentially go to jail for a bunch of fucking strangers and criminals and rapists. sure, okay.

and for someone who just fucking got there to basically insert themselves in the traumas of these kids and make things worse in some respects and do some fucking shitty things (not listening or caring when she heard about bryce being a GODDAMN RAPIST, accusing jessica of SLEEPING WITH HER RAPIST, accusing clay of being the killer, yelling about chloe’s pregnancy in the street, the list probably gets longer) and think they’re allowed to pass judgment when THEY JUST FUCKING GOT THERE. LIKE, WHY IS SHE SO INVESTED? WHAT DOG DOES SHE HAVE IN THIS FIGHT? DOESN’T SHE NEED TO STUDY OR SOMETHING? WHY IS THIS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING ELSE SHE HAS GOING ON IN HER LIFE?

now, i get what the show was trying to do here. they wanted another, fresh perspective/narrator and i guess a love interest for clay (a wayyyy too convenient love interest, ‘she loves robots and drawing and not minding her business too! swoon!). but they could’ve had both of those things without adding someone to the payroll. honestly, i don’t think they needed a narrator at all but if they really wanted one, they could’ve added an ACTUAL ADULT detective, with no biases so they can be completely reliable to the audience and their investment would be justified. for love interest, yall already know how much i love and miss sheri. she could check clay without sounding patronizing and had chemistry with him and actual nice, romantic history. she could have been his second cop and they could have reconnected and become a couple and... we could’ve had it all, rolling in the deeeppp. 

it’s like with ani, the show wanted to kill two birds with one stone but they missed them both and i think the backlash on her character says it all. i’d just like to remind everyone to give the actress who plays ani respect and courtesy because it’s not her fault. 

- was it just me, or does it seem like the tape club has learned nothing from what they went through? they’re still keeping secrets and trying to hide shit and keep it all inside and i’m like..... but.... this behavior is what got ya’ll fucked up in the first place? and i totally understand it’s about protection and whatever but.... it also feels like an excuse to not be held accountable for wrong doing. like, alex killed bryce. although he had all the reasons to do it and i’m glad he’s dead, he killed someone fam. that’s not okay. and his dad is wrapped up and it’s just... i just... i dont know. then, there was the whole “let’s not tell on tyler so he doesn’t go to jail” thing and i have mixed feelings about that. i think they should’ve turned him in and got clay’s mom to rep him for rehabilitation and therapy instead of a jail sentence. they’re hiding the guns and trying to trust tyler and luckily that worked, but how long? what if someone fucks with him again and it’s too much for them to help him with? 

- speaking of help, clay needs it. oh my god, does that boy need it. they were so focused on getting tyler professional help but, clay’s out here putting guns to his head and having night terrors. he needs therapy more than anyone. honestly, what i would have liked to see, wayyy back in s2, is as soon as justin saw that, he wouldve went to clay’s parents and got him back on his meds and seeing a counselor. he’s been through so much trauma and guilt and he’s tired of his own fucking hero complex. it’s enough man. 

- they tried to have their cake and eat it too when it came to clay stopping tyler from shooting up the school. they tried to be like, clay shouldn’t have done that but oh, he was so brave and what a great guy he is for doing that. no, that doesn’t work. clay should not have confronted tyler in that situation. period.

- zach was disappointing because i agreed wholeheartedly when he said that they should have called the cops but... he didn’t. he was blaming them for letting tyler go free but he was too. damn, zach.

- it’s like they give clay a new lackey every season and.... ok, i guess.

- i also thought it was kind of weird that after everything they’ve been through, they still walk on eggshells with each other? like i guess because now we’re dealing with murder but... i would think they would trust and care for each other a lot more than to accuse each other and spy and interrogate and not just simply ask... like... this season made me not understand the tape club’s relationship. like are they friends? allies? allies trying to be friends? friends out of necessity? do they know? 

- bryce does not deserve to be humanized. that’s all.

- monty does not deserve to be humanized. that’s all. also, it’s so disappointingly predictable that he’s closeted. 

- the new characters (ani, caleb, chloe, winston, cyrus ) i still don’t care about. plot devices, all.

i may edit and retract some things, should i decide to watch all the way but i’m tired.

I didn't finish the season yet, because I really, really hate Ani, I don't watch her scenes anymore... but for me, she has to have some serious mental problem for defending Bryce, like that, sociopath, psychopath or just narcissistic idk... but that's not healthy and normal thing. She's intrusive, and manipulative... no matter how much Clay wanted to help her, how much Jessica wanted to make her see the truth, because she has a sickly and blind opinion. She manipulates others, she wants to know everyone's secret, just pointing fingers at the victims.

I don't know what the writers intended to bring her, but it didn't work, she's boring, she's obsessive, she's invasive, there's nothing good about her. She judged Clay for "so a person can only be saved if you say so" but that's what she does, she's choose who's good and bad, she has come with a judgment of her own, and a resolution of her own and fuck the rest and all the bad things he did.

There's so many other characters that who could tell the history, like why not Justin? Justin was really close to Bryce and live in a toxic friendship for years and years, and he knows that Bryce was bad, and hate him, but also loved him, because Bryce was there for him when he hasn't no one, but still he knows what Bryce did, know how wrong and sick all the things Bryce did, he didn't humanize Bryce. And justin has way more better history to developing, his point would make sense, it wouldn't be boring, and it would be fair. Or Jessica (Victim who has a real sense of justice and what is right and wrong), Clay, Alex, Zach... Okay, but they want a love triangle, so why not Chloe's??? Why not her to tell the story? She's been on both sides, the one in love and blind for Bryce, and the one who saw the truth, she knows all the events, and she had a very good story to develop. And would have reason to kill Bryce. When this season's trailer came out, I came up with the theory of that she had killed Bryce because she didn't appear in the trailers, but was still named in the episodes. And better, she is on the show since the beginning, she knows everything, she knew Hannah, and she also was friends to Jessica, like the writers had all the material to work on, they had enough characters to work and develop and they wasted it on a character that didn't add anything good and only brought anger!!!

ps: I am a person who believe that people can do better. But they have to pay for their mistakes, and being a rapist is not a simple thing, you can't just say sorry and it's okay, NO, you hurt a person physically and mentally, you hurt them thinking you had that right, as a matter of strength and power, you did it because you thought you could, and it's not right and you have to pay. And yet Bryce never changed, he said that, but at the first opportunity he was showing superiority, manipulation, authority, anger, and hurting others. He never understood that what he did was wrong, he never understood that he violated girls innocent, and body's. He didn't try to change, he try to move on like nothing happens... he act like he's the one who most suffered, like he's was the victim.

The deal that's "13 reasons why" part I

I've been dying to watch season 3 since the last season ended. It ended with a cliffhanger, they left us with the image of Clay Jensen, standing in-front of the gym with a gun in his hands. With Tyler, who was beyond damaged and had his motives. With Jessica and Justin's uncertain future, so Alex's too. They left us wondering about Chloë and her pregnancy with Bryce's baby. I just remember how the last shot faded away, just as Hannah Baker. We let her go, just like Clay did. And to be fair and honest with you, I loved Hannah back and beyond. She grew on me you guys, she really did. I am not saying that every reason what she stated as a reason for her suicide was subjective, but that's the past. Hannah is gone, forever really and the others have to deal with consequences of her death and their part in it, no matter how big or small it is. I thought we would get gun violence in the next season, maybe something about Tyler's motives. But we got a whole bunch of a different story. 

This story is Bryce Walker's story. His redemption story, his arch to finish. When the first announcement came, with the hastag #whokilledbrycewalker I remember feeling, good about him being dead. I know this sounds so bad, even if he is just a fictional character. But people like him do exist, so basically he isn't too fictional, now is he? Everyone wanted Bryce to pay for what he has done to Jessica, Hannah, Chloë and a bunch of other girls. I am saying it right here and right now: TAKING AN ADVANTAGE OF A GIRL/BOY, NO MATTER IF CONCIOUS OR NOT IS NOT OKAY. SHOULDN'T BE TOLERATED AND CAN SCAR ONE FOR LIFE. Or take their life for that matter. We are like the kids from Libery High School. We despise the one named Bryce Walker. For two season, Bryce was the main antagonist of the series, without any sign of change. He was lying on the trial for Hannah Baker about their relationship. He wanted Hannah, genuinely. That was the first time I felt, like maybe Bryce can have a soft side and be actually nice. You all remember that right? He cared for Hannah, he liked Hannah in the beginning. But his ego couldn't take the rejection she gave him, to be just "friends". So he did what he knew best, getting what he wanted the way he wanted. He himself just said it, he is "a privileged and rich white kid". He was used to getting everything in his life, no matter what way he did it. Well and if the girl he wanted, wasn't keen on giving in consensually, he was going to take it without consent and any piece of guilt. But was he really? This whole post will be/is dedicated just to Bryce Walker, since now he apparently got his own season. So I think, you shouldn't read this if you haven't finished the season yet. This is A SPOILER WARNING. From this way forward I will write spoilers so, please come back to this post when you are finished. If you are interested in a random babbling of a random chick on the internet. 

So Bryce Walker wanted to change huh? In this season we got to see Bryce and his actions before his death, just like we got to see Hannah in the flashbacks. What do I say? Where do I start? Maybe with this simple sentence: Bryce didn't deserve to die. Yes, yes now half of you will come at me with the argument: BUT HE RAPED GIRLS AND THAT SHOULDN'T BE FORGOTTEN. I didn't forget, none of it. Can the worst of the worst redeem themselves? Trough the season, Bryce was realizing that the things he has done weren't the right ones and he was taking the responsibility for what he has done. It was there, just like a shadow, following him everywhere, in every hour of the day. In his new school, he was immediately recognized as the "rapist" who should FUCK OFF. He was known as the rapist in his old school and in the whole entire city basically. It was like, he had it written all over his back and forehead. The only one who didn't know about Bryce and his history was Ani. Well Ani... I don't really like Ani, but since she is the only person who narrated this story and from whose point of view we got the most flashbacks, I need to lean on her, no matter how unreliable of a narrator she was. He wanted to start, fresh and clean with her. To work his way back up to the normal society, without people shaming him and putting this rapist label all over him. So in one way, I can understand Ani. She didn't know him as much as the others, she didn't know and he could be very charming indeed. To be honest, I found myself being charmed by Bryce time to time, just to remind myself that no... It's Bryce Walker, he is a rapist and that's no good. I was convinced, for the majority of the season that yes, he definitely does deserve to die. I didn't know who killed him, but whoever did, just made everyone a huge favor. He basically lost everything, the moment he touched Hannah Baker and Jessica Davis. A chain reactions, just like chemistry or the butterfly effect, however you want to call it. This was the consequence of his actions and he had to deal with it. He wanted to redeem himself. I was like: "Bullshit, not possible." I was literally turning my eyes upside down every time he tried to play on my feelings. Bryce Walker crying? Bullshit. Bryce Walker being all lovey-dovey? Aw hell no. Bryce Walker realizing that what he has done was wrong? Not fucking possible boy. Indeed, it is possible. As the story progressed and I was getting closer and closer to the end, it was harder and harder to not feel for Bryce. It was their intention the whole time anyways, maybe they got me. Maybe they didn't, I don't know. But I felt that he really wanted to change and I realized two things then and there. 

Death is like a redemption for him, he leaves behind all his troubles. That is why Bryce Walker didn't deserve to die. And second, the burden he was taking for his actions was huge, that was his punishment. That was supposed to be his punishment, not being able to belong again. Because of what he has done, because everyone knew. He was supposed to be punished this way and not be given the golden ticked to hell. By killing Bryce, he just got rid of every guilt he had, because he was no more. I think living with the realization of what you've done is worse than dying. Knowing that you destroyed lives, taken a life in fact. Just because you are a white, privileged, rich asshole kid who can't keep his dick in his pants. That is why I think, he didn't deserve to die. He is at ease now, with him staying, he wouldn't be. We don't kill people who killed others. We lock them up, leave them with their own thoughts and memories, to suffer it trough until the day they die. And they die, still with the thought of what have they done. I don't know what Bryce Walker was thinking the moment Alex held him above the fence, just the moments he threw him over to the water. I will never know, we won't ever know. It's fiction anyways but... Bryce Walker didn't deserve to die. To suffer because of his memories would have been much much of a worse punishment than death. 

And my last question is: Can the worst of the worst redeem themselves? Yes, everyone can, if there is the willingness. Bryce was willing to change, to accept what he has done. He apologized to Jessica, even if he knew that it wouldn't take back what he has done. He apologized to Mrs. Baker, knowing that it won't bring Hannah back. He knew it very well, but no matter of anything, he tried. And I think he really cared for Ani and his mother. He cared for Hannah, remember?  Bryce Walker was a monster. Bryce Walker was a monster, still willing to change. And yes I know, it won't take back anything he ever did. I think Bryce knew it too, his mother knew it, Ani knew it in the end too. As he said, he is trying but the world is not letting him. Not letting him to take of that label of the rapist, part murdered in Hannah's case. And I know everyone is saying, that Netflix just tried to makes us feel sorry for Bryce. I am not saying, I am sorry. I just see that he tried. He wanted to but he never got the change to finish it. I will miss Bryce's character for that matter, because he was an interesting one and he made a lot of the storylines tied together. 

Kuddos to Justin Prentice for bringing him to life for three whole seasons. I am sure, taking a role of a rapist must be hard, to know how much backslash you will get. Because obviously some people still don't understand that he is not his character. So thank you Justin, for doing the best of yours and giving us Bryce. I just have a soft spot for Justing I guess. FAVOURITE FRUIT: Pomegranate, pineapple and nectarine for consistence and orange for taste (but I hate the consistence)

''Yeah, absolutely ! And I'm so happy to have her by my side today. It's a very important day and I couldn't imagine spending it with anyone else but her. Speaking of the devil, she's right there ! '' Anne smiled, before pointing towads you. You waved at her, and she blew you a kiss.

''You two seem very close ! How did you guys meet?'' The interviewer asked, a smile on his face.

''Actually, she was a fan of mine.''

''No way !'' The man exclaimed.

''Yes way !'' You best friend laughed, running her hand through her hair. ''She's been there since the beginning. I always saw her posts on Instagram, she was so supportive and nice to everyone, so I thought I could plan something to meet her. A few weeks later, I managed to invite her on set of The Tribe. She was so happy to see me, I remember the day as if it were yesterday.'' she answered with a wide smile.

''Wow, that's literally every fan's dream! Y/N is very lucky.'' the interviewer spoke.

''I know right! It's been two years now, and she still thanks me about it. And to be honest I couldn't ask for a better friend, I'm so thankful for her.''
